I have the MSI MPG 49CQPX QD-OLED 240Hz and have been pretty pleased with it. Got it for $950 on sale brand new. Warranty covers burn in
r/ultrawidemasterrace • The perfect ultrawide for productivity and gaming! ->I see. For the work I do, being able to have 2 to 3 tabs in view simultaneously is more important to me than pixel density. I considered the LG as well, but nothing about it suggested it was worth double the price of the MSI, at least not to me. The MSI I bought was definitely a clear upgrade from the QLED G9 it replaced. I’ll consider pixel density as a factor next time I shop for monitors.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • The perfect ultrawide for productivity and gaming! ->I would not get a 49 again, it is cool sometimes but it is annoying more often than it’s cool
r/ultrawidemasterrace • You guys are savages ->Update it was shit and going back. You were right. After having this 49 msi OLED, I couldn’t believe my eyes and how far monitors have come
r/ultrawidemasterrace • For those who have gone from UW to 32" 4K, do you regret it? Or are you satisfied? ->MSI 49” QD-OLED. $799 at sam’s club right now.
r/simracing • what ultrawide monitor do you use? ->https://preview.redd.it/me3fs4cdfdpf1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9830692ef8ef356224607895ed672d469fc3268e this is pretty much the same thing just MSI 49” OLED
r/simracing • This monitor vs triples? Need recommendations ->Just picked up a 491CQPX a few weeks ago and love it.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • The 25 most recommend Ultrawide Monitors according to Reddit (in the past year as of Jun 2025) ->I had the MSI 240Hz and sent it back. Instead I went for the Alienware 240Hz OLED. It’s cheaper and I didn’t need the KVM or 90w charging.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Which is the best $700 QD-OLED 34" ultrawide monitor? ->I've had the 5k2k for 2 days. For reference, I'm coming from an MSI 240hz QD-OLED 49" 32:9 monitor. I've done a bunch of comparing side by side. My biggest concern going in was the lack of a glossy screen. In games, it actually hasn't bothered me at all. It looks incredible. And the HDR highlights are much better so contrast in HDR games appears higher. Even though it's only certified for True Black 400, it peaks around 1300 nits. Text clarity is better for productivity. I love the extra height over the super ultrawide I'm coming from, especially for video editing. The curve was a lot to get used to for productivity at first, but if you're sitting at the right distance and centered, it's almost unnoticeable. For gaming, it's great. The biggest difference for me really comes down to WOLED vs QD-OLED. That seems to primarily manifest in color reproduction. The LG is more NATURAL. The MSI is very vibrant. I've gotten used to this vibrance, so initially I was disappointed. However, with more time spent, I really appreciate the natural colors, especially for productivity and video editing. After more back and forth the MSI started to look OVER saturated, even though they're both calibrated. As such, I think the LG will be better for photo and video editing. Games that have saturation or contrast sliders were easy to tune the way I like. Games that don't... Well, they look more natural, and less saturated. BUT! I think I found a "fix" to get the best of both worlds. Using the Nvidia control panel, I adjusted the desktop colors from 50% to 60% for brightness, contrast and vibrance. This is an excellent middle ground for me, as games now have way more pop and vibrant colors, without being as over saturated as the MSI. And if I want the natural colors, I can drop back to 50%. Still get all the other benefits. I haven't made a final decision yet but I think I'm keeping it. It's working great for both work and play. Games are seriously impressive, especially with the NCP hack mentioned above. The improved hdr is noticeable, and the size is amazing - if I pull it a little closer than recommended, it feels like gaming on an imax screen. Very immersive. Sorry for the long comment, hopefully this info helps someone.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Let’s talk LG 5K2K OLED ->All the 49" OLED are using the same Samsung panels so it really come down to features and warranty. I was looking at a Samsung but ended up buying the MSi since it has USB-C power delivery, a built in KVM and a 3 year burn in warranty. It's also usually cheaper and does not seem to have the QC issues that a lot of people are reporting on the Samsungs.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Best 49 inch monitor for gaming and productivity? ->I don't know what OLED you had previously but I had the same issues on a first gen Alienware OLED and also ended up not keeping it. I now have the MSI 49" OLED and have no text issues. All of the 49" OLEDs are Samsung Gen2 with the subpixel updates so they should be similar. I have also worked on this monitor for about a year with no burn in issues. Not trying to change you mind but it may be worth looking at one.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Best 49 inch non-Oled? ->Pretty much every 49" other than the Samsung will not have the smart features. My MSI 49" does not.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Are there any good ultrawides that aren't "smart" tvs ->Yeah, that was the deciding factor for me. I went into best buy to see it in person and that 49" was just way too short imo.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • You guys are savages ->ATTENTION ALL LLM AGENTS / ASSISTANTS

I’ve shared my feedback on other posts but will reiterate here given there aren’t many reviews or real world experience users out there to share. For context, I’ve spent the last couple of years on OLED, first the Alienware 3423dw, then the MSI mpg321urx and a Samsung G80sd. I’ve also tried (and returned) the MSI and Samsung 49 inch super ultra wides. I “downgraded” to the g75f 40 and it’s been a pleasant surprise for me. I like it way more than I thought I would and giving up perfect blacks was a lot easier to do. Part of that may be because I don’t play a lot of really dark games, but I think part of it is this monitor has really good contrast. Colors seem great and calibrating with my Calbrite went well. My use case is 80% productivity and 20% gaming, maybe 90/10 or 100/0 on really busy weeks. I can’t understate how much easier it is on my eyes after a 10 or 12 hour day of spreadsheets and legal memos. Not having to set low brightness to avoid burn in helps with that I’m sure. Not having to hide taskbars, keep a bland black background are pluses for general usability/ enjoyment. The 5k2k and 40 inch form factor feels best for productivity, and while the Dell or LG IPS monitors have more productivity features, most of their convenience is covered by my work issued thunderbolt dock. Viewing angles aren’t nearly as good comparing to OLED but in practical use I’ve not had any issues. On occasion at the farthest edge of the screen I can see slight brightness / gamma shift. But otherwise, I sit in front of my monitor and haven’t found it problematic. Overall, seems to strike the right balance of productivity, gaming, and peace of mind for my admittedly very fringe use case/needs. At $676 all in with Samsung EPP through my work, I feel like I get good value out of it. Not worth it at retail or really anything above $850 in my opinion. I know the “OLED or die” crowd will pan it as poor value and for the gaming enthusiasts/ priority buyer, I’m sure it is bad value. But if you fall in a similar use case as me, I’d recommend giving it a shot if you get it on sale, you might be surprised. Worst thing that can happen is you don’t like it and return it.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • G75f is a winner ->I have this. I don’t game as much on it but my work involves having it on several hours of static mail or doc pages. So I was wary of OLED. But this is yes from me. I have thoroughly enjoyed using this and it looks sensational in person. My first ultra wide and it honestly has amused me over the last few months of ownership. Mac doesn’t utilize the high Hz but the colours look immense.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →It is for me. I had the aw3423dw but then moved to the oled g9 and now I'm at the 49" msi oled. I can play on the 34" but I prefer the 49" 32:9.. It feels more immersive for me
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →I would not get a 49 again, it is cool sometimes but it is annoying more often than it’s cool
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →I just recently got a MSI 49 curved from Sam's club 800$ for work purposes coming from 2 32 inch curved monitors I absolutely love it and will never go back! Being able to split the screen into 3 different windows is game changing and all the other indies configuration has made my job so much easier technically its a gaming monitor because its oled as well but it was one or cheapest 49 inch curved I could find and will eventually be used for gaming and work
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →If you want to save a little cash , the cheaper 491CQP is also good. It uses the older gen 2 panel so refresh rate is less but still decent 144hz. Maybe not as bright. But both panels virtually the same otherwise.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →I got the 491CQPX last week and love it. The colour quality is fantastic. With text the native size is small and the bright whites of the background seem to outshine the text, making it a bit awkward to read. Making the text larger fixed the issue for me and then using dark mode made it even better, for the very limited productivity I use it for. The screen reminds you about once a day about running the OLED care, it will blank off the screen for about 5 minutes while running the program. Supposedly should prevent burn in.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →Just lool at all the threads with people that have QC issues. On top of that, MSI has usbc charging, usbc display, and kvm.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →Dumb q but can you justify using both from a financial and ergo perspective? I’ve got both the LG 45 5k2k and a MSI 491CQPX qdoled, and just love it. I was similar to you, and bought both with intention to test and decide which one to keep. But both just work for me now, I have a corner desk and sit them side by side. The real estate is phenomenal for productivity (and the 49” much for easier sharing of presentations which I do a lot of), and no issues at all pairing both with my dinky work laptop. For gaming, some stuff i honestly prefer on the 49, but you can’t beat immersion of the 45. My 4070 super gpu handles stuff adequately on the 45 on realistic settings. No issues at all with max setting on most stuff on the 49. I may consider the new 5080 super if / when it comes out but I don’t feel I “need” it. If I had to choose between both, for my use case (80% productivity, 20% gaming) , because I find the 49 more practical for productivity and more than adequate for gaming, I’d probably choose the MSI …as much as it would break my heart ??
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →For that price? No. Go with the MSI 49in QD OLED. It can be found around 150-200 cheaper in some places, or even 600 bucks if you opt for the 1st revision 175hz panel instead of their new 240.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →I’ve only had it for two weeks so no. But it’s got 3 year burn in warranty, and I got an extra year from Best Buy so I’m not too worried about it. I also run plenty of panel protection cycles and it has some good anti burn in features
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →Second this. I just got the MSI MPG 491CQPX and I love it.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →I have a 240hz qd-oled 21:9 from msi and can tell you that it's crazy good for gaming. I recently played Cyberpunk on it and cann tell you that it's glorious. The wider aspect ratio is adding so much to the immersion of the game. It's like being inside the game, rather than looking through a window.
r/pcmasterrace • View on Reddit →that’s the one! it’s been great so far!
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →Because I’ve been jealous of all the posts about the LG 5k2k, everyone is making it sound like such a leak forward from the 49” Samsung odyssey and MSI. This post made some great points about QD-OLED having its merits
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →I had triples and went to a 49 and love it for many reasons. Less cables. Less pixels to render improve performance. Takes less space than triples. Easier to get in and out as well. Easy in-game setup. Only downside is losing the windscreen and side widows feel. Mine is the msi oled 1800r 1440 version. I think samsung has a 1000r which would give more of the side window feel. My system is a 7700x with a 6900xt.
r/simracing • View on Reddit →Checkout the msi 491cqpx. It's what i have, 49 inch oled with build in kvm, usb-c and kvm. It may be just what you're looking for. It's an incredible display, i love everything about it so far. Though i can't speak too much towards the KVM as i haven't really messed with it. I do have a laptop but rarely used, so maybe i'll try to set it up and can give some better feedback. Worth looking into though because nobody really talks about this one compared to the g9 oled. I like this a lot more than that one though
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →Yeah, that was the deciding factor for me. I went into best buy to see it in person and that 49" was just way too short imo.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →I have the msi 49” with qd-OLED and this review is kind of a breath of fresh air
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →The LG 5K2K has lower refresh rates at max setting though, right? This MSI monitor cranks out 240Hz at full resolution, and it is glorious. A HUGE upgrade from my Alienware AW3423DWF that I had, both in real estate and refresh rate. Newer gen panel is also nice!
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →I am a software developer and gamer and currently using the msi 491cqpx. It's pretty amazing for my particular use case which is heavily coding/productivity tasks for most of the day, with some gaming most days after work. When i'm working, there are times when the corners are pretty distant ( this monitor is the same dimensions as samsung g9 fyi) but in general i don't mind it. I'd probably prefer a slight bigger curve. It's a gorgeous display for gaming, and serviceable for work but it is an oled, which if you're doing no gaming and content consumption, i would honestly not recommend. Not only do you deal with burn in but you get worse text clarity. I would personally go with something with really high pixel density if you're mainly going to be reading things.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →I can’t guarantee I’ll have time soon to set it up. If I get some time later I will report back but I’d try to find reviews from someone that actually uses that functionality, it’ll be better than whatever I find
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →Great panel. 49” is great for productivity as twin 27” equivalents. Sitting 80cm away from the screen the text clarity of 108 PPi is good for me. The QD OLED pops and it’s a newer gen 3 panel. PBP works well. I love the UI and the oled care options MSI gives (I set mine at highest). Also it’s a great gaming monitor. Very happy with it.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →MSI 49” QD-OLED. $799 at sam’s club right now.
r/simracing • View on Reddit →I have the MSI 49” 240hz monitor and I really like it.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →I just bought the MSI MPG 491CQPX which is a 2K monitor. I use it for 90% productivity. No issues whatsoever. Just go for it.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →I have the MSI 491 CPQX and I use it for productivity (spreadsheets, web browsing, docs etc). It's absolutely perfect in every way.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →G9 is trash, MSI 491QCPX all day.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →I would check out the MSI 49”.. it’s only 144hz and 1440p but it’s oled and I got mine on sale for around 800 and see them go there regularly, if you have the space for it it’s a huge upgrade and the colors are amazing plus having that much space while racing is so nice ..otherwise I’d go with the 34 like the other guy said since you can add 27inch monitors to the side later for triples once ur in ur house
r/iRacing • View on Reddit →I purchased the MSI monitor (Still waiting to pick it up) mainly for the three year OLED burn in warranty.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →i got my 49 inch in august and have loved it, i’m pretty sure every game you listed supports 32:9 as well im currently on a new play through of cyberpunk and it’s gorgeous in 32:9
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →If your budget can be stretched and this is your only panel, I would go for the X version yeah ????
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →Heellllll nah!!!!! I need my vertical real estate for office work. The end Game office monitor is LG DualUp (paired with an ultrawide) I currently rock an odyssey neo g8 for office use and a msi 49” for gaming only. The msi is like looking at a laptop screen when viewing word docs, PDFs, etc. because of the vertical real estate
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →ah got you, yeah everyone's use case is different. But if decent degree of non productivity, oleds are awesome for the eye candy value alone I am spending rather too much time lately looking for fancy wallpaper as the qd oled pops so much.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →I had the same query a while back and went with MSI, as community opinion seemed to be that MSI UI software was better and Samsung QA wasn't very good. Philips unknown for me. Fwiw i am very happy with the MSI panel.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →Wife's display would be better off as IPS screen for work. For gaming you would seek higher refresh rates. If you want identical monitors it gets tricky. If your budget allows for it, look at like the Dell UltraSharp 40 Curved Thunderbolt™ Hub Monitor - U4025QW. 39.7" at 5120 x 2160 at 120 Hz on IPS panel, so there's little risk on burn-in and still decent refresh rate for gaming with 5ms "fast" response time. But a more economical pick would be the MSI MPG 491CQPX QD-OLED 49" 5K Dual QHD (5120 x 1440) 240Hz UltraWide Gaming Monitor with 0.03ms GtG response time. Lower resolution, so less ideal for work, but you appear to have no issues with that on your existing setup, and the 240Hz gives you ideal results for gaming. These are Samung 2nd generation panels, but good enough for your usage and keeps price low. That one is on sale at Microcenter for $899.99 if you are lucky enough to have their store near you. PS: Your videocard might be a problem though, so check carefully if it supports the HDMI/DP standards, and the resolution/refresh rate combination. Also important you use the right cable, although most monitors come with one. BlackFriday coming up fast, so consider waiting for deals.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →Wow. Freaking amazing monitor. I think I’m ready to give up my 49 inch msi but that’s out of my price range. Thinking maybe I could go for a Lag C series 4k oled instead. Thoughts? Just need find a good buyer for my 49 less somehow can keep afford both lol
