Facecam MK.2 is on sale right now for $120 at Best Buy! If you don’t have lighting and $100 is your entire budget, you want to make sure you have room to buy a light or two lights. I was going to recommend the lights I have but they’re out of stock. What I would recommend is to find lights that you can adjust the temperature of WHITE. If it’s a cheap light that has full colors, stay away from them. Many times the white on those only have a couple temp options and they aren’t bright. I can’t stress enough how important lights are—especially with these webcams!

About the same tbh. The MK2 might have a better base setting color wise and slightly larger fov , but they both do 1080p60fps. Another choice, though, could be an OBSBOT. I remember hearing good things about them, and they run $70-150 depending on the model. The tracking feature is an interesting bonus

people are giving you great webcam options already, but was gonna say make sure to check ebay for some savings. The amount of people who will buy expensive products to stream, then give up quick, means there are a ton of good, lightly used, streaming equipment on there so could easily get the elgato face cam mk2 for a deal, and is one I personally have used and it looks great. Def a great webcam to get and only upgrade to it, imo, would be going down the DSLR camera as a webcam road.

Whatever you do, don’t get the brio. I’d lean towards the OBSbot. It’s the same price as the Facecam MkII, and yeah you’ll only be streaming at 1080p, but the image will be that much sharper if your face cam is ever full screen if you’re running the webcam at 4k. The downside is, it’s only 30 fps so you’ll get a lot of motion blur unless you can change the shutter speed. If all you want is 1080p60, the Mk II is a fine choice and opens up the camera hub software for you which is a great piece of software.

I'm a fan of the Elgato Facecam. I've had both the Mk 1 and Mk 2, and love them both. Software is good but not perfect. Good in low and bright light. Good color accuracy. Ability to utilize LUTs if you want.

I have a 922 Pro, it's 1080p30, so not a 60 fps cam if you need to be in 1080p. I also hate it, it's hard to get the colors right, even in good light. For now I am only using it as a top down cam, and not my main cam. For my main can I use an Elgato Facecam MK.2. And that is a 1080p60 cam, and the colors are much better. But to be honest, for a relatively cheap, and good webcam, with 4k30/1080p/60, I would have a look at the OBSBOT Meet 2. You can also get the OBSBOT Meet SE, at 1080p/100fps if you don't need the 4k resolution, for an even cheaper price.

Still, that will not change it's bad image quality when it comes to colors. It wash out almost anything. The OBSBOT Meet SE I mentioned is £80, and is a far superior camera for not that much more money. And that is a 150fps cam if you only want a 720p resolution. Or 100fps in 1080p.

I have two Logitech BRIOs sitting on the shelf, because they're useless basket-case shitgoblins. They error out, overheat, glitch, disconnect, and generally are just trash. I bought two because the whitesheet made them look like the perfect webcam. They are not. They look WORSE than a c920 even in perfect lighting somehow. I'll regularly take one off the shelf and update the software and firmware to see if it's fixed yet. Still no, so far. I'd recommend one of the Elgato Facecams if you're going with a webcam. The Mk2 or Pro both are at the upper end of what a webcam is going to be capable of, and punch almost on-par with a starter grade DSLR/mirrorless.

Elgato c920 is the gold-standard starter cam. You can find them on-sale for around $50 usually. Of those three, I'd go with the Elgato. Avoid the BRIO like the basket-case shitgoblin it is (I have two sitting on the shelf, they're worthless little turdbuckets that constantly error and look like absolute crap, even compared to a c920; I bought them when they first came out as their whitesheet makes them look like the perfect cam, but THEY ARE NOT). > Btw, I do stream at 4k60 You must be streaming to YouTube, then? Because Twitch's max bitrate would make any 4K60 stream look like hot fried poop. Absolutely unwatchable. Doubling down on the Facecam Mk2 (or bump up to the Pro), it's going to give the best quality out of the three.

The Facecam mk2 is a solid device. Remember that you'll hear complaints from those with problems, and nothing from all the people for whom it works without issues. I *will* point out that they just brought out the Facecam4K though; I'm waiting until Black Friday to see if there's a price drop since it's only about a month away, and plan to pick up a couple of them for my workbench setup. While 4K60 might kinda be overkill for a 1080p stream, it also allows you to pull a cleaner chromakey if you plan to use a greenscreen, and lets you "zoom in" (by resizing up to native and cropping the cam) with no picture quality loss, where a 1080p60 cam would turn into a much more pixelated view.

Elgato Facecam Mk2. No idea if it's on-par with an Iphone, but it's quite decent, does 1080p60, and should retain settings. It's actually on sale on Amazon at the moment. They also just brought out the Elgato Facecam 4K, but I haven't got hands-on with one of those. The specs look good, doing 4K60 video for $200, which is just insane. Tempted to pick one up myself at the moment actually, looking at it. The c920 settings reset is a Logitech firmware issue that pops up on some systems, and has been around for *years* now and is still un-fixed. Really annoyed with Logi in general for a lot of their camera and controller stuff.

Seconding this. Some people will say the others are "just fine" or suggest using your phone. Out of the box, the Elgato Facecam Mk2 has better picture clarity and color accuracy than the Brio does. Using its software you can also zoom in and pan around without a loss of picture quality. It's seriously one of the best external cameras you can get without springing for a much more expensive DSLR/Mirrorless option.

I recently got the Facecam MK.2 for 100 - Used - Like New from Amazon. If you can find a deal like that its a no brainer, so many options and settings you can experiment with and of course it works pretty flawless with obs as well. But definitely make sure to have proper lighting as well, cheap lights should do it for now

I don't understand the hate for the Facecam Pro in this thread. I got it as soon as it was available and always found it really really good, even when lighting isn't the best as long as you set it up correctly. And I mean close mirrorless quality, especially to the untrained eye. I'm sure people will laugh at that, but I'm serious. I do use a mirrorless over the Pro because I have one and it was way more expensive, so I should get my money out of it. I point the Pro at my cat bed. But I would have zero problem going back to using the Pro as my main cam because the quality is so good. It's just not as versatile, but that isn't really a big downside for most streamers as they're just sitting in one place with mostly static lighting. And for people who say it's bad and has never been worth it, I do wonder what you think has the same quality for the same price? I personally think the Kiro 4k looks a bit better out of the box, but not once both are properly set up. I haven't personally tried any of the tracking webcams, but I have almost every other one, and the Facecam Pro looks better than all of them. *Edit* I should note, I think the Facecam 2 looks about as good when it comes to color accuracy and such at a much lower price. That would definitely be my recommendation for anyone who doesn't stream at 4k. But if you want a 4k camera and don't want to go the professional camera route, the Pro is the way to go imo.

I have both and they’re both great. Logi is good for starting out, and Elgato is the upgrade option. Lighting is important for either one, so if you’re not going to fix that then I’d say don’t bother spending more for the Elgato right now. Start with the Logi and upgrade once you’re ready.

Well Since I didnt get a response I bought both cameras from Amazon and returned the one I didnt like.. If anyone reads this or runs into the same issue the Elgato Facecam MK.2 was a disaster to setup in OBS with a green screen and pretty good lighting.. I tried and tried and tweaked and still couldnt get it right. I plugged in the OBSBot Meet 2 and it was almost perfect right out of the box, With some minor tweaks its crystal clear @ 1080p60. Dont even waste your time with the Elgato Facecam MK.2

I’d recommend checking out some comparison videos if you haven’t already. Even after being configured in a controlled lighting setup, the Elgato Facecam MK.2 still looked worse and less natural than the Obsbot Meet 2 did straight out of the box for me (for the same price). After browsing a lot of threads too, I'm not the only one. A lot of people are disappointed with the Elgato, and when compared to the Obsbot, it almost always loses

Best choices would be the elgato facecam mk2, or the new elgato 4k. For the LED you will want to find a method of covering it or research for specific webcams with the ability to turn them off since it's a privacy concern a lot of webcams directly link the LED to the sensor so if the webcam is in use the LED will be on.

This is the camera I started out with (the C920x version).   It was a good little camera but it does take some work to get looking good!   I’d suggest turning off auto white balance and setting it to what you have your Elgato lights set to. Since you have consistent lighting, the white balance shouldn’t change too much and the auto setting will often be incorrect.   You’ll also want to set the gain and brightness.   You can change these settings within OBS by clicking the ‘Configure Video’ button in the video source properties window. Also realize this camera was originally released in 2012… 13 years ago… EDIT: If you want to change it for a better camera both Elgato Facecam products are great with great color and exposure.

There are several quality webcams that look as good as regular cameras these days. Elgato Facecam Pro and Facecam MK2. Osbots line of cameras. Insta 360s line of cameras. And on a budget, even the EMEET 4K camera. I was using a Canon SL2's and moved to Elgato cameras and the quality is good with zero complaints from viewers. And the software for webcams is easier and faster to make adjustments on than it is for DSLR/Mirrorless cameras in many cases. So, I'd say if you're mostly filming from your deck or some stationary situation, a high quality webcam will more than take care of your needs.

Adamantly here to say the C920 is absolutely garbage. Unless you’re in the most perfect of rooms, the white balance and exposure of this webcam is truly awful and you’ll need a white index card to calibrate it constantly. You can see many videos of this on YouTube. I just bought an Elgato Facecam MK.2 for $109 and it’s fantastic for the price. Just slightly over your budget but well worth it for the customization/LUT software alone, not to mention the actual quality of the camera you’re getting for the price. Very happy with my purchase and i imagine I can still get 25-35 back by selling my c920 on eBay.
