I have alienware 34 inch 2025 ultrawide, as good as ultra wide is I am waiting for 4k tandem oled 27 inch in trueblack glossy. The ultrawide qd oled panels are just too dim and not keen on semi gloss (night time non issue) I have 2 TVs at home I play on more 65 inch oled/mini led and prefer 4k. I was considering 5k2k 34 inch when released next year but matt screen and the colours are weaker then qd oled or tandem woled

I used a 3440x1440 qd-oled monitor for years and it was a great experience, but when I upgraded my gpu to be able to push a 4k 240hz monitor I made the switch. It was an adjustment at first, but I can confidently say that I prefer the 32" 4k at this point. It actually takes up more of my field of vision and the added clarity is great

I have an ultrawide 34in Alienware oled. Only complaint is that it’s only 165hz. I think they just released a new version that’s 240h though. Some people say ultrawide is bad for fps games but I’ve never had an issue and had really good ranking in marvel rivals and a high kd in Warzone.

I started off with a VA panel (AOC CU34G2X) then upgraded to an OLED Alienware 34" - yes the OLED is better in many ways but the VA panel was great and I didn't really notice too much smearing. I used it both for work and gaming. I'm actually using both 34 inch monitors right now and both are fine for everyday tasks and I play games on the OLED. The OLED though - man, it's like playing a different game.

I’m a bit biased because I went with that exact AW model, but I’ve been thrilled with the thing since I got it. Only got it recently, so as far as long-term reliability I can’t say, but thus far it’s been wonderful for gaming. I got it on sale, so I’m not sure how it stacks up at full price, however.

Check for PBP - Picture by Picture, as a feature. It allows you to connect multiple systems eg: work laptop and home pc and have both inputs displayed side by side with various sizes of your choosing eg 50:50, 70:30, 30:70 etc.The Dell Alienware ultrawides that I checked recently have it. I am using this feature on my AW3425DW.

I recently got the Alienware AW3425DW on sale for $680. I use it exclusively for gaming and it does the job very well. My only qualm is that it isn't as bright as id want it to be, but closing the curtains solves that issue. I wouldn't say that its an absolute game changer, but it fills your peripheral vision more which makes gaming more immersive. keep in mind that 1440p ultrawides are 3440x1440p vs regular 1440p monitors being 2560x1440p, so they are a bit more demanding to use. I have a 5070ti which is a little more powerful than your 4070ti, but it gets pretty high fps in most AAA games so in your case if you're fine with turning down a few settings you should be fine. If you really want to make sure, I would look up some benchmarks on youtube with your pc specs

AW3425DW is frequently on sale for $650-700. But go check it out in person before purchasing it to make sure you like it. Side note: ultrawides aren't the best for anime content consumption or console gaming as neither of them take advantage of the monitors 21:9 aspect ratio . If those are really the only two things you plan to do with it, get a 16:9 4k monitor instead.

I had Alienware 34" OLED for 2 years. I bought Alienware 32" 4k oled. The picture quality alone on 4k and having the height of a proper 16:9 aspect ratio was a win for me. Pixel density on ultrawide was too noticeable at least for me depending on the game of course. Stalker 2 made me realize that. I sold my buddy the ultrawide. Haven't regretted my decision once. If you're hard pressed for screen real estate for multitasking you could always get another monitor down the road. IPS panels are pretty inexpensive now. See if you can buy them from best buy. Sign up to be a plus member it's like $50 for the year and you get a 60 day window to return products. That should be more than enough time to make a decision. I did this with multiple monitors headphones TVs. I'd buy 2 and return the one I didn't like as much. Best buy is goated for this sole reason

I just upgraded from 4090 to 5090 on a AW3423DWF, which is 3440x1440 165hz. If you do go with 1440 ultra-wide you should defs get something AT LEAST 240hz at that res, Im finding myself capping literally all my games at the max refresh rate 165hz (157hz capped ) I feel like im leaving alot of performance on the table. the 4090 before id argue was perfect at that res and hz If you want to make the jump 5k2k would be nice but imo get a 240hz 1440p ultrawide, youll get high frame rates and it still gets a nice image. (id recommend the 2025 240hz alienware monitor) Personally, waiting for a 38inch ultra wide with High refresh (doubts), or something else to catch my eye, 5k2k seems to high of a jump imo even with a 5090 and no higher refresh rate

Disclaimer: I'm definitely a "victim" of the "IPS is far superior" notion that is/was the rule-of-thumb. VA could actually be pretty good nowadays, but I don't really have access to any in person so I'm definitely biased against spending money on a VA panel. I had the same problem when my Gigabyte M34WQ died, just to realize that it's evidently discontinued and couldn't find anything else. I ended up with an OLED, the AW3425DW. My wallet was not happy. I must say though, I don't notice any fringing unless I'm \~20cm away from the monitor, specifically looking for it. The only reason I know what that is is because other people talk about it. I see no issue at my normal distance. You could probably try visiting a store and actually looking at one. It might not be an issue for you neither. I'm a full time dev, so I just removed the taskbar from that monitor specifically to lower any chances of that burning in. > Why do you think there's been a slowdown (perceived maybe) of IPS panel releases? Buyers don't care, I guess. I suppose those looking for ultrawides fall into two categories: productivity, who don't really care that much for the benefits of IPS, especially when cost is factored in, and gamers, who are going OLED. It could also be that VA panels have improved a lot to where most won't even really notice the difference that much.

I had this monitor for a few days. The raised sub 1 nit blacks are really bad. The transition from pure black to .5% to 1% black is way too fast and makes near black content look horrible. The screen is phenomenal otherwise, but that black to near black transition looked so bad in everything I threw at it. I’m quite surprised it didn’t bother Tim more!

I actually ended up selling it and am waiting for the Alienware refresh coming out April 19th for like $799 or something. The Msi one uses the first gen O-led panel from my research and the Alienware one will use the 2nd gen. And it’s cheaper than the xeneon. I never turned on the xeneon but figured if I’m going to spend $700+ on a monitor I might as well get the one I actually would prefer.

The 5k2k curve is aggressive and i have 3-4 monitors set up. Didnt have issue with blurry texts with any of these. Was gonna keep the aw3425dw but 2nd monitor with OLED kinda bad, the burn in. I think the LG C series is the better deal. I dont play competitive fps.

Just got the AW3425DW for 768€, and it's fantastic, I'd recommend this monitor. I also had the G85SB before, this monitor is basically the same, with a second gen panel, and a higher refresh rate. And you don't have to go into the service menu to fix this monitor, unlike the G85SB. There is one little issue though. You can't use power law 2.2 gamma (actual 2.2 gamma) with the Alienware. The workaround is to use an ICC profile which converts Windows's SRGB emulation into 2.2 gamma. You can download it from GitHub. Then for SDR content you just enable the profile to have proper 2.2 gamma.

I worked from home with high brightness and no issues, I think it’s at like 80 maybe? I just manually run the refresh thingy when I turn it off at the end of each day. This was 2-3 years of 40 hours a week writing code on it, no burn in at all. I do hide my finder bar on my Mac and taskbar on windows to avoid the most common burn in spots. I’ve had to run the deep pixel refresh once a year if I see lines from my IDE but they go away with that.

Yes, I have an AW 34" QD-OLED at home and the MSI 34" QD-OLED at work. Same panel inside both. I do both video editing and game development (coding). I used Cleartype and picked the best option and haven't had any issues with eye fatigue or reading text. I have a monitor arm for each so they're the perfect comfy distance from my face, and use dark themes and low lighting to keep the contrast in the room reasonable. I do have a side 4:3 monitor for additional code or reference web pages, especially for game dev where I may have 2-3 editor windows up in addition to the C++ code. Three years in, would not switch to anything else (I've tried a few times just out of curiosity). Maybe in 6-7 years when the next OLED tech comes out.

Finally decided to upgrade to the AW3425DW from my AW3420DW. I was contemplating this or the LG 5k2k but didn’t want to lower my fps and I’m so happy with my choice. The colors are so vibrant and rich! I messed around with the panels settings a bit and tweaked it to what I thought was best. The panel maintenance refresh is new to me but honestly hasn’t bothered me at all. I know some people say to do this but I hid the task bar from the screen just in case lol. My last panel’s refresh was 120, so moving to 240 on this has been a big leap and has made the games I play way more enjoyable. After gaming on it for a full day playing Arma Reforger, Oblivion, and Expedition 33 I can say I’m quite pleased with my purchase!

I have gone back and forth with this same question. I currently have a 32" 4k oled but tried the updated aw3425dw. To me, a 34" 1440p display makes everything feel super small. You get extended peripheral, but the view in front of you is reduced. I noticed myself looking up and down way more on the 34" to be able to see everything, which I found annoying. (Destiny, Oblivion, diablo 4, warzone). I have the older 1440p lg 45" and the larger screen and sharp curve are great. (Personal preference). I would be running the new 45" 5k2k if my rig could get more than 60frames. (4080 laptop)

Anyone else getting a feint vertical line in the centre of the screen, mostly visible on grey backgrounds? Please note, it could be very feint, so might need to look extra hard to spot it. 1st monitor I had, it seemed to become more obvious over time, new one is still too early to tell if its gonna get worse or not. Have the exact same use cases as you, bought the AW3425DWM ($319) from amazon (due to the more lenient return policy). So far perfect, no coil whine, dead pixels or flickering. The most surprising part was how it performed while gaming, really low latency and smooth (I'm coming from 360hz). Personally, the biggest reason for this monitor is because it isn't true 4k. Especially 4k + 27inch (tried it out at bestbuy) is way too hard on my eyes and I can't even concentrate due to the constant subconscious feeling of eye strain. So I was looking for a monitor that had good text clarity, no eye strain, and ample amount of space for productivity. This is the guide I used for color calibration:  [Dell Alienware AW3425DWM Review - RTINGS.com](https://www.rtings.com/monitor/reviews/dell/alienware-aw3425dwm#:~:text=Gain%20(95%2D99%2D98)%2C%20Offset%20(46%2D47%2D50)) On amazon it's $270 right now and I believe you also have till the end of January next year to return.
