Works great, only noise is the fan blowing air. Wifi and the app work great and connected seemlessly. Bought early June 2025, so a healthy year now, stored between Sept-May. Using it in a 5-600 sq/ft loft apartment. Would recommend it to anybody.
r/CostcoCanada →I have the reversible heat pump version of this one (mine’s a Midea, but the Danby is just the same thing rebadged), and it’s been going solid for years. I do recommend the heat pump one though it’s worth the extra cash especially if you have electric baseboard heat because it’ll save a ton of electric bill cost in the winter, plus be just as effective of an air conditioner in summer. Despite looking like a single hose from the outside this is actually a dual hose unit (they’re just nested inside eachother), so it doesn’t have the drawbacks of single hose ones. Avoid single hose, they pull the room down to negative pressure so heat leaks in from elsewhere and negates the whole point. My husband had to rig up some plywood and foam adapter to make it fit our window as the included plastic one doesn’t really work everywhere.

r/CostcoCanada →Where are you getting $800 from for the dual hose? Costco has a dual hose one on right now for $500, but often drops drown to 400/450. I have two of them and they've both lasted for years. If you own your home though, the window unit is a no brainer. Takes up zero space on the ground.
r/AirConditioners →I unfortunately have 2 of these. Portable air conditioners are very inefficent. If you are going to use this to cool a small bedroom it will work fine. A comparable sized window conditioner will cool a much larger space.

r/askportland • What portable AC unit brands or models do you recommend? ->Just got the rebadged Danby version of this. I even used the Midea Air App (at the suggestion of another redditor). I've always been against portable AC's compared to window shakers. Window units seem to last forever, cheaper, and work better, or so I thought. I went for this one because of the inverter and the dual hose, which are both in the same hose, and the self evaporating feature when using cool mode. I didn't want to empty any water, and the exhaust hose being inside the entire hose (idk it's hard to explain) helps cut down on heat returning into the room big time. Funny enough it only uses 250 more watts than the window unit I installed and removed. 1370 watts for a 12,000 btu a/c is on par with a window unit. I had to use an AC support stand for the window unit. It was sketch and was vibrating like a mofo so I went and got the portable one. Thing is quiet and pretty efficient, and the app is awesome. Don't have to buy a wifi ir blaster like in the past to control window units. Get the Midea or whatever rebranded version they have in your area, it's sweet ðŸ‘ðŸ¼

r/Edmonton • Best (allowable) air conditioning system for an apartment? ->Another vote for Costco. I purchased a portable air conditioner there last year so this is our second summer with it. I don't drive so having it delivered was nice. Their return policy is good. Also, I'm not sure if this is true as this was my first air conditioner purchase ever but a neighbour told me that portable air conditioners with a single exhaust hose are not that good for large spaces and to find one with a double exhaust. My main floor is pretty open concept. Costco had one with the double exhaust so I got it. Very pleased.
