What do you mean with portability? Able to transport it with a car? Able to place it with other stuff in a bagpack? Able to carry it on a cart like a fridge? Also depends on where you’d use it and how you’d use it. Obviously, those portable ones (to just fit with your stuff in the backpack), you won’t get dance floor thundering bass and rather a good background sound for a gathering with a few friends. If it’s for the backpack style (cause that’s what I’d consider portable) I wouldn’t go bigger than Jbl charge 6 size. Different brands have different signature sounds. I really like jbls, and the newer Sonys. Pretty much any soundcore speaker and Tribit and so on that I had in my hand, I wanted to tune them over their equalizer cause I didn’t like there profiles (I remember them as muffled) Sony field 1 is a great portable and sounds good. Same for flip 7 and charge 6. also worth looking at features other than sound and robustness. Soundcore motion 300 also one I remember with a really nice sound. From what I heard, if you go for a Jbl charge size speaker, looking at the difference to the next bigger one like Jbl xtreme or soundcore boom size, I would say the sound difference can be named almost irrelevant. There is more bass, yes, but not enough worth mentioning to me. So I’d say go either flip / charge size for spontaneously taking to shower and back, outdoors in your backpack, or Jbl boombox size if it has to be taken sometimes by car and needs a big bass for a lil dance round.

Yeah that's my issue ; really wanna just get the 6 because of the quality, not the BS but now seeing the Soundcores are louder , idk if I should just get an Encore instead of wait and actually get a nice Bookshelf pair for my player.

Save your money and get two 300's. It's close enough to the Flex Gen 2 that any differences are not worth the cost difference. Additionally, the Flex gen 2 bleeds battery at about 10% per week. So if you had the Flex 2 without charging in two months, it'll be dead. Bose refuses to acknowledge this problem. the Bose Max also has this problem. There's a thread here just dealing with tis problem.

I liked the Motion 300 much more than the UBOOM L, but that's just my preference. It being flat makes it kinda easy to pack too, and it has a recessed power button, so it won't accidentally turn on in your bag. It's the small things..

I bought the Soundcore Motion 300 and the Earfun UBOOM L a few days ago, and I tested them for a few hours with the intent to return one of the speakers. To start off with, they both sound great, way better than I expected for the price. My references are Edifier bookshelf speakers (R1855DB and S730D) and a JBL Xtreme. I've had some smaller Bluetooth speakers in the early portable speaker days, but those sound a lot worse. ## Earfun UBOOM L Good things: - It has the potential to sound very good, but it does require fiddling with the EQ. - Gets very loud, but starts to sound thin at high volume. - Clarity is pretty good for a speaker without a tweeter. Mids are the best part of this speaker. - Auxiliary port (I won't really use this tbh) - Built quality is good, but design is kinda generic - Price, it's very cheap at 48 euro's in the Netherlands Bad things: - I have to be honest, it sounds kinda bad out of the box. You HAVE to do things with the EQ to make it sound good, and I don't think Oluv's EQ sounds great, it lacks bass and the volume curve is weird. - The bass is pretty absent at high volume. It doesn't sound great above 80%. - Sound is very directional, it kinda gets muffled at angles. - Battery life is not great (based on RTINGS test) - The startup chimes and stuff sounds very cheap, my very cheap AliExpress amplifier board makes the same sounds - The buttons are black on a black surface, so you have to really look to make sure you press the right button - No firmware update possible from the app? Also the firmware fiasco when this speaker was released is kinda weird too - Charge flap is impossible to open without tools lol - The speaker doesn't seem very refined as a whole product ## Soundcore Motion 300 Good things: - Sounds great out of the box, no adjusting of the EQ needed - Still sounds great it high volume, bass is still present - Gets very loud, about the same volume as the UBOOM L - Possibility to lay flat. It automatically adjusts the EQ. This makes it a much better 360 speaker than the UBOOM - Very well built with the metal grill, strap and just overall quality. Design is nice too. - I instantly got a connection notification on my Android phone the first time I turned it on, like Airpods do on Iphones. It also automatically named the speaker after me. And it prompted me to download the (pretty good) app. - Good buttons, they have (adjustable) backlighting and the power button is recessed, so it's harder to press when it's inside a bag. - Great battery life, almost double the UBOOM battery life (according to RTINGS) - Easier to pack into a bag because it's flat. - Great price for the features and sound quality. - Firmware updates through the app Bad things: - Clarity and mids are a bit better on the UBOOM. - There's an audio delay when watching video's, but i don't think it's worse than the UBOOM with video mode turned on. ## Summary The sound quality of these speakers isn't really far apart. They get just as loud, but the Motion 300 seems to handle bass better, especially at high volumes, while the UBOOM L has better clarity and mids. Both speakers sound great tho. But the overall quality of the product is much much higher with the Motion 300. It actually feels like a premium product with the build quality and features. While the Motion 300 is a bit pricier at €60, I think it's easily worth the price because it's so much better as a product. Some people here seem to forget a Bluetooth speaker is more than just sound. I can easily recommend the Motion 300 to any friends or my parents, but I would only recommend the UBOOM L to friends that are okay with fiddling with the EQ. I am gonna return the Earfun UBOOM L. It sounds great, but it just isn't a very good product, it's missing some refinement. You can really notice that Anker has much more experience and R&D put in their speakers. Let me know if you have any questions.

I saw people talking about distortion on the Motion 300, but I didn't really notice any distortion on the Motion 300. So yeah they might've fixed that. Oluvs EQ is not my thing, it makes the speaker sound very bland, it seems to mostly remove the bass, and the default EQ of the UBOOM just sounds bad. I was able to make it sound pretty great with my own EQ, but I'm not sure if my mom would be able to do that. So I don't think that makes for a great product out of the box. The UBOOM L has more potential to sound better, but the Motion 300 actually sounds a lot better out of the box.

I will probably get flamed for this, but the UBOOM X was definitely the best purchase of the year, great speaker for the €91 I paid. It can't compete with the JBL Boomboxes, but those are at least 3 times more expensive. I bought a Soundcore Motion 300 too, that thing is pretty good too. Feels and sounds very premium for a low price.

I would agree that Bose Soundlink Flex 2 has the best sound quality in a small personal size. The Wonderboom is a great device. I still use WB2. It has great sound for the size and 360 sound claim is legitimate. Wonderboom 4 improved the bass over the 2. It is super easy to carry around with its softball size. Soundcore has so many speakers it is confusing. I would pick Motion 300 as best personal sized speaker. It borrowed many of the Bose Flex features such as sensing if it is laying flat or on its edge and adjusting speaker output. The Glow Mini or regular mini are good too.

Hello, no brand loyalty here, Ive tried all of them. The JBL is easier to toss around since it fits almost anywhere and the flip 6’s bass is significantly improved! More punchy around low to mids. Charge 5 is the best bang. It punches about the same as the bose soundlink flex (gen 2). BUT its hugeee. Got annoying lugging it around and finding more surface area to put it. I went with the bose flex 2 in the end. More portable and warmer mids to entry highs. Portability was what i was after. The motion 300 didnt cut it for me, it sitting in my closet, it’s my beater whenever i need it. In canada the motion 300 was on sale lowest for $75.99 The Flip 6 is $119.99. The Bose Flex gen 2 is $169.99. The Charge 5 is also $169.99. There is more features with JBL yessss. IMO I’m lazy and out of the box experiences breezier and whoever wants to connect with my speakers wont have to fiddle around on the app to tune it… by the time its tweaked - the party is over.

soundcore motion 300 or motion 600 are good items. The Motion 300 knows whether it is laid flat or on its edge. So, this would work well if you laid it on a seat or in the foot well.

Yes! I also tested the Uboom L against the Motion 300. It was such a close call, they both sounded great. The Uboom L shined with its clarity and openness. The 300 shined with its bass and fullness. Up close, I almost preferred the 300 (at really low volumes, it almost had better clarity than the UBL), but the deal breaker for me at the time was the fact that the bass on the 300 did not carry over a distance, especially outside. Although the UBL bass was not as low as the 300, at distances inside and outside, the UBL bass was twice as good. Since I already had two UBL, I ended up returning the 300. FYI, now I have two Boom 2’s and I rarely use my Uboom L’s. The Boom 2 is soooo much better…..bass, clarity, fullness, etc.

I don't see anything wrong. I've always said to everyone, know your sound profile preferences. If you like boosted bass then the Uboom L isn't for you. The Motion 300 definitely goes deeper in the bass and is bass boosted out of the box which can drown out the mids. If you value boosted bass over midrange detail then you'll like the Motion 300 for sure. OP even said clarity and mids are better on the Uboom L.

If you want something roughly the same price and size but with better performance then Motion 100 fits the bill . I have one and it's great also coming from an Xsoundgo i'd say it has more clarity and has app support . I also have the Motion 300 which is a fair bit larger and sounds even bassier but not twice as good as the 100 .

Soundcore (Anker) makes some nice speakers. Although I don’t have the exact model, their Boom3i might fit your needs. They even advertise it being strapped on a kayak. It also supports a feature called “PartyCast” which allows connection of something silly like 100 speakers to play in sync. The two models I do have are the Motion 300 and the Boom 2. Connection is solid to both as I can easily be over 50 foot away and there’s no issues.

I agree with the other replies that two speakers are better than one. It depends on how big you are willing to carry around. My favorite that I've settled on is the Soundcore Boom 2. Although it is slightly larger than my idea size for a portable speaker, the handle makes it easy to move around. In my opinion it is just about the perfect balance of size, clarity, and bass for a portable speaker. It has great sound and great bass (even outside). It just won't fit in a small spot. For a smaller speaker, I would recommend the Earfun Uboom L or the Soundcore Motion 300 or the Bose Soundlink Flex. Again, a pair of these in stereo will get the best most room filling sound. All of these are small and easy to carry and easy to place anywhere. If you just want one speaker, I would recommend the Tribit Stormbox Blast or the Earfun Uboom X. They both sound great, with full sound, clarity, and deep bass. But they are huge! Probably not easily carried from room to room, but that that is your decision to make. The Soundcore Boom 2 would be good as a single speaker too, with a smaller size, but it won't sound quite as good as these other two.

I have enjoyed the Wonderboom. I like the small footprint and 360 sound actually works well. JBL Flip 6 is good. It likely has a little bit better sound quality than Wonderboom (wonderboom sounds quite good, but I think JBL adds a bit more bass). Soundcore Motion 300 is good too. It is modeled after the Bose Flex. It does sound really good.

Oops, apologies -- I always have a ton of notifications and probably missed the Q. I returned mine purely because I needed a BT speaker for a series of gatherings at the time that never happened. In the absence of those events, I had little use for a Bluetooth speaker of any kind -- big or small -- and eventually decided to return my Luna. If I need a new speaker again though, I would probably broaden my search. I got a Soundcore Motion 300 for my dad (different needs and obviously less demanding ears) and I was very impressed by its power and clarity. The 300 and Luna are not exactly comparable products especially price wise -- but the 300 packed a lot of punch for its price whereas Luna delivered more crisp and clear vocals in my perception.

Easy to use and packs well for travel. Also has automatic EQ based on orientation (vertical, horizontal, or laying flat). I compared the Uboom L side by side with the Motion + and I did not hear much noticeable difference in bass depth. The Motion 300 however had noticeable deeper bass when I compared it to the UBL. And I did feel like it gave me a fuller sound than the UBL which I really liked. But I didn’t like that the bass didn’t carry over a distance on the 300. But up close at low volumes, the 300 will be good. I would give that a try. It’s not going to give you Boom 2 levels of bass though, not even close.

I think for best sound quality the Bose Flex and the JBL Flip 6 both sound really good. The Sony Ult 1 also sounds really good that is easy to pickup for 99 at Walmart USA. (Costco USA has the Bose for 99). Both the Soundcore Glow and Motion 300 are both really good. The 300 rips off the Bose design, but it has all of its best options of the Bose like it knows when it flat or on the edge and adjust the speakers based upon this. I have the Wonderboom 2. The newer 4 has improved base. I do like its 360 sound design and its small footprint that makes it easy to carry around.

Thank you for your insights! I tested these exact two speakers against each other (among others) in the past couple days and I agree with basically all of your points. Two things that eventually made me return the 300 and keep the UBoom: It is IP67 rated and feels like it can stand drops better than the 300. I needed speakers for my construction site and the dust proofing eventually made the difference. I felt like the UBoom was able to carry bass further than the 300 if that makes sense to you. The 300 would produce the fuller bass close by, but when standing a couple metres further away I felt like the UBooms bass was more present. I do agree with you though that the 300 feels like the more refined product and being able to use it laying flat for a more spatial sound is amazing.

The only thing with a smaller footprint that is still considered premium is probably the Bose micro. Another no brainer is the soundcore go 4. Not as good as the Bose but close enough but the bonus is it's dirt cheap and two paired in stereo to me at least sounds nicer than my uboomL and motion 300.
