It suits my needs just fine. I won’t buy a canister, and I don’t have much carpet. I tried a lot of vacuums at the local shop, and this was my favorite.

Mine imploded in less than a year. The motor died and it ate its own belt. Come to find out Most major brands in big box stores are owned by the same Chinese company and do not offer repairs. Just got a Riccar and am very happy with it

I would recommend the R65 Riccar cordless stick vacuum. It allows you to change the suction speed. I believe they are priced around $300 and can get parts for them easily if you ever need them. I will say they aren't meant to be a whole house vacuum with pets, but will do great on area rugs and stairs with pet hair.

Riccar or Miele. I've had both, currently have a Miele, and once you step into this range of vacuums you typically won't be satisfied with lower end models abilities. Amazing suction, independently powered brush heads, multi-stage HEPA filtration, etc. Not sure what model the other user that had Miele had, but mine is super well built, but that's expected when spending $1200+ on a vacuum.

For the most part yes. In my opinion the only two decent cordless vacs are the Miele Triflex and the Riccar one (can’t remember name). Even then, I would recommend a corded canister or even corded upright before I’d recommend a stick vac. In my experience most stick vacs are not made to last longer than a year or maybe two. Just by nature of having a battery they are disposable, and they tend to be cheaply made. You also don’t get the benefits of a bag

Riccar makes a stick that is absolutely insane. I think it’s a bit more expensive than this but I’ve seen it handle stuff that normal canisters couldn’t

The miele / Riccar stick vacs are definitely a step up but still not what i’d consider BIFL. Just the nature of taking batteries kind of limits their lifespan. You can get replacements, but they cost money and aren’t covered under warranty after a period (which is when they die, lol)

Also, cordless is convenient in the short term but they are pretty much made to be disposable. The batteries deteriorate and they tend to be made out of cheaper plastic and break quicker. If you just absolutely needed a stick / cordless the only two I could recommend are the Riccar stick (forgot exact model) or the Miele Triflex.

I had two Tineco’s and really liked them. Unfortunately, they both broke. I recently got a Riccar stick vacuum. I’m very impressed with the build and suction. It’s a bit heavier. The battery just pops out to recharge or you can recharge on its stand. It’s pricier than Tineco, $400, but I think it will last a lot longer.

Riccar (R65) Simplicity (S67) Stick vacs are poor vacuums. A pro once said to me "you shoud think of them as weak electric brooms, not vacuums ". A D4 later and I get it now. I'd buy a bagged cordless before getting a stick vac. However, If I ever do buy a stick vac again it will probably be one of those two.

I’ve had two Dyson animals and both have broken and are not repairable. They are not good vacuums, but they have great marketing. If your town has a vacuum store go there. (They hate Dysons too.) A good vacuum is expensive, but you’ll never have to replace it. I’m saving up for a Riccar or a SEBO. My sister has a Riccar and it is a dream. Never thought I would say that about a vacuum.

As someone who works in the industry you will be replacing parts on that Dyson within 2yrs and having it fail at the 5yr mark. Consumer based reports are skewed due to the type of questions they ask like “how often are you getting your vacuum serviced”. Truly, look into Riccar. Most stick vacuums are not for deep cleaning and are basically brooms on steroids. They’re great for messes that just happened and picking up some furballs. Deep clean you need an actual vacuum

Cordless vacuums can clean just fine now a days, but the ones that do a decent job are all going to be a couple hundred. The assholes pretending that you aren’t cleaning at all probably don’t have any clue what they’re talking about anyways. Not saying they’re going to clean as good as corded, but they can do a good job for in between deep cleans. Miele makes good performance cordless vacuums, most of the complaints are going to be on the maintenance side, even though it’s very simple. Some people have difficulty figuring it out and remember how to maintenance it. Riccar makes a good one with a ton of suction power, now that isn’t going to necessarily translate to carpet performance, but it does a good job still. Especially for price point. Riccar R65 Miele hx2 series Riccar R10CV is going to be the best carpet and hardfloor performing cordless vacuum, and it’s bagged with a hepa/charcoal bag. Downside is it is strictly for flooring. No hose for attachments. They are really popular for schools, churches, and gyms in my area.

I wouldn't purchase any stick vac to be my primary vacuum. If your Kirby is breaking belts you may want to have it serviced. And if by cleaning the hair you mean cutting the hair off that's normal and needs to be done with any vacuum. You can get a canister with a turbo brush within your budget but if you move into a place with wall to wall carpeting you'll need to upgrade again. If a stick vac is a must look at the Riccar R65.

Real vacuum dealerships will not sell Dyson any longer. Many other traditional brands either because those companies have decided to produce in Asia and change designs super fast. It is the OPPOSITE of sustainability, it is planned obsolescence at an incredible level. Vacs should not be bought online and a big box stores, these machines do not clean carpet/air, are designed to fail, can’t be serviced and are literal fire hazards. Man the stories I can tell you about “brand new” machines. Most were manufactured years before they reached the consumer. CAVEAT EMPTOR. Dealerships sell quality machines, built to last, serviceable, at great competitive prices, with warranties that do not cost extra. You can’t find service like that anywhere! Find a dealer and buy Riccar or Sebo.

I've had the riccar for about a year and it's been awesome. had to clean the filter once because i used to vacuum drywall dust before i bought a shopvac.. it works really well and is super convenient to use and looks good in the corner. i paid extra for the battery stand and honestly haven't needed it but I'm only working with one floor at the moment, battery is good for at least twenty minutes on high that's a lot of vacuuming i usually only run it for a few minutes and can get the floor in every room. easy to take apart I like that it doesn't feel annoying to vacuum because you don't have to plug anything in and it works well, easy to swap attachments from the stand.

Riccar R65. It’s the best stick vac out there. We owned an LG A9. Nice vac but the power head rollers kept breaking. I got tired of returning them to Costco and they stopped carrying them. I’m not paying $150 for a full power head to replace two $.25 rollers on what should be a $10-20 bottom plate. Dysons we’ve known and used all have triggers that fail eventually and they’re ridiculously overpriced for something that’s no better built or serviceable than the LG we had. Miele makes the triflex but the durability reviews are mixed for an expensive vac and I didn’t love the ergonomics on the one we used. The R65 base model is enough for most, but we bought a complete package for about what we might spend on a Dyson. Comes with three heads for carpet, hard surface and upholstery, plus a secondary battery. IMO, the base model should come with the second battery, or at least the dual charging base. Battery life at least has been plenty for us to spot clean about 1000sqft of hard surface and a flight of carpeted stairs every day. The hard surface roller has been great for that. Keeps any kitchen floor residue off the stairs too.

I have a Shark Pet Pro Stick that plugs in, and it's really great on my hardwood floors and area rugs. I can't speak to super longevity yet, I've had it since 2023 with no issues. I used to have a Riccar, which is one of the good (but not quite Miele expensive) brands, and it was incredible- but it was also really heavy, and cumbersome. For me, regardless of how "good" the appliance is, the best one is the one I actually use. This and the Bissell Pet Hair Eraser handheld are my super duo. I have a short-haired dog who sheds like crazy and a maine coon. The tumblefuzz happens quickly if I skip a cleaning day.

To be perfectly honest, bagless vacuums are awful at dealing with pet hair. If a bagged vacuum is just going to sit in your closet unused look at something like the Riccar R65 because it has better manufacturer support than Dyson.

Riccar R65 has two sets of hepa filters on it, come in a package for about $25 so you can replace them as often as you want. $499 Or the Miele Triflex series (not all models but majority) has really good filtration with a lifetime hepa filter around the motor. The hx2 series or hx1 cat and dog and up.

I have two criteria for stick vac: readily available filters and removable batteries. The Riccar R65 is very nice. It comes with a stand and a few tools and sells at $399. The Simplicity S67 is a budget friendly option at $249 as well. Both are supported by the manufacturer.

Just purchased the Riccar 65- so excited! It performed better than the Miele stick and had a ton of suction compared to the Dyson I’ve been using. Going to an actual vacuum store is so different than just buying online. I would have pulled the trigger on the Miele (corded) but we have pets and vacuum daily. The cord would have irritated me.

But also, these are all going to be 500+. Anything under that either doesn’t hold up, or doesn’t perform typically. (R65 can be found for $399 in stores usually.)

I speak from experience. I experience many vacs daily. Bagless all leak. The brush rolls are weak at best. Shark puts out models with no or very little support. The bagless vacs are designed to be replaced in 5 years. Bagged especially Riccar and Sebo are designed to last 20 years and create a MUCH cleaner space than any bagless. Shark and all bagless can afford advertising and reviews because it costs nothing to make the trash they sell. See a local dealer, learn what it takes to be a real vacuum.

Build quality is apparent as soon as you pick it up. Dyson and the others feel like cheap toys. The R65 feels like a tool. And it pulls 65in of water lift. Dyson pulls right at 45. Plus, the new Dyson gen5 is $949 and the R65 is $399. 2 year warranty and the company is in Missouri, not China. Those are big selling points to me. Any other questions, I'd be happy to answer. I am not a salesman, or affiliated with the company. I am a tech.
