I think the gx9 is the sweet spot. Rather than resolution for future iterations I would rather see refresh rate improvements over any resolution bump. Especially for a desk setup, over this resolution is just stupid and driving extra pixels you can't see is just a waste of power. Tbh I think even the current refresh rate is perfect and with the dual mode if you really needed more refresh for competitive games just go down to 2k and really can't think of a better all in one solution.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • [Real-User Invite] LG UltraGear 5K2K GX9: The Ultimate Sweet Spot of UltraWide OLED Gaming Monitor ->Alright ... so I went out and bought the 45GX950A first impressions from using it for design graphic work on a MacBook all day. \- Thought the curve would be too much, but I actually love it, makes it easier to see all the windows and compared to my 38wn95c I found myself using the edges more cause I can see them easier. \- Grays look like low-compression images with artifacts. Since I use figma all day it kinda bothers me, hope I get used to it. \- Depending on the background, sometimes I see weird flickering in the corners not a big deal, but for $2k? \- The text .. ...well it is better than any other OLED I seen.. I would say it's 80% to the IPS standard I had before it. Depending on size and background, some of it is fuzzy. \- Colors look more realistic across the board, think of it as you wiped down a dusty screen or you took a plank of wood and wiped it down with a wet cloth, and all the rain and detail became fresh and visible. \- Games, yes they look great. I have an OLED tv since 2016. If you used an OLED expect the same but on your monitor. The curve makes you feel more imerrsed, although I think I still prefer playing through my Bigscreen Beyond VR headset or living room OLED tv ... Sooo I am still not sure, I am using this screen for mostly work and maybe some games once or twice a week, and if I am spending $2k for a screen that's going to last me at least the next 5 years, I want it to be perfect for my primary task. I think maybe in the next year they will refine it further and drop the price? Still going to give it another week to see if anything changes
r/ultrawidemasterrace • LG 5k2k 45GX950A-B 48hr review ->As an ex-G9 owner, 800R is perfect for a monitor of this size. I've attempted to use a 55" C9 as a monitor but can't do without that curve. The GX9 is a perfect combo!
r/ultrawidemasterrace • [Real-User Invite] LG UltraGear 5K2K GX9: The Ultimate Sweet Spot of UltraWide OLED Gaming Monitor ->I just bought the LG OLED 5K2K 45” ultrawide. I think there’s a 34” version? My last LG 34” 1440p ultrawide was great too. My last 4 monitors have been LG and they’ve been great.

I thought Id hate the curve, I dont even notice it but in fact the opposite. I love it Coming from practically flat 3500R PG348Q its awesome
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Let’s talk LG 5K2K OLED ->For me and my use case, a monitor that strikes the right balance between gaming and productivity is the sweet spot. I currently have a 4k 120Hz, 16:9 monitor, even though I don't have a GPU that can play demanding games at 4K. I'll play games at 50% render scale, giving me high frame rate with crisp text on HUD elements. And I can still make full use of my monitors specs with less demanding games. And then when I need to switch to my work laptop when I'm working from home, that 4K screen real estate is extremely valuable. 4K 16:9 is more pixels than a 21:9, 1440p ultra-wide. Because of this, I haven't been interested in upgrading to ultrawide so far, since they've all been 1440p. I don't want to take the downgrade on screen real estate or text clarity. I had to pick between 21:9, or high res, and I prefer high res. But with the GX9, I finally don't have to make that choice! This monitor has the best of both worlds. Finally, high resolution in 21:9. This is the first ultrawide monitor that really suits my needs, and hits the right sweet-spots. I've been waiting literal years for a monitor like this, and finally have something worth upgrading to. Monitors that are 21:9 or 32:9 and high refresh rate, but sacrifice on resolution have been abundant, but that's not the right balance for me. Extra features like dual-mode and USB-C are icing on the cake. If I had to, I would choose 5K2K 160Hz, over lower res but higher refresh rate. But with dual-mode, I don't have to! And I would make extensive use of USB-C PD. Being able to plug in my work laptop with one cable would be so good.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • [Real-User Invite] LG UltraGear 5K2K GX9: The Ultimate Sweet Spot of UltraWide OLED Gaming Monitor ->I’ve not had it long, but the matte coating hasn’t bothered me nearly as much as I thought it would
r/ultrawidemasterrace • This is glorious ->Not had it long but with my work laptop, Mac and gaming I’ve have no issues with blurry or fringing of text
r/ultrawidemasterrace • This is glorious ->lg45gx950a also know as the 5k2k. I didn’t put it in the post by mistake. Sorry to everyone who didn’t know which one this was.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • This is glorious ->Also a former G9 OLED user that switched to LG 5K2K, besides the weird matte coating, it’s phenomenal. I kinda have gotten over the coating now but text is still not perfect. A bit better than my G9. I adore the aspect ratio most of all, movies and content just looks right now.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Super Ultrawide user considering Super Ultrawide vs Ultrawide (G9 OLED vs LG UltraGear 5K2K) ->I use my 5k2k far more for gaming than I thought. I was thinking of using my tv more (S90D), but I honestly feel like the ultrawide is just perfect
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Thoughts on this monitor? ->I'm in exactly the same boat — I’ve been bouncing between the 57" Samsung, the Dell U4025W, and the LG GX9 5K2K. I actually think the 57" Samsung would be the best fit for me, but unfortunately my work laptop is an M1 Max (which I can’t change), and it doesn’t support the full resolution without workarounds I’d rather avoid. I've ended up preordering the GX9 since I'm keen to move to a single monitor setup and it's a bit bigger than the Dell. It also seems to offer a fantastic gaming experience without being much worse for productivity, whereas the Dell's gaming vs. productivity tradeoff feels a bit wider. I am a little concerned about burn-in with the GX9 though...
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Best Ultrawide of 2025 ->2000 nits peak HDR brightness, higher color gamut coverage, 5-year warranty, and 240hz+ refresh rate. Other than that, love it
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Let’s talk LG 5K2K OLED ->Yeah, I literally ordered a g9 for like 950 then saw the 5k2k on marketplace in open box condition with 20hrs on the panel for 1k and said fuck it, cancelled my order, drove 4 hours roundtrip to get it, guy was super nice, just to busy with work to use it, and it's been amazing. I am so happy I went with it. I spend a lot of time on my computer, both work and play, so honestly easy to justify at 1k for me. I have a 5070 ti and its honestly more than enough for 90% of what I play. Doom TDA makes it cry but other than that, haven't had issues playing anything I didnt have issues playing on my 4k monitor. The increased height completely makes up for the lost length imo.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Buyers remorse OLED G9 —> LG 5k2k instead? ->Not had it long but with my work laptop, Mac and gaming I’ve have no issues with blurry or fringing of text
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →Yes, the matte is a let down, but I will say it does look more of a semi-gloss than a matte. Having ordered and used the G95SD with the matte finish, the LG is WAY less of a matte than that model. I sent that back. The matte finish was horrid. A higher refresh would be nice, but nothing can run that on the current market. I will say, the 1080 looks terrible. It doesn’t scale well with image quality. I don’t even utilize that feature. A true DP 2.1 should have been a MUST for the price they ask. It definitely isn’t worth $2k, but if you can get it on a good sale, it’s easier to swallow.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →I’ve not had it long, but the matte coating hasn’t bothered me nearly as much as I thought it would
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →LG advertises this as flicker free, but it clearly has flicker at [20:32](https://youtu.be/70uei9-FqkE?t=1232).
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →That is the simple way of putting it yes. Though from my personal experience the text on the 5k2k is not bad and easy to read.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →I will say, I have tested countless monitors and TV’s, all OLED. Glossy is my FAVORITE! The punch and vibrancy of colors is unmatched, but the 5K2K just gives you a feeling that those 16:9’s don’t deliver.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →I have a 5090 Aorus Master and a 9800X3D. I love everything about ultrawide. It is my favorite experience to game and separate PC experience from console. I had the LG 5K2K. I used it for about 3 weeks. It is a phenomenal monitor. It outputs a beautiful image. The matte coating is what it is, but I don’t think it affects the image like most people who don’t have the monitor say. I play mostly single player titles and I don’t chase frames, but DLSS is there to help as well as games implementing frame gen. Now for the flip side. I took it back. I got a good deal on it I think. It was $1599 on sale, I got 10% back on the purchase, so knock another $160 off. I sold my C4 for $600 and put that towards it, so basically got the total cost down to about $840. Then I noticed the LG C5 48” went on sale for $899. Bigger screen real estate, only 20 less hz than the 5K2K, a slightly more vibrant image with the glossy screen, and cross platform compatibility if I ever needed that. It seemed like a no brainer for my use case. I don’t do productivity work, I solely game. Like you, I have struggled with buyers remorse. I get something and constantly review other products. I can’t seem to “settle” with any decision. It drives me nuts at times. Even typing this I want to go back to the 5K2K because I am just a sucker for ultrawide. That said, I want to wait for my true dream monitor. 34”, 39”, or 45” ultrawide 5K2K QD-OLED. At that time, it’ll be an easy decision for me. The C5 will go and I’ll break out the wallet and buy with NO remorse! Just focus on YOUR use case. Quiet the noise and stay off the reviews! Your 4090 can run the 5K2K. At one point I was using a 9070XT and running averaging 60 frames on Monster Hunter Wilds native. I will leave you with this, my personal biggest upset with the 5K2K, MGS3 Snake Eater Delta doesn’t have support for ultrawide! You can adjust the files and get it, but it is super buggy and crashed a time or two on me doing that. You will have games that just don’t support even 21:9 aspect ratio, which at this day and age is ludicrous. If you can deal with the black bars then don’t even worry about it. I should add on my rant. I mainly focus on visual fidelity. The immersion and true to life colors are my only concerns. I do prefer to stay at least over 120 frames, but I don’t need the 500 you can get on some of the new monitors as I stay far away from competitive titles. Those years are behind me. I play for fun and to escape reality. The dual functionality of the 5K2K is a nice feature, but for me, I’d never use it. I would never want to play a game and suffer a significant image loss in 1080 ultrawide format. That to me is a feature I’m paying for and will never take advantage of. I hope this helps!
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →Yes but only at half the resolution. So that looks horrible.

r/nvidia • View on Reddit →This monitor also does that res by making 2x2 pixels into a single pixel! Fun.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →Here is what you may not know.. I have an OG Odyssey G9 (and this applies to all these super sized monitors). You will not always be running full screen real estate for all games. 1) Many games do not support UW (many Souls-like games) and you will be stuck with a central portion. Which means that your card only needs to support 1440 or 4K depending on wheter it would default back to 1440 or 4K. 2) You still have this option if your GPU cant push enough frames for your liking. 3) Many games that aren't pinnacle AAA games, you can still get a higher than expected frame rate in super ultrawide. In my opinion, getting a monitor that is base 4K ultrawide is the right choice, even with a 4080 tier or above card. In my case, I have a 7900xtx. The games I play in 5120X1440 suw have plenty of fps to spare and i usually run a frame limiter anyway. The games that don't support suw, I would rather be playing in 4K than 1440. I would get the 5K2K monitor or even the 57" Odyssey G9 monitor. The worst case scenario is you have to run in the middle, use upscaling/frame gen, or reduce options.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →Just to clear up confusion the 5k2k naming is kind of stupid. This is a 4K-ultrawide in a sense. It’s a 4K monitor with pixels added to make it wider. In the same way we call a 3440x1440 ultrawide a 1440 ultrawide. WQHD Instead of QHD. So there are more pixels to drive but the pixel density is the same as a 36” 4K monitor.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →I don’t have any experience with the G9, so I can’t answer to that. I’ve never tried 32:9 aspect, but I imagine it would be pretty great. I am a fan of ultrawide though. I also don’t do productivity, only a gamer. That said, I don’t think there’s another gaming experience on the market that is the 5K2K. The 800R curve is perfect when you sit in front of it. The curve perfectly meets your peripheral vision. The image on the monitor is great (I do wish for a glossy variant one day). I would say to you this, buy it from Best Buy. Try it out. If you don’t like it, take it back. I do think you’ll find it enjoyable. The extra real estate you get with the screen size. The OLED factor (as you already know having a G9). Don’t bother with the dual mode though, it doesn’t scale properly.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →I think 21:9 is really the sweet spot, I bought the 5k2k LG one and it’s been really immersive, and borderline so big it’s tough to manage sometimes. I think wide with good vertical real estate is a better immersion, but that’s just me
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →Yes, that is the monitor. The curve truly isn’t bad at all. When you sit in front of it, it adapts perfectly to your line of sight and peripheral vision.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →It is a sight to see when you’re sitting in front of it, is it not? Truly a wow factor!
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →I have recently purchased the lg 45gx950a-b, wow, my main job is development, this has replaced a 4k monitor that you could never have on full resolution as everything was too small. The LG is massive, it works really well in full resolution 5120x2160 165Hz on my macbook pro, little things that are resolvable, sound through the display port, MonitorControl app solves the sound issue allowing for turning the sound up and down. Things that would be nice, a webcam, because of the size of the monitor you have to have an external webcam at the top of the screen, I have had to raise my chair up to get the camera to look right. The other thing that would be nice is a built in KVM, but these are nice to haves and not essential. I find the curve ok, its not been an issue for me, I am about 70-80cm away from the monitor, its much better than the macbook screen and a 4k monitor. Macbook screen now just has email full screen with everything else on the LG. Great purchase.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →I have both, but made the switch to the 45" and haven't looked back. I just couldn't deal with the blooming.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →Absolutely. At this size, 5K (4K UW) really shines, especially in games. The higher PPI combined with big size makes every little detail pop just different. In Spider-Man, for example, up close you can clearly see the sharpness of suit textures, tiny wrinkles, even individual hair strands on characters. Yet at the same time, it's amazing how far in to distance you can see while flying through the city, everything super sharp and clear even in distance. Your eyes constantly just catch and appreciate tiny details in a way they never did on smaller screens, even compared to my previous 32" 4K monitor, which even if it had higher PPI I was not able to perceive all the detail the same way, especially in games.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →It is a game changer for immersion. I too came from a C4. I will say, it took a few days to adjust to the matter from glossy, but the 5K2K hits different.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →Oh man, okay. Let me see if I can help. As for my use case and games, 90% gaming. I am not a competitive player AT ALL, lol. I’m now 34, I play for leisure and enjoyment. I avoid most competitive shooters like the plague. I’ll dabble in Fornite, COD, of BF, but it’s all for fun to me at this point (I suck at those games). I am heavy on the story titles. I solely look for the best visual and immersive experience in my displays. 100% transparency, yes, I do miss the glossy. I would love for there to be that option. I’ll put it to you like this, the day a glossy 5K2K OLED monitor hits the market, this monitor is gone and I’m buying whatever make/model that would be. That said, this monitor still projects a beautiful image. The colors still pop. The sharpness is still great. The details in the image. It’s 11,000,000+ pixels wrapped around your face. There’s no experience like it. That’s what this monitor is about! You can’t get the immersive experience from any other display that the 5K2K delivers. Nothing like it exists right now. When I am sitting in front of it, I don’t really find myself thinking about it being glossy at all. The matte coating on this monitor is not equal to that of an IPS. It almost seems more like a semi gloss. The biggest difference from a QD-OLED to a WOLED, is the sub pixel layer. QD-OLED allows for more vibrant/saturated colors. It has perfect blacks, but only if played in a dark environment, light raises those blacks drastically. WOLED has perfect blacks in light or dark (light affects this very slightly). The colors aren’t as saturated, but are still very good. I do believe text can be easier to read on WOLED as it uses a white sub pixel layer. There can be a hint of green infringement on text on QD-OLED. To wrap up, a glossy screen almost gives an oily like display. Like you can reach in and grab it. You’re looking directly at these fast responsive pixels light up and shut off. Matte, you’re still seeing that, but it feels as though you’re looking more at a screen.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →the 5k2k has more vertical height then the 57" and that is more immersive for me. Plus 21:9 has better support then 32:9. Second, the 57" is not OLED and I only care about OLED.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →Got this bad boy for almost $500 off with the 10% discount and Rakuten 15%. Can’t wait for it to get here.
r/OLED_Gaming • View on Reddit →I just bought the LG OLED 5K2K 45” ultrawide. I think there’s a 34” version? My last LG 34” 1440p ultrawide was great too. My last 4 monitors have been LG and they’ve been great.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →I just got the LG 5k2k 45” and it’s phenomenal. For programming unreal engine and gaming
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →lg45gx950a also know as the 5k2k. I didn’t put it in the post by mistake. Sorry to everyone who didn’t know which one this was.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →I have both next to each other. Get the LG, it's so much sharper. Also the additional height is really worth it. And because it's ultrawide and not superwide you jave less issues in some games. I do miss the 240hz sometimes (in csgo and deadlock) but steady 160fps is still good.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →Best monitor. Even for competitive, the ability to run a custom resolution in the nvidia app, 2550x1440p, on the game mode 16:9 resolution with 330hz has been amazing for sweaty FPS gaming. And the 5k2k 21:9 is godly for 4k gaming. Amazing
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →Ya mini led can be great. Some blooming issues but not a super big deal. Mostly a bit annoying in subtitles in darker scenes. I still prefer OLED myself. The contrast and colors are just so nice. I also prefer having the additional vertical space of my GX9 (it is a 36" monitor class size vertically vs 32" of the 57.) My main complaint when seeing the Samsung honestly was the curve felt a bit weird. Like it was more curved in the middle then the ends flatten out. Always made the middle kind of feel further away. Something I'd have to get used to prob.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →I love the curve. I didn’t like it when looking at it on YouTube but the moment I saw it in person and put it on my desk I loved it. Never going back. I wasn’t planning on getting it until I saw the demo in Best Buy. I was instantly sold
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →Don’t go with the 5k2k 45” ultrawide… It’s been more than a week and I’m still waiting for them to send me the tracking number so I can return it and there are still no news surrounding that… I decided to return mine because it was too big. I purchased MSI MPG321URW QD-OLED (32”) instead and I believe that even with a flat screen, no curve, no ultrawide, I’ll love it!
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →I’ve read a lot of mixed reviews in regard to productivity on the 5K2K. Some love it and some find the curve a bit extreme for that use case. It does have a higher PPI so your text clarity will be slightly better from that of the QD-OLED at 110. I primarily game, so I can’t give insight personally on production use.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →IMO the 45 is a glorious size and as for bendable well I guess it only really matters if you hate the 800r. But I doubt you will ever be moving it around more just setting it to where you like it then never move it again. And even a 5090 struggles to push games past 165fps on this one. I’d personally prob just buy the 45 now and see if you like the curve. If not return it and wait. If so you’re pretty much set.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →I have the LG 5K2K and can also confirm the curve is actually a good thing in use and is a non-issue at 45”. It perfectly captures your peripheral vision, which removes the need to turn your head left and right to see things. I use it for my full-time job (WFH) and for gaming. For me, it’s a phenomenal monitor!
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →Hey friend, as a recent owner of a GX9 5K2K 45" and also a PG27UCDM, I can tell you that the LG's size is ideal for gaming. It gives you everything a TV would offer on a console, but with the speed of a monitor. The G5 also reaches 165Hz, but it's 16:9, and the immersion of the 21:9 aspect ratio is amazing, especially with the emphasis they placed on size. Before, with the classic 34-inch monitors, you were constantly thinking it was too small because of the vertical aspect ratio. Now you don't have that thought anymore, and the 800R curve simply captivates you, making you feel like you're in a command center. It's also great for work because the size makes things big and easy to see. The default Windows scaling is 125%, and it feels good. On my LG PG27UCDM monitor, I rarely reach 240Hz in demanding games, since I'm not a fan of frame rate generation. I hate input lag, but that's just me; I have a background as a competitive gamer and I've gotten used to playing like this, even in story-driven games. My final recommendation is to go for the LG without hesitation. As soon as you play a game or watch a movie in 21:9, you'll fall in love; it greatly improves your quality of life. But be aware, if you only have the LG, you might always be thinking about what you don't like as much. You have another monitor to make that difference; you don't get used to just one, and you don't lose the element of surprise.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →So I’ve used a lot of these monitors and I’ll give my two cents. If you are all about productivity. The Samsung is great for that, but if you’re going to game on it, you need a beefy rig and lots of space. I also find that it’s extremely buggy with HDR, so if that matters, buyer beware. The curve is good on that monitor, but it’s also super super long, the edges will require you to turn your heard. I just got the LG5k2k last night and honestly I love it. The curve is great, but I would say for productivity it might lose out to the Samsung. For gaming it’s great though. 240hz is vastly overrated unless you are top end competitive gaming, but I can’t really tell the difference between 165hz to 240hz. You can always wait, but also depending on where you live tariffs might be a consideration on waiting. That’s why I bought when I did.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →It will work great for all that. The only thing is burn in from long days of doing that. The only thing I wouldn’t really use it for is graphic design etc because it’s fairly aggressively curved. I love the curve but it makes lines not look straight heh.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →Yeah, totally agree, but I gave up becoming a pro 20 years ago so I'd rather have crisp visuals. Then though, if this monitor releases with 360hz+ I'll upgrade right away. Frame-gen is amazing to get high refresh. Not to go from 30base -120generated. Thats horrible input lag. But if you can have 120+ base and tripple it to 360 that is amazing.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →If it's on video, it's caused by the monitor. Most people probably can't see it, but it's there.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →I have both. The 57" G9 has been sitting in its box in my attic since I got the LG 5K2K. The G9 gets very hot if you use HDR. Noticeably hot. 5-10° over ambient in my case. I prefer 21:9 over 32:9, but that's a person preference thing. I also really like the LG's taller profile and tighter curve for gaming. I find it a lot more immersive. The biggest factor: I *hate* blooming. But I'm very sensitive to it.
