Best shoe Ive worn so far is the prodigio pro. They feel so good on climbs. Cant even explain it
r/ultrarunning Alternatives to La Sportiva Bushido as a "do everything" trail running shoe ->Same here, I tried the Prodigio Pro and they felt wider than the Kjerag 1. Couldnt try the Kjerag 2 in my size. Never had any issues with the Matrix upper, but Im not sure what material La Sportiva uses.
r/trailrunning Kjerag 2 VS Prodigio Pro? ->I daily the Evo SL for road work and have been blown away by the La Sportiva Prodigio Pros for my trail running - they excel across the board and can cover all sorts of distances and terrains. I highly recommend IF you can swing the price - if not theres plenty of other great options for much less. Also recommend sizing up one full size. Good luck!
r/trailrunning First Pair of Shoes Recommendation Please ?? ->The ogs were soooo good and grippy and fast but the pros def for like 50 mile and up are sooo light fast and responsive def the best released shoes for a few years imo
r/Ultramarathon Sylan Pro - Arc'teryx ->The ogs were soooo good and grippy and fast but the pros def for like 50 mile and up are sooo light fast and responsive def the best released shoes for a few years imo
r/Ultramarathon Sylan Pro - Arc'teryx ->I was having ankle pain from over pronation and needed a shoe with stronger support, I ended up going back to my Sportiva Akashas and the pain started the let up right away. Theyre a heavy shoe and may not fit your needs based on where you are but I like em! I also just got a pair of Sportiva prodigio pros that seem to be super cushiony but still supportive, but I only have 1 run on them
r/trailrunning Trail shoes for weak ankles ->I found a pair in Italy when I was there a few weeks ago and theyre objectively the best shoes Ive ever felt, however they dont work with my feet-I get ankle pain in shoes that dont have a super stable/supportive arch and heel. I wish I could use them but I cant. Does anyone have any suggestions that feel like a blend between the Prodigio Pro and the Akasha? I love my Akashas, but my feet run very hot and they melt in them. A more breathable version of the Akashas with the same fit, cushion and support is what Im trying to find! If anyone wants to buy my Prodigio Pros in a 45 EU worn twice for a total of maybe 10mi, let me know!
r/trailrunning La Sportiva Prodigio Pro Review 220km & 12,000m+ Later ->I actually have a pair of s/lab genesis and love them for running, but any supercritical foam gets wrecked on extended scrambles. Mine have 80mi on them and look like a dog chewed them up. My girlfriends prodigio pros are also trashed after 150-200mi of Utah technical running and scrambling. Bummer that the supercritical foams just dont hold up to abrasion like a normal EVA does
r/trailrunning Ideal long day/scrambling shoe ->Norda 005 is very light weight and comfortable. They are expensive though. La Sportiva Prodigio Pro is comfortable, handles technical terrain well and on the lighter end.
r/trailrunning Those unicorn shoes... ->They were much too narrow for my slightly larger than average width foot.
r/trailrunning Is Speedgoat 6 that bad? ->Just getting ready to ship mine back. My normal size is 13 w and ordered a 14 (47). My big toe hit the front and it felt narrow. Not sure Ill try a 15 as I dont know if that would solve the narrowness.
r/trailrunning What's everyone using for shoes these days? ->Reg prodigios and pros are the same size for me. If anything, there's more room in the Pros.
r/trailrunning La sportiva prodigio pro ->Just did a 30km out of the box with them on a real mix of terrain and they're amazing. They've somehow created my perfect trail shoe, absolutely incredible to run in. LS are a half size up for me (from Salmon, Inov8, Hoka etc) by the way but see you ordered them already.
r/trailrunning La sportiva prodigio pro ->Long reply here but I understand this quite niche problem all too well. I have a bunion in the same place on left foot but actually have skinny midfoot so always struggle to get a lockdown in 'wide' shoes. The Inov8 Trailfly and their new range works well here. I'd actually go for the standard fit over wide as the toe box is already foot shaped. The width I think is in the midfoot. For example, I have a pair of precision fit Mudtalons and get a super snug midfoot lockdown but the toebox still lets my foot spread. The problem you actually have is that a lot of 'wide toe box' shoes still carry that super straight line on the inside of the foot which obviously doesn't work. Even the Prodigio Pro mentioned is quite accommodating but suffers from this to a degree as the bunion pushes the mesh out and can become uncomfortable by forcing your foot or all toes away to the side. Salomon shoes are quite bad for this, even though I suck it up and wear them as the midfoot just suits my feet. The Trailfy is the comfiest shoe I've worn in years, and I've even cleaned mine up and now wear them for walking around daily and the gym. They do a Trailtalon too if you need more softground grip, plus a road shoe. Edit to add: if anything like me, mine is just on the one foot so if I buy wide shoes, the other is super sloppy. This is why a better shape toe box works better than a wide fitting shoe in my opinion.
r/trailrunning Help needed to find shoes that fit these feet. ->Shoes fit everyone differently so dont know if theres a best, but I have been loving my La Sportiva Prodigio Pros. Well cushioned, great grip, and love the sock-like upper
r/trailrunning Best trail running shoe? ->495 miles? Mine are at just over 200 and look like that and the midsole is packing out already Im in socal where trails arent that technical. Love the shoe but the durability doesnt seem great on my pair :(
r/trailrunning Prodigio Pro durability ->Had them both, ended up with the La Sportiva. VJ ultra 3 has slightly higher stack and a roomier toe box (but still a nicely snug mid foot and heel). While being lower stack, the Prodigio Pro has a slightly peppier feel I the foam. Both have VERY good grip, with a slight edge to the VJ. Both are better than Vibram Megagrip, and both are surprisingly durable. The reason why I sold my VJ Ultra 3s was the rough upper digging into the sides of my ankle. This is supposed to get better with time but for me it was simply too painful. Should be obvious on a first fitting though. Apparently the next version will redesign that part of the upper, but who knows when that will be released.
r/RunningShoeGeeks VJ Ultra 3 Review ->I ran in the Pro's today, just an easy 5k to test them out and I did get the same size as my reg Prodigos annnnd I need to exchange them for half a size up. They seemed fine when I put them on but once I started running they def squeeze my toes in a bit too much and I felt sore on the base of my foot afterwards. That is just my personal experience, you may have a different experience due to foot shape, etc.
r/trailrunning • View on Reddit →Ive owned both the Prodigio and the prod pros! Prefer the pros for ultras but now that Ive retired my regular prods from running, I love them as a hiking shoe

r/trailrunning • View on Reddit →Not tried on the max but the added padding around the heel and tongue would be great for longer distances. Absolutely love the pro but occasionally get a pinch point from the top lace hole. Doesn't happen every run but has been felt enough to question whether it would be my pick for 100k+ Also a little more cushion under foot might help with really rocky areas where I felt the pros slightly lacking
r/trailrunning • View on Reddit →What type of trails do you run on? La Sportiva Prodigios tend to be well-liked in my neck of the rocky woods, and I love my Merrell Long Sky 2 Matryx, but neither may be appropriate if you're running over smooth trails with your Ultraflys.
r/AskRunningShoeGeeks • View on Reddit →La sportiva prodigios. Spacious toe box, deep heel cup, plenty of cushion but a firm ride, and great traction like all la sportiva shoes. My holy grail. The topo mtn racers are nice too
r/XXRunning • View on Reddit →Have both. Was surprised that the Pros felt like a lot more shoe/more substantial than the Kjerag 2s. I really like both. Pros have more bouncy-vibes but the Kjerag 2s are definitely more lively than the 1s. I just used the Pros for a technical mountain 100M (swiss peaks 170) and they performed very well on rock, dirt, mud, grass, flat or 35% in/declines, rain or shine. The Kjerags would have been too minimal for this i think, and the grip in wet grass/mud would probably not be good enough. For shorter distances in dry conditions, i still think the Kjerag 2s are my prefered
r/trailrunning • View on Reddit →Tecton x2 is one of my favourite trail shoes. Not a soft ride and not the quickest I have used but does everything I want really well. Is hard wearing too. Personally I would say the tecton x3 is the quicker shoe. Much bouncier ride though does sacrifice some stability for it. Adidas speed ultra. You dont have issues rolling ankles? You will in these shoes. Fastest shoe ive tried on open fire trail but you hit the slightest bump wrong and it tries to murder you. Definitely not for heel strikers. Fit didn't agree with me either so gave them away. I will echo other that the prodigio pro might just be the best all round shoe I have used on the market. Not plated but holds speed just as well and handles technical terrain with ease. Sizing can be tricky with them though Have tried the metafuji trails on and the heel felt wildly squishy and unstable. Seeing them used on trails confirmed that for me. Everyone I have seen using them collapses in badly through the heel once they get off the forefoot
r/trailrunning • View on Reddit →You may have just saved my Pridgios from the garbage bin. They destroy the top of my left foot.
r/trailrunning • View on Reddit →I've had the Jackal II, the Prodigio, and now the Prod Pros. Loved them all. Really excellent, rugged shoes with good hiking mileage left after they're done as runners.
r/trailrunning • View on Reddit →I have the same issue, the shoe gave me a tendonitis after intense hill sessions. I am very interested by any fix or feedback on this
r/trailrunning • View on Reddit →I did a techy 50k in Ontario in the La Sportiva Prodigio. Only downside is theyre not amaaaazingly secure on wet rock but theyre not bad
r/trailrunning • View on Reddit →I have 200km in mine after Saturdays race, 46km with 2200m elevation gain and loss. Rubber still looks almost brand new and honestly the trail shoe i reach for 90% of the time due to just how good it is. 6ft and 80kg so definitely not the lightest runner and they are holding up amazingly well. Will definitely buy another pair
r/trailrunning • View on Reddit →Really liking the la sportiva prodigio pros. Bit more expensive but probably better ride quality and the fit is amazing for me. Upper maybe not as comfortable as the mafates but I can live with it
r/trailrunning • View on Reddit →I had the pro but I returned due to breathability issues. I've heard the max is also quite warm. I would like to see some improvement in that aspect from LaSpo.
r/trailrunning • View on Reddit →Gravel is a tricky surface, I agree. It probably depends on the the percentage of a certain terrain in a run that I choose the shoes. Generally, for steep grass I like Mudtalons with 8mm lugs, for snow the Genesis and for barely runnable rocks Bushidos. But then again, there is always a trade-off, since a run is usually composed of different surfaces. As an allrounder in alpine environment, I often go for Dynafit, Prodigio or Ribelle Run. YMMY. (And yes: I might have too many shoes).
r/trailrunning • View on Reddit →Trying to remember and I don't think so no. I just found that while it was nice and nimble it wasn't quite enough cushion for efforts longer than about 50k
r/trailrunning • View on Reddit →Had them both, ended up with the La Sportiva. VJ ultra 3 has slightly higher stack and a roomier toe box (but still a nicely snug mid foot and heel). r/RunningShoeGeeks • View on Reddit →Damn. I wished these worked for me, I love the OG Prodigios and still run in them and love them. Tried these in multiple sizes and they made my feet ache like hell even just walking in them and I have never had that experience in any shoe before. So very strange, esp considering all of my climbing and trail running shoes have always been Sportiva and never had any issues like that!
r/trailrunning • View on Reddit →In Hoka Speedgoat I wear an 11, but also feel fine in a 11.5. In the Prodigio Pros I went to a 45.5. I also bought a 46 which is a little bigger in the toes but still feels good (mostly want that for long races if my feet swell). According to La Sportiva a 45.5 corresponds to a US 12. So my experience for me was sizing up from a US size by at least a half, maybe a full. Hope that helps. (Btw, I have three pairs, love them.)
r/trailrunning • View on Reddit →If you like the fit of La sportiva then try the prodigio pros out. Have done multiple 40+km runs in them through all sorts of terrain and absolutely love them. Currently my absolute favourite trail shoe
r/trailrunning • View on Reddit →Note to anyone succumbing to the La Sportive marketing after watching this... Order your Prodigio Pro at least a full size up. You're best off 1.5 sizes up. I've never seen a running shoe run so far under TTS.
r/Ultramarathon • View on Reddit →Honestly cannot speak highly enough of it. Wish they would make a road shoe version with the same midsole. Definitely try them on to get sizing right though
r/trailrunning • View on Reddit →The LaSpo ProPro is my main trail shoe. It's fantastic. I have to say though, I tried on a pair of the S/Lab Pulsar 4 while I was wearing the Prodigio Pro at a race, and the bounce of the Pulsar felt just like the Prodigio Pro, but in a slightly more streamlined package. The lugs are a little shallower and I can't speak to Salomon's ContraGrip (LaSpo's Frixion White is great), but apparently people have been doing well with the Pulsar 4 over all sorts of distances. And it's a 6mm drop, so that might fit OP's needs.
r/trailrunning • View on Reddit →Shoes fit everyone differently so dont know if theres a best, but I have been loving my La Sportiva Prodigio Pros. Well cushioned, great grip, and love the sock-like upper
r/trailrunning • View on Reddit →Oh I love the Pros. Much better shoe overall, but they're not quite as low to the ground so if you want something with good groundfeel I liked them for that. I didn't have the same issue with the OG prods.
r/trailrunning • View on Reddit →I have around 200 miles on my second pair. Theyve performed as good as my Prodigio Pros. Ill use them for any type of trail, but dont recommend for off trail stuff like talus or scree hopping. The rocker makes them wonky on that type of terrain. Ill be using them for some multi day endeavors this summer. I recommend going a full size down. Not sure why theyve got them sized like they do.
r/Ultramarathon • View on Reddit →Another one of the Prodigio Pros. I have three pairs. One pair has 360 miles on them and still going strong. Used them at everything from 26K race to Crazy Mountain 100M.
r/trailrunning • View on Reddit →I used the La Sportiva Prodigio when I had a carry-on only trip last summer. Worked in mud and didn't wear out too much on pavement either!
r/ultrarunning • View on Reddit →Prodigio Pro is my current pick. Might be billed as a race shoe (they are fast!), but they are amazing as a slower comfy cushioned shoe as well.
r/trailrunning • View on Reddit →Prodigo Pro uses a stretchy inner liner which isn't attached to the outer part of the upper, this allows a decent amount of lateral movement of the sole under the forefoot. I personally don't use it for any super technical terrain or trying to move quickly over difficult terrain.
r/trailrunning • View on Reddit →I tried on all three and they fit roughly the same size for me (+1 euro size from typical). The toe box felt wider but less vertical room in the max compared to the pro.
r/trailrunning • View on Reddit →Bought a pair a month ago, my first La Sportivas. Tried them in the store and fell in love. Had them for 2 weeks and liked them so much I ran Chuckanut 50k in them after only a few short runs. It was a muddy shit show and the shoes were great. No idea how they perform in the desert, and no idea about longevity, but so far I love this shoe. I come from topos and altras, and usually have trouble with fit. Everyone says half size up, but I tried both and stayed true to size. YMMV.
r/trailrunning • View on Reddit →Same here, I tried the Prodigio Pro and they felt wider than the Kjerag 1. Couldnt try the Kjerag 2 in my size. Never had any issues with the Matrix upper, but Im not sure what material La Sportiva uses.
r/trailrunning • View on Reddit →I have a broad forefoot and a narrow heel. Brooks has been good to me as well as La Sportiva. Prodigo Pros and Caldera 8 is what I am working with now. For faster nimbler shoe I have been using the Catamount. Not sure about this latest version, haven't tried it.
r/trailrunning • View on Reddit →Speedboats are probably the worst trail shoe I have ever tried. Had the 5 and have not bothered even looking at the 6. However the hoka mafate speed 4 is probably one of my favourite trail shoes. Run well over 1000ks between a few pairs and zero complaints with them. Lightweight and trail do bot really go hand in hand, dont think I have a single pair under 300g a shoe for my US12 One I am really enjoying this year has been the la sportiva prodigio pro, simply cannot fault that shoe at all.

As several others have said, I have found the La Sportiva Prodigio Pros to be well-cushioned, stable, and grippy. I also recently tried the Salomon S/Lab Ultra Glide and the foam has a very similar nicely-cushioned feel, and the wide base felt stable. I only had a very very limited experience with them though, so I'm not sure how grippy they would be in the Alps.
