Depends on your use case, the PX3-Pro still seems to be the best mixed use UST. Nexigo Aurora Pro mkii is best for dark rooms. If you don't need UST then you have more options (Valerian Max, Dangbei S7 ultra)
r/projectors • Is this truly the best projector over $5k? ->Just got my PX3 as well. Quick things: - out the box it had smooth motion / motion interpolation enabled, which may be the "clinical" thing you are experiencing. Turn that crap off :) - play with the focus some. It's pretty easy to have it ever so slightly out of focus and it's hard to tell. - Try one of the dark picture modes. Otherwise, no RBE effect here, but that really sounds like it's a person to person thing.
r/projectors • New PX3-Pro ->A 132 inch Nothing Projector ALR/CLR screen combined with a good UST projector would be another option. ALR screens with UST's reject a ton of environmental light and focus the light back towards the viewers, and with an UST the projector would be right next to the screen so nobody would be walking through the projected image. Your Formovie Theater Premium, your PX3-Pro, etc. Long throw is great for dedicated theater rooms but in more mixed use spaces you come up against the fact that any light in the room severely degrades the experience and you need to paint the room black to compensate for spill light (even though the Slate is ALR it's kind of ALR light and not remotey as effective at light rejection as UST, because UST shines the light from a very specific point below the screen). Just thought I'd float the idea to consider at least. Oh, and you can get 150 inch ALR screens for UST's but they're super expensive ($5k, which I consider expensive for a screen personally; perhaps not for a $40k budget guy) and they all have a seam, the largest seamless one I know is that 132. This would also lower your purchasing cost by a noticeable amount. I mean... a factor of four. Image-quality wise, modern UST's can compete with just about any long throw and beat some. Installation is both easier and harder (figuring out where to put the center speaker and such) but they do make cabinets specifically for nice looking installs with motorized shelves for the projector; internet image search: https://duckduckgo.com/?&q=ust+projector+cabinets&iax=images&ia=images - though they may be made for either 100 or 120 inches specifically. Salamander makes variants with the projector sunk into the cabinet itself, like https://www.salamanderdesigns.com/formovie-theater/ But sure, a QL3000 and a Slate screen would be pretty freaking spectacular I'm sure. I don't think the QB1000 makes sense. It's too expensive. At those prices you could be looking at JVC's LCoS (D-ILA) models and get considerably better picture quality than 3LCD, too. The LS12000 is more sensible and very comparable to the QB1000. All just one guy's opinions naturally.
r/projectors • Epson QB1000 vs Ql3000 - Overkill? ->AWOL 3500 is bright but has atrocious black level. Avoid imo. Hisense great. LG is old shit, it's not worth the money, I believe its RBE is reportedly also bad. Formovie Theater Premium, top notch, like the PX3 Pro. Another option not listed: Nexigo Aurora Pro, has the best black level vs these and is great for dark room viewing, should be gettable for about 2 grand, not sure of exact price now. But, Aurora Pro Mk2 is in pre-order for $2299 if you want to roll the dice, they added features that on paper should make it superb. On paper. Sight unseen. Thus, "roll the dice". Whichever one you get *you need a proper ALR screen* and those are maybe a thousand bucks for a 120 inch, and I think Nothing Projector has a 132 inch for under 2 grand. A motorized floor rising from Spectra Vision, Vividstorm or similar is in the $2 grand ballpark for a 120.
r/projectors • Ultra Short Throw (UST) Projectors - Recommendations? ->Actually, it was easily beaten by both the PX3 Pro and the Nexigo Aurora Pro MKII in the comparo The Hook Up did.
r/projectors • Best 4K projector under 3k? ->For anyone who wants to buy AWOL UST in 2025, that's the worst. You simply get better with PX3-Pro if you want to 3D.
r/projectors • Best 4K UST Projectors for 3D? ->Do not buy the PX3 pro for 3d. It's great but not for 3d. Trust me.
r/projectors • Best 4K UST Projectors for 3D? ->I'll put the likes of hisense l9q, px3 pro and nexigo ap mk2 ahead of it.
r/hometheater • Anyone here tried AWOL Vision's triple-laser UST projector? Saw it mentioned in a Black Friday roundup. ->I had to add some shims under the base of my floor rising screen to fix the tilt. Then everything else was easier. One way or another I think you need to fix that first. I also have a PX3-Pro and Im loving it. You'll get there.
r/projectors • Can't align a ust projector with floor rising alr screen ->I am loving my PX3-Pro. I haven't really turned on my Bravia 9 since getting it. The picture aint that far off and surprisingly way better than i thought it would be.
r/hometheater • Help Selecting Projector ->Ive got a PX3-Pro with a 120" floor rising screen. Also a 85" Sony Bravia 9 in this room. I like having both and use them pretty equally. PX3 Pro rips by the way. Image quality is nearly as good as the Bravia 9.
r/projectors • Any regrets switching from TV to projector ->The Hisense PX3-PRO is king right now. I'd get it if I could find a way to sell my LSP7T or LSP9T. Awol's reputation is... touchy; others here could elaborate better than I. LG... I've never heard anything bad about their line, but I've never heard anything stellar either.
r/projectors • UST Laser/Projector tvs that should be on my radar? ->PX3-PRO is the top dog right now at that budget. $3K would be a good price. Black Friday/CM is a month away though, I'd wait at this point. // Meanwhile, you're going to need to elevate the UST projector though. Sitting on that hearth will have part of the image hitting that fireplace...which I hope you never plan to use if you're going to have a UST and screen there. (I wouldn't chance it, ever). Also, the width of that space where the image would go... I feel like an 85" TV makes more sense there? It would be brighter than a UST for one, and it would do a good job of filling most of that space, for two.
r/projectors • Ultra-short throw projectors: should I go for Hisense, or something else? ->PX3-Pro. It won the most recent UST Projector showdown put on by ProjectorScreen.com. It's roughly $3300ish.
r/projectors • Ultra short throw 4k projector for gaming ->[More info here](https://shop.hisense-usa.com/products/hisense-px3-pro-trichroma-ultra-short-throw-home-theater-projector-80-150-4k-uhd-dolby-vision-atmos-hdr10-3000-ansi-lumens-google-tv-netflix). HDMI 2.1, rated for Xbox, etc. I'd get it, but I don't need a third UST, hence me trying to sell my LSP7T.
r/projectors • Ultra short throw 4k projector for gaming ->Px3-pro for sure if you're looking for UST projector

Hisense l9g won't be out until the summer but will be a great UST. the px3-pro outright now is a great choice. The new ALLM update for Formovie premium coming shortly as well.
r/projectors • View on Reddit →I like the picture on our PX3 Pro, but there are some issues with audio on the eARC port and how it interacts with my Nakamichi sound system. As long as I feed the source signals directly into the soundbar and only video to the PX3, it works fine.
r/projectors • View on Reddit →Hisense px3-pro for an all around UST in both dark and light environments.
r/projectors • View on Reddit →I got the Vividstorm UST ALR 150 inch floor rising screen with Hisense PX3 pro. Now getting a custom cabinet made for this. Let me know if you have any questions.
r/projectors • View on Reddit →Nice setup already! Since you're gaming a lot, I'd prioritize low input lag and 120Hz support especially for Xbox and PS5. The Formovie Theater and PX3 Pro are great for colors and contrast, but the LG HU915QE might edge out slightly on brightness. Waiting on the L9Q could be smart if you're not in a rush it might bring upgrades without a big price jump.
r/projectors • View on Reddit →I have two of these and they actually suck. Lots of laser specle and migraine inducing rainbow effects. Luckily I found a buyer for one of them.
r/projectors • View on Reddit →No regrets I got a 77 in OLED and its great but when I made my theatre room it blew it out of the fucking water. The sheer size at 120 inches is amazing. Even in the day time (I dont have curtains yet for in there) it is great but you have to do your research on screens dont cheap out. I got a hisense Pro x3 and its great quality and low latency for video games. I will never go back to TV
r/hometheater • View on Reddit →I have one too and I hate it and have the same issues as you. I was traveling for a while and missed the return window. I have tried everything to make it look good and you can't. I actually envy people with bad eye sight that can't see the faults. I now have it in my music room playing 80s MTV videos.
r/projectors • View on Reddit →I really love my Hisense Px3-Pro - I just wish it could power my Denon receiver on and off like my old Optoma could.
r/projectors • View on Reddit →I used to love my LG OLED, watched lots of movies there. Then, moved to my first 1080p projector in 100 inches, my first impression was on screen size, it looked amazing. Now I have a 4K 3D Laser projector (Hisense PX-3 Pro) and couldn't be happier. Everything looks spectacular in 4K Dolby Vision/3D 110 inch screen, even gaming (Nintendo Switch 2). I would recommend to buy a cheap one, just to know if it's your thing. But in my experience, I preffer a giant screen instead of perfect black on 55 inch OLED.

r/projectors • View on Reddit →Currently, the px3-pro. If you liked the l9h, the px3-pro is much better.
r/projectors • View on Reddit →For anyone who wants to buy AWOL UST in 2025, that's the worst. You simply get better with PX3-Pro if you want to 3D.
r/projectors • View on Reddit →As echoed here by many others, the px3-pro beats the awol is everyday and less money. The Epson for those susceptible to rainbow effect and sensitive to laser speckle, the Epson has neither. I have all three at our showroom; happy to get into details about them or any other options; DM me if interested.
r/projectors • View on Reddit →If budget is critical, you get more features and gameplay w the laser dlp projection. Epson is a good company and they are built well, but having seen my daughter setup using Hisense pro, my thoughts of these cheaper projector has changed. That being said, I won't give up my JVC nz800
r/projectors • View on Reddit →Px3-pro for sure if you're looking for UST projector
r/projectors • View on Reddit →PX3 is a great unit, I play CoD on it most nights at 130" - only caveat is that I don't have the PX3 pro, as it wasn't/isn't available where I live in Australia.
r/projectors • View on Reddit →The Hisense will have more vibrant colors because it's triple laser but will also have some rainbow effect and laser speckle; but not everyone is bothered by those things. Both are super solid options, so it may come down to where you would rather have the projector "mounted" in your room. I have both of these in our showroom And happy to get into more details/questions about them and help you decide which may be best for you; feel free to DM me
r/projectors • View on Reddit →I meant to add: mine is in a living room with several windows around it, though none are directly on it. And it is more than bright enough. We have no problems watching in the middle of the day.
r/projectors • View on Reddit →You are better off going right to the hisense px3-pro; a much better projector for close to half the price of the lpu9d: https://www.projectorscreen.com/blog/2024-ust-projector-showdown-ultra-short-throw-projector-shootout
r/projectors • View on Reddit →i have the px3 pro and it is amazing. The onboard speakers are great. It has so many apps, you won't need a streaming stick. I have geforce now on it and am running moonlight/sunlight for games from my PC. 120 inch ALR screen and it works in the daytime with some light comign in. GLORIOUS when shades are drawn/nighttime. Edit: Upgraded from a 5040 UB - lightyears better
r/projectors • View on Reddit →One is a long throw the other is UST. Depends on the room you're using and if you can accommodate a long throw projector. These are both very different. I have the PX3 pro and love it! I've been using it intensely in my living room. I live in a corner unit with windows from floor to ceiling with black out drapes. With the drapes open the picture is mostly washed out. I can still see the picture but it's not worth watching at that point. For this reason I keep my drapes closed. Kind of defeats the beauty of having wrap around tall windows with a view. Total blacked out theater room, you'd be fine with either. I would look in to set up, features, etc before I pulled the trigger. Good luck
r/projectors • View on Reddit →PX3 Pro from Hisense, best bang for your buck imo
r/PS5pro • View on Reddit →The PX3 Pro has a gamer mode and is X Box certified.
r/projectors • View on Reddit →Px3-pro is great but if you are coming from oled i would recommend Nexigo aurora mk II pro instead. You'll loose some brightness but get a way better contrast that is closer to oled then the hisense.
r/projectors • View on Reddit →Ive got a PX3-Pro with a 120" floor rising screen. Also a 85" Sony Bravia 9 in this room. I like having both and use them pretty equally. PX3 Pro rips by the way. Image quality is nearly as good as the Bravia 9.
r/projectors • View on Reddit →Yeah, tech has definitely moved on from the P2. If you're locked into UST, the Hisense PX3-PRO and XGIMI Aura 2 are both solid upgrades in overall image quality, with better HDR and usability than the P2. Which one makes more sense really depends on what you care about most (gaming features vs pure movie performance vs brightness for a living room). The Aurora Pro mentioned below is also a clear step up from the P2, so it's really a question of budget and which strengths line up best with your setup.
r/projectors • View on Reddit →Hey bro, got the hisense px3 pro and I love it:) not sure how to do 240 hz yet but everything is almost identical to my oled monitor (colors and black levels are insane) but honestly don't over think your choice as you'll be happy with which ever projector you go with! Most importantly just go with what you can afford. If you don't like it, you can always return it!
r/projectors • View on Reddit →I have the space as well but chose to use UST. I have a Spectra Vantage 120" ALR/CLR screen. I originally chose a Nothing projector alr but it was flimsy and bowed in the middle terribly. My walls are flat as I live in a newly renovated apartment. After reading on line and following the hook up on YouTube and watching several of his videos on the subject I chose the px3 and switched to the spectra combination. I think he has videos on long throw as well. You should check him out. Worth giving a follow.
r/projectors • View on Reddit →See my recent post in this sub - [https://www.reddit.com/r/projectors/comments/1ju2q7p/using\_px3pro\_with\_100\_inch\_fresnel\_alr\_screen\_in/](https://www.reddit.com/r/projectors/comments/1ju2q7p/using_px3pro_with_100_inch_fresnel_alr_screen_in/) I went for Hisense PX3-Pro UST and 100" Fresnel ALR screen. To be honest, my intent was not to substitute a TV, but rather expand the possibilities of projector. The primary use-case is still watching movies (or series), and I wanted an option to do that outside of very dark conditions. The result is totally satisfying for me for most cases. Except for direct sunlight the picture is perfectly watchable, and with reasonable ambient light it's very good (nice colors, enough brightness). For sports or TV channels the picture itself would be brighter due to the content type, as movies are generally "darker". So picture wise I think UST projector for ALR screen may work. Cases where I would consider TV vs projector 1 - no love for projected image (it's different, less sharp, no individual pixels, etc.) 2 - want perfect blacks and can go with an OLED (e.g. 83" is enough or have plenty of money for 97") 3 - frequent gaming (support for high refresh rates, etc.), but I don't believe serious gamers use 100", and for casual gaming it shouldn't be critical 4 - physical activity near the screen ;) kids running or playing switch sports, etc. (and one shouldn't look into the laser) 5 - TV needs less "care" generally - ALR screens are relatively more gentle 6 - decent TV could still be brighter with whatever outstanding nits that high TV models advertise
r/projectors • View on Reddit →Do not buy the PX3 pro for 3d. It's great but not for 3d. Trust me.
r/projectors • View on Reddit →PX3 Pro here with an ALR 120-inch screen. Zero regrets. It's been the best thing I've had over the last year. I would instantly get another one if for some reason it died on me, though I did buy it with a multi-year warranty from the projector people.
r/projectors • View on Reddit →I have the PX2 and very happy with it. The PX3 is only going to be better.
r/hometheater • View on Reddit →Personally if I was poking at AWOL 3500 Pro price range, I'd rather buy a Hisense PX-3 with a 2 year warranty (and buy it with CitiDouble Cash card to double the warranty). For daytime viewing, you'll need an ALR screen regardless.
r/projectors • View on Reddit →PX3 paired with Sonos Arc Ultra and sub. 4k all in and you will be blown away
r/projectors • View on Reddit →Actually, it was easily beaten by both the PX3 Pro and the Nexigo Aurora Pro MKII in the comparo The Hook Up did.

r/projectors • View on Reddit →I'll put the likes of hisense l9q, px3 pro and nexigo ap mk2 ahead of it.
r/hometheater • View on Reddit →Yea exactly. I personally didn't really ever have a problem with black levels until I started reading about them and realized that even in my 82" Samsung that I was never really happy with the black levels and how shitty they looked at times. After making adjustments on the Samsung and the source video being one of the main culprits it became wildly important when purchasing my first projector. So far i am very happy with my purchase and use the best source video I can find at the moment. For context I use an android box but mainly I use an Apple tv 4k. I have everything I want to watch and can entertain people with zero issues. I also use gamepass on my ATV and it's perfect for gaming. Also just an FYI the hisense px3 pro is the first projector to have an Xbox affiliation of any kind endorsed on it. I don't have a console but was going to buy one to use for both gaming and bluray media.
r/projectors • View on Reddit →If you are looking specifically to spend over $5k, then yes, it is the best UST at that price point. Is it the "best" projector for your specific case? That is another question. Specifically speaking about UST; the L9Q is ideal in a bright room where all of the horsepower that it produces is needed, however for viewing in a traditional theater environment where the extra brightness is not needed and you may be chasing a lower black floor, the the Hisense PX3-PRO is an extremely versatile machine that is a happy medium. We're hosting the 2025 UST Showdown on 11/8/25 and the L9Q, PX3-Pro and several others that have been/will be mentioned will all be put up against the L9Q with its latest firmware being released early next week. When speaking about "any" projector over $5,000 - the answer is no. Not because the L9Q is a bad projector, but there are many much more premium and expensive options available above that price point.
