My recomendations would be to get a compact bagged canister vacuums. they are very light weight, easy to use and have far better suction than any of the stick vacuums. If you really want something similar to a stick vacuum, get a sebo dart, or sebo felix, or miele upright. U wont miss with both of these brands.

Twenty seven years ago we purchased a Eureka canister that broke within a year. We ended up with a Miele. That thing still runs and I use it to clean my unfinished basement twice a year. My new Miele canister lives on my first floor for hardwood and my Sebo upright in s upstairs for carpeting. The Sebo is heavy but it’s a beast that will definitely outlive me. I now have two very cheap cordless vacuums that I use like Dustbusters. I’ve never understood why people buy that Dyson crap. There are complaints everywhere. There’s a difference between a company that spends money on engineering and quality and one that spend it on advertising. Dyson spends it on advertising. I’d vote for Miele everyday.

Sebo Dart would be high on my list. The feature list is trimmed down from the SEBO Felix. It has on/off versus variable speed control, the handle height is not adjustable and the power head does not twist/flex left and right. The cord is 30' and the brush roll can easily be removed and washed. The power head works well on bare floors and you can add the premium parquet. Commercial variants are available from Karcher and Windsor. Sebos are designed to be repaired and come with good warranty.

Dyson V 15 and Sebo owner with two super hairy shorthairs living in a cement floored warehouse with lots of Turkish area rugs. Not sure what your obviously perfect feline does but life with my kitties has its challenges. They are dirt attractants to say nothing of the charms of litter in bare fee. Couldn’t live without the instant availability of a cordless and the 15 is a solid performer in all areas. My rugs do look cleaner after a full Sebo experience but I’m lazy and place is big. I have come to realize you need more than one vacuum, unless you have only one flooring type , don’t have to carry up stairs or navigate a labyrinth of hallways and live in under 1000sq ft.

I was in full decision paralysis by the time I got to chat with Andrea (geekvacuums). She was up late answering all my questions, answered all my concerns, and just held my hand as I tried to figure out the best decision for my home and family. I never felt pushed and I was so happy that I could support a small business while getting it shipped to me. I love our local stores but none of them provided payment options that worked for our family. For those who need these options, def research and find a small business who Sebo supports. You’ll be able to get a better warranty than their own site or Amazon - plus you can still use the warranty at your local shops even though you don’t get from there. I am so amazed at the performance of this little vacuum. I wasn’t prepared for our carpets to feel this fresh and new after vacuuming ??

That might do for you. I got a similar vac, a Titan fron Screwfix and have been very pleased with it. It's very noisy, as it's shop and not domestic. I bought it for dealing with various bits of dust and rubbleand ash, kept it as a general downstairs vac for floors that are brick and stone with rugs. Upstairs we have carpet and pets and I have a Sebo, but that's partly because I'm not prepared to lug the Titan up and down stairs, I need a vac on each floor. I've only used it once as a wet vac but it was very effective at that too. https://www.screwfix.com/p/titan-ttb774vac-1300w-16ltr-wet-dry-vacuum-220-240v/826kh

If you want another option, look into Sebo vacuums. They’re a bit pricey but built like tanks and great for allergy control. The sealed system is no joke.

A Henry should be at the top of your list, since it's affordable and manufactured in the UK.  You can use variety of parquet brushes and the horsehair ones would be great for LVP.  A miele or Sebo would be more expensive and would come with extra bells and whistles such as self retracting cords and better ergonomics, storage.  If you need to clean rugs, you can find a turbo attachment.  These options will last you 15+ years.   If you want something cordless, Dyson fluffy rollers are good for quick pickups and won't hurt the flooring.  The V8 absolute package includes a fluffy roller and goes on sale intermittently to be within your budget.  Keep in mind while it might be a space saving option and convenient, cordless stick vacuums usually last a couple of years before big problems arise, hence why the main recommendation is for bagged, plug in vacuums.

If you have a meaningful amount of carpet and it’s anything higher than a low-medium pile you’re gonna need to spend a bit more to get a “long term” vacuum. Look into the Sebo E3/K3. You more than likely need something with an electric powerhead. If your carpet is extremely low pile you can get away with an E2/K2 with a turbo brush. If your budget was 300 I doubt you’re willing to more than double that, so my advice is to look into the Kenmore Intuition or Kenmore Pop & Go. They should last you at least 3-4 years, hopefully more if you take care of them.

Sebo - great German brand, all replaceable parts.  Basically no mainstream consumer brand is good anymore. Their not designed to be fixed, and on since cases are designed to eventually fail.  Look for brands that make industrial vacuums. they often have a consumer option. They will typically be more boring looking but far more reliable. And they'll cost 2-3x a typical Dyson. My Sebo was $1200, but I was replacing vacuums every couple years, so if it lasts 6+ then I'm even.

I like to add, SEBO is another great option. One can be more available than the other depending on location. Big thing is bagged vacuums are just better. Everyone switching to bagless was just a straight downgrade.

It’s one of those but once cry once things. A Miele or SEBO will last much longer and do a better job than a cheaper option.  It pays for itself in not having to replace it in a couple years.

Indeed, the Dyson is ideal for everyday light cleaning in smaller spaces or apartments. A canister vacuum is more suitable for thorough weekly cleaning of a larger home. Unfortunately, I cannot afford both the SEBO I purchased and a €1000 Dyson. I might consider a robot vacuum for automated daily cleaning and mopping in the future, though higher-quality models are also quite costly, similar to the Dyson, and also made in Asia, which I prefer to avoid.

And officially it’s my goal to thank every single one of you all that recommended my vacuum for me. 6 months in with our particular Sebo and we’re hooked on the quality of it. OP, when you get a better vacuum, you’re going to flip at the night and day difference in customer service. Our new vacuum had a teeny tiny nuisance issue, took it to the shop where we bought it, turns out there was a service notice for the issue. Fixed and turned around in under 2 hours with no charge. Post your requirements, and let this wonderful community guide you!

In that case look into the Sebo Dart. It’s a more traditional upright and is great for carpet. It also has a brushroll shutoff for your hardwood floors. A little more expensive than your budget, but not as expensive as the E3. It will also last you a long long long time. The justification I make to myself is, if I spend 200+ on a vacuum every 2-3 years, that adds up over a 10-15 year period. If I spend 5 or 6 hundred once on a Felix, I very well may never need to spend money on a new machine again (with proper care and maintenance)

With Sebo I’ll just say, if one wants an upright, spend the extra and get the Felix over the Dart. I got a dart and have spent more than the difference on the parts that come with the Felix. For the time the vacuum will last, the difference is worth it.

I get what you mean. In my store we have vacuums that range from $250-1200. Most of the time I recommend the Sebo Dart at $650 and most people are okay at the price point with the features it has and the build quality. Spending $650 on anything is a big chunk of change but its guaranteed for 10 years by Sebo from a dealership so you have comfort in knowing your investment is well worth it.

Basically doesn’t exist according to your specifications. Anti-tangle brushrolls don’t work and are a marketing gimmick and bagless vacuums don’t last long. A decent long lasting vacuum is going to be bagged, corded and fairly expensive. Look at Sebo uprights, Riccar R25, etc. Something cheaper, look at something like the Kenmore Elite

Good place to start is SEBO Felix and Dart. I’m also A fan of the oreck power team: an oreck elevate series upright and a compact canister. Less expensive options that work well for small spaces and are more affordable: kenmore Intuition. It’s bagged, and does well on hard floor and carpet. Unfortunately there aren’t tons of bagged options that are compact and upright. Plenty of canisters though.
