I got the MSI 491CQP as my first OLED monitor for $749 at Sam's Club about a week ago
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Best Gaming Monitor Right Now? ->Yeah, that was the deciding factor for me. I went into best buy to see it in person and that 49" was just way too short imo.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • You guys are savages ->I would not get a 49 again, it is cool sometimes but it is annoying more often than it’s cool
r/ultrawidemasterrace • You guys are savages ->I’ve shared my feedback on other posts but will reiterate here given there aren’t many reviews or real world experience users out there to share. For context, I’ve spent the last couple of years on OLED, first the Alienware 3423dw, then the MSI mpg321urx and a Samsung G80sd. I’ve also tried (and returned) the MSI and Samsung 49 inch super ultra wides. I “downgraded” to the g75f 40 and it’s been a pleasant surprise for me. I like it way more than I thought I would and giving up perfect blacks was a lot easier to do. Part of that may be because I don’t play a lot of really dark games, but I think part of it is this monitor has really good contrast. Colors seem great and calibrating with my Calbrite went well. My use case is 80% productivity and 20% gaming, maybe 90/10 or 100/0 on really busy weeks. I can’t understate how much easier it is on my eyes after a 10 or 12 hour day of spreadsheets and legal memos. Not having to set low brightness to avoid burn in helps with that I’m sure. Not having to hide taskbars, keep a bland black background are pluses for general usability/ enjoyment. The 5k2k and 40 inch form factor feels best for productivity, and while the Dell or LG IPS monitors have more productivity features, most of their convenience is covered by my work issued thunderbolt dock. Viewing angles aren’t nearly as good comparing to OLED but in practical use I’ve not had any issues. On occasion at the farthest edge of the screen I can see slight brightness / gamma shift. But otherwise, I sit in front of my monitor and haven’t found it problematic. Overall, seems to strike the right balance of productivity, gaming, and peace of mind for my admittedly very fringe use case/needs. At $676 all in with Samsung EPP through my work, I feel like I get good value out of it. Not worth it at retail or really anything above $850 in my opinion. I know the “OLED or die” crowd will pan it as poor value and for the gaming enthusiasts/ priority buyer, I’m sure it is bad value. But if you fall in a similar use case as me, I’d recommend giving it a shot if you get it on sale, you might be surprised. Worst thing that can happen is you don’t like it and return it.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • G75f is a winner ->Update it was shit and going back. You were right. After having this 49 msi OLED, I couldn’t believe my eyes and how far monitors have come
r/ultrawidemasterrace • For those who have gone from UW to 32" 4K, do you regret it? Or are you satisfied? ->MSI 49” QD-OLED. $799 at sam’s club right now.
r/simracing • what ultrawide monitor do you use? ->https://preview.redd.it/me3fs4cdfdpf1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9830692ef8ef356224607895ed672d469fc3268e this is pretty much the same thing just MSI 49” OLED
r/simracing • This monitor vs triples? Need recommendations ->I got the same one man enjoy! Mine running off of a 9070xt nitro!
r/ultrawidemasterrace • You guys are savages ->MSI MPG491CQP range is amazing!

I just bought that MSI refurbished for $650 so if it's really only a few months old for $500 that is a great deal. I'm loving it so I would highly recommend over the Samsung.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Best Ultrawide for Work Productivity? ->I was looking at the Samsungs but read about too many issues and could not find one for the right price anyway. I ended up buying an MSI 491CQP and love it so far. They also have a 240hz model but this one at 144hz was fine for me.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Looking to switch from two 27" monitors to 1 ultrawide. What is the best and closest size similar to having both? ->I purchased that MSI about a month ago and love it. There is a newer 240hz version as well but I don't have a 5090 so I'm not worried about it. It is the same panel as the Samsungs (all the 49" OLEDs are) but has more features like the USBC power delivery and KVM. It also has a 3 year burn in warranty.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • 5120x1440 Ultrawide recommendations ->I was looking at the Samsungs but someone posted this and I jumped on it at the price. So far I'm enjoying it a lot and OLED is a huge upgrade.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • 5120x1440 Ultrawide recommendations ->I have the MSI model you listed and love it so far. Using it for work and gaming. The burn-in is far less of an issue on the newer panels as they have multiple protections and the MSI also has a 3 year burn in warranty. As long as you are ok making a few adjustments (I made made my taskbar transparent and set it to sleep after 5 minutes ) then you will be fine. There are YouTube videos where they have done long term tests using worst case settings and had minimal burn in.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Need help picking a 49"curved (gaming) monitor ->All the 49" OLED are using the same Samsung panels so it really come down to features and warranty. I was looking at a Samsung but ended up buying the MSi since it has USB-C power delivery, a built in KVM and a 3 year burn in warranty. It's also usually cheaper and does not seem to have the QC issues that a lot of people are reporting on the Samsungs.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Best 49 inch monitor for gaming and productivity? ->Clarity on just about all the 49" OLED will be the same as they are all using the same Samsung panel. I have not had issue on my MSI. I use it for work every day.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Which 49 inch UW is best for business, emphasis is on text clarity. ->MPG 491CQP
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Which 49 inch UW is best for business, emphasis is on text clarity. ->I have worked from home on my 491CQP and it has worked well for me but I also use it for gaming a fair bit as well. No burn in issue but an OLED is also not going to benefit much for productivity.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Thought on MSI 491cqpx for Productivity ->No, I totally agree that burn in is overrated and not an issue. I work on mine almost every day and have had no issue. What im saying is a lot of productivity work won't really benefit from an OLED over a less expensive panel.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Thought on MSI 491cqpx for Productivity ->True, even just the totally black windows are nice and it's amazing that I can't see any backlight bleeding in the dark. I love the OLED and it has made me not want to use any other monitors now.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Thought on MSI 491cqpx for Productivity ->You don't need the X for Gsync, I have the 144hz model and I can enable it.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Thought on MSI 491cqpx for Productivity ->I don't know what OLED you had previously but I had the same issues on a first gen Alienware OLED and also ended up not keeping it. I now have the MSI 49" OLED and have no text issues. All of the 49" OLEDs are Samsung Gen2 with the subpixel updates so they should be similar. I have also worked on this monitor for about a year with no burn in issues. Not trying to change you mind but it may be worth looking at one.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Best 49 inch non-Oled? ->I'm not sure if you are trying to avoid OLED but check out the MSI 491CQP or the 491CQPX. Both have power delivery and KVM. I work on mine and have had no issues with burn in.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Is there a better 32:9 monitor for productivity than U4924DW? ->I have loved my MSI 491CQP. It's an Samsung panel (all of the 49" OLEDs are) so it will be similar to the G9 but with more features like USB-C power delivery and KVM as well as a better burn in warranty. If you want 240hz there is the 491CQPX but 144hz has been fine for me. No burn in issues after a year and no complaints so far.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Looking for ultrawide recommendations ->Pretty much every 49" other than the Samsung will not have the smart features. My MSI 49" does not.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Are there any good ultrawides that aren't "smart" tvs ->Have the same monitor. Its great.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Looking for ultrawide recommendations ->Yeah, that was the deciding factor for me. I went into best buy to see it in person and that 49" was just way too short imo.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →MSI MPG 491CQP QD-OLED has been solid for me. It was $699 at Sam's Club a few weeks ago. I've seen it go down to that price a few times. I got it when Rakuten had 15% Cashback back at Sam's and effectively paid $600.

r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →hes right though, wait for a sale. wait for black friday. I wouldn't get anything else. Actually, if you did need a cheaper model then I would recommend these but they are out of stock. If you look around or wait, they are constantly cheaper. IT WILL BE BLURRY WHILE RACING. GET AN OLED SUPER ULTRAWIDE ALWAYS.
r/simracing • View on Reddit →I had triples and went to a 49 and love it for many reasons. Less cables. Less pixels to render improve performance. Takes less space than triples. Easier to get in and out as well. Easy in-game setup. Only downside is losing the windscreen and side widows feel. Mine is the msi oled 1800r 1440 version. I think samsung has a 1000r which would give more of the side window feel. My system is a 7700x with a 6900xt.
r/simracing • View on Reddit →I'm not OP, I gave up on 49" (the MSI model listed by OP was my favourite) due to the inability to split it properly (game+internet/movie requires either windowed, or 2 cables with loss of gsync/hdr/hz) and the too anecdotal curve (1800R). I ended up buying LG 34" Oled (see my flair), and now I want to make sure I don't burn it. It's a 2024 model like the MSI but doesn't seem to have as much protection as MSI. I set my other monitor (non-oled, for now one of my dell u2415, soon probably a LG 27GS60QC) as the main, and it holds the taskbar as well as all desktop icons. The Oled either displays wallpaper (switching every 20 minutes because I set 10 & Windows is dumb and switches 1 monitor at a time) or games. Games include static UI (don't they all have some anyway ?!), MMO (gw2) or not (Hogwarts Legacy atm), but never for long uninterrupted periods, as loading screens or opening the map happen on a regular basis.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →Wow. Freaking amazing monitor. I think I’m ready to give up my 49 inch msi but that’s out of my price range. Thinking maybe I could go for a Lag C series 4k oled instead. Thoughts? Just need find a good buyer for my 49 less somehow can keep afford both lol

r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →I just recently got a MSI 49 curved from Sam's club 800$ for work purposes coming from 2 32 inch curved monitors I absolutely love it and will never go back! Being able to split the screen into 3 different windows is game changing and all the other indies configuration has made my job so much easier technically its a gaming monitor because its oled as well but it was one or cheapest 49 inch curved I could find and will eventually be used for gaming and work

r/simracing • View on Reddit →At the price I got it for absolutely! Rn they're both about the same tho. Just keep in mind the G91SD has a matte finish and MSI MPG 491CQP is glossy. But ya Samsung's definitely hit or miss. And I hear their support is pretty malicious even when in warranty.

r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →Because I’ve been jealous of all the posts about the LG 5k2k, everyone is making it sound like such a leak forward from the 49” Samsung odyssey and MSI. This post made some great points about QD-OLED having its merits

r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →I just got a 49 inch MSI MPG 491CQPS ultawide monitor and I can't stop laughing at how wide it is.. You 57 inch people disgust me!
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →Heellllll nah!!!!! I need my vertical real estate for office work. The end Game office monitor is LG DualUp (paired with an ultrawide) I currently rock an odyssey neo g8 for office use and a msi 49” for gaming only. The msi is like looking at a laptop screen when viewing word docs, PDFs, etc. because of the vertical real estate
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →I would check out the MSI 49”.. it’s only 144hz and 1440p but it’s oled and I got mine on sale for around 800 and see them go there regularly, if you have the space for it it’s a huge upgrade and the colors are amazing plus having that much space while racing is so nice ..otherwise I’d go with the 34 like the other guy said since you can add 27inch monitors to the side later for triples once ur in ur house
r/iRacing • View on Reddit →I would not get a 49 again, it is cool sometimes but it is annoying more often than it’s cool

r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →For that price? No. Go with the MSI 49in QD OLED. It can be found around 150-200 cheaper in some places, or even 600 bucks if you opt for the 1st revision 175hz panel instead of their new 240.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →Ok, the 144Hz model. I was looking at this at Sam’s Club to replace my work display with one that is good for gaming and work BUT… I’m afraid of burn in though. With 8 hour work days OLED might not be thee best idea. I have a Dell U3421WE for work right now but it’s not a gaming monitor. I was going to replace it with that MSI you have or just keep my Dell for work and buy the MSI MPG 321URX 32” 4K OLED and use that just for my gaming PC.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →that’s the one! it’s been great so far!
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →Apart from refresh rate, these monitors will perform very closely and I wouldn't pay a premium for Samsung. I'd go with the cheaper one. There's a MSI 144hz OLED which also usually goes cheap and it is essentially the same as Gigabyte and Asus. Samsung G9's fame for sim racing doesn't come from their 1800R OLED, it comes from their exclusive 1000R VA. Despite having a much inferior panel, the deep 1000R curve makes it more immersive for sim racing and provides a bigger FOV, so it's still an option I'd consider. But when it comes to OLED, all monitors in this size are 1800R, so they're pretty much equivalent across brands. For sim racing, IMO a 49" ultrawide is superior to a big TV. TV's are flat and usually you can't mount them as close to your face as you wish. Both these factors greatly reduce horizontal FOV. They also leave kind of a big footprint in the room. I like how an ultrawide is even more effective than a 55ish TV while also being more compact.
r/simracing • View on Reddit →Likewise! Great buy indeed. Love this monitor.
