Gotcha! My friends visited NYC a couple times with their infant and their Doona worked well for them. May be worth the purchase for your trip. A hack Ive heard is that if youre planning on gate checking, go up to gate agent and ask (nicely) if there are any open middle seats and if so if you and your baby could be put in that row. If it works out youll get to bring the car seat onboard without buying a seat, if not gate check it as planned and lap carry I personally have the Nuna Triv + Pipa Aire and weve flown with it (and the car seat) a few times as a gate check and we love it bc the Triv folds easily. I feel like the Triv is perfect for NYC life but is an expensive purchase so the Doona a much better deal unless you happen upon a used Triv Also another option if youre renting a car for your upstate journey is a car seat supplied by the car rental company - I think almost all of them have the option!
r/Buyingforbaby Would you buy a used 2019 Doona just for travel? ->I would say that it depends on the case. In general, it is better for newborn babies to lie flat, so if you are planning on using your stroller for longer walks, it is better not to use the car seat for that. But if you will be using it primarily to go from your car to the store, that should be fine. But it is also worth checking if the convertible seat is really fully secure for newborns. Yes, they are rated for such and have inserts, but how tightly does it fit newborns and what angle is the baby positioned at? At least here in Germany, the typical advice is that infant carriers are safer than convertible seats for newborns. (But seats vary a lot by region, so this may not apply outside of Europe). As for me, I am in a different position this time (it's my fourth pregnancy), as we now live in a major city and don't own a car. I ended up getting the Nuna Pipa Next infant seat as it is very lightweight and therefore easy to move into a taxi, car-sharing car, or rental car on the rare occasions that we use them. We don't intend to use it with a stroller except perhaps on vacation. I did consider just starting with a convertible seat to save money, but decided against it.
r/BabyBumps For newborns: Baby Car Seats (0-4yo) vs infant carriers that double-up as car seats/strollers?? ->Yeah, I live in a big city and also don't own a car, so I will likely barely use the seat. I bought a Nuna Pipa on sale from Babywalz for 135. I chose it because it has a relatively high weight range and my older kids were big when they were born. It is also doesn't weigh much so it is easy to use for car sharing. It was a model that was already discounted due to the color, I had a 10 gift card, and they were having a 15% off Nuna sale for one weekend only. According to their website, the exact same seat costs 220 at Zwergperten, but the German-speaking parenting internet would still view the decision to purchase the exact seat (**in advance, not after renting a seat first!**) for 85 cheaper as being terribly irresponsible. I mean, clearly the seats become magically less safe when purchased from an unapproved vendor. The proof that this happens is that the Fachhndler say so! And the Fachhndler couldn't possible be motivated by the profit that they make from convincing worried parents that they should buy their seats at inflated prices. They are purely performing a public service! And if it would actually common for infant seats not to fit full-term, normal-sized newborns, no seat on the market would be suitable, as a baby that is shorter/taller/slimmer/chubbier at birth could easily not be so after a couple of months, and then they could need a different seat a month later.
r/BabyBumps For newborns: Baby Car Seats (0-4yo) vs infant carriers that double-up as car seats/strollers?? ->The pipa urbn /Nuna Trvl Lx combo is amazing. I have to walk down a flight of stairs and it works well. I like the Trvl LX because can be used from birth with a near flat recline, super early one hand fold, pretty light, and the wheels and frame are very strong handling not the best streets and sidewalks quite well. While I have a car, there have been times when I needed to take an uber and the urbn was perfect. It just plugs right into the latches. It was so much easier than doing a seat belt install each time. And while it is heavier than our pipa rx, it really wasnt noticeable like I thought it would be. It felt the same with a 23lb baby in it as the RX. And when he was really little it was great.
r/Buyingforbaby Lightweight car seat choice for solo FTM who doesn't drive? ->We have the Nuna pipa baseless with rigid latch and love it. We dont take a lot of Ubers but didnt want to buy multiple bases and I 100% recommend. Its so easy to click in and out and is compatible with every single car.
r/beyondthebump What kind of car seat comes with an Uber? ->I had a Nuna (Pipa Lite RX) with my first and the Joie Mint this time and prefer the Mint! My baby always kicked off the sky drape on the Nuna and the Joie Mint honestly feels like similar quality to me (I have the maple that comes with the nutmeg). Strollers and convertible car seats are worth spending extra money on in my opinion, infant seats are outgrown too quickly to justify it to me. They all go through the same safety testing.
r/Buyingforbaby talk me out of the nuna car seat... or into it! ->Urbn, Graco GoMax, and Joie Mint latch are all baseless latch infant seats. All of the nuna seats can be installed baseless if you use a seatbelt btw. Theyre all safe. People feel like theyre not safe because theyre new or because they dont know how car seats work, but ask any CPST or look online for video demos - they can explain how its just as safe as other car seats on the market. People have this idea that the base that it clicks into, is safer, but when you have the baseless latch connectionits doing the same thing as the base is (connecting via latch lol) ?? Idk the weight limits for the the Graco and Joie car seats but the nuna urbn, nuna pipa RX, and Aire RX all have the same weight and height limits now. Theyre 4-30lbs and 16-30 inches. The older models varied more, but now theyre the same across the 3.
r/Buyingforbaby Did I make a mistake getting the Nuna PIPA URBN? ->I have a Nuna Rava forward facing behind the driver seat, and a Nuna Pipa rear facing behind the passenger. Both front seats need to move forward from where we'd normally have them to accommodate the car seats behind. I'm 6'2" and when I drive, I do need to move the seat forward a good amount from my normally position because my 4 year old would other wise have only a couple inches for her feet. There is not room to comfortably fit a third person in the middle seat of the second row I'd say. And no easy way to get to the third row with two car seats installed.
r/VolvoXC90 How is XC90 for 3 small kids? ->The Noona is probably the best car seat that turns into a stroller - its an all-in-one. So you dont have to worry about bringing along a separate stroller. It is great for the first year or so. And the Noona is stroller is small so you can easily bring it to wherever youre going without it being a hassle. The ones like Uppababy Vista are good too, but it requires you to bring a separate stroller that you can click the car seat into. But once the kid outgrows the infant car seat, the stroller is just a large stroller and doesnt really have any major benefits over any other stroller. Ill say this - we used the Uppababy system for our first two kids then did the Noona for our third - and I really wish we had gone for the Noona in the first place.
r/Parenting Infant Car seat and stroller combo ->We had the Pipa urbn and looooooved it. So easy and light. Twas a sad day when our daughter outgrew it.
r/Buyingforbaby Did I make a mistake getting the Nuna PIPA URBN? ->She outgrew it around 11 mos.
r/Buyingforbaby Did I make a mistake getting the Nuna PIPA URBN? ->Joolz aer 2 and Nuna pipa URBN are what Im doing for my nyc baby. This combo is most versatile for travel etc.
r/Buyingforbaby Need recommendations for infant car seat and stroller combos! ->This is true. But Nuna just came out with Pipa Urbn flex set that attempts to solve this in the US. The stroller mom mentioned it in her stories today. I think its to force spending more on their travel systems. I got an unused URBN on the second hand market for $170.
r/Buyingforbaby Need recommendations for infant car seat and stroller combos! ->Yes! We came home with our newborn in uber. We had nuna pipa which clips into uber / Lyft and rental cars. Like others said you can order a car with child seat but those are hard to find. We have used once for airport travel and reserved in advance and it is nuna car seat. I believe they have a partnership.
r/nycparents • View on Reddit →We got the full travel system in a bundle - actually the pram place we got it from agreed to price match to a deal we found online, so we got it for almost 50% off which was crazy. The car seat, isofix base, buggy chassis, bassinet and stroller seat all came in the bundle along with a foot muff, two rain covers and different adapters. The Pipa Lite is only up to a certain weight limit or 12 months I believe, whichever came first. So our heavy boy actually outgrew that by 9 months but we will obviously get a second use out of it with this baby so not too great a loss. The stroller has had much more longevity for us and we would be continuing to use it with him for a while yet if we didn't need it for baby!
r/BabyBumps • View on Reddit →Love our nuna and very committed to sticking with the brand when we size up
r/Buyingforbaby • View on Reddit →I think you'll be happy with either stroller - but I would really recommend looking at Nuna car seats instead of UB. UB just doesn't design their seats as well and there are more issues with fit than Nuna ever has. Do you expect another kid in the near future? I prefer the fold of the Demi to the Vista. I get so annoyed with closing the Vista and opening it, but it is a dream to push! I also love that the Demi comes with a built in mosquito net, and the second kid seat is not reduced limits like on the Vista. I never even tried the Demi unfortunately and I regret it!!

As for goods: Thule jogging stroller has been fantastic for us, though we walk frequently and on subpar roads/trails. We went with the Nuna Pipa Lite car seat and liked it, but have the UppaBaby Vista 2 as our stroller chassis and wish wed just bought a compatible UppaBaby car seat (to deal with less converters and components). A good, breathable crib mattress is a must. Weve liked the Newton. Lastly, the Baby Brezza is a game changer if you formula feed at all. The rest weve gotten a ton of mileage out of gently used and secondhand: clothes, toys, accessories, etc.
r/HENRYfinance • View on Reddit →Im a CPST who has installed hundreds of car seats and dealt with every companys customer service. Nuna is top tier.
r/Costco • View on Reddit →Nuna customer service is top notch and its rated one of the best seats out there.
r/Costco • View on Reddit →We hated the aria and got the pipa aire rx instead. There is an adapter for the stroller, we also have the Cruz and have loved it.
r/Buyingforbaby • View on Reddit →We have the Nuna Pipa URBN and LOVE it!! This is our first baby though so we dont have much experience with any other car seat. We initially bought the regular Pipa that uses a base and it made our passenger seats virtually unusable (2016 BMW X5 and 2019 Volvo XC-90). The URBN sits lower on the seat due to not using a base and fits much better. It is a breeze to get in and out of our cars, easy and stress free to use in others cars, and I love that when I dont have his car seat in my car all the seats are usable (none taken up by a base). I will say weve put it in a couple cars where the seat latches are covered with fabric held in place by Velcro and it has to be undone to install, which is less convenient, but hasnt been a huge deal for us and in those cases we just use the included latch guides. We also heard people say the base is easier to get in and out every day but for us its been super easy, but again we only have experience with the baseless! Ive also heard critiques about the size/weight limit, but my son was 16 lbs (25th percentile) at 6 months and its already pretty heavy. I cant imagine wanting to carry a baby in a bucket seat around past the 22lb URBN limit personally.
r/Buyingforbaby • View on Reddit →Nuna strollers and car seats with specifically the merino lining. The lightest version of the Pipa that had a reflex clip in base and could be used without the base. Things that we got after attempting alternatives because we love traveling: A dedicated travel stroller that fits in the overhead of airplanes. Cybex libelle. The travel bag for the nuna pipa car seat. The seat is light and so its a good item have as a backpack. You can also jam a load of diapers in the space saving previous suitcase space. Baby Bjorn Travel Crib. Its so light and easy to set up. Gave us much more options for locations we could stay.
r/HENRYfinance • View on Reddit →We brought our nuna car seat and used it in our rental car and in my MIL car, has attachments that clip in. Wasn't an issue anywhere (WA or VIC).
r/AustraliaTravel • View on Reddit →Thats why I feel like Nuna is a waste lol. The evenflo are very very very easy to install, so it doesnt make any sense to buy extra bases, and they dont even make them actually
r/parentsofmultiples • View on Reddit →Hey, I am basically you, but a year down the road. I live on the second floor (no elevator) and don't drive. I have (and recommend) the Nuna Triv Next with the regular Pipa car seat, which has the longest life of the Pipa line. You might be able to find an adaptor on Etsy for another car seat. I used the carseat in the stroller until my baby was about eight months and could sit up independently in the regular stroller seat. No base is required to be installed in the stroller or in the car. The bassinet attachment option isn't approved for use in my country, and I was fine with the car seat in its stead. The stroller itself folds up with an easy pull and lift of the handle. This can be done with one hand. It's light to carry up and down the stairs, and when folded takes up hardly any room. Upside: The stroller seat and car seat can be set to parent-facing or world-facing. The Minu does not have this functionality. (Don't know about the other one you mentioned.) Parent-facing is great because you can look at them, talk to them, keep an eye on them, and see what they're looking at. Studies have shown that young babies in world-facing mode experience a lot of anxiety. They also can have delayed language development. Many benefits to facing your child!! Plus they are cute af and you'll want to look at them. Downside: The basket has only a 10 lb weight limit. The mesh is not nearly as sturdy as those I've seen on the Uppababy line. Let me know if you have any questions!
r/Buyingforbaby • View on Reddit →Hi! Our LO was born in January. We did short walks until March / April at which point we did more carrier walks. We had nuna triv next plus pipa urbn travel system. We loved the car seat for uber and rental cars since it just clipped in. We would litwrally unclip with baby from the stroller frame and clip into it he car and the frame folded easily. We fee out of it around 7 months and graduated to the toddler seat. If you are considering buying that and would like to buy a gently used, let me know.
r/nycparents • View on Reddit →I have a Nuna car seat. The base stays in our family car. When I take Ubers with my baby, the car seat can easily and quickly be fastened with a seatbelt. Theres instructions on how to do it properly.
r/nycparents • View on Reddit →The fact that my Nuna weighs less than 9 lbs is why I own it, every person whos ever grabbed the seat has complimented how lightweight and easy it is to maneuver. And Id buy it over and over again!
r/Buyingforbaby • View on Reddit →Have the Nuna tavo. Love it bc its so easy to use with the Nuna rx car seat. You can also lay the seat completely flat and has buttons on the feet, so it acts Iike a bassinet. Really didnt want to buy a bassinet bc it felt like a waste of money. Also think about how the weather will be when your baby is born. Its great in the wintertime to move the car seat into the stroller and cover her up completely to stay warm.
r/Mommit • View on Reddit →Our nuna car seats are hands down the best. Weve bought cheap brands for travel + the maxi cosis for grandparents cars to compare. The nuna feels the sturdiest, highest end, and the thing doesnt budge. Its also incredibly comfortable and grows with your kids.
r/HENRYfinance • View on Reddit →We got the Joolz Aer+ (Aer2 wasnt out yet) + Bassinet. We love it and baby really loves the bassinet best (no straps and just chills). Also I love the bassinet is foldable and can be trunked pretty easily. We also have a Nuna car seat. Joolz Aer has the adapters that are compatible. The Nuna came with the RX base. Honestly, with additional bases we were offered and gifted so many Nuna bases from friends. Ill bet marketplace has a bunch of bases too. This might be an option ?????

We live in a suburban area, no plans to go running or off roading with our stroller haha. We got the Nuna TRVL LX and Nuna Pipa Air car seat. You can snap the car seat into the stroller, and the stroller goes almost flat so we used it for walks starting around 1 month old. Both stroller and car seat are incredibly light weight and easy to manage, 10/10 recommend. Unfortunately not at the point of convertible car seat yet but looking into Evenflo revolve and Cybex Callisto
r/BabyBumps • View on Reddit →We absolutely love our Nuna Pipa RX. The base is so easy to install and takes me all of 15 seconds, which is super nice when we need to change vehicles. r/Buyingforbaby • View on Reddit →NICU based car seat tech here- - Evenflo Litemax, especially the models with the one piece body insert like [this one](https://www.evenflo.com/products/pivot-modular-car-seats-and-stroller-travel-systems) (not sure they sell this specific car seat on its own anymore, I can only find the exact one I prefer in travel system form). The insert design promotes excellent positioning without pushing babies heads forward. The hip harness and crotch buckle adjust to be absolutely tiny (this seat starts at 3lbs). Between the harness adjustments and the insert, the positioning for small babies is truly excellent. - Joie Mint Latch- this baseless car seat has rigid latch anchors that pop right out on the seat itself, which 1. Is a huge safety feature and 2. Makes this seat just as convenient as seats with bases - its just as fast to get in and out of the car as it is to pop my other car seat in and out of the base. The harness doesnt adjust as small as the Litemax (almost nothing does) but the body insert is supportive and the harness fit for 5lbs is good. I see this seat often and sometimes I do have to remove the head insert because it can push some babies heads forward but overall quite pleased with it (Ive been using it for my youngest for about a year now!) - Chicco Keyfit35/Keyfit Max (same product with updated limits and names to comply with new federal regulations about infant car seat weight limits). Fits small babies wonderfully, is very user friendly, minimal adjustments needed over the life of the seat (remove the body insert at 11lbs and click the headrest higher as baby grows but thats it). There is a built in headrest and a removable cushioned head insert that sits on top of that- I usually remove the extra insert to avoid heads being pushed forward in a chin to chest position. - Graco- avoid the Snugride Lite models, they dont fit *well* until 7-9lbs depending on babys build. This can be worked around by using a crotch roll but thats a hassle, just avoid it. If you want a Graco seat, opt for one with a large headrest like [this one](https://www.gracobaby.com/shop/car-seats/infant-car-seats/snugride-snugfit-dlx-infant-car-seat/SAP_2156211.html). These models have an infant body insert that is actually supportive and useful (avoiding the issues with the Lite models) and they allow you to shorten the crotch buckle for an improved fit if needed. There are several trim levels with different names - the extra stuff like winter covers and one hand adjust handles and whatnot are irrelevant, you can pick a model with the right type of headrest that meets your price preferences and has whatever bonus accessories you like. - Clek Liing - pricy but *amazing* for preemies. If you want a bougie car seat then this is the one to get for a preemie (skip everything Uppababy, and most Nunas). The infant insert is unique in the US but a common style in Europe- the babys butt sits on a block shaped shelf to promote good body position and prevent slouching. Ive known people to balk at this design because it looks odd for US consumers but MAN its effective! The base is also lots of fun - rigid latch and load leg are great every management features. One of my own 27 week twins came home from the NICU in a Liing on his due date. - Nuna Pipa Urbn: same category as the Joie Mint Latch, its a baseless seat that clicks directly into the vehicle latch anchors. The other Pipa models (the ones with bases) arent my favorite for tiny preemies but the Urbn is lovely because it has smaller harness adjustments and a more supportive insert setup than the other Pipa models. The head insert has two layers and I usually remove the top layer to prevent it from pushing little heads forward. My youngest used this one for a while too! Two major drawbacks: its only available as a travel system with a stroller so its expensive and you dont have the full market of stroller options to choose from unless you want to spend *more* money. (I have the Triv model stroller with mine and its solid but Im not a Nuna stroller fangirl in general. More often I used the Urbn with my Bugaboo Butterfly stroller with adaptors). Aaand it has a maximum weight limit of 22lbs (compared to 30-35lbs for the others on this list). Most babies outgrow a 30-35lb car seat by height way before they reach the weight limit, but 22lbs comes quickly especially for higher percentile babies. My 80th percentile youngest was too heavy for this seat by like 8 months old. - skip baby trend. For the love of NICU CPSTs everywhere, please dont get a BabyTrend seat. ??
r/NICUParents • View on Reddit →This is a new limit. Our Pipa urbn purchased just last fall goes up to 22 lbs. So if it currently says 30 lbs, that must be only for a model put out within the last year.
r/Buyingforbaby • View on Reddit →We had a Nuna Pipa Urbn which was great at first as its easy to use and clip into vehicles BUT we ended up having to send it back as it put our LO in a really awkward position and would cause her into the chin to chest position which isnt safe at all. We had numerous communications with Nuna to try different positions and they were great, but we couldnt resolve it so they gave us a refund. We now have the Maxi-cos pebble which has been great as it has 3 reclining positions and is easy to install into other cars with the seatbelt and it only takes a few minutes. Check the attachments as a lot of brands use the same attachments so even though we had the nuna pram the maxi-cos car seat still attached using the nuna pipa urbn attachment. Good luck and congratulations for June

We did a Nuna seat and Bugaboo strollers, and I think a lot of seats work with those Maxi-Cosi type adapters. Ive heard fantastic things about the Clek. Do we use the seat with the travel stroller often? Not at all. Is it even necessary? Probably not. Is it nice to have? Yes. Would I be mad at myself in a situation where it would be handy if I *hadnt* gotten a compatible car seat/travel stroller combo? Absolutely. So, completely necessary? Nah. But if youre even questioning it, that means youll probably find yourself in a situation later on where you will appreciate just going ahead with it.

Im hoping its good enough quality that I can use it for my second. Its honestly super nice but getting a stroller and car seat that was green guard certified was a top priority for me. I dont want my baby exposed to excess chemicals and flame retardant fumes. I really hated that it was so expensive though.
r/BabyBumps • View on Reddit →For us, no. We have the Nuna. Babies just hate being confined. Mine screamed every time she was in her seat from 4 months to 9 months! We played around with the Chicco and Cosco seats too, to see if any would help (nope - they didn't!). We ended up switching to a Britax One4Life around the 4 month mark to give her more space and so she could sit up more and see the world, but still dealt with screaming. Same thing happened to my friend who used both the Chicco and Graco systems for their two cars. They will eventually grow out of the screaming - we tried to bring a lot of entertainment and snacks to distract her and it helped immensely. She's just over 2 years old now and chills in her carseat for trips so it will get better, I promise you!

r/Buyingforbaby • View on Reddit →Not sure how old your little ones are but my 3 month old just took his 3rd flight today. The first two we had him as a lap infant because we had a car seat at the destination. It wasnt too hard but definitely much easier with him in the car seat. He has a nuna pipa urbn (so you can compare size) & it fit perfectly in between the arms rests. The arm rests do raise as well, but we didnt need to. The car seat also fit well down the aisle. Southwest allows 2 car seats in a row, but they have to be window & middle seat. Depending how old & if you breastfeed or not but we waited to feed him his bottle until we were taking off so that his first burping we could take him out of the car seat. If you have a seat for the child they have to be in the car seat during takeoff & landing which is somewhat difficult when they are so little especially if you breastfeed. If you arent going to offer a bottle a pacifier works too because they need to pop their ears manually on the way up & down. Depending on age as well being new toys that they have never seen before as it will occupy them longer. If they are still little they will most likely just sleep the whole time. Lastly, remember this is a form a public transportation. Children & babies are allowed to act like children & babies. Dont be embarrassed or get overwhelmed by other people (easier said than done I know). You got this!!

We have one but honestly the price tag just doesnt make sense unless youre really sold on it and it fits your stroller needs. We really liked the concept of being able to use it without a base, but the way it functions without the base is pretty annoying (strap across lap). Its light, but they all get heavy fast, so thats similarly not something that rises to the price tag, IMO.
