I live downtown and have the a Uppababy Cruz as well and I definitely recommend it. It’s easy to fold, navigates the streets well and I’ve never had issues getting into stores. The only thing I haven’t done with it is take it on the street car (pre-baby I took the streetcar daily, now I always either walk or drive). Two considerations for you… Bassinet - I purchased the Uppababy bassinet separately because it doesn’t come included with the Cruz and my baby ended up hating the bassinet. We ended up purchasing the Uppababy infant snug seat which you can put in the stroller seat (fully reclined) and my baby preferred that SO much more. So you could look into doing that as well which would save you a little $. Car seat - we tested the Uppababy Mesa car seat in our car and it didn’t fit well. I also heard most babies outgrow it by height earlier than other seats. We ended up getting the Clek Liing car seat with adapters so it can still click onto the stroller easily. I would recommend you to go SnuggleBugz or West Coast Kids and test the car seats in your car to see what fits best. Hope this helps!

You can reach out to Angelcab to see what car seats it’s compatible with. But we have the u Series and Clek Liing seat and you need to make sure you buy the iso fix adapter from Angelcab to ensure it fits. If you want to use the Angelcab bassinet, it doesn’t use the adapter so it can be annoying to have to switch from bassinet to car seat.

With my first I had uppababy cruz with an infant insert, she was a July baby so we did outside walks in it pretty much right away. For car seat we had a Graco snug ride, we didn't have a car at that time so needed something light and easy to bring on Uber rides. We got a car when baby was a year old and at that point she outgrew the bucket seat and we got a clek fllo. This time around I'm due in Feb. Planning to use the same cruz with infant insert with a clek liing car seat. I don't find the bassinet attachment to be very important. I love my cruz though, it's a great urban stroller.

We are big fans of clek. My first had a clek fllo from around 1 year to 5 years then graduated to a clek oobr. I'm expecting and due in Feb with my second and just bought the clek liing for the baby. Clek car seats are on sale now for 20% off. I love that they are made in Canada, and some of the best safety tested seats available.

I went with the Silver Cross Reef 2 for the stroller and the Clek Liing for the car seat. I opted out of the bassinet option for the stroller since it has a lay flat seat and is compatible from birth. The stroller is beautiful and it feels very study. The wheels have great shock absorption and the basket can carry quite a bit. It is a heavy duty stroller and is great for walking, but I don’t think you would want to travel with it or be constantly loading/unloading it. I love the car seat since it doesn’t expire for 9 years, has a bunch of additional safety features, and materials do not have flame retardants.

If you have the room, highly recommend just getting either a mini crib or putting the crib in your room. You’re not supposed to use the bassinet once baby starts rolling even if they don’t meet the maximum weight criteria. That can be as early as 3ish months if you’ve got an early roller. I love the ikea singlar. No paint and it’s a smooth finish, best bang for your buck. Clek liing car seat and we love the bumbleride era. The liing is compatible with a bunch of stollers, you just need the appropriate adapter.

I got the Bugaboo Fox 5 Renew and plan to get the Clek Liing car seat (it is compatible with the Bugaboo!). We live in a city with very uneven cobblestone sidewalks, so a stroller with good suspension was a must for us. I compared the Bugaboo side by side with both Nuna and Uppababy strollers and was pretty surprised by the noticeable difference in how it drives. Echoing others about Clek’s safety ratings! It also helps that it is compatible with our stroller.

I had a Clek Liingo without a base and used it for the first year. It's currently $399, but usually goes on sale... https://clekinc.ca/collections/infant-car-seats/products/liingo Edited to add- I used it with my Bugaboo Fox for everyday (with adapters), and with the Mountain Buggy Nano for travelling (no adapters required). I also flew with it several times, and gate checked it in a carsea bag from Amazon. I now use the Nuna Rava, which is convertible seat and HUGE for everyday, and the Cosco Scenera for flying/travelling

We got the grow with me 0-10 years EvenFlo carseat first, then a secondhand Uppababy stroller with bassinet attachment, and then on recommendation we also got a bucket carseat and got the Clek Liing secondhand ?? If I could do it all over I'd stick with the bucket car seat and the secondhand stroller (most bucket car seats are compatible with most strollers brands so you can mix and match secondhand!) Trust me you want to bucket for appointments and easy in and out of stores and things. Then I would get the 360' bigger car seat for when she outgrows the bucket. Our baby is currently outgrown the bucket and is in the bigger 0-10 year car seat and it's killing my body to put her in and out, I want that spinny! Very happy with my ancient secondhand Uppababy stroller and bassinet combo, went for TONS of napping walks with the baby in that. Also used the bassinet detached as a travel cot for the newborn baby when visiting my parents. These are things that you definitely don't need brand new so save your money here.

Probably a good idea to do some reading yourself first on what you may need and what to look for in those different product categories. Crib: no storage space underneath, restricts airflow, harder to clean. Any basic crib works. IKEA is fine. Babyletto isn’t expensive and is basic and fine. Don’t get metal. What to sleep on: you can start with a bassinet if you want. It’s just a smaller footprint so can fit beside your bed and easier to access. A full size crib is perfectly fine too if you prefer and have no issues fitting that in and reaching down. Another option inbetween those two exists called a mini crib. Stroller: it depends what you intend to do with it. Bumbleride era / Indy is pretty consistently well rated and reviewed but it’s on the heavier side. Stroller + car seat combo: don’t combine these. A car seat is for car crashes. A newborn young baby shouldn’t be in a car seat for long periods or unnecessarily. You want a “pram” or a stroller with a bassinet that lies flat. Car seat: Clek Liing. When they outgrow it you can move on to uppababy rove.

However now that my baby is 5 month she is getting quite heavy therefore I will most likely just keep the car seat in the car and use stroller base more. I didn't use my bassinet much as shr didn't like

Buy the car seat that gives you the safest install with your vehicle. Then look at compatible strollers. As others mentioned, the CPST Seats for Kids group is great. I did not get the seat that matched my stroller (UB Mesa with the Vista) because I wasn’t convinced it was a great seat for the price and my research determined it was a bad fit for my small vehicle. I ended up with the Clek Liing, which had added safety features, fit well in my car, and bonus was made in Canada.

Stroller: Uppababy Vista V2 Pros:  1. the big wheels make it great for going off sidewalk with it (we're big hikers) 2. the bassinet is sleep safe and we've used it a ton for visiting friends/grandparents/vacations as our sleep space 3. Lots of storage  Cons:  1.  Takes up a lot of space in the car. We actually find it fits very nicely in our front hall cupboard, which isn't big (condo living), but it takes a fair bit of trunk space  2. Expensive if you buy new. We got ours used with all the accessories for $350. Car seat: clek Liing  Pros: 1. Made in Canada with a good safety rating 2. Easy to wipe down 3. Easy to adjust straps/set up 4. Able to be used safely without the base if grandparents want to take baby somewhere  Cons: 1. Expensive  2. Heavy

Bugaboo fox 5 renew + clek liing. Best stroller / car seat combo and bonus, Clek is Canadian! Bugaboo is also an amazing brand for strollers. I had a winter baby and the bucket seat was essential without a garage. Being able to get her in her seat in the house and then bundle her up safely was such a help. Had I had a Spring baby, I would have considered going straight to convertible. You can’t put them in a snow suit or anything thick under the car seat buckle, so I would get her in the seat inside in thinner clothing, then bundle a blanket and a car seat winter cover to get her to the car. I only used the seat in the stroller for quick errands, but it was much more convenient than taking her in and out to run into pharmacy for 5 minutes. I used the Clek Liing because it was one of the best fits for my small car and I loved it. Can’t wait to use it again in a few weeks for baby #2.

Another vote for the Clek Liing! We ended up going with the Cybex gazelle stroller. It’s a single to double stroller and we also got the bassinet attachment. We found it lighter than the Bugaboo Kangaroo and we chose it over the Uppa Baby Vista because in the double version, the uppa baby can only have the infant bassinet on the bottom and my husband really wanted a double stroller that could have the bassinet on the top part of the double stroller. The cybex can accommodate both configurations! It’s also a beautiful stroller

My baby also hated her infant car seat (a Clek Liing) so I splurged and got a Nuna Rava when she was 6 months old. It’s decent but I do somewhat regret buying it because it was SO expensive. When we bought a second convertible seat for my husband’s car, we bought a Graco Extend2fit for half the price at Costco. I believe I paid $300 and last time I was there they were still in stock at the St. James location. She is just as comfortable in the Graco and it was actually easier to install. It even has a higher rear facing weight limit than the Nuna. They feel similar in quality so in hindsight I wish I had just gone with Graco for both and saved some money.

The uppababy car seats notoriously are hard to install at the correct angle. The CPST we saw said she hates installing/ checking them. We have a Clek liing, is it better than other cheaper car seats? Probably not. We liked the fact it was a Canadian company and had the load leg so that’s why we went with it. Nurtured in Halifax is where we ordered our car seat and stroller (Uppababy Vista V3) from. Definitely worth a trip to the store to test things out. It’s about a 4.5 hour drive for me but it was worth it.

I had a very fancy bucket seat, the Clek Liing. We loved it! Very high quality and easy to use base that stays in the car. It's compatible with a ton of strollers, worked on our Uppa Baby Vista, which we also loved and used with the bassinet attachment too, which if you walk a lot definitely get. Baby was so much more comfy sleeping in the bassinet than the bucket seat. (Got it all on facebook marketplace, btw, but if budget isn't an option go nuts! I bought the Clek from a family where the dad was a firefighter and was verrrry choosy about car seats having seen so many car accidents.)

Assuming you mean travel system… there are lots and you can also “mix and match” so to speak, Nuna is not the only one and they come at a variety of price points (you could get a travel system, or get a stroller separately from the car seat but get attachments to use together). We have a Liing and love it. It’s very light. Installation with or without base is very easy and secure. Since the biggest cause of car seat failure is improper installation, easy to install is a priority for us. We have an older version but the new ones zip off for easy cleaning, which is awesome. Rotation isn’t a big deal for me (lucky enough to be able bodied) in an infant seat because the kiddos just aren’t that heavy compared to the heavy preschoolers you lift into a convertible seat.

NICU based car seat tech here- - Evenflo Litemax, especially the models with the one piece body insert like [this one](https://www.evenflo.com/products/pivot-modular-car-seats-and-stroller-travel-systems) (not sure they sell this specific car seat on its own anymore, I can only find the exact one I prefer in travel system form). The insert design promotes excellent positioning without pushing babies’ heads forward. The hip harness and crotch buckle adjust to be absolutely tiny (this seat starts at 3lbs). Between the harness adjustments and the insert, the positioning for small babies is truly excellent. - Joie Mint Latch- this baseless car seat has rigid latch anchors that pop right out on the seat itself, which 1. Is a huge safety feature and 2. Makes this seat just as convenient as seats with bases - it’s just as fast to get in and out of the car as it is to pop my other car seat in and out of the base. The harness doesn’t adjust as small as the Litemax (almost nothing does) but the body insert is supportive and the harness fit for 5lbs is good. I see this seat often and sometimes I do have to remove the head insert because it can push some babies’ heads forward but overall quite pleased with it (I’ve been using it for my youngest for about a year now!) - Chicco Keyfit35/Keyfit Max (same product with updated limits and names to comply with new federal regulations about infant car seat weight limits). Fits small babies wonderfully, is very user friendly, minimal adjustments needed over the life of the seat (remove the body insert at 11lbs and click the headrest higher as baby grows but that’s it). There is a built in headrest and a removable cushioned head insert that sits on top of that- I usually remove the extra insert to avoid heads being pushed forward in a chin to chest position. - Graco- avoid the Snugride Lite models, they don’t fit *well* until 7-9lbs depending on baby’s build. This can be worked around by using a crotch roll but that’s a hassle, just avoid it. If you want a Graco seat, opt for one with a large headrest like [this one](https://www.gracobaby.com/shop/car-seats/infant-car-seats/snugride-snugfit-dlx-infant-car-seat/SAP_2156211.html). These models have an infant body insert that is actually supportive and useful (avoiding the issues with the Lite models) and they allow you to shorten the crotch buckle for an improved fit if needed. There are several “trim levels” with different names - the extra stuff like winter covers and one hand adjust handles and whatnot are irrelevant, you can pick a model with the right type of headrest that meets your price preferences and has whatever bonus accessories you like. - Clek Liing - pricy but *amazing* for preemies. If you want a bougie car seat then this is the one to get for a preemie (skip everything Uppababy, and most Nunas). The infant insert is unique in the US but a common style in Europe- the baby’s butt sits on a block shaped “shelf” to promote good body position and prevent slouching. I’ve known people to balk at this design because it looks odd for US consumers but MAN it’s effective! The base is also lots of fun - rigid latch and load leg are great every management features. One of my own 27 week twins came home from the NICU in a Liing on his due date. - Nuna Pipa Urbn: same category as the Joie Mint Latch, it’s a baseless seat that clicks directly into the vehicle latch anchors. The other Pipa models (the ones with bases) aren’t my favorite for tiny preemies but the Urbn is lovely because it has smaller harness adjustments and a more supportive insert setup than the other Pipa models. The head insert has two layers and I usually remove the top layer to prevent it from pushing little heads forward. My youngest used this one for a while too! Two major drawbacks: it’s only available as a travel system with a stroller so it’s expensive and you don’t have the full market of stroller options to choose from unless you want to spend *more* money. (I have the Triv model stroller with mine and it’s solid but I’m not a Nuna stroller fangirl in general. More often I used the Urbn with my Bugaboo Butterfly stroller with adaptors). Aaand it has a maximum weight limit of 22lbs (compared to 30-35lbs for the others on this list). Most babies outgrow a 30-35lb car seat by height way before they reach the weight limit, but 22lbs comes quickly especially for higher percentile babies. My 80th percentile youngest was too heavy for this seat by like 8 months old. - skip baby trend. For the love of NICU CPSTs everywhere, please don’t get a BabyTrend seat. ??

Only infant bucket seats are compatible with strollers. They're all exclusively rear-facing.  I recommend the Clek Liing for the car seat. It's very highly safety rated and made in Canada. Their site has a list of compatible strollers. I went with the Thule Urban Glide 2; if I was doing it again I'd probably go with my first instinct, which was Uppababy Cruz. The Urban Glide is very smooth, but it's huge, which sucks for taking it anywhere. It also can't have the baby facing you unless you're using it with the car seat - the stroller seat is forward-facing.

I think you will regret not having a bucket seat when it can be used for on average the first year of life. Transporting potato stage baby requiring neck support and trying to lock your door behind you would be quite difficult. If you’re in an apartment that also means carrying baby in arms down hall, elevator, stairs, etc. Clek Liing is made in Canada and while all seats for sale pass safety requirements these are minimums. The build quality and rigid latch connection style of the Liing suggest to me a higher safety profile. If you do go convertible you should check out the uppababy ROVE for the highest rear facing weight limit, which is equal to the extend2fit, and one of the Clek, fllo or foomf I never remember and hate their names.

Many people buy a infant seat then buy a convertible ehrn they're outgrown. It is possible to use a convertible from birth if your baby is big enough for your seat specs. The downside to this is that you will have to load baby into the seat in the vehicle rather than just popping the bucket seat out. You'll also need to either babywear or purchase a bassinet attachment for your stroller or find one that can accommodate a newborn. Many strollers don't accommodate a child without a bucket seat until they can sit independently, usually around 6 months. You can buy travel systems. I preferred to buy the seat i wanted and the stroller I wanted, with an adapter to accommodate. I'm on my 3rd baby after a 7 year gap. I'm using the same stroller as a decade ago, but the carseats were expired so I got a new carseat and managed with an adapter. I don't have any input on the seats you asked about since I don't own either. In Canada, all seats must meet a minimum safety standard. When buying a seat, look for one that fits your vehicle and your budget. Consider future family as well (will you need to fit more than 2 carseats? Will you regularly have an adult traveling next to a carseat). I ultimately decided on the clek liing for my newborn. Pricey seat, for sure. Great extra safety features, long expiry, compact, and made in Canada.
