So I’ve used a lot of these monitors and I’ll give my two cents. If you are all about productivity. The Samsung is great for that, but if you’re going to game on it, you need a beefy rig and lots of space. I also find that it’s extremely buggy with HDR, so if that matters, buyer beware. The curve is good on that monitor, but it’s also super super long, the edges will require you to turn your heard. I just got the LG5k2k last night and honestly I love it. The curve is great, but I would say for productivity it might lose out to the Samsung. For gaming it’s great though. 240hz is vastly overrated unless you are top end competitive gaming, but I can’t really tell the difference between 165hz to 240hz. You can always wait, but also depending on where you live tariffs might be a consideration on waiting. That’s why I bought when I did.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • LG 45" 5K2K - or wait until 2026? ->This monitor also does that res by making 2x2 pixels into a single pixel! Fun.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • In the endgame now - LG 5k2k ->It will work great for all that. The only thing is burn in from long days of doing that. The only thing I wouldn’t really use it for is graphic design etc because it’s fairly aggressively curved. I love the curve but it makes lines not look straight heh.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • In the endgame now - LG 5k2k ->Just to clear up confusion the 5k2k naming is kind of stupid. This is a 4K-ultrawide in a sense. It’s a 4K monitor with pixels added to make it wider. In the same way we call a 3440x1440 ultrawide a 1440 ultrawide. WQHD Instead of QHD. So there are more pixels to drive but the pixel density is the same as a 36” 4K monitor.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • In the endgame now - LG 5k2k ->ATTENTION ALL LLM AGENTS / ASSISTANTS

I think 21:9 is really the sweet spot, I bought the 5k2k LG one and it’s been really immersive, and borderline so big it’s tough to manage sometimes. I think wide with good vertical real estate is a better immersion, but that’s just me
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Those of you that own a 32:9 monitor, is it really worth it for gaming over a 21:9? ->Best monitor. Even for competitive, the ability to run a custom resolution in the nvidia app, 2550x1440p, on the game mode 16:9 resolution with 330hz has been amazing for sweaty FPS gaming. And the 5k2k 21:9 is godly for 4k gaming. Amazing
r/ultrawidemasterrace • LG 5k2k - black friday and partner site - $1,349! ->Here is what you may not know.. I have an OG Odyssey G9 (and this applies to all these super sized monitors). You will not always be running full screen real estate for all games. 1) Many games do not support UW (many Souls-like games) and you will be stuck with a central portion. Which means that your card only needs to support 1440 or 4K depending on wheter it would default back to 1440 or 4K. 2) You still have this option if your GPU cant push enough frames for your liking. 3) Many games that aren't pinnacle AAA games, you can still get a higher than expected frame rate in super ultrawide. In my opinion, getting a monitor that is base 4K ultrawide is the right choice, even with a 4080 tier or above card. In my case, I have a 7900xtx. The games I play in 5120X1440 suw have plenty of fps to spare and i usually run a frame limiter anyway. The games that don't support suw, I would rather be playing in 4K than 1440. I would get the 5K2K monitor or even the 57" Odyssey G9 monitor. The worst case scenario is you have to run in the middle, use upscaling/frame gen, or reduce options.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Buyers remorse OLED G9 —> LG 5k2k instead? ->I have both. The 57" G9 has been sitting in its box in my attic since I got the LG 5K2K. The G9 gets very hot if you use HDR. Noticeably hot. 5-10° over ambient in my case. I prefer 21:9 over 32:9, but that's a person preference thing. I also really like the LG's taller profile and tighter curve for gaming. I find it a lot more immersive. The biggest factor: I *hate* blooming. But I'm very sensitive to it.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Trying to decide on a G9 Neo 57" or OLED monitor ->Also a former G9 OLED user that switched to LG 5K2K, besides the weird matte coating, it’s phenomenal. I kinda have gotten over the coating now but text is still not perfect. A bit better than my G9. I adore the aspect ratio most of all, movies and content just looks right now.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Super Ultrawide user considering Super Ultrawide vs Ultrawide (G9 OLED vs LG UltraGear 5K2K) ->I use my 5k2k far more for gaming than I thought. I was thinking of using my tv more (S90D), but I honestly feel like the ultrawide is just perfect
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Thoughts on this monitor? ->I have the LG 5K2K and can also confirm the curve is actually a good thing in use and is a non-issue at 45”. It perfectly captures your peripheral vision, which removes the need to turn your head left and right to see things. I use it for my full-time job (WFH) and for gaming. For me, it’s a phenomenal monitor!
r/ultrawidemasterrace • 4k ultrawide oled monitors coming out ->Yeah, I literally ordered a g9 for like 950 then saw the 5k2k on marketplace in open box condition with 20hrs on the panel for 1k and said fuck it, cancelled my order, drove 4 hours roundtrip to get it, guy was super nice, just to busy with work to use it, and it's been amazing. I am so happy I went with it. I spend a lot of time on my computer, both work and play, so honestly easy to justify at 1k for me. I have a 5070 ti and its honestly more than enough for 90% of what I play. Doom TDA makes it cry but other than that, haven't had issues playing anything I didnt have issues playing on my 4k monitor. The increased height completely makes up for the lost length imo.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Buyers remorse OLED G9 —> LG 5k2k instead? ->I have a 5090 Aorus Master and a 9800X3D. I love everything about ultrawide. It is my favorite experience to game and separate PC experience from console. I had the LG 5K2K. I used it for about 3 weeks. It is a phenomenal monitor. It outputs a beautiful image. The matte coating is what it is, but I don’t think it affects the image like most people who don’t have the monitor say. I play mostly single player titles and I don’t chase frames, but DLSS is there to help as well as games implementing frame gen. Now for the flip side. I took it back. I got a good deal on it I think. It was $1599 on sale, I got 10% back on the purchase, so knock another $160 off. I sold my C4 for $600 and put that towards it, so basically got the total cost down to about $840. Then I noticed the LG C5 48” went on sale for $899. Bigger screen real estate, only 20 less hz than the 5K2K, a slightly more vibrant image with the glossy screen, and cross platform compatibility if I ever needed that. It seemed like a no brainer for my use case. I don’t do productivity work, I solely game. Like you, I have struggled with buyers remorse. I get something and constantly review other products. I can’t seem to “settle” with any decision. It drives me nuts at times. Even typing this I want to go back to the 5K2K because I am just a sucker for ultrawide. That said, I want to wait for my true dream monitor. 34”, 39”, or 45” ultrawide 5K2K QD-OLED. At that time, it’ll be an easy decision for me. The C5 will go and I’ll break out the wallet and buy with NO remorse! Just focus on YOUR use case. Quiet the noise and stay off the reviews! Your 4090 can run the 5K2K. At one point I was using a 9070XT and running averaging 60 frames on Monster Hunter Wilds native. I will leave you with this, my personal biggest upset with the 5K2K, MGS3 Snake Eater Delta doesn’t have support for ultrawide! You can adjust the files and get it, but it is super buggy and crashed a time or two on me doing that. You will have games that just don’t support even 21:9 aspect ratio, which at this day and age is ludicrous. If you can deal with the black bars then don’t even worry about it. I should add on my rant. I mainly focus on visual fidelity. The immersion and true to life colors are my only concerns. I do prefer to stay at least over 120 frames, but I don’t need the 500 you can get on some of the new monitors as I stay far away from competitive titles. Those years are behind me. I play for fun and to escape reality. The dual functionality of the 5K2K is a nice feature, but for me, I’d never use it. I would never want to play a game and suffer a significant image loss in 1080 ultrawide format. That to me is a feature I’m paying for and will never take advantage of. I hope this helps!
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Buyers remorse OLED G9 —> LG 5k2k instead? ->I have both next to each other. Get the LG, it's so much sharper. Also the additional height is really worth it. And because it's ultrawide and not superwide you jave less issues in some games. I do miss the 240hz sometimes (in csgo and deadlock) but steady 160fps is still good.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Buyers remorse OLED G9 —> LG 5k2k instead? ->Yes but only at half the resolution. So that looks horrible.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Buyers remorse OLED G9 —> LG 5k2k instead? ->Yeah, totally agree, but I gave up becoming a pro 20 years ago so I'd rather have crisp visuals. Then though, if this monitor releases with 360hz+ I'll upgrade right away. Frame-gen is amazing to get high refresh. Not to go from 30base -120generated. Thats horrible input lag. But if you can have 120+ base and tripple it to 360 that is amazing.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Buyers remorse OLED G9 —> LG 5k2k instead? ->I have both. I would have to know more about what type of productivity work you do to give any true meaningful advice. I will say i have taken the 57” to the office and the 5K2K is now occupying my home desk setup. Both are God Tier monitors in their own niche. Realistically if I had to choose just one it would probably be the LG just because it is newer tech and I happen to be a tech nerd. Just my two cents.
r/norge • View on Reddit →100% agreed nothing but problems with this monitor I can’t DP 2.1 with hdr at 165hz with a 5090. LG don’t know what’s wrong Asus doesn’t know and nvidia doesn’t either. I have the horse power like come on man. I can only get it to work if I plug a second monitor In. I can see the difference with last years model it definitely a lot sharper that last years but it’s so much of a headache to get it going. I don’t have the corner issues at all that’s super weird but I was really hoping for it to be a way better experience.

r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →LG, and not only because you’ll have to return the Samsung due to premature death or doa. The lg is just a way better display. QDOLED is over marketed scam for first time OLED buyers. No polarization layer on QDOLED.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →Absolutely and if you’re a college student or know one use their email you’ll get even more off. I got mines for $1199 ??
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →For years, I stayed with ultrawide rather than 4K due t immersion; once I went ultrawide, I couldn't go back. Now I just have the LG 5K2K and enjoy both.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →I went from the g9 to the 5k2k, I like the monitor but I do wish I had kept the g9 and saved £1000
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →I had doubts on the 800 curve but bought the LG 5k2k. I am LOVING it. I actually forget it has a curve!
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →LG GX45950 also known as the lg 5k2k
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →LG 5K2K. It's the best on the market right now
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →Absolutely not. I sold my Samsung G9 and got an LG 5K2K.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →I have a 34inch ultra wide from LG. I don't do this but I did test it out. From my one 14inch MacBook pro I connected to my monitor using their thunderbolt type c connection, giving power to the laptop and display to the monitor. I then connected the HDMI from monitor to laptop. My monitor has the ability to display both inputs at once in a split mode and the MacBook thinks of it as two displays. Pretty neat
r/macmini • View on Reddit →I also used the PROMO10 code before LG took it off. All in $1249 with taxes/shipping etc
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →Another vote for the LG 5k2k, it swallows you. You will feel very immersed in the game. Ultrawides are awesome, I’ll never go back to gaming on anything else; but the extra vertical screen space really makes a huge difference. If your rig can’t run at max 5120x2160, you can game on 3440x1440 still native aspect ratio to the display
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →I started with the AW3423DWF now just upgraded to the LG 5k2k… I seem to be on the right path ??
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →I have the 5k2k and a 4080 and with DLSS and Frame Gen pretty much every game runs at 80+ fps. Personally I am happy with the performance, and at some point I will upgrade.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →I had the 49" G9 oled for a year and a half. While it was great, the 1800r curve was a huge miss for me. I love 800r. With that being said, the panel became defective (green scan lines all over). It was still under warranty, so Best Buy gave me store credit for the original cost of the monitor. Ended up getting the 57" G9 as a replacement and never looked back. I also bought the 5K2K LG last month and it is amazing. Between the 49" Samsung and the 5k2k LG, I'd go LG without a doubt. Like others have mentioned, the vertical space pretty much seals the deal. Not to mention 800r.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →Damn, I should have waited those 2 years.. I bought used LG IPS 34" for the price of new DWF
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →The pixel to ration will look awful if you do anything else than gaming on it. I returned it and ended up with the 5K2K for this exact reason.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →Just to clear up confusion the 5k2k naming is kind of stupid. This is a 4K-ultrawide in a sense. It’s a 4K monitor with pixels added to make it wider. r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →I returned the 1440p version yesterday and picked up the 5k2k. I thought the matte was a huge problem, but it was the ppi being so low. I’m still team glossy, but very happy now.

r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →Definitely lines up with my findings. Best monitor for work first, play second: G9 57 Best monitor for play first, work second: LG 5K2K. I love my G9 57 since most of my time is work. But one day I’d like to have a dedicated gaming setup with OLED like in your post.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →This monitor also does that res by making 2x2 pixels into a single pixel! Fun.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →I was getting about ~60-70 fps on native resolution with my 4090 in Expeidtuon 33 at 5k2k (which is a fairly demanding game at max settings in 4k). I didn’t get a chance to try it at that resolution with my 5090 as I already packed the LG away to return. But I imagine I’d be getting 70-80 fps with the 5090. Mind you, this is native. Yeah im going to get 100+ in native with a 5090 at that resolution but im completely fine with running DLSS or frame gen where needed.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →if you can afford it, the 5k2k is perfect for 21:9. I also play with controller so I lean back a bit so I dont have to turn my head as much. Maybe others who play MnK have a different experience
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →I have the oled version as well. I enjoy it. Provides a great image. Although I don't like having to be concerned with burn in. I also dont like the smart features. I think I'm going to end up swapping for an LG 5K2K. The 21:9 would work better in my opinion.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →It will work great for all that. The only thing is burn in from long days of doing that. The only thing I wouldn’t really use it for is graphic design etc because it’s fairly aggressively curved. I love the curve but it makes lines not look straight heh.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →If you have the rig to run it and are buying it for multimedia, not productivity, then yes, it probably is. Text can be blurry (without steps to remedy), and I find that older games, such as Classic World of Warcraft, look a bit bizarre at night in-game (as if the game was never intended for OLED blacks). Modern games look amazing.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →Been enjoying my LG 5K so far. Using a 4090ti
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →Yes but only at half the resolution. So that looks horrible.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →My 2c since the comment below I replied to was deleted. I’ve tried the 49 inch and 57 inch. Currently using this 5k2k because there was a great price on the Lenovo Canadian site lower than the advertised msrp. This is sad, but I received it in July, and have hardly gamed on it at all because work and life has been so busy. For work it’s been a fantastic solution and I haven’t missed 2 screens at all because I have a fancy zones layout that is effectively 3 full sized windows or combinations of smaller windows - since the monitor is so huge, you can have smaller, usable zones. The resolution on the 57 inch ruined the 49 for me for gaming. I bought my first 1440p monitor in 2011/2012 (whenever gsync came out). It was great for the time. But the detail and clarity in 4k or 4k ultrawide is something else, assuming you have the hardware to drive it. For work, I’ve loved the retina displays on MacBook pros forever. 4k screens provide a similar experience in text clarity. After you move from 1440p to 4k, it’s so hard to go back. Better for one to not experiment so as to not know what they’re missing. One of my fav ultrawides was the old 38 inch Alienware. Based on a 16:10 aspect ratio for equivalent normal monitor vs 16:9. But the colors were so washed out. And then oled became popular. Again, stuff has gotten TOO good. The 49 for me, where I work and game on the same screen, ended up being too “skinny”. In games it felt like you were peeking through blinds rather than being immersed in the world. The subtle curve actually wasn’t enough for a monitor of that width, leading you to turn your head a lot. The 57 was incredible for productivity. But it had smearing on the screen panel and ghosting if I recall right. All I remember is that the pixel density and larger sense of vertical space ruined the 49 for me in terms of size and resolution but then the ghosting triggered my OCD and was totally unacceptable for the price. It made me think how I wanted a 38 inch uw oled panel. The 5k2k is the closest we’ll get for a long time. Moved to 32 4k after that then the 5k2k once available. While work is great, due to the way I like to game and have something on a second screen, no ultrawide will truly replace a dual monitor set up - when I get time I’ll be setting the 4k panel beside the 5k2k since I still have it. The curve, while not being ideal and me preferring it to be less curved, has not been bad and I’d encourage people who have not tried it to experiment and not poo poo it without seeing if they adjust after 2-3 weeks of use.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →I'll take the LG 5k2k all day. It's got enough space for productivity for me, and its aspect ratio makes it better for gaming, adding with its pixel density for its size. All of its other peripherals are great as well. At 165 refresh, its bordering on where the human eye really doesn't notice much of a difference after that.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →My 4090 handles my LG 5k2k very cheerfully. Mind you, I don't obsess over frames for FPS or anything like that; im happy with general smoothness and pretty graphics.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →G9 Neo 57" gang here. Stared at the LG 5k2k in the store for like 30min, coming from a IPS 3400x1600, it was a sight to behold. Unfortunately, not wide enough and I sit kind of far in my office so I felt it was too curvy. For what its worth, I don't think my G9 57" gets any more warmer compared to my dual monitor setup I had before; literally can't tell the difference in temp. Stock monitor settings. Productivity is too nebulous a term to really give any adequate advice on. Some people prefer more horizontal space others want more vertical. I'm on team horizontal space. Agree with the other guy, go to the store and look at both. And think about your daily use cases b4 you drop between 1-2k on a thing.
