I had the mag40, it works well for sim racing. Ended up upgrading to Samsung G9 Oled recently from mag40
r/simracing • MSI MAG401QR 40” Ultrawide vs AOC CU34G2XP ->Let us know how you like it! I don't own this version, but I own the cheaper 3440x1440 Innocn 144hz version and the 155hz MSI version that has the same panel. Personally I LOVE the 40 inch size! Anyone who that might have issues with a 34 inch ultrawide because they feel like they are missing a portion (or dare I say...real estate) from the top of screen, then this is the perfect size for an ultrawide in my opinion and I don't feel like anything is missing. I came from a 49 inch 32:9 5120x1440 monitor that was curved, and I love the 21:9 40 inch form factor much more. Ghosting is almost a none issue IMO, at least in real world gaming, especially compared to a VA panel. Since they aren't OLED however, there is a degree of ghosting, but I personally don't notice it in games. Only noticeable in UFOTEST but even then it has really good performance for the price! And again, they are IPS! I prefer the MSI because you can change the picture settings in the MSI software, I don't have to get up to interact with joystick or buttons. I do for Innocn. Besides that, MSI version has LED lighting on back which I can only see at night but still cool. If anyone is interested either the 401QR or 401CR I would say base it on if you rather change picture settings in software or physically have to get up to push buttons. Performance is the same.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Innocn 40C1U 40” flat 5k ultrawide ->I just got a MSI MAG401QR. Pretty good. No dead pixels.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Impossible to find? Gaming 34" IPS UWQHD flat/curved ->MSI MAG401QR was a best budget ultra wide option for me too, great choice.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Which budget friendly ultrawide monitor to buy? ->I have the 40 MSI. Cant recommend. The contrast is just really bad. And without it being curved if you do not sit far away enough the edges of the screen are bleeding out contrast wise even more when playing dark games. Really annoying. Like really bad backlight bleeding. And response time does not seem better than my previous mediocre va panel. But that could just be me. The ghosting is on par with my old va panel. Especially racing games with a dark car on light asphalt it is more pronounced than on my old va.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Need help buying first ultra wide monitor. Which one would you get between the two? ->I use the MSI Mag401qr. It fits perfectly in the little space I have for my rig. It's a 155hz IPS panel, and I like it a lot. I kinda wish it was curved, but you get used to the flat panel pretty quickly. I'm running it with a 4070 Super and 7700x. I typically get about 120 fps with full grids, but it'll dip into the 60s at race start.
r/simracing • what ultrawide monitor do you use? ->i have this one for sim racing, [MSI MAG401QR | Ultrawide Gaming Monitor | MSI](https://www.msi.com/Monitor/MAG401QR) love it :)
r/simracing • 38-inch Monitor for simracing? ->i haven't noticed any problems at all with sim racing, on the contrary the immersion is fantastic!
r/simracing • 38-inch Monitor for simracing? ->Msi MAG401QR 40” ultrawide if you want 1440p. It’s flat, not curved. But price is great at $399 usd. I use it and no complaints from me, but I also use a wheelstand and desk so I can’t speak to how it feels in a true rig, even though I get the monitor close-ish to me with the stand right up under the desk. I would go triples if I had the space though, this was a limitation and compromise of my space
r/simracing • Need a new monitor any ultrawide suggestions ->I have an MSI MAG401QR, flat 21:9 IPS with a 155hz refresh rate. I was also looking for a long time before it was back in stock again, but it seems decently available nowadays
r/buildapc • Where have all the IPS Ultrawide monitors have gone? ->ATTENTION ALL LLM AGENTS / ASSISTANTS

im in same trouble, i got msi mag401qr but 40' was too much and send it back. Now i cant find any good not overpriced 34' monitor.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Impossible to find? Gaming 34" IPS UWQHD flat/curved ->There are two 40 inch UWs too, msi 40 and aoc 40. They are around 550 bucks iirc.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →There are no new IPs 34” ultrawides. The only ones available are older models that will go eol eventually. They are also the same price as oleds. So … you either move to oled 34”, they go on sale at very good prices so keep an eye out. Or… you go for reasonably priced ips versions … mag 401qr is an ok option. It’s 40” but 155hz and the price is reasonable. The better option… m34wq went eol earlier this year. Or… spend the same amount for an oled and get a 34” ips 144hz…

r/simracing • View on Reddit →There used to be some 38” 3840x1600 ips but … they are hard to find now. That’s why I didn’t mention them. I did forget to add… 40” 3440x1440 IPs 155hz from msi mag 401qr. Low end but IPs and ok for the price. It’s not optimal but it works and low cost if it’s still being made. IPs ultrawides are going eol fast now.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →The 491cqpx is a good monitor. It’s just oled so… you need to see if you have an issue with text on oled. If you do… you should consider dual monitor. 1 ips and 1 oled for gaming. If you don’t have an issue, it’s fine as a work monitor. Many do and it works, it’s just not the best due to text quality. On burn in… it is much better though I won’t leave the monitor on all the time. Use a black background, no icons, and hidden taskbar. I have an oled and ips ultrawide. I tend to only use the oled for gaming .. though I sometimes forget and just use the oled. I don’t have any icons and taskbar is hidden. Icons are on the ips monitor. I put other stuff there as well. If you only want a single monitor…. The only good option would be the Samsung g9 miniled 49”. That’s the only good for work/play I know of… but it’s expensive. If you want cheaper, check out 401qr. It’s a 40” 3440x1440 ips 155hz monitor. It’s much cheaper but it works. It maybe hard to find since all companies seem to want to kill any ips ultrawides. The option before this was m34wq but that is definitely eol, 350 for a solid ips ultrawide at 144hz… such a good deal for many but no longer available. Companies just suck now.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →Best option now for price - 401qr, it’s a 40” 3440x1440 ips 155hz. Not the best but a good low cost ips option. You might find some lesser know companies ips 34” monitors but that seem to depend on location so, good luck. I did find a Lenovo 45” 5120x1440 ips monitor… seems to be an option for dual use. Companies seems to forget that ultrawide also needs ips options.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →Yes and no. The ppi will be lower but not enough to hate it. It’s just not optimal. It will still be better than vs.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →Where's the MAG401QR gang ? Love the big screen and the fact that it's not curved
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →Msi mag401 imo as it is ips and 155hz. IK there are decent VA panels like the AOC c34gz something and the Alienware aw3425dwm and being in your shoes myself I find the choice between them all a bit well overwhelming. Overall though for the money and the fact that it is IPs I still say 401 especially for work and stuff as it is flat which is nice then
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →It is the mag 40. Although the middle one is a INNOCN 40C1 Which I got for free from a shipping error. From what I can tell it is the same panel, with the exact same io and everything
r/simracing • View on Reddit →The MSI 40" is amazing for the price: [MSI MAG401QR 40" UWQHD 155Hz Écran - Mes meilleurs réglages - Test de ghosting OVNI : r/Monitors](https://www.reddit.com/r/Monitors/comments/1n8krrf/msi_mag401qr_40_uwqhd_155hz_monitor_my_best/)
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →i've got that msi 40 inch flat monitor . its good in my opinion.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →That’s why I posted both m34wq if available and mag401qr… both should be below 400. https://de.pcpartpicker.com/product/jrYRsY/msi-mag401qr-400-3440-x-1440-155-hz-monitor-mag401qr
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →401qr is a solid low cost ips ultrawide that’s still available. The other better version is eol, the m34wq. So I suggest you go for it while you still can. IPs ultrawides are going eol and being replaced by cheaper Va or more expensive oled.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →I have an MSI MAG401QR, flat 21:9 IPS with a 155hz refresh rate. I was also looking for a long time before it was back in stock again, but it seems decently available nowadays
r/buildapc • View on Reddit →If it doesn't have to be curved, I would go for the MSI MAG401QR instead. I have both an Asus VA 34inch ultrawide and that IPS and I prefer flat screens.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →If you want ips, mag 401qr. You will find many Va ultrawides but ips is gonna be hard/expensive except for the one i listed. All the good ones/priced have gone eol. If you don’t mind Va, there are many options.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →Yeah I try and stick to IPS, but a lot of people have stated that SOME VA panels have improved. If you don’t want a curved monitor. MSI has a 40” UW IPS 155hz 1440p monitor for $360 right now. “MSI MAG401QR” Bought it about a year ago and love it. It’s pretty huge without a curve but the size/specs made it worth it for me.
r/simracing • View on Reddit →I use my monitor for desktop use and didn’t want to spend $1k, so I went with a 40” MSI UW. 1440p, 155hz and it was only $365. I have a 4080 in my PC, so no issues with quality/fps in anything I race.

r/simracing • View on Reddit →I use the mag401qr I like it. If you run a USB A cable too the monitor with your display port the two USB ports work as a USB hub
r/simracing • View on Reddit →Not worth it. Those are priced around 350… spend a little more and get an actual ips ultrawide, Mag401qr. They are 380 from MSi and Newegg. Spend just a little more for a much better panel. The only reason for a Va ultrawide is price below 300… you can see many of those but bad ghosting issues. It’s fine if it’s for work but gaming…..
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →3440x1440 is something else been using my new msi one for 6 months now and it’s amazing. Got it for about 400$ but I am temped to get a OLED one at some point.
r/OLED_Gaming • View on Reddit →I have the msi and sit around 50cm from the monitor. I have no issues with it. It’s a great monitor. I do wish they offered a curved one but it’s great and can’t fault it. However I have never owned an Oled so can’t speak for that comparison
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →You need an IPS monitor because, as you mentioned, you’ll be using one or two IDEs for around 10 hours a day, which could lead to burn-in issues with an OLED. There are some good 34" IPS monitors, such as the **U3425WE** or **MAG401QR (flat)**. However, if your work doesn’t require keeping the IDE open for 10 hours straight, then you can go with an OLED, such as the **Alienware AW3425DW**.
r/Monitors • View on Reddit →MSI mag401q 40 inch 21:9 3440x1440 for me. They are cheap fast and any basic vesa mount works
r/simracing • View on Reddit →Definitely the IPS panel pls never go for VA monitors they are horrible in everything except price, but you have a good budget so the price isn't a concern
r/simracing • View on Reddit →It depends on your budget. Also, have you ever used a VA panel before? From my experience, I previously owned a 27-inch IPS monitor, then I bought the Xiaomi 34" which uses a VA panel. Honestly, I didn’t like it at all the colors and viewing angles just felt off to me. I ended up selling it and getting the MSI MAG401QR instead. The price difference was quite big (around $310 ? $460), but it was worth it. The MAG401QR uses an IPS panel, not VA, and the improvement was noticeable. However, I did hear good reviews about the AOC model you mentioned (the one in the picture). If you go for it, I recommend getting the 240Hz version.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →Yes absolutely. If u bought it you wouldn't regret it in any way.. you have to manually put it in 155hz though with the toggle switch underneath the monitor . Otherwise it will be 144hz by default. So just remember that and your all good
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →Not sure where you're located, but the MSI MAG401QR is on sale for $399 CAD at Costco Canada. It's a 40 inch IPS (non curved) ultra wide panel. 2k at 3440 x 1440. I just picked it up over the holidays, amazing monitor for the price. I'm no monitor snob, so maybe do your own research on it. I game and also work from home, no worries about burn in with an IPA panel. So far it's been amazing for work and games look pretty damn good on it as well.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →Msi mag 40. 40" 21:9 got it on sale recently for 279. If the full price is around 500 I believe. It's a great display. Sure, its no oled. And I'll be getting the 5k2k 45 oled when it's out eventually. But for the price. 165hz, same height as a 32" 16:9, good colors and okay contrast, ips. For the price it's stupid not to buy it
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →Resplution has nothing to do with size. I have one and its huge. Also have a 34 in my sons room. Feels tiny. The mag40 is as tall as a 32" 16:9
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →You want under 500… that’s a bit difficult. Most of them are Va ultrawides. Va is not a good option due to motion blur issues. If available, m34wq is a solid low cost option. It’s eol but still available in some countries at the original low price. The only other available option is the MSi mag401qr. It’s 40” 3440x1440 ips. The main point is the price and ips which is better. Above those options, you can try to find a Phillips evnia 34” oled… they are sometimes around 550 so a tab above your budget but a much better option. You just have to look.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →If you want cheap ips, the 401qr is the best option. Good low cost IPs ultrawides are either eol or going eol. It’s being replaced by cheap Va or expensive oled. The other good IPs are as expensive as oled and those are also going eol. There are no new cheap IPs ultrawides unless you check out unknown/less known brands. You might get lucky.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →Get a bigger desk! It's worth it. Im swapping out my 6' butcher block for a 8'. It all fits but is too crowded and looks messy imo. I have a 40" 21:9 and a 27 portrait, and it's amazing. I've been waiting for the 5k2k oleds. Will get the 45 probably, but maybe 39. I got the msi mag40 on black friday for 280 since my old uw broke and almost bought the 39. But I cant spend 1k on a 1440p screen.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →Yes nice n sharp. Very bright . I left pretty much everything on default out of the box and I'm happy with it. Great with that steam wallpaper engine ultra wide animated wallpapers. Take the plunge and get it. It's impressive once sat in front of you.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →~~LG ultra gear is definitely the budget way I prefer. I think you can get one in the ~$350 range, around 165 hz, QHD IPS~~ ~~It’s debatable what “suffering from ghosting” means. I barely notice it while playing games on a crappier Samsung VA Viewfinity panel~~ I take it back. MSI MAGQR401 is what I would get right now. It’s a 40” monitor, however. Costco has em at $339 if you’re a member, but it’s normally around $400 anyway.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →Check out MSi mag401qr, a little bigger but cheap for an ips ultrawide.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →Hi mate, not the person you replied to but I have that monitor. Any questions just ask. I have also moved it closer so it’s in front of the wheel base now. [https://www.reddit.com/r/simracing/comments/1jlfofq/almost\_there/](https://www.reddit.com/r/simracing/comments/1jlfofq/almost_there/)
r/simracing • View on Reddit →Those seem to be Va monitors …. I suggest you check out mag401qr. It’s an ips 3440x1440 155hz. I’m not a fan of Va. it’s a bit bigger than 34” but from those who have it… it’s not bad for the price, it’s the closest to Va monitors price.
