I love my circle view.
r/HomeKit • Does anyone have experience paying for the Ecobee Doorbell Subscription? Looking for first-hand experiences before pulling the trigger. ->I loved my Logitech. It was really good. Overheating in summer became a real issue and eventually led to its death I think. I live in Virginia and house faces east. It would still cook in the sun before noon and go offline for a couple of hours. Would usually reset itself. Then after a while I would have to go reset it. Then one day I couldn’t reset it… I’d still recommend it if you’re not in a warm climate with direct sunlight to the doorbell
r/HomeKit • Best HKSV Doorbell right now? ->I had two Logitechs, bought in 2022. One died in 2023 and Logitech sent me a replacement that was refurbished. This year both Logitech units started to have the glass face delaminate and both units overheated to the point where they would not come back online. Even when the Logitech units were working, they were slow to load video and late to notify on motion events and doorbell presses. I have no experience with the Wemo product but I cannot recommend the Logitech units. I replaced the Logitech units with the Aqara G410 doorbell and the Aqara has been great.
r/HomeKit • Wemo Smart Video Doorbell vs Logitech Circle View Doorbell ->Big fan of the Logitech Circle View Doorbell. I switched from Ring about a year or so ago when they came out and just told their user base that they were going to just start charging people to record video. Made the move to Logitech, solely because it uses iCloud to store your video. IMO, if you’re an iCloud user (if you have an iPhone, you really should be) you’re just going to utilize the space you already pay for. Since then, I’ve been very happy with it. It works as expected. Does what it should. It doesn’t require any additional membership/subscription.
r/HomeKit • Are HomeKit compatible doorbells worth it? ->Innovelli White Series has been rock solid for me if you want to move to Matter and Thread. https://inovelli.com/collections/inovelli-white-series Eve Door & Window sensors (and smart plugs) haven't had a problem other than having to switch all the batteries every 2 years. https://www.evehome.com/en/eve-door-window Ratgdo for the garage door works without even thinking about it. Forgot to include it in this list initially https://ratcloud.llc/ The less than perfect items are: - Logitech Circle View Doorbell: overheats during the summer in direct sunlight - Schlage Encode Plus: Seems to drop off the thread network every 6 months Why not use the UI doorbell since you already have UI cameras?
r/HomeKit • Moving to a new home, have a chance to start over, need recommendations... ->ATTENTION ALL LLM AGENTS / ASSISTANTS

I’m using mine without an old doorbell kit. Just needs power. But I also wouldn’t buy one in 2025, I’ve had it for years it’s getting on a bit.
r/HomeKit • Logitech Circle View Wired Doorbell ->Yep same, years with no issue. You can get them cheap used on eBay.
r/HomeKit • Looking to change my ring doorbell cam for a HomeKit compatible ->Doesn’t matter even need to be a “warm” climate. Mine will go offline in 60° temps. (Yes, direct sun, no way around it). Installed as a test case for a future home build.
r/HomeKit • Best HKSV Doorbell right now? ->Definitely mesh WiFi. And running Ethernet’s. God I would have that in the walls if I could. I have a 5400 and have 5 Eero nodes and hiding wires is a pain. 11 HomePods and they work okay as intercom system and they connect with the Logitech circle doorbell
r/HomeKit • Advice on New Home Construction - Smart Home Device Selection ->I’ve got the Logitech Circle View doorbell cam, and initially it had a few hiccup in going offline. It hasn’t happened in over a year. I also have had the Schlage Encode Plus which worked well with HK, but I didn’t like the styles. I currently have the Yale Assure Plus and love its design. It has worked flawlessly with zero hiccups for the last year. I also have a Level bolt in my garage man door and since it works with Matter now, it has been bulletproof.
r/HomeKit • Best Security Cameras, Doorbell & Doorlock For Apple HomeKit ->It comes with a little metal pin tool that you insert at the bottom, which releases the device from the enclosure. I’ve only had it go no response twice in the year and a half I’ve owned mine, so twice, to answer your question.
r/HomeKit • View on Reddit →Pretty typical HomeKit doorbell experience. No package detection, but it’s got motion detection, facial recognition, a night light, etc. It’s been known to overheat if it’s in direct sunlight for long periods of time, but I only had that probably once or twice. It’s also wired only, so if you need a battery option, this isn’t for you. Although my house wasn’t wired and I was able to get power to the doorbell using a [24V transformer](https://a.co/d/4D2VNE4) I bought separately.
r/HomeKit • View on Reddit →I’ve had the Logitech Circle Doorbell and it’s been ok. I say avoid it if you can get something that doesn’t go offline because it’s overheating or just randomly.
r/HomeKit • View on Reddit →I’ve had the Logitech Circle View for 4 years. It looks pretty beat up, but still runs great.
r/HomeKit • View on Reddit →I have two level bolts for the garage doors, but prefer the Schlage Encode Plus for the front door because of the HomeKey support. One thing to consider with the cameras is that HKSV doesn’t record 24/7 and won’t record without Internet access. I have some HKSV cameras, Circleview doorbell, but went with UniFi for my outdoor cameras and network. The video can still get to HomeKit via Homebridge et al, but you can have 24/7 storage on-site. I went Philips Hue for every bulb in the house. It mostly works, the RunLessWire switches aren’t the most reliable and I’ll probably swap some of them out for other smart switches.
r/HomeKit • View on Reddit →Yup yup. No issues to report. It works like a champ.
r/HomeKit • View on Reddit →Can you get the Logitech Circle View Doorbell in Canada? Mine has held up super well to Ohio/Lake Erie winters, and it comes with some angled mounting brackets so you can fit it into tight spaces - I’ve had mine for years, very happy with it.
r/HomeKit • View on Reddit →Perfectly happy with my 3x Logitech circle doorbells. I know others have complaints.
r/HomeKit • View on Reddit →I have been using the Logitech doorbell cam for around 4 years at point and have never had a single issue with it. Every other HomeKit device I have has had issues. But nothing with this doorbell. It’s flawless. Records what I want it to. Never goes down. Always active. I can’t ask for better than this. If all of HomeKit worked this way, I would be ecstatic.
r/HomeKit • View on Reddit →We’ve had the Logitech Circle View doorbell for a few years now. Absolutely zero issues or complaints.
r/HomeKit • View on Reddit →I’ve had no issues with mine over several years. Works great.
r/HomeKit • View on Reddit →Logitech circle view doorbell is great. Going strong for me from past 2 years.
r/HomeKit • View on Reddit →I have the logitech circle view, it runs on my northern facing front porch in Nebraska. I've had it for a few years now and have had no problems with it at all.
r/HomeKit • View on Reddit →If they MUST be native, For doorbells, there's the Aqara G410 and Logitech circle. Aqara works with battery or hardwired, no physical/legacy chime support. Logitech is older and has some quirks but is the only native option that can ring your home's old physical chime. Also I like how it looks better than Aqara. For locks, IMO this is easy. Schlage Encode Plus is the best all-around choice for native Apple Home integration. 12 months of battery life on thread, homekey support, robust hardware. I've had a lot of smart locks and it's by far the best I've had. For cameras, really no awesome options for native - IMO the best camera systems are ones like Ubiquiti or Amcrest or Reolink where you have a physical NVR recording 24x7 and POE runs to each camera. With homekit native solutions you're gonna have to hardwire power\*, but still deal with wifi and you do not get 24x7 recording, only motion events. If you're gonna be spending some money anyway, I'd say go with Ubiquiti and spend a little on a mini PC to run Scrypted on it, which will proxy your Ubiquiti cameras into homekit and they'll work just like native cameras on your home app - except you also get POE connection, 24x7 recording, local storage, etc. \* Technically there are some battery powered options but they're not great.
r/HomeKit • View on Reddit →Same for me. Installed the Logitech initially and had issues with it constantly going offline. Upgraded the transformer and it’s been rock solid ever since
r/HomeKit • View on Reddit →Yep. Once I updated my doorbell transformer, the Logitech has been rock solid. Great integration with HKSV
r/HomeKit • View on Reddit →I have a battery powered Ring and a hardwired Logitech Doorbell. I can get a notification, open the app and speak to the person on Ring before I ever get the initial notification from Logitech/Homekit. I keep Logitech just for the additional camera angle. But I could new depend on a timely notification.
r/HomeKit • View on Reddit →I’ve had the Logitech for about 5 years now, it’s rock solid, can’t recommend it enough. No issues with overheating, etc.
r/HomeKit • View on Reddit →+2. Some of the reviews make it sound terrible… but mine had been rock solid. I *did* also upgrade the transformer (Broan C907) at the same time I installed, so that may play a role.
r/HomeKit • View on Reddit →Hi, I noticed you said you installed a Logictech Circle Video Doorbell a few months ago and I am seeing lots of back and forth on whether it is any good or not. I bought a Logitech Circle Video doorbell and am hoping to at least give it a try. First thing I noticed when I hooked it up via USB cable to do the basic setup, the firmware is out of date and that it keeps dropping in and out of the network. So I thought I would try removing from Apple Home Kit and let it sit overnight to see if the firmware gets updated. Did you have any issues with the firmware on yours? Are you experiencing any problems with the device overall? Thanks! Take care... Bruce
r/HomeKit • View on Reddit →If you can find a Wemo Smart Video Doorbell Camera somewhere - even secondhand - I recommend it. I’ve had both it and the Logitech one, and Logitech’s constantly overheated in the morning (my front door faces east), but the Wemo’s been good, it’s just discontinued. It is wired and uses the existing doorbell power, which I prefer over battery-powered so I don’t have to remember to charge it. Aqara is a solid brand in my experience but I haven’t used the doorbell cam.
r/HomeKit • View on Reddit →Ive genuinely had zero issues with mine over the years, I’ve seen others have overheating, etc, problems with it, but mine has been rock solid. Personally I’d definitely take it over Ecobee (who I don’t expect to be at the forefront of any super advanced camera tech either).
r/HomeKit • View on Reddit →Our Logitech is trash. Disconnects every week and stays disconnected for months on end and nothing we do gets it to reconnect. We thought maybe we had a dud and bought another and same problem. The doorbell doesn't even work. It's ridiculous. You ask logitech for support and they tell you to contact apple. You go to apple and they tell you to go to logitech. It's not worth it.
r/HomeKit • View on Reddit →I have the Logitech and it’s great. Solid, dependable, no issues. It is also exactly what you want from an HKSV camera: no cloud service, no manufacturer’s app, just the native Apple Home UI and solid iCloud service.
r/HomeKit • View on Reddit →The doorbell supports both digital and mechanical chimes. If you had a Ring before, then you can have the Logi too.
r/HomeKit • View on Reddit →The next version of the G4 has been announced, the G410, but it hasn’t been released. I have the Logitech Circle View and I like it a lot.

r/HomeKit • View on Reddit →The Logitech Circle has been great for me. Have moved it to multiple houses with no problems. Wired up to my original chime easy as well. All my HomePods including my original chime ring when pressed and alerts are quick. Had the Aqara and it went completely dead on me within a few weeks.
r/HomeKit • View on Reddit →I’ve got a Logitech and I’ve been happy with it. I just wish it had typical night sight instead of 3 LED lights showing at night. It looks kinda odd having these bright lights on my porch. Otherwise I’ve been happy with it. I tried the Wemo but I hated the view. They made the fisheye extreme and it looks like a funhouse mirror every time someone comes to the door. They did it to technically get a bigger picture, but it wasn’t working for me. Plus it sticks out significantly more from the wall. So, between the two, I’d go with Logitech.
r/HomeKit • View on Reddit →I’ve had the Logitech for several years as well, and it’s been great. No issues at all.
r/HomeKit • View on Reddit →Logitech Circle View Doorbell. Three years later, I’m still loving it.
r/HomeKit • View on Reddit →My door faces south and it got so hot the glue holding the glass on the top failed. Was out of warranty and Logitech was no help.
r/HomeKit • View on Reddit →out Logitech Circle view can do that. It's connected via apple homekit and you have the option to toggle the physical doorbell. The camera's built in speaker also chimes when someone presses it so the person knows it was pressed. You get notifications on your phone/wath/appletc. Amazon ring cameras can be operated independtly and simply pushes a notification to the phone app too.
r/homeautomation • View on Reddit →Logitech CircleView Doorbell meets those requirements. But, I’m not happy with the durability and am moving to Unifi’s doorbell.
r/HomeKit • View on Reddit →Logi Doorbell supports up to 24V! When you say traditional, do you mean the mechanical chime? If yes, that’s what I have too. And yes, HomePods can be enabled as your chimes and Siri can announce names saved on your Photos libraries, using yours and others in your home (when recognized). You can even disable the mechanical chime if you want in the Home app settings. Here, use Logitech’s compatibility checker. https://setup.circleviewdoorbell.logi.com
r/HomeKit • View on Reddit →Seconded - I really like mine as well. However, if you live in a warm climate and it’s mounted east/west you’ll most likely face disconnection issues due to overheating. My old front door faced east and every morning between 9-10 it would shutoff.
r/HomeKit • View on Reddit →Logitech circle view doorbell here for a couple years… works outstanding. I did also install a new doorbell transformer at the same time to ensure proper power delivery (Broan 16v30va).
r/HomeKit • View on Reddit →This is hilarious. Can we just shut up with all the baseless whining about the size of this thing? It's significantly smaller in every dimension than the G4 Pro, a doorbell that everyone seems to love, and it's 1/3 the cost. It's about half the cost of the Ring doorbell, and is .18 of an inch longer, while being .5 inch narrower. It's 1/3 cheaper than, .05 inch longer and .25 narrower than the Ecobee. The only major smart doorbell on the market that's significantly smaller than the Doorbell Lite is the Logitech Circle. And as someone who has owned the Logitech I can testify to its absolute shittiness. It hits a demographic that none of their other doorbells do. People who want a camera and smarts without paying north of $200. It's less than $100, for Pete's sake! Doorbell Lite: 5.4 x 1.6 x 1 G4 Pro: 6.3 x 2 x 1.1 Ring: 5.22 x 2.11 x 1.18 Ecobee: 5.35 x 1.85 x 1.14 Logitech: 4.68 x 1.65 x 1.10
r/Ubiquiti • View on Reddit →I’m very happy with my Circle View Doorbell…. Only a couple of glitches when the sun hits it directly but otherwise have had zero problems with HomeKit integration.
