I’m the same scenario right now. My final two options are the Dell U4025QW or the LG 5k2k Oled. How is the text clarity on the LG oled? That’s my once concern along with the lack of kvm
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Best productivity (70%)/gaming (30%) monitor at the moment 38-40"? ->Yes I saw this along with their new video today. Might be better to stick with the dell. But the OLED seems so nice
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Best productivity (70%)/gaming (30%) monitor at the moment 38-40"? ->Yes, also Monitors Unboxed posted new video on the LG 5k2k today. They were saying that the curve is very noticeable and the fact that it is is OLED just isn't made for productivity. I do lots of video editing and I would be worried that the timeline could burn in. As much as I want that OLED panel, the more sensible choice may be the Dell
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Best productivity (70%)/gaming (30%) monitor at the moment 38-40"? ->Finally, LG! I can finally give my Dell U4025QW to my wife. Almost bought the LG UltraGear 39" OLED Curved, but glad I waited

Oled is not ideal for text clarity. Like someone else commented what you want is a good 5k2k. For productivity Dell Ultrasharp 5k2k is a good bet.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • I bought this monitor and its text clarity is terrible… any idea why? ->I'm going back from a single ultrawide to a dual monitor setup. By adding another ultrawide. My 40" Dell will move to the top and at the bottom I'll add an LG Ultrasharp 45".
r/ultrawidemasterrace • AS A DEV - ->Bad timing, Samsung Australia just finished an EOFY sale including monitors. I have and like the lg 38wnc monitor. Great for productivity with some extra vertical height (1600px) and good for gaming with up to 144hz. Not oled good but still good. I was very tempted by the lg oled 45 with 5k2k res, but it’s expensive and not sure how it would be for productivity. If I didn’t care about gaming the dell 5k2k 40 inch looks great but it has slow response times, so not useful for gaming.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • 34” or 38” ultra wide monitors recommendation ->I just got the Dell 5k2k 40inch but this one has OLED and got me all interested in it. It’s also slightly bigger too. And that button switch for a higher refresh rate is a welcome function.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • [Real-User Invite] LG UltraGear 5K2K GX9: The Ultimate Sweet Spot of UltraWide OLED Gaming Monitor ->Honestly, going back and forth from 4K on my Dell U32 32" Ultrasharp to 3840 x1600 on my 38" Alienware can be quite the difference, particularly in text clarity. When I only had the Alienware and it was an appropriate distance away, it wasn't noticeable, but as soon as I got the 32" Ultrasharp to play with, the text immediately appears more soothing to the eyes and going in the other direction is fairly jarring. Of course the 144Hz refresh rate of the Alienware makes the experience much smoother. And I absolutely notice the difference in brightness/nits during the day - the Alienware is much brighter. In short, if it were 4K, I think it'd be the perfect monitor and that's sort of what you get with the U4025, with the added benefit of the dock. I would choose brightness, refresh, and customer service of the Dell over the LG any day of the week. Particularly with regards to the latter, Dell has an outstanding premium panel exchange warranty whereas customer service with LG seems to be rather suboptimal. Only thing I'd caution is considering whether a curved screen will be appropriate for your CAD work case. From time to time, I do notice when working in Excel or other docs on my Alienware that the lines I'm drawing or looking at aren't 'straight' and it can be ever so slightly annoying. It's actually why I decided to experiment with the 32" Ultrasharp. Your eyes eventually adjust and trick your brain into thinking that the curved line you see on the Ultrawide is indeed straight(ish), and then when you look at a flat screen, the flat screen will look convex. I would imagine that this would be far more annoying in CAD visuals, but I don't spend a ton of time on graphics so not sure. If the cost of the Dell is tough to swallow, you could always consider getting 2x32" 4K displays. Could be cheaper with even more real estate and same vertical resolution. Just don't forget to factor in the theoretical cost of the dock in the comparison. Good standalone Thunderbolt docks aren't cheap.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • 21:09 Dell vs LG - what monitor to pick? ->I love my Dell u4025qw, but partly because of the KVM switch that responds to DDC. Of course, it's only 40 inches and not OLED, so in a few years I'll be looking for a replacement. If the LG 5K2K offerings had KVM, I would be interested.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • [Real-User Invite] LG UltraGear 5K2K GX9: The Ultimate Sweet Spot of UltraWide OLED Gaming Monitor ->I second this monitor. I've had many similar Dell monitors over the years, from the 38" 1600p ones to these 40" 5k2k ones. I have 2 of these 4025's, one on top of the other and when I'm gaming on PC, I switch the Mac to mirror the screens and I change the input of the bottom monitor to the PC. I keep an eye on my mac on the top screen and either use separate kb/mouse or sometimes I use Synergy although I find it to be a bit buggy. I don't find the response time to be an issue but I also don't play a lot of twitchy fps games. ????? Currently playing TLOU2 and it's gorgeous on this display.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • UltraWide for Programming on a Mac and gaming on a PC? ->I have two 4025's one on top of the other... both on my macbook during the day, and I switch over the bottom one to pc for gaming. Playing TLOU2 on it right now and it's gorgeous. I don't really notice any smearing, or if I do it feels like just slight motion blur that most games push on you anyway. ??
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Best productivity (70%)/gaming (30%) monitor at the moment 38-40"? ->I just bought a Dell U4025. It is wonderful. When coding, it is GREAT to have height of your viewport, often even more important than width. The U4025 is 2160 pixels tall - a huge step up from the 1440 I used in my previous widescreen. I don't think it is the best choice for gaming. What is your game:non-game ratio? Mine is realistically 1:99 so I went with the monitor that was good for the 99% and decent for the 1%. Now that I think about it, I will load up a game and give it a shot. Art
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Best size ultra-wide monitor for a 48” x 30” desk (Work and gaming)? ->I use a Dell U4025. I love the screen, size and format as well as the built in KVM. I connect using TB with my Mac and DP with my PC. Since I bought the MM4Pro, I seldom use the PC. Art
r/macmini • Ultrawide monitor for Mac mini ->I have the Dell 5k2k 120hz. Let me tell you. I'm fucking in love with this thing. It's the perfect mix of productivity for work and games for fun. I'm running it with a 3080 right now and it does respectably well.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →Yep. I have it and it's a perfect "mostly work some gaming" monitor. I even played COD / Warzone on it and it was just fine.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →I haven't tried it for gaming as I bought it for my wok desk, but it slaps for coding. Super crisp fonts. I imagine the 120hz would be nice to have for games.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →For productivity 2160 is amazing, The new LG 45 5k2k and Dell U4025qw are the top contenders. Currently happy with 1600 vertical. I briefly used a 1440p ultrawide and couldn’t bear working the missing vertical space.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →Have the U4025QW. Use it for 90% productivity (programming), 10% gaming. My comments. I've used the monitor with both 60Hz and 120Hz. I'm not suffering from the response time. I'm not that sensitive to such issues. Certainly 120Hz is nicer than 60Hz. The 450cd/m2 is way too bright to use at max setting for productivity. HDR-wise it works, but not great. My room is medium lit. The Dell has excellent anti-reflection which I'd say is more important than brightness for productivity. 5k2k is very good for productivity. Previously cramped layouts in IDEs etc get the space they deserve. For productivity with a lot of vertical text, I would never give up the 2160p vertical resolution. It is awesome.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →Sounds like you want to buy a bunch of expensive stuff hoping to do something with it. That’s backwards, figure out what you like to do first, then buy the stuff to help you do it. To answer your question, from my experience, 3 monitors is too many for one PC, two is ok if you need lots of stuff at a time on one PC, an ultrawide is the best. Having said that, I work on Blender and play games, and for fps games I use an ultrawide 1440p, but for Blender I much prefer my 27” 4K monitor, it’s much sharper and just the right size. The only upgrade I would consider for Blender is the Dell 40” 5K ultrawide, but it’s extremely expensive.
r/buildapc • View on Reddit →Dell U4025QW is the king for office work IMO.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →I run that for gaming and the Dell for work. I don't wanna mess with OLED for my all day work monitor.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →Just a quick note to share I ended up getting this monitor but so far haven’t been successful getting it to run at 5k2k over TB4 cable with my M1 Max. I’m kinda bummed a bit but still trying few things. It will run at 60hz but that’s as fast as it will go. The colours on this monitor look great to my eyes. Happy to share more info if you need. If you have got yours now, I’d be very interested to know if you got it running at 120hz on max res, particularly if you have a Mac
r/photography • View on Reddit →I've waited 5 years for this type of monitor - U4025QW. Agree with all your points. My biggest gripe being a software engineer was finding a UW that had enough vertical space. This Dell U402 hit all the spots and great to use on Mac + my gaming PC. Easily enough holds my terminal windows and code all on one screen. Gaming wise - haven't noticed any issues and I play FPS, adventure, 3rd person etc. No ghosting/smearing, it's a pleasure to play.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →Dell U4025 is the best for such cases
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →Cosigning the U4025QW. I have it (on the Dell arm) on a 46"W desk and it's not only the widest I can go given these dimensions, in terms of LCD, it's probably one of the best for and mostly work use case. Only issue that high FPS games like Valorant might not look great on it with the response rate. I noticed it on Rivals. It doesn't look bad, just doesn't look great.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →Doing a similar role. I’m for the U4025QW on the way. Well worth stretching the budget.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →Honestly you can’t go wrong with the Dell 4025QW! It costs good money but it’s worth every penny and then some. Versatility, quality of both build and display and then compatibility with most existing systems! You won’t regret it!
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →I bought the Dell 4025 and it was ... great? I'd have liked a bit more curve, truly, but I returned it because the USB ports were flaky as all hell. Too low powered to charge my phone, for example, and yes I switched things around and was on the phone with Dell for too long. I loved the 40" size, however, and the resolution was perfect. Was using a clamshelled MBP with M3 pro. I'm a psychologist so don't care all that much about perfect colour or the blackest blacks... Zero care about refresh rates. I've considered a cheap 40" with similar spec to Dell out of like, Ali Express, for 1/3 the price... but I know they would have no meaningful warranty support. Oh, I will say that off angle viewing was pretty crappy with the Dell 4025. Going from a VA to IPS... yes, better? But still pretty disappointing. Sometimes I stand up or walk around if watching something just to stretch etc and it was noticeably "meh" when off angle. I found this thread hoping to find an alternative to the Dell. Perhaps the Samsung 40 will do the trick and hopefully comes in at less money. I'd try LG OLED too if it made sense despite any risks of burn-in for office use (though another poster said it's a non-issue... who knows if that's true if there are static images for 50-60 hours a week. I'd risk it if it worked and wasn't outrageously expensive (like the Dell, for me, given it is so much more than I need and dropped the ball on what I did need -- working USB ports). Went back to my cheap Dell 34 + a vertical 24" beside. Not nearly as smooth as I had BetterTouchTool working like a DREAM with window snapping and hotkeys with the single monitor.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →Get the Dell U4025QW or LG equivalent.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →I have my 800r for gaming on the same desk as my 2500r. Have never wanted to bend either. If anything, I'd want a bigger curve on the 2500r Dell ??
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →Just pulled the trigger on the 4025QW with this sale. All my research pointed me there for the same use case [https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1814581-REG/dell_u4025qw_40_curved_5k_120hz.html](https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1814581-REG/dell_u4025qw_40_curved_5k_120hz.html)
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →I work during the day and game during the night on a LG 45" 5k2k. Whilst its good for productivity, the curve is honestly annoying for it and if I wasn't gaming, would drop to the Dell 40" 5k2k IPS.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →Have the U4025QW for 90/10 work/gaming. Love it. I can not see any effect that I would call smearing. Not on desktop nor while gaming. I play slow to medium paced games. Is there technically a smear effect that people who are used to playing CS at 240 fps on OLED can comparatively notice, sure, probably. People in this kind of forum are the most discerning end users you can find, who measure everything to fractions of milliseconds, and i love that. But "crazy bad smearing“ for such users is not the same as for a more .. normal person.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →I started with a dell u4025qw. Used it for a few months then switched to the Samsung 57. Very happy with that decision. The most usable pixels in my opinion.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →LG 38WR85QC or Dell 4025DW. The LG has a KVM and USB-C DP, 1600p, a very good screen, 144 Hz, decent HDR, and good VRR for gaming. The Dell has Thunderbolt 4, 2160p, also a good screen, 120 Hz but is not as good at VRR gaming (according to rtings). Also driving games at that resolution is a challenge for any PC which doesn't have a 3080 or better... Also it's double the price. So if gaming is important and you can live without 4k resolution, then get the LG. I went for it and am happy. :)
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →I’m definitely getting that one since I’m 75% work 25% gaming.

r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →As a Mac user I'm sure you appreciate how shit MacOS looks at low DPI vs "retina" high DPI... In my view, for a Mac ultrawide, only the Dell U4025QW would cut it for that job (UW + 120 Hz + retina + IPS).
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →I use a Dell U4025. I love the screen, size and format as well as the built in KVM. I connect using TB with my Mac and DP with my PC. Since I bought the MM4Pro, I seldom use the PC. Art
r/macmini • View on Reddit →My first G9 57 had dust under the display and I had to RMA. Tbf, it was a good RMA experience but it was still a pain. I consider it worth it as I only paid $800 for mine. I personally wouldn’t pay full price or anything over 1600. The U4025QW has an insanely awesome built in TB4 dock plus a pop out usb hub which is great for productivity.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →The absolute drama and overreacting in the comments is hilarious. For gaming, the 45" 1440p is excellent. That's what this thing is made for. For text clarity or working, it's absolutely not good. OP - go for the 5k2k, or a Dell U4025QW if you're mostly working.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →Only you can answer if the Dell is worth 50% more for you. In my case, my employer paid for the monitor so it was an easy choice. I had been waiting for a long time for any monitor to match my check list: 5k2k, 120Hz, 10+ bpc, HDR, color-accurate, no burn-in. The Dell was the first one. Knowing what I know now, would I buy it again with my own money? ... Yes I would (but I would cry when making the payment).

r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →It's the king of office work with all the connectivity. 5k2k panel. 120hz. IPS Black. Slight curve.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →Are you truly limited to 34"? If not, grab a Dell U4025QW and call it a day.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →Thank you for the comment on the curve. I swear to god half the forum won't shut up about it. When actually using it, I don't even think about it. It sits next to my 2500r Dell I don't even notice switching back and forth really.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →LG 40WT95UF and 40U990A are the same monitor, just LG doing their usual crap of creating a ton of different names for the same product. They're also not available yet for there to be any reviews - EU amazon has it listed for delivery in September, reviews should start appearing by then. The Dell uses the same panel as LG, Dell has some agreement with LG Display to have exclusivity on these IPS Black panels for around a year. Main difference will be the more modern connectivity on the LG with thunderbolt 5 (80gbps) and DP2.1 (54gbps, should be 80 like thunderbolt but what can you do). On the other hand Dell has 140W PD (LG has 96W) and 2.5gbps ethernet (LG doesn't specify, probably gigabit only then)
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →Just bought it, and thinking whether to keep it. Cannot really have 3 windows side by side, only 2, each of which is more narrow compared to my previous 2x27 4k. Contemplating 57" one despite it seeming too bulky
