A PrismXR Puppis S1 is great too Edit: didn't read all the post haha. But for me it's great since I dont usually have router connected so every time i had to take ethernet out of back of pc and connect the router and another cable back to pc. It was a hassle. Puppis solves it being plug and play.
r/virtualreality • Is 6E wifi router really only way to go wireless PCVR? ->It's also been working great for me
r/virtualreality • Is there a good WiFi extender for VR? ->I would second this. I also use one of those, and it's always been fantastic. I play *tons* more SteamVR games since getting it.
r/virtualreality • Getting a router for VR. How good should it be? ->Yeah like other people have said, don't get an extender. It probably would be a bit of a nightmare trying to stream VR over an extended Wifi network. Get a PrismXR Puppis S1. They're cheap and you'll have as-good-as-it-gets VR over Wifi.
r/virtualreality • Is there a good WiFi extender for VR? ->You don't need 6E for this, you won't be anywhere near the bandwidth limit of 6 streaming AV1 or any other codec. I spent a huge amount of time and money trying to find the best VR router for Quest 3 and PCVR. I was fixated on getting one with a 6Ghz band and it was a huge waste of time. It simply doesn't matter for this use case. 100% get the Puppis S1 recommended in another comment. It easily handles 200mbps AV1 and has no weird latency spikes or other issues that every other router/AP I tried did.
r/virtualreality • Help me get a WIFI router for PCVR ->I'm not saying AV1 is the best codec, just saying that router can easily handle the bitrate. 6ghz can indeed be good in high congestion areas, however I found the Quest 3 to be really finicky with picking it up and staying on it. It seems a lot happier on 5ghz. 6ghz is also easily obstructed. I found even a chair or a person breaking line of sight with the 6ghz AP could cause issues with the signal, and in VR you notice the tiniest hitches. No such issues with 5ghz. The only device I found that "just worked" was the Puppis. I spent like a year trying to find a stutter free VR experience, it was a saga ?? Take the advice or leave it, I don't really care, but I'm hoping to save folks some money and headaches by recommending the best tool for the job for the vast majority of people.
r/virtualreality • Help me get a WIFI router for PCVR ->100% this. Just save yourself a lot of money and frustration and get this. It's the only one I found that "just works."
r/virtualreality • Help me get a WIFI router for PCVR ->I bought the Puppis S1 and it’s been flawless for the past few months since purchase. Suddenly I’m having latency issues and can’t seem to diagnose it. Previously I would have swore by the Puppis, but at a bit of a wits end.
r/OculusQuest • What is a good priced wifi router for Quest 3? ->I bought the Puppis S1 and it’s been flawless for the past few months since purchase. Suddenly I’m having latency issues and can’t seem to diagnose it. Previously I would have swore by the Puppis, but at a bit of a wits end.
r/OculusQuest • What is a good priced wifi router for Quest 3? ->I bought the puppis s1. SteamVr and virtual desktop run smoothly for me now.
r/virtualreality • Is there a good WiFi extender for VR? ->Yes! I’m using this [dedicated router](https://a.co/d/ceunyIx) Also as much as I love Virtual Desktop I recently switched to using Meta Link instead based on [this video and the results have been fantastic](https://youtu.be/C799qSimMd4?si=b2gFpmq6TDfaIfP6)

I would say you want a 6e router. Put that in the room with your pc and headset. And you don't need to wire it to your main router, just to your pc. It's basically like a giant dongle that uses the fact that Wifi 6e sends a lot of data. 6e can't go through walls very well, so make sure headset and pc are in the same room, and it's not like an L shaped room with a corner blocking it or something. There's lots of youtube videos on setting it up. Also use virtual desktop, it's worth the little cost. Steam link is also okay and getting better. Air link or meta link or facebook brain blast or whatever they are called are not worth your time. Puppis S1 is also a great option. But 6e routers really are nice. If you get one of those make sure you set it up to have a 6ghz channel, and use that for the headset and have NOTHING else on that wifi channel. Heres the router list from the virtual desktop discord. I use the AXE75 cause it was discounted whenever I got it. I think spent like 80 bucks on it? Might have been used. I see one for 110 bucks on amazon right now. Ebay might work too, I'd bet you can find people selling them. I doubt used vs new matters much as long as it works. Heres a list of some others from the discord... yes one of those is literally a minion... yes it's the cheapest wifi 6e router that works well... > Community Tested Routers > The following routers have been reported to work reliably from a number of users: > (Preferred BE/Wifi 7) - TP-Link BE9300/BE550 ($179-$299 US) > (Preferred AXE/Wifi 6E) - TP-Link Archer AXE75/AXE5400 (~$190 US) > (Preferred AXE/Wifi 6E) - Davolink 'Kevin' Minion 6E ($129 US) > (AX/Wifi 6) - GL.iNet Beryl GL-MT3000 ($90 US) > (AX/Wifi 6) - PRISMXR Puppis S1 ($80 US) > (Last Resort AC/Wifi 5) - GL.iNet Opal GL-SFT1200 ($50 US) > (Last Resort AC/Wifi 5) - TP-Link Archer C6 or A6 ($40 US) > Achievable rates are subject to your specific setup, headset, wireless environment and could vary considerably. With a good setup you can expect: > AXE/BE (up to ~600Mbps) > AX (up to ~400Mbps) > AC (up to ~200Mbps)
r/OculusQuest • Umsure what type of router to buy to play PCVR games on my quest 3 ->Internet connection speed has nothing to do with your PCVR streaming experience. You can use it with dialup or even without internet (VD requires internet though, but it's only for DRM check so internet speed is irrelevant unless you are playing an online game). Quest 3 doesn't support Wifi 7 (only Wifi 6E), so picking a Wifi 7 would be more for future proofing. Wifi 6E and Wifi 6 should perform similarly in ideal conditions. However Wifi 6E is better in case there is already a bunch of 5Ghz networks in your area. That's because Wifi 6E can use the 6Ghz band which is very unlikely to have congestion since very few people currently use this band on their wifi networks. Puppis S1 is a Wifi 6 router that is known to work well and should have an easier setup than a normal router. However, you should only pick it if your have at least two USB ports available on your computer (one of them needs to be USB 3), and if your PC will sit in the same room of your play area (passing two long USB cables between rooms is not something feasible depending on the distance unlike with an ethernet cable). If you decide to get something other than the Puppis, then I highly recommend you first check on the [Virtual Desktop Discord channel](https://discord.gg/C9uUXQZu) to see if someone already tested with the specific model of router that you are choosing. If you just want to get something that is already well tested by the VD community, then this list is straight from their discord channel: >High End (AXE) - TP-Link AXE300/AXE16000 ($450 US) High End (AX) - Asus RT-AX86U ($300 US) Dedicated (AXE 6E) - Davolink 'Kevin' Minion 6E ($129 US) Dedicated (Wifi 7) - TP-Link BE9300/BE550 ($200-$300 US) Dedicated (AXE) - TP-Link Archer AXE75/AXE5400 ($160-$200 US) Dedicated (AX) - GL.iNet Beryl GL-MT3000 ($90 US) Dedicated (AX) - PRISMXR Puppis S1 (80$ US) Low End (AC) - GL.iNet Opal GL-SFT1200 ($50 US) Low End (AC) - TP-Link Archer C6 or A6 ($40 US) \* *You should only pick one of the High End routers in this list if you decide to upgrade your main router instead of using a dedicated one for PCVR streaming. Picking any of them as a dedicated router is a waste of money.*
r/VRGaming • Recommend me an access point / Router ->Above talked about the intel issue, I never got it working. So... put in your router brand/model. There are a lot of routers that have good upload/download specs... but the processor on it just stinks. Like you will never get good results from a router that is given free with your internet connection. And make sure your computer is plugged in with a wire (otherwise half of the bandwidth will be used for the computer, half for the quest). and if you have to buy a router, consider the prismxr. It's wifi 5 but works better then most others I have a wifi 6 gaming router that was recommended and the prismxr works nearly as good and super easy. Oh and grab a free wifi channel app for your phone and it will show the congestion.
r/oculus • View on Reddit →\+1 for the Puppis S1. It was down to $60 this past September. Nobody needs to spend $180 for a great VR streaming setup. Q3 was built for wireless internet as well.
r/virtualreality • View on Reddit →I have literally zero issue using my Quest 3 wirelessly for PCVR. Get a Puppis S1.
r/MetaQuestVR • View on Reddit →I bought a puppis s1 for half that price
r/virtualreality • View on Reddit →Just get a Puppis s1 and virtual desktop. Not hard.
r/virtualreality • View on Reddit →Have ya considered something like the puppis s1? Usually goes for 63$ on sale, plugs into two USB ports. It's your own little mini quest router. I've had really good luck with it! Always 2400mbps in virtual desktop. Range isn't great, but in the same room is fine
r/oculus • View on Reddit →I have both a 6E router and Puppis S1. There is no perceivable difference in streaming performance for me. Both handle 500mbps h264+ with no problem and give a clean performance even with video buffering disabled and automatic bandwidth throttling disabled. VD performance monitor show no difference. However I do not have a lot of 5ghz congestion. 6GHz is a safer bet if you are in a congested area, but going 5ghz is ~$100 less.
r/virtualreality • View on Reddit →What are the things you had to buy? I used my current router for a while, eventually I got a puppis s1 but that's it. Steam runs 100x perfectly with the q3
r/virtualreality • View on Reddit →I have a Quest 3, and my quest link works perfectly. I have flawless wireless connection for PCVR gaming, and don't even use Virtual Desktop. Just Air Link and SteamVR.
r/MetaQuestVR • View on Reddit →I bought the Puppis S1 and it’s been flawless for the past few months since purchase. Suddenly I’m having latency issues and can’t seem to diagnose it. Previously I would have swore by the Puppis, but at a bit of a wits end.
r/OculusQuest • View on Reddit →Prismxr Puppis S1 dedicated router did wonders for me. $67 on Amazon right now and doesn't replace your existing router but used in conjunction. Smooth sailing ever since. Also using Virtual Desktop
r/virtualreality • View on Reddit →Yes it's wired connection to your PC and actually uses 2 usb's on a bifurcating cable, so you need one usb3.0 and 1 regular USB. My play space is in the same room as my computer and this router, but my home router is upstairs. I switch my PC to connect to the 2.4ghz when running the Puppis because having 2x 5 ghz bands interfere a little. Not sure how it would perform though a wall. With just one wall and you being right on the other side you may be okay. Buy it somewhere you can return it if it's not working for you maybe
r/virtualreality • View on Reddit →Puppis S1>>> (price/quality) 2400mbps constant and stable
r/virtualreality • View on Reddit →Get the Puppis S1. Purpose-made for your use case. I use it for wireless PCVR and it has worked flawlessly for me so far. Currently $80 but goes on sale for $60 sometimes. Either way it's on the cheaper side compared to a dedicated router, which will require more troubleshooting and hassle.
r/OculusQuest • View on Reddit →Have had very good luck with the PrismXR Puppis dedicated VR router: https://www.prismxr.com/products/prismxr-puppis-s1-ax3000-wifi6-router-for-pc-vr-streaming-quest-3-compatible Puppis S1 Specialized Router for PC-VR Streaming – PrismXR Think very likely worth considering other options, cause for sure any dedicated router that wasn’t too complex to setup would have advantages… …but found this to be a perfect/easy solution for me so def wanted to share. ??
r/SteamVR • View on Reddit →Can confirm with the pupis s1.... thought there was no way it would be that easy... it is
r/virtualreality • View on Reddit →DO. NOT. LISTEN. to the people recommending that hot garbage. The puppis was the most disappointing VR related purchase I've ever made. During setup it asked for broad and intrusive permissions, made registry edits, and absolutely refused to function without an internet connection. When I bit the bullet and gave it what it asked for, it messed up my wifi card drivers, and it was a real pain in the nuts reverting all the changes it made to my system. Badly designed at best, active data snooping at worst. PrismXR products are wretched, and I suspect people are actively astroturfing for them on this sub. Save your money and buy a router, don't live like me. While we're on the subject of badly designed access points, steer clear of Linksys products, also victim to enshittification practices, with very little granular user control, and a setup page that lets you do very little aside from set a password and rename the network. I've been using a GL.iNet router which does NOT ask for a concerning amount of creepy permissions, and has excellent configuration options.
r/virtualreality • View on Reddit →I love that it's more trusted now. When I got mine over 2 years ago I tried to recommend it but no one knew what it was nor trusted it.

r/OculusQuest • View on Reddit →I just bought a Quest 3 coming from a Reverb and also wanted to try the VD thing. I bought a PrismXR router that is meant to be awesome for this (https://www.prismxr.com/products/prismxr-puppis-s1-ax3000-wifi6-router-for-pc-vr-streaming-quest-3-compatible) and am sitting about 1m away from it while playing. I tried all the different codecs, maxing out the bitrate each would give but the compression artifacts are always there, especially when looking at a forest of trees and a cloud casts a shadow on them. Its like all the codecs go "here is some dark green shit, compress it all to be some green blur" I find that using the cable and doing the debug tool override to like 950mbit on H264 gives me the least amount of compression artifacts - so I am using the wifi and VD for other games, and link cable for DCS. The quality I have now is close to the G2's - not quite as sharp, but close enough, so I am happy. Not sure if that helps you at all, but those were my findings.
r/hoggit • View on Reddit →YOU. CAN. ALSO. LISTEN. TO. ME. IF. YOU. WANT. IDC. It works fine. The better model, the cheaper ethernet only one didn't work at all for me.
r/virtualreality • View on Reddit →I have the puppis too. Best vr related thing ive bought. Can play pcvr anywhere in my house.
r/virtualreality • View on Reddit →I just bought the PrisimXR router for my PC, easier stuff for Airlink and VD to work with. Hate that I HAD to buy it, but for VR gaming, it is what it is.
r/oculus • View on Reddit →I was never able to get VD working right. Meanwhile I had absolutely zero issue with a Puppis S1 as a dedicated router, while using Airlink or SteamVR.
r/virtualreality • View on Reddit →The Puppis S1 is my favourite VR purchase this year, there's definitely merit in having a device specifically designed for the Quest that delivers a focussed experience. I wonder if they'll make a version that focusses on the tech in the Steam Frame given the included dongle, maybe they'll wait for a wifi upgrade in the next Meta headset first.
r/virtualreality • View on Reddit →Keep it simple with PrismXR Puppis S1 $80 done
r/oculus • View on Reddit →I don't know where in the Balkans you live but if you can get the puppis s1 lite from another eu amazon it should work ( enough for pcvr due to how restricted the 5ghz channels in europe) I remember to check for 5ghz congestion where you live, unfortunately for me I live in a flat in the city center so it's pretty congested and 6ghz also very restricted. I ended buying a USB C to Ethernet adapter and attach it to the side of the quest 3 and connect it with a long ethernet cable to the pc (I use ics to share the internet to the headset), and it's the best experience so far with VD H.264+ 500Mpbs , better than my puppis
r/virtualreality • View on Reddit →I would recommend the Puppis S1. It is ideal in capability and value in an uncongested 5ghz environment.
r/virtualreality • View on Reddit →Very childish reply. Spend two seconds to Google next time. The Puppis S1 is a plug and play option arguing with the point that the steam frame is better because it has a plug and play option.
r/virtualreality • View on Reddit →It's also been working great for me
r/virtualreality • View on Reddit →Get a Puppis S1 instead. Why bother with cables? Get flawless wireless instead.
r/MetaQuestVR • View on Reddit →Puppis s1 by prismxr. Works like a charm
r/OculusQuest • View on Reddit →That's not a problem, most people only have one LAN port on their motherboard. All you have to do is take your existing wired internet and plug it into the WAN port on the new router, then plug your computer into a LAN port of the router, and now you are plugged into the new router while still having Internet access. That said, if you don't want to bother with internet/networking stuff, the PrismXR Puppis S1 is a perfectly capable alternative to a Wifi6 router and often cheaper alternative especially when it goes on sale for like $65.
r/OculusQuest • View on Reddit →I did extensive research for the same thing. Ended up with the Puppis S1 based on everyone’s praise. It lives up to the hype.
r/virtualreality • View on Reddit →PrismXR Puppis S1 saved me - I’m on college WiFi so I don’t have much control over my internet specifics. Puppis S1 isn’t as plug-and-play as others make it out to be, it takes a little fiddling in settings to make sure it’s working correctly, but once it is, it’s SO worth it.
r/QuestPiracy • View on Reddit →My Puppis S1 is just a dedicated router. It doesn't have connection to internet, and only devices that touch it are my PC and headset. My PC is still hard wired to a modem for internet. I can play wirelessly 30 feet away from my Puppis S1, through closed doors. Without any stutters or lag or artifacting or any issues at all that I've noticed. I don't use Virtual Desktop, I haven't editted or modified any files, just a default Quest 3 and my computer and the Puppis which was basically plug and play, and then Air Link and SteamVR.
r/MetaQuestVR • View on Reddit →With the puppis, it connects with usb. It IS plug and play. The frame will likely also need an external battery, i doubt battery life will be significantly better then the q3. The cost of the frame is still likely to be more than a q3, puppis, headstrap and VD combined. It will really come down to the price.
r/virtualreality • View on Reddit →I sim race in iRacing every day with my wireless Quest 3 and it works great. As others have said, you want a solid Ethernet connection between the PC and your main router. As others have stated, you may need a separate 6 or 6e router between the Quest 3 and PC. A good option is the PrismXR Puppis router, which is specifically made for wireless VR. I personally no longer need that since my Quest 3 is the only device on my ISP router’s 6 ghz band. No lag, latency spikes or compression artifacts. For the power management, I don’t race longer than an hour or so and once I finish the race, I immediately connect my Quest 3 to a USB-C cable so it recharges while I am waiting for the next race.
r/virtualreality • View on Reddit →How is it a bait? Straight up facts. Edit: I own Quest 3, Bobovr S3 pro, Prism xr dedicated router, Virtual desktop, VR link cable and it took so much time to research and order all of that, and Steam frame solving all the problems.
