First of all, this is the best opening line I've read in this channel. Matt Foley would be proud. Highly recommend the XGIMI (say, horizon pro) over benq IMHO. I'm a bit of a fanboy for XGIMI but it delivers and checks every box I need. 1. Great picture. 2. Great built in sound. 3. Interface that doesn't feel like if I move the projector a hair, I just lost 2 hours of my life repositioning it. 4. Google TV built in + 2 HDMI ports for my PS5, Apple, TV, or Xbox, switch, etc. 5. Intuitive remote 6. UX that doesn't require me to be ALL IN on one platform and just makes it easy to nav around my apps and tools or inputs.

Being realistic, you are going to have problems dealing with any ambient light in the room with the price point you are at. A model like the Nexigo Trivision Ultra is more in line with where you would want to be, or a BenQ HT2060. The XGimi Horizon is a nice model, but isn't super bright and will need a dark room to operate the best. With ambient light, you will have a very low contrast ratio. You want to be aware of the throw distance as well.. You could get a xgimi horizon s which is bright and good for gaming and 4k and probably would be my choice and a lazer mixed led based projector with 25000 hours lifetime Epson 4050 if you care for black level and lens shift etc But its a bulb and only last for 4000 hours Ive also seen short throw projectors at this price point on eBay and those should have long lifespan and are better for smaller rooms My personal choice would be the xgimi as its easy to mount and looks pretty good for the cost, i'd check it on ebay from the actual seller who sells a refurbished version for 850$ and a new one for 1100$

Hi, Really interesterd in your feedback too. I actually own a Xgimi Horizon Pro (my eighth projector but the first 4K PJ at home). Coming from JVC (X30 in France) and then BenQ W1120 (my two last 1080p PJ), I wanted to taste the 4K. I knew that its contrast is weak but this Xgimi has other strenghts. Now, I'm torned between changing again for a new PJ or getting a new big TV like TCL 98" or Hisense 100". If I stand with projectors, it won't be a laser one because 1/ the speckle 2/ the rainbow effects... I'm sensitive to the RBE and see a lot of these with laser projectors. I've been to a demo of the Hisense C2 Ultra and I got an headache after half an hour in addition to the RBE. So I think these kind of projectors are definitely not for me. I've seen Ekki Schmitt's review (cine4home.de) of the BenQ W2720i on youtube and it seems to be a very good choice with accurate colors. The only backdraw should be the brigthness. With 1300 to 1500 lumens after calibration, you are limited to a 3 meters width screen (which is already nice). Because of the dlp chip used in this BenQ (0.47), the contrast is not as good as with a 0.65 chip but Ekki Schmitt said in his review that the dynamic contrast was about 3000:1 ratio without "pumping". So it should be very usable. If it's true, this BenQ could be a bargain. Very excited to read your feedback about it...

Less than 1 year ago I bought the xgimi Horizon Pro 4K, was super impressed by build quality and thought it's a good start. ($1100) also the picture quality was OK. I would like to upgrade to an even better image. -hisense C2 ($2200) -JMGO N1S Ultimate ($2200) -BenQ TK710 / TK710STI ($1500 / $1800) -BenQ X3000i ($2300) Or wait for the Xgimi Horizon 20 / pro ($unknown as not available yet) Use: 80% movies/shows and 20% gaming in the future (GTA). Which one would you get? Will the horizon 20 pro be similar to the x3000i? Or is a BenQ TK710/sti an upgrade enough?

It's a great piece of tech. I own both the S Max and the older Horizon model. Since it isn't very big, you might need to move to another location for a day, so having good speakers also pays off. I think it's a solid choice.

The newer model is amazing so if it's half as good just buy it, as I've a older nebula 4k which didn't get great reviews compared to this one and I thought that was great. Compared to a projector from 5 years before these lasers are so much better

"RS20 ultra max" feels like thrice the projector of "Horizon pro". I liked the Horizon as long as it worked it was decent with some ambient lighting and very good in dark room. I was using only the built in speakers as it was kept in Bedroom. Projector was quiet and auto adjustments worked pretty well. Since I placed projector mostly stationery I turned off auto keystone and focus after sometime of usage as it doesn't make it to keep it on if not moving. I was projecting about 100 inch on white wall, with one window covered in about 70% dark curtain. Still it was fine on bright day. Now coming to bad parts : HDMI CEC was working only one way. ie I can control the device connected to projector using projector remote but not the projector using the device remote. I used fire tv stick for all my streaming purpose, so not being able to switch on and off, volume control from firetv stick was irritating. (Hopefully this is fixed in their newer projectors) There was no certified Netflix. Hence I had to use Firetv stick. Color calibration options was limited unlike other brands like Epson and Benq. Android was stuck on old version, there was no firmware update/os updates throughout the period I used the projector. Out of warranty support was unavailable for me due to being purchased from another country for me but that you have to worry only in special cases like mine. Also the spare parts might be really hard to come by in outside market. Design of the cooling system does not allow you to easily clean the projector and it does not come with dust filter. When I opened the projector trying to fix things I found it to be really dusty. So over years chances of fan failure/overheating is imminent if not kept in clean room and regularly vacuumed as they mentioned in their manual.

Dangbei has some good options. I traded up to the Xgimi horizon and it had a ton of good features including an HK designed sound system and Dolby vision. Latency isn't great so idk about anything ultra precise but I would recommend it overall for movies/shows and it's 4k. I got it on sale for like $1200

Hello, you mean the xgimi horizon pro right? i checked online and didn't find a xiaomi one. I got a horizon pro since 2021 or something and we use it almost daily (next to a aura and a halo+). yes everyroom has a projector in our home except for the kitchen (Most of the itme) the horizon pro 4k is a great projector, however, if you use internal speakers, you see that sound engeering has come a long way. back in the day the pro 4k had impressive audio but its 2025 and xgimi brought new proejctors and had sound improved, there, too. - sorry to begin with a "downside" but you asked for insides. in regards to android: if you use a blu ray player, you are using external inputs, which is possible. over the years we had our tv-reciver connected, a ps5 and a switch. there is no native netflix (except for a desktop /browser version) we use apple tv for that its bright enough to be used outsides, too. the biggest I went was 120 inch on a white screen. i love the design of the remote; which feels like a premium product. the horizon pro 4k supports exfat, which is a plus, too. so if you have any questions, tell me. the fan is okay by todays standard, but ventilation has come a long way, too by now. my summary: i love my xgimi horizon pro. I sold my benq non-smart 5.000 Ansi lumen for it. and i never looked back.

No problem, the S pro doesn't get talked about much, I think majority of the YouTube reviews and such are sponsor based, and it's very little out there regarding the pro. It's a good projector, looks very good, and it's definitely special at the price point it's at. Good luck

I am not here to say i know anything about the nitty gritty tech elements, but i will say that once upon a time i was probably an epson guy, I even pushed my dad that direction and then he had big complaints about connecting his soundbar that used one of those hdmi passthrough situations, because then it presents a wiring dilemma when the input for the picture is across the room from your sound. I got a cheaper xgimi horizon pro, it looks great and supports bluetooth, airplay, and otherwise a bunch of wireless sound options. So my sound is great with no wiring issues. I even think its good for gaming. time will tell on the longevity, out of the box the keystone feature was spot on, a few weeks later i sometimes have to manually tweak it.

The Horizon S Pro isn't a bad projector at all, gorgeous and vibrant image quality. I do find it more tricky to line the screen up, and the stand that XGIMI makes for it, is one of the worst quality pieces of high priced equipment that I've ever had. Compared to the C2's Vidaa OS, the Xgimi's Android TV is horrid it response. I knew it was sluggish and clunky feeling, but I didn't know how bad it was until I got the C2. It's doable, just extremely clunky. And having a non backlit remote trying to clunk through the menu's during the night is a headache until you get use to it. I also have the Halo+ New, and even with that one running Google tv, it's just something with these XGIMI projectors that just makes using the software part a clunky experience. Image quality wise they are excellent, even on the Halo+. That's if you can get them lined up properly, and get past the clunky Os. Sound quality is decent for the price range that it's in, some movies can sound muffled out more than others, but you can adjust it a bit. I ended up using a Bluetooth soundbar, the S Pro does have a sync feature to help combat the sound delay, but I feel it moves the adjustment in the wrong direction. I ended up hooking up an Apple TV to the projector and used Apples sync as it's much better if you want to use an external speaker. The only other gripe is the lack of ports, I wish it had just one more HDMI, and a 3.5mm jack bare minimum extra. But that's about it and it all drove my curiosity towards the C2 Ultra eventually. . The C2 Ultra is double the price, and it should feel a bit more premium as it does, but I'm sure the cheaper C2, and the C2 pro would feel just as premium as the Ultra in the price range closer to the Max. Without question, the C2 ultra has everything that I felt was missing from the XGIMI, it's snappy, beautiful image, back lit remote, ports galore, and sounds great. Though I'll still end up using an external speaker as I just like my sound coming from the image side of life. However, If I didn't know it was better out there, I would have been perfectly fine with the S pro. As long as you get it for the sale price. https://preview.redd.it/e49ysi2u7e5f1.jpeg?width=5584&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9bd105a6dae97d893c0117770367165f13bd4431

I did ton of research. Don't want to go through it all but everything screamed go laser. The Hisense C1 was recommended a bunch. They make a c2 and I think I remember seeing C3 just released. After all was said and done, with a throw distance similar to yours, I bought the Nebula Cosmos 4k SE when it was on sale for $1000 on black Friday. It's actually a hybrid laser/led. I love it. The other finalist was the XGIMI Horizon Pro 4K (LED tech). Brighter specs, but more expensive and the Nebula got better YouTube reviews. I didn't need the extra brightness as I was not dealing with ambient light. Use it in a dedicated 150" theater with lights off for movies, shows, live sports, and gaming. 7.1.4 Dolby vision sound. https://preview.redd.it/drvby6qzmnfe1.jpeg?width=4000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c2262447ab22722550ad13829c74289f8c679994

There are still good deals on some of the Xgimi models for black Friday. Some of the slightly older models in the Horizon line are 700-800 and offer good features and quality. They run Android TV but don't have Netflix for some certification reason (can always add a stick).
