You're after the [Tribit StormBox Lava](https://www.soundguys.com/tribit-stormbox-lava-review-xtreme4-vibes-without-the-jbl-price-141830/). It's essentially a JBL Xtreme clone for a fraction of the price, and it sounds great. It's IP67 so it can handle the outdoors, has some decent EQ presets, and charges via USB-C! Sells for $139 USD.

I got a Lava from them and I like it. For the price, it's very good. Sound is extremely muddy out of the box, but EQ settings in app can make it rival speakers that are twice as expensive. The bass is incredibly strong. My only 2 complaints are A: Having to mess with EQ just for acceptable quality. B: you need 2 of them for a "complete" sound. All in all, I'm very happy with my purchase. Just get annoyed trying to find the perfect EQ

Interesting ;) The app was available when the soundcore boom 2 came out. Apparentely, these days it is not compatible. I need to check again, if they did fix that. I may be wrong too regarding the app. Will let you know after doing some research, i need also to send an email to soundcore. Cause i've never used the app on it. I will let you know if they did fix that.

There IS a New Soundcore: boom 2 pro. For me similar to the soundcore boom 2 plus. But with better option. But a bit priced. Still more interesting than most JBL, bose for that price.  But I'm happy with m'y little soundcore boom 2.

I recently tried a UBoom X, Tribit Lava and a Soundcore Boom 2 as an upgrade to my Soundcore Motion+. They all did worse than the Motion+. Then I thought, I might as well splash out on a Bose Soundlink Max. I tried it, compared it to the Soundcore Motion+ and hey, what do you know, the Motion+ had better clarity, seperation and midrange. The Soundlink Max had more deep bass, but that was it. Moral of the story: we all have different tastes. There are a lot of "bAss GoOd" posters here, who just value a big rumble. Just order a bunch from Amazon, try them, and return the ones you don't like. Also the UboomX is getting heavily shilled here. It looks like ass and doesn't sound as great as certain posters make it out to be.

Soundcore boom 2:  - $90-130 on amazon.  - 360° sounding speaker - Easy to carry light weight - 80 watts speaker (well 70 watts cause the app IS not compatible anymore, not a prob for me it IS a solid 70 watts speaker with the bass UP button pressed on.) - No distortion even at full volume Awesome trebles bass medium high, perfectly balanced.   And i seriously mean it is perfectly balanced. It is a beast. If you want to push the volume up, all the neighbor will hear that beast. And if you want to keep the volume low it sounds magnificent like heaven. Great for everytypes of music even the live concert sounds great whatever African music, rnd, trap, cuban, classical, metal, rock, pop, country folk, fusion, jazz ect.  I've tried a comparaison in front of lot and lot of speakers : Sony speakers, Bose speaker, w king, JBL x trem 1 and 4 which i had (still have the 1 and sold the 4), tribit lava, zealot, U boom x, tronsmart bang, JBL boom box 3 ect. They aren't bad but lot of distortion and muffled sometimes for some and overpriced. The JBL Xtrem 1 and 4 sounds poor next to it.  The soundcore boom 2 cook them all. For $90-130 on amazon. And in France 89€ actually. A great great deal and seriously that speaker is phenomenal. Sounds better than most 95% of overpriced Big speakers  Lot of my friends says : 'Woww' when i play the soundcore boom 2 on.  It is a versatile beast. An engineer that praise it as well and that says he never listened to such little speaker that sounds that good and that loud before.

I've been playing around with this speaker a bit and discovered some issues with firmware 1.4.3 and 1.4.8. 1) I noticed that the speaker starts to generate noise at very low volumes. At volumes between 5 and 20%, or when transitioning from a louder to a quieter section, a constant background noise can be heard. Example: Song: Pink Floyd - Echoes 2) When changing the volume (louder or quieter), the music playback stutters briefly, similar to a slight dropout. The same issue occurred when I changed the equalizer while a song was playing. 3) I also noticed that the tweeters crackle very slightly in some songs with high notes and vocals. It's really only very slightly noticeable. I used the Jazz EQ, and it's only noticeable at higher volumes (approx. 70-80%). I haven't tested it at volumes above 70%. Example: Song: Fleetwood Mac - Little Lies Extended Version 2017 4) In XBass/XBass Off mode, the mids and highs seem slightly muffled at any volume and sound a bit duller, not as crisp as with the Jazz EQ. The Jazz EQ sounds best with the preset EQs in firmware 1.4.8. 5) The speaker has a power-saving mode when the battery is below 40%. Volume and bass levels seem to change at 40%. ----------------------------------------------------------- Now impressions to firmware 1.5.4 to point 1) --> almost resolved with firmware 1.5.4 (only noticeable very minimally upon closer listening) to point 2) --> Almost fixed with firmware 1.5.4 (the buzzing has disappeared, but with battery levels below 50%, a faint crackling sound can now be heard when changing the volume, as well as sometimes when changing the equalizer during a song.) to point 3) --> no problem verified, seems fixed to point 4) --> in XBass/XBass Off mode, the sound changed completly. All predefined EQs are downscaled and dont sound good. Custom EQ sound is similar/same as before in relation to version 1.4.8 ----------------------------------------------------------- current conclusion: Otherwise the speaker plays well, the sound could be a bit more neutral and also could have a more room-filling sound across all levels. However, this is a high-level complaint. For the price, the speaker produces good sound (this isn't an audiophile statement) and is enjoyable to use. So, aside from a few teething issues, there's not much to complain about. I hope tribit will fix the issues soon.

Hi dear person, I understand you,  but that's absolutely not the case for me. Why i don't know ;)  The app is not even useful with this beautiful beast. Because everything is perfectly balanced, and if you activate the bass up button on (you get even more wonderful sound). Sounds better, deeper, louder than most speakers I've had and tried (jbl xtrem 1 and 4, i sold the xtrem 4, bose, sony, etc.). I compared it with my friend's speakers (u boom x, Harman speakers, Eu Boom 3-4-5, Tribit lava, zealot 120 watts speaker, jbl boom 3 party speaker, bose, soundlink, beat, tronsmart bang, mini, etc.) The soundcore boom 2 cooks them all. For $90-120 on amazon. I got it for 60€ with my friend. And he regretted it deeply. He told me. In conclusion, I repeat: 70 truly watts speaker, 360° sound, Easy to carry, light weight, perfectly balanced sound midrange bass trebless high, no distortion even at full volume (be careful with your neighbors). That thing sounds like heaven!!! An engineer friend, that told me, that he has never listened to such 'medium' sized speaker that sounded that good .

Small impression Update for version 1.5.5 1) I could verify that the sound seems quieter than before with a custom equalizer. In older firmwares it was louder until 1.5.4. then the sound only of the preset /standard (xbass, rock, Jazz, etc...)  equalizer settings changed to a quieter sounding by this frmware. Now the sound of the custom equalizer seems also be quieter, same level as the presets equalizer. 2) new preset equalizer : Tradition Conclusion , better than 1.5.4 because it's extremely annoying when you've chosen a preset EQ and when you switch to custom your ears fly off because the volume was much higher there.

I understand your perception and your thoughts. It was a time when there were not even apps for speakers. In the case of the soundcore boom 2. I understand the frustration of ingenious perfectionists not being able to manage EQ. I could not say why soundcore did that. I am not the author, nor an affiliate. In any case, I can tell you one thing with certainty: The sound does not even need adjustment, no need for adjustment. It sounds 2 times better than an xtrem 4 and a jbl boom 3 party jbl, as good as a bose model, better than harman speakers, x times better than the x king/tronsmart/zealot/tribit speakers. Which have a lot of distortion at high volume (even if the music is not made to be listened to at full volume.) In any case, I got it for 60€ and I am more than satisfied. In my garden or park evenings, my friends only say "woww". And I can understand, because this beast is brilliantly adjusted in terms of sound. Many have said they prefer the Soundcore Boom 2 to the U Boom x and others prefer the U Boom x. However, this one has a lot of distortion sometimes. Others have said, the Soundcore Boom 2 is superb for techno music but rubbish for the rest. Absolutely false!!! It is incredible for live performances, albums, jazz/rock/African music/Cuban/Celtic/metal/pop/country/acoustic instrumental/trap rnb etc etc etc. And even superb for watching a movie (I tried). I listen to dir en grey metal group on it sometimes, jazz, Christian music, rock, folk, rnb, techno, old music, classical music sometimes, Cuban, Brazilian (rosa passos guitarists and singer), and all types of unimaginable music. I'm a multi-instrumentalist musician. I like everything in music except vulgarity and propaganda. And I can say once again, that the Soundcore Boom 2 cooks all the speaker models I've heard (even those with modified EQ etc.). And that for $90-130 on Amazon. It's worse than a good deal, it's a robbery. This speaker doesn't need any EQ adjustment. It's great like that. Of course, we all have different tastes and preferences. It's normal ;) Ps: the ones that dislike the soundcore boom 2 are mostly people that are fan boy, trolls, and some honest people that had minor problems such shipping, that fell into a poor series of soundcore boom. Which is rare. Maybe the SE old version. The author of this, says he had buzz sounds... Definetely not a soundcore boom 2, probably a soundcore boom SE. The old one. Soundcore resolved the problem. And it is not buzzing. We are far from it. Or maybe he have a false one... Rare too.

None of those are considered "high value" speakers. Soundcore, Tribit and Earfun have better sounding products for the $. You can get a pair of Soundcore Motion Boom 2 Plus for the $ of the big name brands. Check out the many speaker shootouts on YouTube between any JBL/Sony/UE/Bose product and the Soundcore Motion Booms or Earfun speakers. So few days ago i finally got my hands on the new tribit stormbox lava. Ordered it from aliexpress using the earlybird code, making it a 120 dollar purchase. I had second thoughts about getting it after ordering it, but after a few days with it, i definitely think it was worth it. This speaker has it's upsides and downsides like every other speaker, some of it still can be fixed with softwate update if tribit are willing to do that. In terms of sound out of the box, it sounded very boosted, warm and kinda muddy. But that's where the eq comes to rescue. I'm still trying to figure out my own eq for it, but so far the best eq i found is from a guy named "dominik reviews" on youtube, where he left a link for 2 eq's on his comparison videos between the lava and other speakers. In terms of the speaker itself, i think that i can sound pretty nice using the correct eq's like the ones from dominik. The passive radiators are tuned very low, so they are not very sensitive to midbass, and they offer some deep 40 - 50 hz notes. Sometimes it can be pretty overpowering So i usually reduce the 80 hz band at low to medium levels. And yes, like most speakers it reduces bass pretty rapidly at high volumes, but we are already fimiliar with it after hearing the jbl xtreme 4. Other few downsides which are not as critic, the strap that comes with the speaker which feels a bit cheap and wobbly, and the welcome tones that sound kinda bad, which you can turn off through the app. My conclusion is mostly positive, this speakers earned it's place next to the boom 2, xtreme 4 and bose soundlink max, having advantages and disadvantages over them.
