I went from an odyssey g8 to a C4 a while ago. Its not as bright as my odyssey and going from curved to straight needed an adjustment period but now having a tv take up my entire peripheral vision and things just being larger in general is so much better in my opinion
r/OLED_Gaming • Switched from a 34" Ultrawide OLED to a 42" LG C4 ->You make a valid point. Most monitors seem pretty good but I don't honestly know the difference between a productivity monitor and gaming. I've got a Samsung G8 34" Ultrawide OLED, but that thing is terrible to read text on. I would absolutely not recommend it for your use case. I'd prob recommend reading reviews. I tend to think most monitors are pretty good these days. There's a sub "buildapcsales" that lists deals and all sorts of things. slickdeals is also a great website just for the comment section on items.

I’ve shared my feedback on other posts but will reiterate here given there aren’t many reviews or real world experience users out there to share. For context, I’ve spent the last couple of years on OLED, first the Alienware 3423dw, then the MSI mpg321urx and a Samsung G80sd. I’ve also tried (and returned) the MSI and Samsung 49 inch super ultra wides. I “downgraded” to the g75f 40 and it’s been a pleasant surprise for me. I like it way more than I thought I would and giving up perfect blacks was a lot easier to do. Part of that may be because I don’t play a lot of really dark games, but I think part of it is this monitor has really good contrast. Colors seem great and calibrating with my Calbrite went well. My use case is 80% productivity and 20% gaming, maybe 90/10 or 100/0 on really busy weeks. I can’t understate how much easier it is on my eyes after a 10 or 12 hour day of spreadsheets and legal memos. Not having to set low brightness to avoid burn in helps with that I’m sure. Not having to hide taskbars, keep a bland black background are pluses for general usability/ enjoyment. The 5k2k and 40 inch form factor feels best for productivity, and while the Dell or LG IPS monitors have more productivity features, most of their convenience is covered by my work issued thunderbolt dock. Viewing angles aren’t nearly as good comparing to OLED but in practical use I’ve not had any issues. On occasion at the farthest edge of the screen I can see slight brightness / gamma shift. But otherwise, I sit in front of my monitor and haven’t found it problematic. Overall, seems to strike the right balance of productivity, gaming, and peace of mind for my admittedly very fringe use case/needs. At $676 all in with Samsung EPP through my work, I feel like I get good value out of it. Not worth it at retail or really anything above $850 in my opinion. I know the “OLED or die” crowd will pan it as poor value and for the gaming enthusiasts/ priority buyer, I’m sure it is bad value. But if you fall in a similar use case as me, I’d recommend giving it a shot if you get it on sale, you might be surprised. Worst thing that can happen is you don’t like it and return it.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • G75f is a winner ->I'm using a 34" Samsung right now and my texts don't smell, but my email smells atrocious! It might be a real issue with 34" monitors. I just purchased a Shark HEPA Air Purifier and I'm hoping it will help in the long run. YMMV though!
r/macmini • Ultrawide monitor for Mac mini ->UPDATE: I ended up buying the Samsung G8 34inch OLED and I gotta say that it was definitely the right choice! The immersion in games is massively increased with the ultrawide and I don't know how I would go back to normal screens now. Thanks for the comments :)
r/buildapc • 4k 27inch OLED or 2k 34inch curved ultra-wide for gaming ->I have the G8 ultrawide (so one step between that one and a 16:9). I love it for productivity and am really happy with it for games (except for those that don't support ultrawide which is an annoying thing). My biggest gripe is the UI and I don't know if the interface for the G9 is the same. I'd guess it probably is because it feels so lazy that I imagine they just slapped it on yours too. If you're not switching inputs or unhooking and reattaching a laptop all the time then you probably won't notice. But if you are you'll find there are a lot of annoying menus that you can't permanently get rid of and too many extra steps to do simple things like changing inputs. All in all I have been tempted to find a monitor with the same OLED tech but by a different brand in the hopes that they do interface stuff better. But I've also used it for about two years now so I guess it's not a total deal breaker.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Does anyone have this monitor and recommend it? ->I’ve got a Samsung 34” unltrawide and I run both an intlem Mac Pro 2019 and an M1 MBP on it and they both look fantastic, nice and sharp & no issues.
r/mac • An ultrawide curved monitor suitable for a Mac – does this exist at all? ->I'm happy with my Samsung G85SD, matte panel coating, but "only" 175hz. AW3425DW (240hz) should be the best out there if you find it cheap, from [dell.com](http://dell.com) you should get -10% using DELL320 code. But OLEDs are not future proof as pixels get slowly dimmer in time...
r/Monitors • Best OLED ultrawide under $900 CAD for gaming + Photoshop? ->I have the g8 and its great. Fwiw
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Does anyone have this monitor and recommend it? ->Thought this was r/ultrawidemasterrace and was wondering why everyone was commenting on just the screen size. ?? Glad it’s supported. I play on a G8 so I have more support than you in general but sometimes devs make terrible decisions. (Looking at you, square enix)
r/Battlefield6 • Perfect Super Ultrawide support. ->Just got myself a 34" g8 oled. While that's a good monitor i feel like it's about perfect size for gaming BUT a bit small for productivity. I think my sweet spot is going to be somewhere between 38" and 49". While resolution is great I need to say that I'm spoiled with the higher pixel density of my macbook pro. Same comes to colors - they are great but until i start to compare side by side with the macbook screen. Doing 2-4 hours of gaming in free time + productivity/coding in work time
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →I've had zero issues playing full-screen on an ultra wide monitor. I use a Samsung 3440x1440 UW (relatively cheap one from MicroCenter, paid $200 for it) and have had zero issues with scaling. My characters scale just fine. No short and fat or tall and skinny deformations. My hot bars are a tad smaller, but not enough so as to be detrimental. edit - but the UW does give me enough screen real estate to spread out my hot bars laterally, so I can have 16 hot bars up and still have more than 3/4ths of screen for the action. As to what you asked about how the game renders the periphery in UW...for me, it renders it just fine. No warping the edges or other deformations. Just more being visible side to side. Not really all that helpful in DDO, but great in my fps games (pubg, cs2)
r/ddo • View on Reddit →Check rtings, i have the g8 oled of samsung and its great, excellent picture quality and response time, the only problem is purple blacks in a well lighting room
r/buildapcmonitors • View on Reddit →I can’t go back from 49’. I bought a MacBook to work when I’m away from my desk but could not gel with the small workspace and so much scrolling…. I started with 34 on the path of Ultrawide with the predator x34 and the all the Samsung odyssey monitors. I look forward to LG’s 5k2k monitor.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →You should not be getting greyish blacks on a OLED. Anyway unless you are a console gamer go Ultrawide. The extra field of view is awesome and most games support the resolution. 4K is really demanding and imo not worth it. I have a 4K and Ultrawide monitor and I barely use the 4K monitor. In games the difference is not noticeable enough for me to sacrifice my field of view and performance. Btw this question is better for another sub. A lot of people on here just say 4K and a lot of them haven't even tried an Ultrawide lol Also OLED VRR flickering is a thing so I would do some research on whatever monitor you are thinking of getting. From my experience Samsung is great. I went with the G8 instead of Alienware and I was happy with my purchase. No VRR flickering and better looking picture then the Alienware that was out at the time. I also tried a Asus Ultrawide and LG and both suffered from VRR flicker
r/OLED_Gaming • View on Reddit →I have the Samsung g8 oled 175 hz which at the time basically was the same panel as the Alienware dwf and there were a couple more. However, I believe since they have released newer models from more brands which support higher refresh rates, Nits and better safer panel technology. So if I were you I’d recommend looking around, I don’t think Samsung has a new one to replace my model yet but they might but the caveat of Samsung is they don’t give warranty on screen burn in. If you going oled though I typically set a plain back background, auto hide taskbar and keep no app icons on desktop with fallback screen sleep of 5 mins. Which reduces the risk of burn in dramatically but I think the newer panel models are a lot more resilient anyway. But yeah 2 years or so with this monitor and it was one of the best purchases I ever made. Once you go ultrawide you won’t go back and the vertical screen works a charm you can stack 3 apps reasonably comfortably with this format like discord, YouTube, and a music player or text document etc. once you go ultrawide though you will find yourself a lot less distracted by your side screen since it’s naturally more immersive. Right now though I don’t have my 27 inch vertical just next to it as hdmi loads after display port and I was doing bios tweaking and that sucks with vertical haha
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →Samsung OLED G8 is better because of the coating, but people like to hate on it because of the brand, panel OS and lack of burn-in warranty. This will probably be downvoted to hell, but at least i have used it next to the AW3423DW, and i did not like what the coating did to the HDR result.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →I have two monitors; lower is a Dell Canvas 27 at 2560x1440 (16:9) and top is 3440x1440 Samsung (21:9 UWQHD). It allows for tons of Adobe side-menu space, which is actually more useful than timeline work.
r/graphic_design • View on Reddit →Yep! Similar to mine; may even BE mine.
r/graphic_design • View on Reddit →There’s probably some deals still going on, I have a Samsung odyssey G8 that I like but they have different levels depending on how much you want to spend. Just looking on Amazon they had some nice options in the 2-400$ range
r/macmini • View on Reddit →Hmmm try the Samsung Odyssey OLED G8 34". It’s 1440p ultrawide, 175hz and looks amazing for gaming or daily use.
r/Monitors • View on Reddit →I have g8 which i plug both my mac and pc and on both operating systems they look crisp so I don’t agree with you about macos.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →I have 2, 21:9 monitors. An old Acer Preditor X34 which is an IPS 100hz and a new Samsung Odessey G8 OLED which is 175hz. The Samsung is the same panel as the Alienware that everyone recommends as the best monitor, but also doubles as a smart TV effectively. (I don't use any of the TV functions, but they're there if people want them) Personally I've found majority of the games I play support the 21:9 display no issue, Skyrim requires modding, but newer titles all natively accept the resolution. Some games, FFXIV, Minecraft etc I've had to adjust HUD sizes and stuff to make it more ledgible and manageable, but that's just in game settings, I haven't used a 4k monitor, but I have used a 4k TV as a monitor and it requires the same adjustments. Titles out in the past year such as Palworld or Black Myth Wukong, you can just open and play, full support and correct scaling straight on opening. All in all I ld recommend the resolution, it's great for gaming, and it's wide enough that doing a 50:50 left right split allows 2 very usable windows so makes it great for productivity / Web browsing etc
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →New G85SD OLED user here and I can confirm, this is an excellent monitor, especially when configured in HDR 1000.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →I personally ended up downgrading from the g9 to the g8 ultra wide as I kept getting neck strain from the aspect ratio. I was also using some side monitors for media and discord but did not like the vertical setup.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →I have the g8 and has good speakers
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →I think a 34" ultrawide gen 3 QD-OLED 4k 240hz 21:9 monitor with a slight curve is the absolute best option. Anything wider or curvier is a hard pass for me. Currently using a Samsung G8 34" ultrawide 175hz 1440p 21:9
r/OLED_Gaming • View on Reddit →Since you'll use it for work just don't go with OLED. Even with all their protective features and me using dark mode everywhere my Samsung Odyssey G8 ended up with burn in on half the screen. On my case even with the 34 inch in split screen I find it useful to have a second (or third if you like screen) that's why I went with a 16" portable monitor which I can also carry with me for my laptop if I want to.
r/LinusTechTips • View on Reddit →Any Samsung panel will be a good one TBH. Mine is from a few years ago, so I am sure a newer better model exists at this time.
r/graphic_design • View on Reddit →You should wait for LG 39 inch version which i think will be released by April 2026. I have LG 45 inch 5k2k and it’s amazing for gaming and for watching videos (it feels like an IMAX for some reason), for productivity i still prefer my other Samsung oled 34 inch.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →We have sweet Samsung curved monitors. They’re huge and display multiple things at once. I can get the NSN tomorrow if you’re interested.
r/navy • View on Reddit →I use a 34" curved Samsung monitor 3440x1440 plugged into my mac mini m4 with no issues whatsoever. I have a thunderbolt to displayport cable. I actually have it going to 2 monitors. The second monitor is just a 1080p monitor (I don't always have it on, just when I need some extra space), and again a thunderbolt to displayport cable. No issues whatsoever.
r/MacOS • View on Reddit →Since you play FPS, motion clarity matters more than color or curve. check out the Samsung Odyssey OLED G8 (34" QD-OLED, 240Hz)
r/Monitors • View on Reddit →Yes. Same experience I think but maybe if I went back I’d be able to tell. Have 2 Samsung 34.5” ultra wide curved. https://preview.redd.it/lxh9odk03mlf1.jpeg?width=1179&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=78f2acf2b08b48472b18ab36c0a6937c22735eb9
r/RocketLeague • View on Reddit →The Asus rog is a way better monitor than those ultrawides you selected. I had both the Asus , the Xiaomi and now an G8 ultrawide OLED. In picture quality and response time , the Asus was closer to the OLED than to the Xiaomi. So I would say , yes ultrawide is worth it, but don't cheap out on your choice.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →Since you’re eyeing a 34-inch upgrade, going ultrawide makes a lot of sense with a 5090. You’ll get more workspace, better immersion, and still great performance without the heavy 4K load. [Business Insider](https://samsung-odyssey.com/Business-Insider) featured the Samsung Odyssey G8 (34"" QD-OLED) as one of the best ultrawide picks for both gaming and everyday use, highlighting its rich color, deep contrast, and fast 175 Hz refresh rate. It’s a sweet spot between size, speed, and image quality. Perfect if you want something that really lets your 5090 stretch its legs. Basically, it’s that “just right” balance where everything looks amazing and still runs buttery smooth.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →I have the G8 OLED and it was my primary monitor for a good two years until I upgraded to the LG 45’ 5k2k. I really couldn’t complain about it and in fact having a remote for it (which the LG doesn’t have) I didn’t realize would be such a nifty feature. Visually it is a fantastic monitor and the only reason I relegated it to second fiddle was I wanted a 4k screen and a bit more balance between height to width, but both of those are personal preferences and shouldn’t stop you.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →Owner of a 49” G9 here. Have it paired up to a gaming rig with a 5080. Love the monitor, incredible features, color, and picture. OLED is undefeated. Highly recommend overall, but definitely spring for a 5090 if you want to go this direction. The 5080 really does struggle with the 32:9 aspect ratio and all the pixels.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →I’m using my base mini with a Samsung G8 OLED ultrawide 175hz refresh rate and HDR no issues
r/macmini • View on Reddit →Yeah it might just be my particular use case but idk, the ability to have proper stream quality (thanks streamers for nuking browser video quality) and Bluetooth is v nice since I don't have the space/need for a tv
r/buildapcsales • View on Reddit →Ok so I have a few Models in mind. The Samsung Odyssey OLED G8 is a really good one. Costs 650 bucks. If You want a better one with HDR tol Theres the LG UltraGear OLED 34GS95QE. That one is 800 bucks. Or comparable the Alienware AW3423DWF, wich has less refreh rate, but has more Vibtant colours, but a glossy Display wich means they LG has less reflection. That one is also 800 bucks. Those are all oleds and if You don't really need one VA's would be much cheaper, but also much worse ofc. Let me know what you think.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →youtube videos support if uploaded like that, netflix on the app within my monitor (g85sd) works perfectly fine and even works in 4k. only app ive had issues with is disney+ in which it was playing as a little square and i had to use the monitor sided fill option
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →I have G8 Odyssey Samsung with the Tizen OS and honestly those speakers are pretty good better then on my TV. It's still worse then 60$ 2.1 speakers but loud and pretty clear.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →Upgraded from a Dell 27" IPS Gsync to an Odyssey oled G8 ultra wide. I love the widescreen but dealing with bugs or non support for games is frustrating. Also not inherently a widescreen feature but the G8 is basically a smart TV which can be a huge PITA, I miss the old monitors that just worked as monitors, you turn it on with desired input and it just works.
r/pcmasterrace • View on Reddit →The g9 is nice. I have the 34 G8 , now I wish I went for the bigger one. Does it properly support the resolution or is it slightly stretched out?
r/Eve • View on Reddit →(It's not this monitor, I assume the op is referring to the g8 ultrawide which does have smart stuffs, although I personally haven't had any real issues with the smart bits)
r/buildapcsales • View on Reddit →Hey, I just got the G8 OLED, but saw this post. I’m using a MacBook Pro, but it looks like I can’t use HiDPI and retain the original resolution? Every time I’m on 3440x1440 and I try to turn on HiDPI the resolution changes down to something lower. I haven’t been able to figure it out. Would you happen to know? https://github.com/waydabber/BetterDisplay/wiki/Fully-scalable-HiDPI-desktop I saw this on the GitHub. I have an M3 Pro, so the horizontal pixel resolution limit shouldn’t be an issue for me. I’m not too familiar with BetterDisplay and honestly unsure of how to fully use it, so any help is appreciated!
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →I just bought a Samsung Odessy G8 34inch and I can't fault it. It's also like a smart TV with apps etc
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →Ah ok. I know they are 34” but not sure if they bought them on GSA or not. I’ll do some digging tomorrow and get back to you.
