Nuna - PIPA Lite Rx

I had a Nuna (Pipa Lite RX) with my first and the Joie Mint this time and prefer the Mint! My baby always kicked off the sky drape on the Nuna and the Joie Mint honestly feels like similar quality to me (I have the maple that comes with the nutmeg). Strollers and convertible car seats are worth spending extra money on in my opinion, infant seats are outgrown too quickly to justify it to me. They all go through the same safety testing.

I have a Nuna Rava forward facing behind the driver seat, and a Nuna Pipa rear facing behind the passenger. Both front seats need to move forward from where we'd normally have them to accommodate the car seats behind. I'm 6'2" and when I drive, I do need to move the seat forward a good amount from my normally position because my 4 year old would other wise have only a couple inches for her feet. There is not room to comfortably fit a third person in the middle seat of the second row I'd say. And no easy way to get to the third row with two car seats installed.

That’s why I feel like Nuna is a waste lol. The evenflo are very very very easy to install, so it doesn’t make any sense to buy extra bases, and they don’t even make them actually

We personally got a car seat that would be compatible with both the full sized and travel stroller. We did a Nuna seat and Bugaboo strollers, and I think a lot of seats work with those Maxi-Cosi type adapters. I’ve heard fantastic things about the Clek. Do we use the seat with the travel stroller often? Not at all. Is it even necessary? Probably not. Is it nice to have? Yes. Would I be mad at myself in a situation where it would be handy if I *hadn’t* gotten a compatible car seat/travel stroller combo? Absolutely. So, completely necessary? Nah. But if you’re even questioning it, that means you’ll probably find yourself in a situation later on where you will appreciate just going ahead with it.

We got the Joolz Aer+ (Aer2 wasn’t out yet) + Bassinet. We love it and baby really loves the bassinet best (no straps and just chills). Also I love the bassinet is foldable and can be trunked pretty easily. We also have a Nuna car seat. Joolz Aer has the adapters that are compatible. The Nuna came with the RX base. Honestly, with additional bases we were offered and gifted so many Nuna bases from friends. I’ll bet marketplace has a bunch of bases too. This might be an option ?????

The lighter Nuna car seat was absolutely worth it for me as a petite woman. Also getting the matching Nuna TRVL stroller with the one handed open/close that doesn’t require any additional pieces for that car seat to click into it was a game changer for travel when kiddo was an infant. We also have the Nuna Rava now which is extraordinarily comfy. Feel bad when we travel and we put the kid in a cheaper car seat that’s more portable. The difference is incredibly noticeable. The Tripp Trapp we also love with the various attachments for each stage of life. If my next kid is not a good sleeper, I’ll rent the snoo. Didn’t need it with my first. ETA: Again for travel, the Guava Lotus and Slumperpod are also amazing to have. Plus the No Reception Club carry-on and diaper bags.

I think you'll be happy with either stroller - but I would really recommend looking at Nuna car seats instead of UB. UB just doesn't design their seats as well and there are more issues with fit than Nuna ever has. Do you expect another kid in the near future? I prefer the fold of the Demi to the Vista. I get so annoyed with closing the Vista and opening it, but it is a dream to push! I also love that the Demi comes with a built in mosquito net, and the second kid seat is not reduced limits like on the Vista. I never even tried the Demi unfortunately and I regret it!!

We got the nuna mixx travel system, the Pipa Lite seat clicks into the stroller if you need it for quick trips into the shop when baby sleeps, but it's very highly rated for safety and both of our babies have enjoyed sitting/sleeping in it.

The fact that my Nuna weighs less than 9 lbs is why I own it, every person who’s ever grabbed the seat has complimented how lightweight and easy it is to maneuver. And I’d buy it over and over again!

This was me! I had a Pipa Lite and a Mixx and was very happy with them, no bassinet needed. I will say that I wish I had gone for a regular Pipa instead of Lite - the lite doesnt have the full sunshade, which I wanted, and it cannot be used without a base. Things to consider!

What about Nunas? We had the pipa lite and you don't need the base if you were to take it into another car. It used the seatbelt to strap it in. I also have a used uppababay that sold locks that made the nuna fit into the stroller. So idk i havent looked in a while but maybe they make a bigger version?

I think personal preference, personality, first time parents, and overconsumption is a huge part of this. As a FTM, husband and I wanted to splurge specifically on a nuna system (mainly because you didn’t need a base in every car to use and I see resale ones on FB marketplace), but were lucky as heck a grandparent wanted to gift us the funds for it… Aside from that initial planned investment, I asked for pre-loved clothes at my shower. Registered for a microwave sterilizer vs a machine. Couldn’t decide on a carrier bc they are overwhelming to pick and so expensive, so I settled for a boba wrap at least for the newborn phase. Even though they were gifts I wasn’t paying for, I didn’t want to contribute to overconsumption. Curious if there are specific items you are looking for? You got this!

I love my mom cozy stroller and the nuna car seat! It’s a travel system which is so worth it in my opinion

We love our nuna and so did our baby. He screamed when he was in the Uppababy car seat but was happy as a clam in the nuna.

Which seat? The harness height on all of Nuna’s seats is SHORT. If you have a tall kid they will outgrow the seats earlier than expected. For us the infant seat was also short-lived because my kid started hating it by like 5 months and we switched to convertible , so that felt a waste to me. Also Nuna’s textiles stain, discolor and sun bleach super easily and look terrible. I am learning that it’s more common to have to replace a seat due to damage from something like frequent accidents or sickness /body fluids because there are so many dang rules about how to clean and you cant use basically anything, I would say Nuna is not worth the money.

We got our Nuna car seat from Kidsy at a discount because it was overstock. It was brand new and arrived super fast

My son hates nuna - we switched to graco and he was so much happier. But there is a stage where they just hate the car seat in general though

I liked my nuna and found it very easy and lightweight (had a c section so that helped) I also had a nuna car seat but with us wanting a second kid I do regret getting the nuna!

We brought our nuna car seat and used it in our rental car and in my MIL car, has attachments that clip in. Wasn't an issue anywhere (WA or VIC).

I have a Nina pipa and a 360 seat in my husbands car and I Love the 360 so much more. The Nuna is technically “nicer” but it’s so much more work.

Nuna is so easy to install compared to others. I found it rarely "moves", unless I did something wrong installing it. I thought our Graco moved too much no matter what.

Separate worked better for us! We bought the Nuna car seat first and paired it with the Mamazing Air Lux since it’s light and has a built in adapter. We did use the car seat on the stroller early on, but that phase didn’t last as long as we expected once baby got heavier. Now we mostly just use the stroller itself. It’s been easy to push and light enough that we’re comfortable using it for travel too, so going separate has ended up working for us longer.

We have a new defender and used a Nuna infant car seat. Newer cars have latch bars that the car seats click into hut they also have ways to secure them using a seatbelt. So long as your seatbelts function properly you shouldn’t have an issue fitting most brands. Our kiddo outgrew the infant car seat so we just got Chicco brand convertible & reversible seat and base.

The Nuna is soooo easy to install and that makes it my #1 just for that lol

Night nurse and/or postpartum overnight doula. Few nights a week for however many weeks you can comfortably afford. Worth. Every. Penny. As for goods: Thule jogging stroller has been fantastic for us, though we walk frequently and on subpar roads/trails. We went with the Nuna Pipa Lite car seat and liked it, but have the UppaBaby Vista 2 as our stroller chassis and wish we’d just bought a compatible UppaBaby car seat (to deal with less converters and components). A good, breathable crib mattress is a must. We’ve liked the Newton. Lastly, the Baby Brezza is a game changer if you formula feed at all. The rest we’ve gotten a ton of mileage out of gently used and secondhand: clothes, toys, accessories, etc.

I was able to get two of the Diono Radian seats forward facing and a rear facing Nuna with the base in the back seat of our CRV. It was TIGHT but it worked

I have a Nuna car seat. The base stays in our family car. When I take Ubers with my baby, the car seat can easily and quickly be fastened with a seatbelt. There’s instructions on how to do it properly.

Nuna is about the parent conveniences. I had a Nuna infant car seat and it was super simple to strip and wash, intuitive to use the buckles, had simple but critical things like a hook to place car seat belts, and was a breeze to adjust and tighten. I curse my current car seat every time I have to use it and miss the nuna luxuries lol. I would just compare for features. Of the joie has all the similar features just maybe less cushy fabrics. I’d say that’s a good bargain version.

This was >6 years ago, so take it for what it is. We had the Pipa Lite, our cousin had the KeyFit. When we flew to go visit, we borrowed it bc by this time her cousin was in a convertible. The KeyFit was HEAVY compared to the Pipa. Made us miss our Pipa sooo much

We got the full travel system in a bundle - actually the pram place we got it from agreed to price match to a deal we found online, so we got it for almost 50% off which was crazy. The car seat, isofix base, buggy chassis, bassinet and stroller seat all came in the bundle along with a foot muff, two rain covers and different adapters. The Pipa Lite is only up to a certain weight limit or 12 months I believe, whichever came first. So our heavy boy actually outgrew that by 9 months but we will obviously get a second use out of it with this baby so not too great a loss. The stroller has had much more longevity for us and we would be continuing to use it with him for a while yet if we didn't need it for baby!

CPST- feel free to PM me for more details or suggestions. Basically some of the more expensive brands are more complicated to install or are outgrown more quickly. For instance the nuna infant seat needs a rolled towel to get it level in most vehicles. Uppababy infant seats are outgrown very quickly. You mentioned Clek but Clek is one brand that is very recommended by techs. I own 3 of them myself. The Clek liing is one of the most highly recommended infant seats on the market. We couldn't use it in our vehicles because we have Ev's but that would have been my top pick otherwise. We own 3 Clek foonfs. The Clek also has adaptors for uppababy strollers if you go that route.

Don’t splurge on the infant car seat, there’s no need to spend 500 dollars on something they’ll use for a year at max. The Graco infant seats are well regarded, and many strollers will have adapters for it. I bought a nuna seat and somewhat regret the money spent but it is what it is. For a winter baby I definitely recommend an infant seat, we live in a cold climate and it was so convenient to pop our seat into the stroller. Strollers are so personal and honestly you won’t find one that really checks all the boxes if you want to do things like travel. We have a nuna demi grow because I originally wanted kids closer but that didn’t happen, and I’ve barely used that stroller with baby #2. I have the uppababy minu that’s been our go to because it’s light and we bought car seat adapters for it, but the basket isn’t very roomy at all. My friend has a Thule jogger which is great for slushy and snowy weather, and she got adapters for her car seat. I would have picked the uppababy Cruz for my daily stroller if I could go back!

I went with the cheapest Nuna travel system. It was around $800 for both the infant car seat and stroller combined. I’m hoping it’s good enough quality that I can use it for my second. It’s honestly super nice… but getting a stroller and car seat that was green guard certified was a top priority for me. I don’t want my baby exposed to excess chemicals and flame retardant fumes. I really hated that it was so expensive though.

We decided on nuna when I was around 14 weeks pregnant. Its lightweight and quick to pop in and out of the trunk. It's my one baby purchase I bought during pregnancy that I didn't regret or ended up having to buy another brand. I'd recommend going to a Nordstrom or similar department store that carries them to try them out. We did this and it helped us pick which one fit our needs best.

Vista car seat is too large and bulky. Get the Nuna travel system. I HATE my uppa baby vista. It’s so large and bulky. I ended up buying the Nuna Triv. I originally bought the Nuna Trvl LX, but returned it

I have two car seats in the back - Nuna Rava and Pipa. There is still some space but the middle seat is purely a cup holder. We use a travel stroller (Yoyo) and it fits in the trunk easily. Not the best family car but a great daily driver with or without the kids.

I've done it with 3 the same ages you mentioned and it was perfect. The oldest went in a high-back booster in the middle of the second row. I bought the Volvo booster since it's a bit more narrow than others and leaves more room to buckle. The other two carseats were a Nuna Pipa with base and a Diono Radian 3R.

I don’t have a full system but the nuna car seat and its adapters work well with our stroller (babyzen yoyo). We do find it’s easier to release one side at a time.

Yes! We came home with our newborn in uber. We had nuna pipa which clips into uber / Lyft and rental cars. Like others said you can order a car with child seat but those are hard to find. We have used once for airport travel and reserved in advance and it is nuna car seat. I believe they have a partnership.

Oh you're totally fine! We have expensive seats. (Nuna, Britax, and Evenflo 360) A couple of the seats, were bought for our oldest before we had twins, but I have found that the Graco seats are still really nice and easy to install/clean. My friend has the extend2fits, and I wish I had gotten something like that. The Nuna's and the Evenflo 360 are such pains to take apart and clean.

Nuna has one of the highest ratings for ease of installing/latch/use!
