Samsung - Odyssey OLED G9 Gaming Monitor G93SC

If you do go down the OLED route, go for the Samsung G93SC instead of the G95SC. [It's several $100 cheaper and the only difference is that it doesn't have the Samsung Smart TV features](https://www.reddit.com/r/buildapcmonitor/comments/1h05rux/heres_my_research_on_the_samsung_49_odyssey_oled/), which are pretty useless if you're using this truly has a monitor.

Don't get an OLED, as good as it is for gaming and movies it is bad to read texts on. Samsung odyssey g9 or lg UW dual qhd, both are great

180 imo is fine though. 200+ is for very serious competitive gamers. but i went with the g9 personally

I'm on G9 OLED. 5K2K LG doesnt have better colours so its a pass. Waiting better version of QD-OLED or something that is better than G9.

Check out the G75K 40" 5k2k. It is the cheapest 5k2k you can get for $700. If you need more screen, then the G9 is the only option.

Yes, no joke, my set up is two of these side by side. I have the odyssey 9s they are curved so much it’s literally 180, two more would be a full circle.

Not who you asked but I have a 32:9 and use my old monitor as a second over it. If you can find the G9 OLED on sale (happens pretty regularly) I highly recommend it

I'm on G9 OLED. There is currently G9 in the market and then everything else in super ultrawide category. I saw one Gigabyte one on this sub but haven't heard much about it. Plenty ultrawide options though.

I got a Samsung Odyessy OLED 49” off FBM. Not cheap to be honest, but not new price either. I love it, never had an issue. Either way you need to know what computer you will need to get the most out of it. A budget computer won’t do it and in my opinion waste of money for the monitor if you don’t. If you do look at used, make sure it doesn’t have any dead spots. Be very careful with that.

+1 for the 57” G9. I also just replaced my non-Neo 49” g9. I also highly recommend a 5090. With everything maxed on most games and DLSS + frame gen on games like cyberpunk, you will get 120+ fps, which is amazing for dual 4k with RT and path tracing

Got the same G9 like 5 months ago, but also turned it back and got a 32" AW3225QF instead Tried the 34" AW3225DF too and some other ultrawide i forgot the name of but sticked with the AW3225QF Ultrawide just isn't for me really as the wideness was too much most of the time Im really happy with the AW3225QF as it fits all my needs and everything just looks superb

I used to use mismatched tripples back in the day. With a multi gpu set up everytime I wanted to race I had to move the cables to my main gpu, turn the PC on then enable surround. It got old after a while. When I got back into it just stuck with a solo monitor till I got into VR. Recently picked up the g9 49" oled for non VR titles or when I don't want to be strapped in. Definitely less hassle. You lose some Fov, I've been messing with different settings and monitor placement to get my cockpit view not so staggered to one window or the other based on LHD or RHD vehicles. Also working on eye tracking to more naturally follow vs using wheel controls for glancing.

I went from the g9 to the 5k2k, I like the monitor but I do wish I had kept the g9 and saved £1000

Respect this makes me feel better about getting the oled. Do you do anything special to prevent burn in or just use it the way you’d use a reg monitor?

I ended up getting the 49" G9. I solve OLED and the monitor is great but ya I'd love to have a bit more vertical height. I got the g9 on a deal for $1200 CAD for the 2025 matte version which is normally $2200. So I couldn't pass it up. I couldn't find the 45" 5k in person or even in stock anywhere but if I had, it would have been tough to not get it lol

Had the g9 this summer and returned it because it was way too big and browsing was really shit Games looked good, am running a 4090 as GPU Got a AW3225QF instead because the DW was still a tad too wide for my taste

I was debating for a long time between the 49" 32x9 Samsung or the 45" 21x9 lg, I went with the 45" since it's actually bigger. Also most game recognizes the 21x9 ratio. The aspect ratio of the 49" is not as common. Also the 49" runs hot. I went to the local best buy and I can really feel the heat even in a normal functioning distance, something to be aware of.

For immersive single player games 49 is better (writing this from 49 OLED G9)

I’ve shared my feedback on other posts but will reiterate here given there aren’t many reviews or real world experience users out there to share. For context, I’ve spent the last couple of years on OLED, first the Alienware 3423dw, then the MSI mpg321urx and a Samsung G80sd. I’ve also tried (and returned) the MSI and Samsung 49 inch super ultra wides. I “downgraded” to the g75f 40 and it’s been a pleasant surprise for me. I like it way more than I thought I would and giving up perfect blacks was a lot easier to do. Part of that may be because I don’t play a lot of really dark games, but I think part of it is this monitor has really good contrast. Colors seem great and calibrating with my Calbrite went well. My use case is 80% productivity and 20% gaming, maybe 90/10 or 100/0 on really busy weeks. I can’t understate how much easier it is on my eyes after a 10 or 12 hour day of spreadsheets and legal memos. Not having to set low brightness to avoid burn in helps with that I’m sure. Not having to hide taskbars, keep a bland black background are pluses for general usability/ enjoyment. The 5k2k and 40 inch form factor feels best for productivity, and while the Dell or LG IPS monitors have more productivity features, most of their convenience is covered by my work issued thunderbolt dock. Viewing angles aren’t nearly as good comparing to OLED but in practical use I’ve not had any issues. On occasion at the farthest edge of the screen I can see slight brightness / gamma shift. But otherwise, I sit in front of my monitor and haven’t found it problematic. Overall, seems to strike the right balance of productivity, gaming, and peace of mind for my admittedly very fringe use case/needs. At $676 all in with Samsung EPP through my work, I feel like I get good value out of it. Not worth it at retail or really anything above $850 in my opinion. I know the “OLED or die” crowd will pan it as poor value and for the gaming enthusiasts/ priority buyer, I’m sure it is bad value. But if you fall in a similar use case as me, I’d recommend giving it a shot if you get it on sale, you might be surprised. Worst thing that can happen is you don’t like it and return it.

The 49 Samsung oled is nice. Everyone seems to have issues with the lg 49 matte finish and the miniled of the 57.

Exactly same feeling here. If we buy OLED panel monitors there cant be compromise in colour accuracy or vibrant tone. Sadly LG using matte coat and with WOLED its not as good as Samsung QD-OLED. I'm been using a lot HDR Mode also in games even if they dont support naturally, its still so much better than without it except few games where its messed up like D4. This is where G9 shines. Another problem is aggressive curve. Not good for productivity.

Yup, had an odyssey g9 for 3 years and just switched over to a normal 16:9 32" and omg i much prefer the vertical space. Don't miss the ultra wide at all honestly.

I mean you could always just alter the resolution of the screen temporarily for when a game doesn't support it. On the G9 at least, if you drop the resolution to 21:9 or 16:9, it stays centered, so it can function exactly as a 21:9 or 16:9 in the situation that you want/need that. It's literally no downside.

Right the samsung oddyssy g9 oled is actually prolly the best atm

32:9 1080p is basically dead, most are 1440p and with the Neo G9 we reached DUHD, but the resolution is heavy af to process

Thanks OP for doing comparison. I own G9 OLED also and i did feel that immersion in gaming Samsung got it better. The aggressive curve on LG and 4K just doesnt cut it. Games that support full UW i have huge immersion.

I have a super ultrawide which is the 32:9 version and play in windowed mode at a 16:9 aspect ratio (Link to monitor: [amazon](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CDQMQQS2)). I have found that gaming on an ultrawide isn't always the greatest. You often have to wait for ultrawide support or have to download a patch to remove the letterboxing. I will say though that when it works it works incredibly well. So only get one if you're fine running ffxiv in windowed mode (and a lot of other games) and then having the occasional life changing moment of playing something in full ultrawide that truly "gets it" like I had with helldivers 2.

Simple. 49" for mostly work yes even if its OLED, burn in is not big problem if you set up correctly in settings. 45" if you do heavy gaming thou 49 isnt bad also. I have 49" G9 oled and i do both, mostly gaming and i like less aggressive curve. Perfect for work.

Maybe I took it too far, but I replaecd a 32" 16x9 with a 49" Samsung Odyssey G9, 32x9. I liked it at first but eventually really missed the extra vertical space.   I eventually went back to 32" 16x9. 

I have a 49" odyssey G9 and I have to run it in a 3440x1440 21:9 to get the performance I want. My 4090 is showing age with the full 32:9 5760×1440 experience. This is why I wont buy monitors with too many P's or K's anymore. For now I just set the GPU to control the aspect ratio to 3440x1440 via the geforce tool. This was the one thing I hated about console gaming. Their hardware was too far behind the curb for them to be pushing 4k gaming so hard. I'd much rather have a much lower resolution with higher graphic fidelity and framerate
