I have the original OpenFit and wear them with sunglasses any time I run outside. Never had any problems with it. Wouldn't wear them in the gym tho, I've got noise cancelling earbuds for that.
r/running • Official Q&A for Sunday, November 23, 2025 ->I have both and like both, I find the open fit irritate my ears after awhile due to the way they sit on them. The open fit definitely sound better though.
r/ultrarunning • Good earbuds for Trail Running? ->I used aftershokz. That became shokz. Def work, worn for hundreds of hours sweating in all conditions. No drama or issues
r/running • What earbuds do you use while running? ->I have both the Opendots and Openfit (1 not 2), and I like the sound signature of the Opendots a little better, although I think Openfit is a slight bit more full. Since I don’t have the Openfit2, I can’t say for sure, but I would guess it sounds pretty darn close to the Opendots. In my opinion, the choice between those two doesn’t come down to sound quality (they’re both great), but rather fit and style. Opendots don’t interfere with my glasses at all, so that gives them an edge. I’ve found the Opendots easier to wear for longer periods of time. Either way, you win!
r/Earbuds • Shokz Opendots One. ->It’s about the same thickness, but considerably smaller, maybe a bit more than half the size of the OpenFit case. It’s also much more rounded, so it fits in a pocket much easier.
r/Earbuds • Shokz Opendots One. ->I have the Shocks with the band and AirPods Pro. I use both. I prefer the AirPods with noise cancellation if I’m running at the gym, and I use the shockz for outdoor runs for safety. I personally don’t notice the band on them at all when I’m running.
r/XXRunning • Shockz OpenFit earbuds? ->Aftershokz give me a headache pretty quickly and I can't hear much anyway.
r/bikecommuting • Are open-ear earbuds the way to go for bike commuting? ->I got the open fit. I chose based on reviews on YouTube. Music is loud enough on my runs. I wore them for a half marathon and they stayed on fine and I don't feel them at all. The battery lasted through the whole half and had plenty of battery to spare. I can still wear a hat. When I am running outside I can hear when someone is approaching or if a vehicle is near. I love them and think they are stylish and cute. I got the pink ones and they match my ear skin tone. Downside: it's not as immersive as an experience as in bud ear phones. If I go at a busy time at the gym I can barely hear my music over the machines making the treadmill even harder.
r/XXRunning • Shockz OpenFit earbuds? ->I've had three pairs of the Openrun minis over the last ten years and used them mainly for running and cycling. I just switched to the Openfits which are over the ear earbuds so they don't have the band in the back. They are so comfortable I can have them in for hours and don't feel them at all.
r/XXRunning • Shockz OpenFit earbuds? ->I use the Shokz Open Fit, the ones that are separate open ear buds, the sound is much better than the open run models that are bone conduction. They still won’t be as good of sound quality or as loud as in ear earbuds they aren’t terrible either.

Absolutely can hear everything even when I have the volume all the way up cause I’m hurting doing 1K repeats.
r/XXRunning • View on Reddit →Same. When i have to wear a beanie, it gets a little tricky
r/XXRunning • View on Reddit →I totally agree with you. I love my open ear Shokz. I can hear my music and everything around me!
r/BeginnersRunning • View on Reddit →I tried the shokz open in a shop. Great sound , comfortable with my glasses. But I'm put off because of their poor customer service regarding warranty claims.
r/Earbuds • View on Reddit →I’d look at open or semi-open options instead of another sealing bud. The two I’d check first are Beats Fit Pro and Shokz OpenFit. Fit Pro still goes in a bit, but the wing tip is the real win for the gym. It stays locked in way better than most, and because it’s not relying purely on a deep seal, a lot of people with smaller ears find it more tolerable for longer sessions. OpenFit is the opposite approach: it doesn’t seal at all, sits outside the canal, and stays stable while you run without that pressure buildup that makes your ears sore. If you want something that feels even more barely there and you don’t mind sacrificing bass a bit, Sony LinkBuds are also worth a look. They’re great for comfort and awareness, and they don’t do the deep in-ear thing that’s wrecking you now. For iPhone compatibility, all of these are totally fine on AAC, and since you’re using them for workouts more than calls, it’s mostly going to come down to which fit style your ears tolerate. If you can, try the sound tunings at [audiotones.co](http://audiotones.co)
r/Earbuds • View on Reddit →3 sets, AirPods pro for work and passive sounds to control incoming noises, i work for road maintenance, shokz openfits for home, need to keep my ears aware for kids, and status audio for loud listening sessions, or listening to whole albums
r/Earbuds • View on Reddit →Shokz ooen fit are the best running headphones I’ve owned. The open runs and open se’s were too big for my head??
r/XXRunning • View on Reddit →I wear Shokz Openfit, they don’t slip at all. The sound is great and you can hear your surroundings too.
r/beginnerrunning • View on Reddit →Shokz open ear/over ear. Not a fan of the bone conduction version because I hate having a strap behind my head. Like many others, I used to just wear my AirPods and get in the zone. Unfortunately had a dog sneak up on me once and then was almost hit by a car I didn’t hear coming that blew past a stop sign. Prefer to be alive and in one piece so the “lower quality” sound isn’t an issue. Plus I still think they perform really well.
r/Marathon_Training • View on Reddit →https://shokz.com/products/openfit2 I wear these, the sound quality is great, I can still hear my surroundings and they are comfortable to wear/stay in place if you run or jog Edit: Just noticed you said cheap. These are pretty pricy but I’ll leave the comment up in case anyone else is interested.
r/walking • View on Reddit →I didn’t like how the Shox felt while wearing a helmet and sunglasses. I switched to the Bose Open Ear Ultra and have been very happy.
r/gravelcycling • View on Reddit →For in ear I love my anker sound core. But for battery life, I love my aftershockz conduction. I have an early version. My partner has the fancy waterproof one.
r/BuyItForLife • View on Reddit →Shokz open fit (they are not connected in the back). Love them. They are light, they won’t fall off (they hook over each ear) and you can cover your ears. The cover your ears is a big thing for me because I could not do that comfortably with my regular connected Shokz- which are also great. I just wanted to be able to cover my ears in the winter. Edit: words
r/XXRunning • View on Reddit →I use the Shokz Open Fit, the ones that are separate open ear buds, the sound is much better than the open run models that are bone conduction. They still won’t be as good of sound quality or as loud as in ear earbuds they aren’t terrible either.
r/runna • View on Reddit →Shokz openfit as someone who experienced ruptured eardrum.
r/S24Ultra • View on Reddit →Shokz Openfit/Air. I wear glasses and they feel like they aren't even there. The only reason I know that they are on is that I can hear music in my ears. The battery life is fantastic as well. I'm a bit of a slow runner, and my first marathon time was over 5 hours, and the Shokz lasted the whole time.
r/Marathon_Training • View on Reddit →I have had all 3 shokz open for 1 and 2 and the dot one. The dots call quality was pretty terrible. The openfits are just all around great. Though I find myself reaching for the soundcore aeroclips more and more.
r/Earbuds • View on Reddit →I've owned every iteration of the Open Run (currently have the OpenRun Pro 2 in the regular neck band size). I use them for trail running and have been extremely happy with them. None have failed (even tho I run in the rain in the PNW winter), but as new models become available I upgrade for better sound and give away what I have to a family member. I also own the OpenFit buds and think they have the best sound, but I prefer having the 'hardware' controls on the OpenRun. My one complaint was that the rigid neck band sticks out away from my head and looks stupid. And THEN I discovered that Shokz makes a 'mini' shorter neck band version of the Open Run model. So I have the Open Run 2 Pro Mini in my cart, ready to check out on July 8th when the 25% off sale begins.
r/trailrunning • View on Reddit →Shokz are incredibly popular with cyclists and runners for this reason. Can't speak to the ones you referenced but they look very similar to Shokz OpenFit which I have and work great. You can hear your music and your surroundings well simultaneously. Shokz also makes bone conduction headphones which in my experience keeps your ears open better for ambient noise, while sacrificing audio quality/clarity as the sound fires from the side of your face rather than your ear canal.
r/bikecommuting • View on Reddit →Thirded, I will never go back to in ear buds. Love aftershokz and feel a bit safer being able to hear traffic and bikes coming up behind me.
r/XXRunning • View on Reddit →They did offer me a discount. I’ve decided to try out a pair from Amazon. So far not so bad. Little heavier but came in at 60$ cdn
r/trailrunning • View on Reddit →I have found that in-ear headphones with good transparency mode are superior to open ear headphones like the Shokz for cycling (but it depends on your speed). I think the Shokz are great for walking and running but the wind noise on a bike tends to be much louder which necessitates turning the volume up. My airpods don't need the voume turned up near as much and the transparency mode works astonishingly well. Pair that with hearing aid and I can hear some sounds better with the headphones than with nothing when it's windy and I'm biking.
r/bikecommuting • View on Reddit →I got the open fit. I chose based on reviews on YouTube. Music is loud enough on my runs. r/XXRunning • View on Reddit →I have the Shokz Open Fit (latest model) and the sound quality is better than my Apple AirPods. I listen to podcasts while running and it’s perfect.
r/runninglifestyle • View on Reddit →Yeah I’ve gone through 2 pairs in just over two years. They warranties one but wouldn’t the second because they were from the claim.
r/trailrunning • View on Reddit →Powerbeats pro 2 might be the answer. I use shokz open fit for the outdoors and the gym. No noise canceling but they stay on all day.
r/Earbuds • View on Reddit →Honestly either way you can't go wrong. I think I'm more of a fan of the clip style because I wear glasses. I also use the Huawei free clip. But honestly the shokz openfits are still amazing. I mainly use those for the gym. I also forget I'm wearing them most of the time I'm like the clips.
r/Earbuds • View on Reddit →Man I have been through so many of them, and maybe it's just that my ear is odd but I've been frustrated with how they either fall out or bother me after 30 minutes or so.... until I found one built very differently. At last, I'm happy with the Shokz Openfit, because they wrap around the back of the ear rather than trying to be seated in your ear canal. So maybe give it a try if you like.
r/GooglePixel • View on Reddit →I use several different pairs of shokz. Open run, open fit and open comm. You really can't go wrong with any of them.
r/audible • View on Reddit →I upgraded to these from what you have and I like these even better. SHOKZ OpenFit - Open-Ear True Wireless Bluetooth Headphones with Microphone, Earbuds with Earhooks, Sweat Resistant, Fast Charging, 28HRS Playtime, Compatible with iPhone & Android, Black Checking out the EQ modes in the app: Standard, Vocal, Bass Boost, Treble Boost and Customize.
r/headphones • View on Reddit →Best Buy sells Shockz open earbuds. They work really well. You can go test a pair out before purchase. Long life too. :)
r/GalaxyS24Ultra • View on Reddit →Shokz OpenFit. Because they're actually little speakers, so they sound good, they aren't just trying to vibrate your skull. You still get all the frequencies. Very comfortable since they don't wedge in your ear canal, they sit a little bit in front. And they're a good balance between being able to hear my music and being able to hear around me.
r/trailrunning • View on Reddit →I love my shokz and bought them for similar safety reasons. I bought the most basic/cheapest ones and I can’t see why I’d need an upgrade (unless I’m missing something?) I’m surprised at how good the sound quality is. I can’t deal with wearing them in the winter, though, because I get headaches if my ears aren’t covered. So I have some Bluetooth earmuffs for winter which are also not terribly noise-cancelling.
r/XXRunning • View on Reddit →Shockz are on sale for 74.99 right now at Costco. I bought a pair last weekend at Costco and have worn them every day since on my runs and I love them. Obviously, they are not as good as having an earbud directly in your ear, but there’s some guy running around my city grabbing women on the butt while they run so I’d rather be safe and be able to hear someone run up on me.
r/XXRunning • View on Reddit →Shockz OpenFit, great when put an about and still need to react to the external world.
r/SteamDeck • View on Reddit →i have switched to open air ear buds like aerofit pro and shokz open fit. You lose noise canceling but gain all day comfort for listening to music. My ears don't get sore like with in ear silicone buds If i need noise canceling i just use my headphones
r/GalaxyS23 • View on Reddit →I'm on my third pair of Shokz (I started when they were called Aftershokz) and couldn't be happier with them.
r/running • View on Reddit →Also keep in mind because it doesn't create a seal, the bass would be severely lacking compared to ones with silicon tips. Did you try previously changing the tips to different sizes?
r/HeadphoneAdvice • View on Reddit →They used to be known asAfterShockz and I can give a third review: they worked for me as I ran in thick snow (almost blizzard)- they're a wonderful product I will replace in a heartbeat!
r/Ultramarathon • View on Reddit →I'm on my 3rd set of shokz, 1st set were actually Aftershokz. love that I can hear what is going on around me. Audio quality taking a back seat is fine with me but they are honestly not terrible.
