I have both, i prefer the g9 as it works every time, no tweaking settings and i get a bigger fov. I do miss the depth perception and elevation changes so i understand why people can’t go back to screens. Running at 200fps is incredibly smooth and everything is clearer than you’ll ever get in vr so I’m happy with my decision.

I got the 57" G9 yesterday, upgraded from a 49" CRG9. It's funny because once it got set up it really didn't feel that much bigger in terms of physical size - but the increased vertical and horizontal resolution are AMAZING for productivity. Before - I would only be able to have two spreadsheets side by side that were actually usable for my purpose. They would have to be side by side, Now I can have 3 - which doesn't sound that impressive but makes a massive difference because now I can have one centered and two on the sides. The curve on the 57 inch is just right IMO, it's not too curved but when you're sitting in front of it - it puts the entire screen in your periphery. I have a secondary 32" 4K QD-OLED monitor that's mostly for gaming. The colors on an OLED are so much better, that this monitor looks pretty bad to me from a gaming perspective (57 inch). If you really care about the gaming experience, you could look at the LG 5K2K as it's much better tuned for that than the 57 inch, which to me is primarily a productivity monitor.

Here is what you may not know.. I have an OG Odyssey G9 (and this applies to all these super sized monitors). You will not always be running full screen real estate for all games. 1) Many games do not support UW (many Souls-like games) and you will be stuck with a central portion. Which means that your card only needs to support 1440 or 4K depending on wheter it would default back to 1440 or 4K. 2) You still have this option if your GPU cant push enough frames for your liking. 3) Many games that aren't pinnacle AAA games, you can still get a higher than expected frame rate in super ultrawide. In my opinion, getting a monitor that is base 4K ultrawide is the right choice, even with a 4080 tier or above card. In my case, I have a 7900xtx. The games I play in 5120X1440 suw have plenty of fps to spare and i usually run a frame limiter anyway. The games that don't support suw, I would rather be playing in 4K than 1440. I would get the 5K2K monitor or even the 57" Odyssey G9 monitor. The worst case scenario is you have to run in the middle, use upscaling/frame gen, or reduce options.

As others have mentioned, you should probably take a look at both in person and consider your use case. As someone with a 57, what I can tell you is that the monitor is an absolute workhorse for productivity and there really isn’t anything (in my personal experience) remotely close to it. It really depends on your priorities (gaming vs work). I may be biased, but the 57 gives you the flexibility to experience certain games in super ultra wide, and for games that don’t support the 57’s resolution, I often play the game in a windowed resolution of 3840x2160 while having space for 2 tabs (browser, app, etc.) on each side of the game. In terms of productivity and convenience, it was a no brainer for me. Best of luck on your decision, both are great monitors!

This is what I did since triples is, at best, a pain in the ass to set up for every game I wanted to play at my rig. So I got the odyssey g9 57”, and run reshade with Perspective Correction so that the curvature around the edges is flattened back out and the horizontal FOV is perfect. Now games are easy to just load up, set the resolution, and go. TLDR: if you play other games with less-than-stellar triple support, I’d recommend.

I have both. The 57" G9 has been sitting in its box in my attic since I got the LG 5K2K. The G9 gets very hot if you use HDR. Noticeably hot. 5-10° over ambient in my case. I prefer 21:9 over 32:9, but that's a person preference thing. I also really like the LG's taller profile and tighter curve for gaming. I find it a lot more immersive. The biggest factor: I *hate* blooming. But I'm very sensitive to it.

I've done triple 43" displays but ended up changing to the Samsung 57 ultra wide. Mainly due to my sim rig being powered by my everyday gaming PC, between the sim rig / desktop gaming and VR gaming. It was an insane hassle. It's best to have a separate PC if you're going to run triples. I'm more than happy with the 57 but the fov of triples can't be beat for immersion.

I am planning on making the switch from the 57" Samsung to the 45" LG. I have had the 57" since launch a couple of years ago in the US, and it was amazing to have such resolution and space. The HDR brightness is quite blinding at times when in a dark room, and finally being able to at least support 240Hz with the latest 50 series GPUs is nice. But blooming even with as many dimming zones as this screen has is still not great compared to OLED, since I play quite a few dark games, it can be quite noticeable. The smaller screen size might not be great, as I tried this once when I went from a 49" G9 Mini-LED to the 34" Alienware OLED, and I did not like the size downgrade. But seeing the LG in person at a Best Buy made it seem a bit better, and it would be as bad, so I will have to see. I am looking forward to trying it and maybe trying the dual mode functionality to see if 330Hz is worth it in games, but overall, I am looking forward to using OLED for my monitor. Also, getting a decent deal at almost $700 off made it at least worth a try for me.

Specific to the Samsung 57 Odyssey Neo G9 dual 4k UHD quantum mini led 240hz 1ms hdr 1000 curved gaming monitor HDMI 21 dp 21 USB 30 black first I love this monitor, setting it up to my needs was easy and on point. The only major issue for me as an owner is Samsung. Purchased monitor in late Jan 2025. The monitor stopped showing an image in early March 2025. So it worked for about 6 weeks. Not good for this price point but things happen. I contacted Samsung and the run around started. 10 days for a tech to come over take photos and say yup it needs a new panel and possibly some internal component. It can work with just panel replacement if not will order the additional parts. Well, that's more delays in getting it fixed. I asked Samsung if they'd just swap it out. Got more of the run around. Provided with phone numbers to other depts that don't answer or are closed. Anyway long story short. Monitor when working is great but if you have an issue it's gonna take a lot of patience and time to get it repaired. My thought at this price point you'd get quality and service to match but this is not the case. \- I owned an LG monitor that had issues and LG without second guessing simply did a home swap to quickly resolve the issue. Not sure about other manufacturers but Samsung is not proving to be a good purchase. Anyone got similar experience with Samsung and/or can provide other companies with good products and services?

I'm running the Samsung 57" with 7680 x 2160 resolution and 240hz with my 5090 card. Then again, I know the difference between HDMI 2.1 vs DP 2.1, and even amongst the DP 2.1 there are crucial differences. I even bought a VESA certified cable to ensure I would get the real deal.

Also a developer, I've returned my 57. I was deceived by the poor quality panel, scanlines and vertical bars when you face some very white screen. The local dimming turn every scene in dark like a 80s movie. A the end i've ended returning also cause a island of dead pixel poped. But yeah 32:9 is trully impresive at 57", saddly quality isn't at rendez-vous

I had both and returned the Samsung and kept the LG. It's better usable screen real estate than the 57". The 57" is just too wide and you'll be moving your head a lot especially in FPS gaming. The LG monitor just ends where your pheripheral vision ends so it's nice. The extra vertical space is greatly appreciated too.

Oh ya, that one is also IPS. MiniLED are almost always VA panels as far as I know. My second monitor is IPS and the black levels really are shit, though it is an old one without local dimming. VA naturally has much better blacks, just much worse pixel response. But ya also no where near as bad as the old VAs. My buddy has the monitor being discussed here and it is pretty nice but def does have issues. The viewing angles are brutal and it washes out pretty fast even a bit off center. Like if you stand up heh. And I can't see it in your picture but in person I definitely noticed fairly siginifigant blooming, but maybe I'm just sensitive to it. I really noticed it around subtitles when watching movies. Or around the mouse on a black screen. This was the I think older G95NA one though I think they have a newer neo g9 out that does a bit better. Basically fantastic monitors for sure. But you def don't have to pixel peep to see the better colors and contrast of OLED.

I really appreciate this approach to user/product review! The ultrawide sweet spot is gonna vary on aspect. 32:9 already has a sweet spot with the Samsung 57 7k2k. I wish it was OLED but that's it. I think LG is so close with the gx9 in that 45" 5k2k. Having seen the 1440p version at Best buy only months before. That size is fantastic. The PPI is amazing. I don't know enough about if dual mode requires a 2:1 pixel map but if I could get 240hz 1440 and greater than or equal to 144hz 5k2k on a single 45” 21:9 OLED I don't think I'd upgrade until 10k4k 45" became a thing. As it stands, more options around curvature, panel coating, dual mode or not (for cost reasons), and built in speakers would be really nice at the 45" 21:9. I really hope this panel size is here to stay.

I’ve got 3 49 inch ultra wides between home and office. The g9 neo is superior for coding and I prefer the more drastic curve. Then I have 2x g9 oleds stacked at home. Curve is pretty flat and text is more difficult to get used to then the g9 neo and I feel like the colors aren’t as natural as the g9 neo but the colors are definitely sharper and better blacks and they stacked better with the lesser curve, however text was straight up rough when getting used to it and tuning it in. If it was do it all single ultra wide I’d prob go regular g9 Neo 57. Not really 2025 models but though the insight might be worth sharing.

I have a 49" odyssey G9 and I have to run it in a 3440x1440 21:9 to get the performance I want. My 4090 is showing age with the full 32:9 5760×1440 experience. This is why I wont buy monitors with too many P's or K's anymore. For now I just set the GPU to control the aspect ratio to 3440x1440 via the geforce tool. This was the one thing I hated about console gaming. Their hardware was too far behind the curb for them to be pushing 4k gaming so hard. I'd much rather have a much lower resolution with higher graphic fidelity and framerate

the Samsung 57" Neo G9 is a legitimate “one monitor to rule them all” choice. If you want a more conservative but still powerful setup that keeps ergonomics simple and text razor-sharp, the Gigabyte M32U plus your existing side monitors (or a second M32U later) is the most balanced alternative: 32? 4K IPS, 144 Hz, and a mature KVM implementation tuned exactly for dual-PC work/gaming like yours.

As someone who has used 21:9 since 2015 and upgraded to 32:9 this year… I would agree. 32:9 is amazing for games that support it but it’s REALLY fish eyed at the ends of the screen. Don’t get me wrong I’m never going back to 21:9 because 32:9 is so much better for everything else but gaming specifically I think 21:9 is optimal. Sometimes I’ll play at 21:9 on my G9 57 actually.
