Just got the [Dreame X40 Ultra ](https://www.reddit.com/user/Accurate_Shine5695/comments/1jhg9u6/best_highend_robot_vacuums_of_2025_a_quick/)and it’s a game changer for pet hair! Super strong suction, picks up all the fur without any issues. Plus, the vacuum AND mop combo is perfect for keeping everything spotless. The self-cleaning and self-emptying features are a big bonus, less hassle for me. Highly recommend if you’ve got pets!

The Dreame X40 Ultra uses advanced LiDAR navigation and AI-powered object recognition to effectively detect and avoid obstacles, including small objects and potential hazards. Its upgraded sensors make it more reliable in handling unexpected messes compared to older models like the Roborock S7. While no RoboVac is 100% foolproof, the X40's smarter navigation significantly reduces the chances of mishaps like running through pet waste.

I am often surprised, and offended at how much difference there is in premium robots (which is what I tend to test, rather than budget or midrange). You should expect, if you pay that much, for a robot to work. This problem is much worse in lawnbots, but there is no condition under which I would purchase a Roomba or Eufy on purpose. Doesn't matter what model. I'm most impressed by Roborock, Dreame and Ecovacs. That said, each model is different. For instance, I thought the X40 was just fine. Didn't blow me out of the water. But I think the X50 is quite good, although it still has some navigation issues. I haven't tested the Monsga line, sorry.

We love this thing otherwise. It works great. Got it for about $1600 during a sale. It's still expensive of course, but for our house totally worth it. Never vacuum and mop by hand anymore!

One more thing... On pretty much any of these units, you can designate certain areas to avoid completely. If the dog accidents are always near the pads, you could just designate that whole area off-limits to the vac.

Recently got a Dreame X40 Ultra, it’s pretty nice. Can’t think of anything else I’d need from a vacuum. I just change the water containers; liquid detergent usage is pretty minimal so it’ll last months. Love that the mops are detachable magnetic pads instead of the velcro type and it automatically washes & dries them at the base station

Eufy has excellent customer service. They sent me replacement parts for S1 Pro and took a follow-up 2 times to make sure all was working fine. Dreame customer service sucks. I have feeling no 1 over there understand basic English or the translation app they use is joke. I was able to dispute the situation with my credit card and got a refund for $1800. Never buying that crap again. This was my 2nd X40 purchase for my parents.

Damn I really wish to have a full review from you on the X40, it's kind of my favorite (bought two, first on December, the second one today, and thank god no need of support just yet) and I always love hearing reviews that compare it to other robot vacuums, because in my eyes and in my experience - it's perfect, yet I hear so many complaints about it that I just keep on praying to never need to use the warranty...

I really appreciate the thorough response man, truly. I hope you never need customer service ???? and it seems to be a global thing with Dreame, as the complaints go from country to country as I hear them... I just really hope to never need them. And tbh, in my country they didn't bring the Saros 10R, only the 10, so I wasn't so keen in getting it with the vibrating moppad.. Also the retractable Lidar that has expiry times-of-use threw me off a little.. So I ended up considering either another X40 or Ecovacs x8 for the roller-mop, but ecovacs' last release here got destroyed in reviews, and so I just decided to go with what I know (and love, for now lol

Pleased you are amused. What is the point in telling people bull shit. I've had an L20, L40, X40. The only one with no issues was the L20 and is still going strong. The L40 and X40 were replaced twice. I've had problems with Samsung . . I'm currently running a roborock, useless with obstacle avoidance, excellent on carpet, and a Eufy E28, very good but a very basic app. It isn't just about Dreame it's about giving no bull shit honest opinions

Can only speak from my own experience, but I’ve had the X40 since December last year and had no issues with it- apart from a dodgy software update that was fixed in a week. It cleans a large 2 bedroom flat with a short haired dog most days and the communal hallway twice a week all in its stride. The hallway has a set of stairs at the end and never had any problems with its fall avoidance. I would say to use distilled water if like me you live in a hard water area.

Yes, don’t spend too much, these extra features are not that great benefit. 40‘s will do the job and prices will fall as usual and then u can think about another model because the price fits the benefit. And don’t expect too much. You still have to clean by yourself sometimes.

Personally as an owner of a X40 Ultra: a resounding yes. imho its abysmal. I just spent an hour today re-calibrating where all are the rooms in my apartment are because it suddenly shifted my house 30 degrees and couldn't reach any room. like, it would start driving into the wall instead of going to the room I asked it to clean. also, I have a dog that sheds and the only way I could get the robot to properly empty itself before it gets clogged full of dirt is by splitting each real room into 3 sub-rooms so that it will only clean a 1/3 of the room before the "clean after each task" policy forces it to empty. this is really annoying because if they just have let you set the auto empty frequency as low as I want it should have been fine but the lowest possible setting is around 10m\^2 if I remember, which is just too much to prevent it from being clogged in my apartment. another stupid software limitation - they have this feature called shortcuts that lets you save a pre-set sequence of cleaning actions, but they only let you select 6 tasks per shortcut, and you're only allowed to create 10 shortcuts overall per map. I use this feature to group the above sub-rooms together so I can start a clean on a full room, but if you want to start the cleaning on several rooms at once - too bad for you, you can only get 6 tasks at most to run as a shortcut which means 2 rooms at most due to the above split. to be fair, each task can include many cleaning operations, but the dust bin will clog itself if you set more than one sub-room per task so it doesn't really matter. I had to do a doubly hacky hack and map my single floor apartment (around 100m\^2) as several different floors so I can set different shortcuts for each floor(each floor has a software limitation of max 10 shortcuts). this way I had enough "shortcuts budget" to have a shortcuts for cleaning 2 rooms at once. like - I have 5 rooms and I can only pick 2 rooms for each shortcut because of the limit on num. tasks so i created a separate shortcut for each of "living room + kitchen", "living room + balcony", "kitchen + balcony", "kitchen + bedroom", "living room + bedroom" etc'. blah, but at least I found a workaround for that. but if I want to clean 3 rooms with a single shortcut - its too bad, I can't. aside from that the map from time to time will get distorted and I'll need to manually make adjustments so it more or less aligns with where the actual rooms are. and sadly every time you make an adjustment to a room any related shortcuts will be deleted so I have to go through the whole setup process I mentioned again. so yes, I call the Dreame software abysmal. but even though my personal experience with the X40 is really bad, if the auto empty feature would have been working properly all these hacks wouldn't have been needed. so maybe they fixed this problem in later hardware and now its good, idk. P.S if anyone looking to buy a used X40 Ultra dm me lol.

If you can go to Costco the Robovac 508 is the Dreame X40 Ultra for $499 with about $150 worth of extras. If you want to stay at $400 I would suggest the L40 Ultra, personal preference but alot of this sub likes the P10 which is also a great vacuum. Tbh Mova and Dreame are like Kia and Hyundai, both use the same parts, same chassis, share ownership. So you can't really go wrong with either. They are basically the same unit.

Hated dog hair the bin is small and it had no option to go back any faster to the base to empty so it would just push piles of hair around till the algorithm told it to go back and empty but it would never retouch the pile it left. they kept telling me to select a function that was not in my menu. so they took it back took months but its gone. and service is 1 email a day after they answer the phone on first ring so one problem will take a week to sort out and they dont want to call you back, just email there comes in around 2 am yours goes back at around 9am and then wait

Other than that i am pretty happy so far! P.s. I live in EU, so a nice sale would he nice… why do always US get the best sales?? Got the dream a few weeks ago. It's a game changer. I had a Neato and a few iRobots over the years. With those units, I spent more time pulling out dog hair and untangling rollers than actually using the product. This is a lot more advanced, and with the self emptying, it's pretty great. All I do now is swap out the water tanks every day. Gripes? The mop pad on the base station gets hairy. It has difficulty getting dirt between the edge of the rug and the hardwood floors. It's expensive. All in all, it's a nice machine.

Just curious, what don't you like about the Qrevo? I've been borrowing one for a few weeks, and then finally bought a higher end Dreame X40 , and decided I liked the qrevo more. I thought I was crazy, but it does align with how it's the only model highly rated on costco's website \-Roborock app is much better, especially the mapping. Every youtuber says they about the same, and I don't agree with this at all. \-Qrevo's pathing is extremely efficient and natural, translates to quicker jobs. 30% - 40% quicker than X40. \-Qrevo is quiet enough to run at night, and/or be minimally annoying when running in the same room as you \-Qrevo is more thorough because "flagship" obstacle avoidance is a double edge sword. The x40 has false positives (baseboards), and in general is skittish on approaching safe obstacles, keeping its distance. The only things I intentionally leave on the floors are shoes, which the Qrevo's low end sensors work fine with. Of course this is YMMV and if animal waste is a possibility, then flagship obstacle seems worth its weight in gold. The only high end features I'm missing are edge mops and brushes- but in real life I don't think they are a big deal. No robot gets everywhere or replaces the need for manual cleans, so you are talking about a robot that gets 90% vs 91%. BTW since you are a costco member, the freo z ultra is on it's last day at $650 today. I almost bought one, as it's supposed to be one of the best moppers for hard floors, and has one of the most intelligent obstacle avoidance systems,,getting closer to things. Main con people bring up is it is water hungry, and in objective tests it is well below average on carpet.
