Yes, it will do the job.?? The dust bin is quite big and it's easy to remove hairs from the rollers if anything get stucked.

I second this. I think I only paid $200 for my Q5? Mine doesn't mop or auto empty, but very good on the vacuuming front (and has all the good mapping, navigation, multi floor modes the other ones do). And they do have models with the mopping and auto emptying things.

This is more of an uninformed opinion than unpopular. I can run mine when I'm not even home. I can adjust the noise level of I am home. I can even have it do just one or 2 rooms if I want/ and have it do places I'm not occupying. I did save money and get one that I have to manually empty...but guess what? Emptying it takes me a LOT less time than vacuuming the entire floor. This sub is for opinions, but you're factually wrong on it being a waste of time, because it is saving me time...the only way it would be wasting my time is if the alternative was to not sweep or vacuum the floors at all...

For someone with multiple dogs that shed, it’s a godsend. I have all carpet, so I got a dual rubber roller model with high suction (Roborock q5 pro). I still vacuum with my big Dyson once or twice a week for a proper deep clean, and it does pull up a good amount of dirt, but the robot vac does do the day to day for me just fine.

Older roombas are simple, reliable, durable, effective, and cheap. But they don't have smart navigation or mapping where you can ask them to clean specific areas. If you want navigation they become less cheap and less durable. I have a 10yo 600 series roomba and a new Roborock Q5. Q5 is great but I'm skeptical that it's going to last as long.

Good to know, thanks. Our old Wyze had to stop and recharge in our single-story house but Q5 Pro has better battery life so I think it will get the job done on a single charge no matter what setting we use.

I just bought the roborock Q5+ duoroller and it does a good job and my dogs don’t hate it. (And one of them is very anxious) it’s pretty quiet and I’m impressed with it so far. I’m sure there are newer options but that’s what fit in my price range for now

great news! Almost ANY roborock you get (for that matter, any robot) is going to far surpass your i7 experience. I would not grab the Q5, TBH. There is, actually a very big difference between $500 and $1000 robots, but if I may recommend... I'd say the best CURRENT value on a Roborock is the Curv/Edge, the S8 MaxV Ultra and the QRevo MaxV. While the Saros are great... I don't think they're better \*enough\* than the models listed about to justify the price. Also, I'd wait for Prime Day, regardless. Also, I test robots for a living for Lifehacker, and am not sponsored by anyone, and test robots in my very real house.

Another Roborock. I wanted something cheap to try so I only got the Q5 Pro. I purposely not getting the mopping since I like to manually spray different cleaner and change a microfiber mop pad after every use. I might be lazy but this thing really save me from mental breakdown with a toddler at home. I run it twice a week on a high traffic area then mop. I never bought a "good" vaccum so I can't really tell the difference. Maybe a bit cat fur flying? We are also a shoe off house with zero carpet and only couple rugs. The only issue is that recently it started to disconnect itself (twice only) and since our moderm can't change the frequency manually it was an headach until I figure it out on my phone last time. If I'm getting another one, I'm going with Roborock

This! I am so interested in others schedules. I just upgraded from an irobot about 4 years old to a roborock q5. It is amazing!!! I don't have enough details to share yet as it has been less than one week. Right now, I have it on the same schedule as I did the irobot. Every weekday at 6am, and every weekend day 10am. The previous robot didn't have mopping -- I have it set to only mop once a week right now. But I have seen a lot of folks say they only run every other day. For what it is worth, I have a 1200sqft single floor house. All LVT with a few short carpet runners. Dry environment so LOTS of dust. 4 to 5 dogs (we run a rescue). Humans are just my husband and myself.

If I were you, I’d spend a bit more for a combo and look for a reliable and good vacuum only model for the top carpet only floor which is generally cheaper than a combo model. I’d also consider the dreame L40S Pro Ultra (£799) is going to be better for heavy fur shedders since it has the onboard fur compression feature which works when it’s vacuuming to best utilize the dustbin’s space that has a volume of 395mL. The dual brushes mean it’s better for fur pickup on carpets but won’t be as good for just vacuuming carpets compared to vacuum only models . The E25 will be better for raw mopping performance which is better suited for homes with more hard floors than carpet. The E25 will also be a good option for the bottom floor. I’d get something like a cheap second hand roomba or a roborock Q5 or Q8 with or without an autoempty station for the upper floor.

I’m hesitant to compare to the S7, because I don’t know what that has. In terms of cutting edge technology, Roborock has some crazy new things coming—like one with a robot arm that will pick up and move objects in the way. And it will raise itself up over transitions, like to a carpet. The Saros10 model came out in the past year and is supposed to be fantastic—at $1200 to $1600. I’m just saying that for $179, the Q8 is better than what I have. There are 2 rubber rollers on the bottom (rather than one), and it’s great for dust & pet hair. The phone app is easier to use and edit. I’ve had no problems with docking or finding the dock. And the small-area-clean button works great, which my Q5 didn’t have.

The roborock Q5 Pro+ is a popular model that seems to last rather long with proper care. The dual rubber brushes do best to pick up fur and hair, especially on carpets, and will best resist tangles.

Q5 is NOT an everyday mopper. The mop is completely passive, does no scrubbing, and you have to wash and mount/unmount it yourself all the time. I.e. cannot go over carpet while mop is attached. Really serious active mopping starts with Qrevo, which comes with a full automated washing dock and water management. Even much better than the standard S7+ was. You can make a good deal on this during Prime sales.

I just got a roborock q5 dual rollers, “used like new” on amazon (it was in brand new condition) for like $240. It’s a vacuum only. I have four dogs (cattle dogs and labs) and two cats (one long hair) so I was sweeping and vacuuming every day. It was exhausting. Just got the roborock two weeks ago and it is the BEST money I’ve ever spent! It has a super big dustbin, self empties, dog hair never gets stuck or tangled, works great on rugs and hardwood and has so many different speeds. The app is easy to navigate too. I love it so much!

I just got a Roborock and LOVE IT. I have four dogs and two cats (two cattle dog, two labs, one long hair cat so non stop shedding - I had to vacuum and sweep every day) and this thing has changed my life. We have mostly hardwood floors and one carpet but it doesn’t struggle at all on the rug and has smooth transitions onto each. Hair never gets tangled. It’s self emptying and has great battery life. It takes a little over two hours for it to vacuum my house and it doesn’t ever drop below 40% battery. I can’t believe I waited this long to get it. I was like the OP for years, just always overwhelmed with the hair no matter how much I cleaned! We had a roomba years ago and it does not compare to the roborock. OP I got a “used like new” Roborock q5 with dual rollers (large dustbin capacity) on amazon so I saved a wee bit of money that way. Best investment ever.

Vacuum only: roborock q5 or q8 max+ or the switchbot k10+ with a tangle resistant all rubber brush. Vacuum and mop combo: MOVA P10 Pro ultra at 399 (I think on Amazon US). This is a de facto last gen flagship and the antitangle TriCut brush (may ship in a bundle or needs to be bought separately from MOVA/dreame but AliExpress resellers can be cheaper) worked great with my long fur corgi’s fur and tumbleweeds. This one is least likely to get stuck compared to the previous options. Compared to other vacuum and mop combos under 400 which are solid budget robots, the p10 pro ultra blows them out of the water. As for the curved legs, I think the MOVA may at first try to ride up them then eventually learn how to properly avoid them. I have the MOVA V50 ultra and after it humped tripod legs on the first day, it was able to “learn” how to smoothly follow the tripod legs and avoid riding up on them on the third day (second day produced mixed results).

I got a Roborock Q5 Pro in November and have been really impressed with how well it handles pet hair. Unlike the other model the hair almost never gets tangled up around the brushes but it still clearly does a good job vacuuming the area rugs. I generally prefer roborock over other brands because they have excellent lidar navigation. My oldest one is ~5 years old and doing fine, but has been relegated to the upstairs.

Picked up an S1 Pro about a month ago ( < $600.00 price mistake... bragging). It's my first roller mop and it does absolutely great cleaning and navigating on my hardwood/LVP.  I agree about carpet. That's why I've kept my Roborock Q5 pro. It vacuums really well. The 'win/win' is this lets me keep the Eufy vacuum setting on low and that helps with battery life. I run the Q5 pro first and after it cleans one room, I have the Eufy follow always one hardwood/LVP room behind the Roborock. Lastly the Q5 pro will vacuum my carpeted rooms while the S1 pro is finishes on the hardwood/LVP. This works out well. I've found except for inner corners the Eufy does well getting under kickplates. And luckily it has not leaked like I've read on other posts when I was researching. For mopping, compared to the Dreame L20 Ultra's it mops significantly more dirt. Never going back to mop pads.  Given the posts on Robot Vacuums detailing problems with the new roller/vacs by Mova and Narwal and Dreame I'd wait a good while to see if bugs can be worked out with firmware software and how these robots will hold up after a good six months on the market. The added bonus of waiting is prices usually come down.

Maybe a refurbished roomba for carpets but navigation is an option. A roborock would be better at navigation. The Q5 Pro with no autoempty station would be better at not disturbing people if it will autoempty during working hours but the Q8 Max+ or the Q5 Max+ can be considered if you’d like one with an autoempty station.

If Q7, then I would pick the latest variant Q7 M5 for the same $200. [https://www.amazon.com/roborock-Q7-M5-Anti-Tangle-APP-Controlled/dp/B0DSJ93KPD?th=1](https://www.amazon.com/roborock-Q7-M5-Anti-Tangle-APP-Controlled/dp/B0DSJ93KPD?th=1) It has improved suction power and better anti-tangling brushes. Q7 Max is comparably old and noisy. If you are very short on budget, there's a refurbished Q5 Pro here ($170) [https://www.amazon.com/roborock-Q5-Pro-DuoRoller-Navigation/dp/B0D9QF6BF2?th=1](https://www.amazon.com/roborock-Q5-Pro-DuoRoller-Navigation/dp/B0D9QF6BF2?th=1) Which would be newer and even better than Q7 Max, and much more silent. Don't fall for "5" is less than "7" because it's not. ;-) However the Q5's are about to be phased out.

Based on what you shared, I would rank them like this: Roborock Q5 Pro then Q7 M5 then Q10 S5. I put the Roborock Q5 Pro first because of its High suction (5,500 Pa) great for feathers, pellets, dust. No frills — mopping is minimal, which suits your needs. Simple, affordable, and reliable navigation. Handles small obstacles if floor is mostly tidy. And it is within your budget. Q7 M5 is Decent unit but lower suction, older motor design. Mop lift is nice but you don’t care for mopping. Usually more expensive than Q5 Pro despite less suction. Q10 S5 is a Great vacuum, strong suction and smarter sensors. But unless on big discount, it’s outside your budget. You will have to pick up small toys regularly if you go with Q5 Pro since it doesn’t have advanced AI object avoidance like the Q10. If you're okay with buying used or refurbished, the Q10 S5 may be a killer deal if found under €280. If you have more specific needs, [this comparison](https://technoranks.com/compare-products/?compareids=1969,2343,2342,1931) table would help. Good luck.

I had a Samsung Jetbot that broke after a year and a half, and would have cost me $150 to fix. I went back and forth on fixing it, but ultimately realized that I could buy a brand new robot for that price. The Roborock Q5 happened to be on sale for exactly that price, so I ended up buying it, and have been using it obsessively to clean up the buildup from the past several months. I didn’t realize how much dust and hair had accumulated on my carpets in that time (I live in an apartment, and don’t own another vacuum), and looking at what a difference it’s made to have a freshly-vacuumed carpet has just given me so much tranquility. I have a cat, but really the buildup had come from me, because I have long hair that tends to shed. There was literally a mouse-sized amount of hair tangled up in the side brush after running the vacuum four times, with the main rollers covered in hair. The advice that was given to me by folks in this subreddit is to make sure you get a robot with Lidar. Lidar is the mapping technology that actually allows the robovac to clean every inch of the floor. The robovacs without Lidar just kind of bounce around, and aren’t nearly as effective at cleaning because they don’t keep track of where they’ve been. They go in zig-zag patterns, and Lidar robots go back and forth. It’s more expensive, but to me the difference is worth it. I’ll also say that what convinced me to get a robovac in the first place is that someone told me it forces them to keep their floors clean. You can’t have your floors cluttered because it will block the robot and stop it from doing its job, or even get it tangled up. So that’s just one more reason to get one.

Roborock S5 was such a low complexity model, going strong for many years. Now with more recent models, vacuum-only limits the search to Q5, Q7, Q8. Most of these claim to be "vac + mop combo" but that's just a passive cloth dragged behind. Not really worth discussing. They all have very good mapping and navigation in common. Roborock is famous for that and even the cheapest model does the job well. So depending on what you want, what you actually need, you might be perfectly satisfied with a Q7 M5+ or Q8 Pro+. One thing to note, Spending more money on a Roborock doesn't automatically mean the robot would be built with higher quality and last longer. It has just more features then. More motors, more moving parts, more wear and tear. Second note, Prices do not necessarily reflect the value. Roborock has some strange pricing strategy that no-one understands. For example, Q5 Pro+ is currently at $600 which is insanely expensive and cannot be recommended right now. I guess there's some tariff glitch included whatever.

Q5 / Q7 / Q8 aren't real combos. They have a mop add-on for occasional use. That's cheap, has no motors and consists of a plastic plate with a cloth. Worth $20 maybe, added manufacturing cost somewhat <$5. So almost all models have these add-ons so they can be sold as "combo". Real mopping starts with scrubbing robots like S8, Q10 S5 or Qrevo.

Unfortunately it's all in the market pressures, certain sets of requirements or categories of robots have been totally eliminated. For example it's really hard to find much choice of robot mops, everybody has switched to making combination all-in-one robots which are much more expensive. It can be really frustrating. What I will say, avoid models with AI obstacle avoidance camera systems mounted on the front bumper. This should help limit privacy concerns. A lidar sensor can give a basic layout of your house and furniture placement but it can't really see details, it's basically a 2-D image. Edit: obviously all images are 2-D lol. What I meant is, it's only seeing your house through a really thin laser beam shining out from the top "turret". This means it can see shapes on that line of sight and nothing else, basically it doesn't steer that laser up or down. It can't see details of people, pets, objects not at floor level etc. It'll see four furniture legs, with no way to tell if it's a sofa or a dining table. Obviously having a literal camera is a totally different story there. And luckily a lot of the more basic options lack cameras (for now anyway). Models like the eufy L60 or Roborock Q5 might be ones to look at.

I bought the Roborock Q5 pro about 6 months ago based on the recommendation of vacuum wars. It is still holding up as well as it did the day I bought it. It's not as powerful as an upright vacuum but scheduling it to vacuum once a day and cleaning the brushes once a week keeps on top of the hair from 2 cats very well. I don't even vacuum anymore I just set off the robot while I clean up the rest of the house, it's especially good for hard floors and also has a mop pad it drags behind itself which doesn't really mop but instead picks up the smaller particles the vacuum isn't strong enough to capture.

I also have the mopping Roborock and love it. We have 1 dog and 12 foster cats so daily sweeping and mopping is a necessity. It won’t save op money though I think it was $700. As long as the toys are picked up the only issue it occasionally has is with my really long hair getting wrapped around the rollers.
