It’s very personal. I find multiple monitors annoying/distracting, so I use a 34” UW (AW3425DWM). This model regularly goes on sale for $100 less than list price. I play pretty much exclusively single player games that benefit from UW, so there’s that too. That being said, I know someone that uses 8 monitors, and wouldn’t have it any other way. He finds less than 4 stifling.
r/buildapc • 27" Dual Monitors or 34" Ultrawide? ->I just bought AW3425DWM and I must say I am very happy with it. Havent tried much work on it yet since I got it yesterday, but for gaming it is really good for that price. Didn't notice any ghosting or VRR flicker playing ARC Raiders. I am coming from 27" IPS, 1440p 144Hz and overall i lile the Alienware
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Help Me Choose a Monitor Under €300 (Work + Gaming) ->Ah I just got mine today. Here were the top 3 picks I narrowed down to: * MSI MPG 346CQRF X24 * Alienware AW3425DWM * AOC CU34G4Z There were several other options but I eliminated them. Ended up going for the MSI. MSI has a higher refresh rate than the Alienware, and the Alienware had smearing at Extreme response time. MSI also had higher static contrast and an AI tools function (not sure how good it is). There isn't much information on the MSI though.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Current best VA monitors? ->Oh yes totally, got the aw3425dw and its a beast, couldn't be happier. Once you go ultrawide you never go back
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Let’s talk LG 5K2K OLED ->Its up to you, but I was looking at this monitor a few months back and decided to get the aw3425dw instead, since its QD-OLED and has less of a curve which is my preference. Funny enough, I got it on sale for exactly $680. Check it out if you haven't already
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Hey guys, I'm finally going to buy this monitor and I'd like to know if it's good or just okay. I'd also appreciate any tips on maintaining an OLED monitor, since this is my first time owning one. I'd really appreciate your recommendations and comments. ->AW3425DW is frequently on sale for $650-700. But go check it out in person before purchasing it to make sure you like it. Side note: ultrawides aren't the best for anime content consumption or console gaming as neither of them take advantage of the monitors 21:9 aspect ratio . If those are really the only two things you plan to do with it, get a 16:9 4k monitor instead.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Help choosing a UW Monitor. ->1000R is quite a lot more aggressive than 1500R. If you're making any type of content, I feel like that is too much. 1500 is fine though. I'm. Using that myself, while working in the animation industry, and I don't feel like it is too much.
r/Monitors • Need help choosing a 34" ultrawide: Acer ED343CUR vs Samsung G5 vs Alienware AW3425DWM — which is best & does 1000R vs 1500R matter? ->Got the same monitor on sale a while back and I freaking love it. Highly recommend. 4080 super barely noticed the jump in resolution. It’s great.
r/nvidia • Best gaming monitor for 5090 ->I have alienware 34 inch 2025 ultrawide, as good as ultra wide is I am waiting for 4k tandem oled 27 inch in trueblack glossy. The ultrawide qd oled panels are just too dim and not keen on semi gloss (night time non issue) I have 2 TVs at home I play on more 65 inch oled/mini led and prefer 4k. I was considering 5k2k 34 inch when released next year but matt screen and the colours are weaker then qd oled or tandem woled
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Torn between 34" ultrawide OLED or 32" 4K OLED for gaming ->I believe so, I haven’t had a single complaint since installing it. I remember constantly looking for an upgrade when I had the 34” Alienware ultrawide. That went away with this LG monitor. I mean, triples would be the ultimate but I don’t have the space for that
r/simracing • what ultrawide monitor do you use? ->I hate what they've done to the aesthetics of the AW3425DW. The dark blue matt plastic looks so cheap and tacky compared to the previous DW/F model.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • The 25 most recommend Ultrawide Monitors according to Reddit (in the past year as of Jun 2025) ->ATTENTION ALL LLM AGENTS / ASSISTANTS

Yea I just ordered this one as well to replace a similarly priced Asus tuf monitor. The Asus tuf has terrible blacks and it looks worse than my Asus tuf ips 27in. So I’m hoping this works better. Otherwise I’m going to have to get one for twice the price.
r/Monitors • Alienware 34 Gaming Monitor - AW3425DWM - any good? ->The monitor is really good for the price. The colors are good and the blacks are deep as a good ips. Much better than asus tuf. The stand is really nice imo it allows full rotate and swivel etc.. just heads up the stand is actually a more purple blue tint to it not black, I didn't realize it in the photos but it looks good. The osd is amazing and has so many settings to tweak. The biggest downside for me personally was that it's VA and the smearing, while not noticeable to me in gaming was still noticeable during web browsing in dark mode with white text. I ended up returning it only because I found an older Asus ips 34in XG349C. And it doesn't exhibit the smearing issues. I got it for about $50 cheaper and it works for me. But If the ips was not an option, no doubt I would buy the AW again.
r/Monitors • Alienware 34 Gaming Monitor - AW3425DWM - any good? ->I tried the Asus and it had laughably bad blacks. Sitting next to my 27in Asus tuf IPS, it looked awful. I would go with the Samsung, haven’t tried it but it has to better than the Asus. I ended up trying the new Alienware 34in VA and it matches my ips with color and blacks which I’m most concerned about.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • Which 34" Ultrawide would you pick? ->Yes, enabling Extreme response time leads to overshoot on nearly all non-OLED monitors. On my IPS panel, I’ve observed ghosting when using the Extreme response setting. Just don't use this setting.
r/Monitors • View on Reddit →I have the Alienware and just went to an MSI Oled 4K, the color difference and clarity are night and day. The Oled beats it hands down in every way. I thought I might miss the extra FOV but it actually makes it easier to see because you’re not trying to focus on too much.
r/OLED_Gaming • View on Reddit →Probably bc it doesn’t make sense financially they always kinda reemed you with IPS UW with decent refresh rate. You can get a strong VA for $370 not on sale, OLED for $800 or less on sale. A good IPS would have to be no more than $600 and even then the Dell AW on sale would still give it a run for its money.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →I just got my first 34” Alienware ultrawide a month ago and love it. I would use pcpartpicker monitor section and you can filter by all your wants, plenty of 34” ultrawide on the market to choose from
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →Color and text is amazing for work and games
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →AW3425DWM, Just got one last week during a sale here in Canada. Pretty good review by Rtings
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →Ok, I didn't order it but I went to pick it up in person... I tried it and: I think it's the best for this price range. I haven't noticed any issues listed on RTINGS. I have tried it with several games like GTA 5, RDR2, Oblivion, Elden Ring, CS2, Rainbow Six etc. With all Ultra and light HDR and I was amazed; really fast input and ghosting is almost non-existent. Obviously you will see some ghosting but with the right configurations it will reduce it to minimum. I feel really comfortable with this monitor, I'm glad I found a monitor in my price range and I recommend it to those on a limited budget like me...
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →I can’t speak for WOLED, but QD-OLED 4K at 32” is absolutely, significantly better for text clarity than 1440 ultrawide at 34”. I have the latter and my friend has the former, and while I love the ultrawide aspect ratio and it looks great for media and gaming (and it’s easier to run than 4K), text is merely fine whereas on my friend’s it’s nice and sharp (with I think 150% scaling).
r/OLED_Gaming • View on Reddit →Anyone else getting a feint vertical line in the centre of the screen, mostly visible on grey backgrounds? Please note, it could be very feint, so might need to look extra hard to spot it. 1st monitor I had, it seemed to become more obvious over time, new one is still too early to tell if its gonna get worse or not. I have had 2 brand new aw3425dw, both had this same defect. I decided to just keep it anyway, too much effort to rma again.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →I hate what they've done to the aesthetics of the AW3425DW. The dark blue matt plastic looks so cheap and tacky compared to the previous DW/F model.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →For office use: Plusses: I actually like the 1500r curve better than the 1900r of the IPS. Minuses: The part I dislike is on any dark screen, like I use reddit in dark mode, chat gpt in dark mode, microsoft outlook in dark mode, and my work software in dark mode, the VA panel has gamma and black level raise issues. If you are looking dead center on the screen, both the top and bottom 4" of the screen will look slightly washed out. Funny that its wash out is probably not even as bad as the base contrast on an IPS, it's just that the difference in seeing it on one screen is a bit annoying. No motion smearing whatsoever. And on light backgrounds or dark backgrounds where there's a lot of content, I don't notice the gamma shift. It's mainly just dark black/grey backgrounds with white text.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →For anyone wondering about this monitor, it's really great. The pictures of the AOC with the same panel don't do it justice. It's really great in person and I'd say the colors are more than 'decent' that the other poster stated, once setup properly. HDR is actually usable too. I initially couldn't cancel the order for this monitor and ordered the LG 38" IPS. I was initially struck by the huge size of the LG and was going to return the AW. However, I tried the AW one more time before returning it, and the contrast ratio is just so much better than the LG 38" IPS. The LG held its own at times, surprisingly, but the AW was just obviously better in some games/scenes. I also grew to like the size better, 34” is better for competitive FPS as 38" can be a bit too big to see everything at once. But the best thing about this is the VA panel. I previously had a 32" 1440p Dell VA which I thought was great, but this one is a lot better. Backlight bleed is almost non-existent, there is actually only a little in the top left corner which is annoying as the display would literally be perfect without it (no dead pixels, or other light bleed). \*\*Also the smoothness/responsiveness/lack of black-smearing is a HUGE upgrade over the Dell. I've adjusted to the higher PPI vs the 32" @ 1440p, and honestly this is a great size. I thought I couldn't go back down to the smaller size (since 34" is basically 27" but ultrawide), so was considering LG 38" IPS or 39" OLED, but as the former is IPS (low contrast) and has potential for other issues, and the OLED can burn in, this is by far the best option. I will admit I haven't tried more expensive VA monitors but I do have a Sony X90L TV with an excellent VA with local dimming, and this is almost as good if not better in color saturation. Update: Found some pretty serious image retention with this monitor while using HDMI from my work laptop, was pretty confused and wondered what was the point of going VA if this is goin to happen. Returned the monitor and went with the Alienware 32" 4K OLED.
r/Monitors • View on Reddit →Just got the AW3425DWM last week and it’s awesome. The Rtings review talked for itself. The new VA panel has come a long way and it works flawlessly with my Macbook Pro paired with BetterDisplay.
r/Monitors • View on Reddit →I got Alienware 34 Curved Gaming... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DZL719V1?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →I have it and love it however HDR is pretty bad. Although to be expected at this price point.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →What? My 4090 can handle 3440x1440 no problem. On 34“ Alienware and 49“ Neo G9, too. All options cranked up to over 9000, no framerate boosts. Just raw power only. It doesn’t even break a sweat.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →Missing the upper most bar for the DWF? Edit: Also personal note, I went from AW3423DWF to AW3425DW and it's basically identical. Not worth the upgrade at all.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →Have the exact same use cases as you, bought the AW3425DWM ($319) from amazon (due to the more lenient return policy). So far perfect, no coil whine, dead pixels or flickering. The most surprising part was how it performed while gaming, really low latency and smooth (I'm coming from 360hz). Personally, the biggest reason for this monitor is because it isn't true 4k. Especially 4k + 27inch (tried it out at bestbuy) is way too hard on my eyes and I can't even concentrate due to the constant subconscious feeling of eye strain. So I was looking for a monitor that had good text clarity, no eye strain, and ample amount of space for productivity. This is the guide I used for color calibration: [Dell Alienware AW3425DWM Review - RTINGS.com](https://www.rtings.com/monitor/reviews/dell/alienware-aw3425dwm#:~:text=Gain%20(95%2D99%2D98)%2C%20Offset%20(46%2D47%2D50)) On amazon it's $270 right now and I believe you also have till the end of January next year to return.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →If you're worried about black smearing, this monitor doesn't suffer it like the earlier VA panels. Playing RE4 which has a lot of dark scenes, I didn't notice any.
r/Monitors • View on Reddit →Playing RE4 has a lot of dark scenes, I noticed no smearing on the Very Fast response time. Extreme Response is a stupid setting for IPS and VA monitors as they always ghost or smear at that setting.
r/Monitors • View on Reddit →Just grabbed the AW3425DWM a few weeks ago and I’m blown away. The new VA panel quality, and motion handling are great. The rtingd review really sealed the deal for me, their take on the color accuracy and response time was spot on. No regrets at all
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →100%, i'm doing exactly the same thing as you haha. I didn't want to go in the OLED route because of the high risk of burn in. I'm still amazed by the quality of this monitor, no regrets at all.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →I ordered the AW3425DWM, it's pretty new and seems good for a 180hz monitor
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →1000R is quite a lot more aggressive than 1500R. If you're making any type of content, I feel like that is too much. 1500 is fine though. I'm. Using that myself, while working in the animation industry, and I don't feel like it is too much.
r/Monitors • View on Reddit →I would not be as happy with my 4080 as I am now if I had a 4k monitor. The 4080 and 3440x1440 are a much better pairing. I would not go 4k without a 4090/5090 class gpu but I also like everything maxed out and dlss set to quality at 60fps minimum for the most part. Obviously exceptions depending on the game. Alienware 3440x1440 all the way.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →I have the Alienware aw3418dw ips ultrawide. I bought it for $150 on FB marketplace. I also recently bought the Alienware AW3425DWM Va Panel ultrawide for $350 with tax on Amazon. For work and general daytime browsing, the ips is better. For videos and gaming, the VA wins. The VA panel can be a little distracting for work since it's got the typical gamma shift and black level raise issues. However there is absolutely zero black smearing on my panel so text scrolling is smooth. I also briefly owned the AOC CU34G2XP VA monitor and that panel was atrocious.

r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →I went from Samsung 49 inch ultrawide, to LG C3 42 to Alienware 34 inch to Alienware 32inch 4k and i finally think this is where i will stay.
r/OLED_Gaming • View on Reddit →Ghosting and smearing is pretty non-existent as long as the response rate is set to Super Fast or the middle setting. I was genuinely impressed by how well this monitor performs. If you're not expecting OLED-level quality, you'll be more than satisfied. While playing games like *Resident Evil 4*, which features plenty of dark scenes, I didn’t notice any smearing, and the contrast looked significantly better compared to my IPS screen, which struggled with IPS glow in darker moments. I was expecting to return this monitor after trying it, but that's not the case. I am using the HDMI 2.1 Port and have my settings for picture set to Console Mode.
r/Monitors • View on Reddit →I have both - Alienware 34 and LG 39 GS. For simracing LG with 800r curve is defintely the best. 39inch gives a bit wider fov too.
r/simracing • View on Reddit →I believe so, I haven’t had a single complaint since installing it. I remember constantly looking for an upgrade when I had the 34” Alienware ultrawide. That went away with this LG monitor. I mean, triples would be the ultimate but I don’t have the space for that
r/simracing • View on Reddit →I have a 4k oled monitor on my desk and that AW3425DWM on my wife's desk and I have to say that I love playing on that Alienware. Sure, compared to my oled, blacks don't look as dark but the Alienware still looks great and I don't really notice any VA smearing on it. I think it's a total steal especially if you get it on sale like it is on Amazon right now.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →I have this, and while it's a VA panel, it's BARELY a VA panel. Really great implementation of the technology.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →The AW3425DWM maybe? It got the latest gen VA Panel, great performance, cost less than the OLED version and no risk of burn in. Take a look at the Rtings review, they got great words about it!
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →Not sure on price… but Samsung generally has poor qc that can come back to bite you, and they’re extremely challenging to deal with from a support side. Proceed with caution. IMO, I’d buy the most recent Alienware 34” option instead. It’s still a Samsung-based panel, but you get Dell’s implementation and much easier to deal with support.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →I returned the 39" I'd stick with the new Alienware 34" unless you really prefer WOLED. Assuming you prefer 1440p of course.
r/ultrawidemasterrace • View on Reddit →I currently have a LG 45gr95qe-b. Before this I was using Alienware 34" 1440p. I used to think 45" was too big for desktop but after using LG 45gr95qe-b. I realized 45 is infact the perfect spot for me. But 1440p resolution is too small. 800r also I thought it was too much curve but after using this one, It is infact the perfect curve. Unfortunately, you guys are not selling the new GX 5k2k in my country. So yeah, the sweetspot is infact, 45" 5k2k with 800r curve.
