If clear picture, good brightness, reliable performance for movies and gaming are a priority and also at a reasonable price, can't go wrong with the BenQ HT2050A or the Epson Home Cinema. Personally I have seen Epson at almost everyone's home(basement) who I have visited and it checks all the boxes except looking borderline bulky!
r/projectors • The Best Projector Right Now? Recommendations ->If you want a solid, reliable projector that's not overly complicated, I'd lean more toward something like the BenQ HT2050A, it's got great image clarity and pretty good brightness, especially for casual movies and gaming. The Epson Home Cinema 2150 is also a strong pick if you want a bit more flexibility and a brighter, more evenly lit image. The Anker Capsule is super portable but limited in lumens, so it's best for very low-light setups. As for Dangbei, I'd recommend checking out their compact laser/LED models, they offer great value for picture quality, build, and long-term performance, especially if you're okay investing a little more for quality.
r/projectors • The Best Projector Right Now? Recommendations ->Bought dlp benq 2050 returned it, tried epson 3lcd didnt like motion handling. Went back to dlp benq and now i'm enjoying it. Seems like my brain/eyes are now used to it and i don't see it anymore.
r/projectors • Bought an expensive and a cheap projector. Time to see which one I keep ->Damn that is expensive! Check out some of these models. If any are available in your area and are affordable pick them up! You said you like the HT2050. Might be worth looking for one. If none of these are available for a decent price the FH02 isn't a bad call but is my last option in my opinion. 1070 (Worst of Bunch but a great option) HT2050 MH750 (Brightest) 575 (Best for movies and Great for gaming) 681 (Good) 680 (Good) 685 (Great for Movies and Best for Gaming) 671 (Good) Also when buying these used if that's what is available near you make sure they have low lamp hours. Less than half used is probably fine. Anything above factor in buying a new lamp.
r/budgetprojectors • Best projector for dim rooms within a given budget ->Nebula and Xgimi mogo2 are objectively worse than HT2050A. Horizon ultra gets much brighter, but the contrast is bad and black are really lifted. If horizon ultra is in your budget then I'd choose the refurbished hisense c1 over that. The improvement of HT2050A over the nebula or mogo2 is going to be much more dramatic than the improvement of c1 over HT2050A though.
r/projectors • A complete projector beginner, what should I get? ->There is no difference between a 4:3 projector and a 16:9 projector when they are digital. The pixels are put up filling up the available space, and can maintain the proper aspect ratio. So, if you feed a 16:9 projector a 4:3 image, it will appear as 4:3. A projector like the BenQ W1070, or similar with the proper inputs on it are the way to go. DLP with decent input lag times is a plus. BenQ maintained analog inputs on their projector up to the HT2050a. Their newest HT2060 ditched composite video and is HDMI only. Retro gaming is always a passion more than anything else as those games were definitely designed to be used with analog displays, so the same impact you get using a LCD monitor or TV, will be what happens when using a digital projector.
r/projectors • Projector for Retro consoles ( 4:3) ->You aren't getting a 4K projector for $500, simple as that. At that price you hit the absolute bottom end of what name brand models start to work at for full sized models, or you get some pretty reasonable portable models that are using DLP tech in them. Watch this video for some idea of what is out there... [https://youtu.be/jmmGQOSAReI?si=aUW1kYOJ7jLEBPPS](https://youtu.be/jmmGQOSAReI?si=aUW1kYOJ7jLEBPPS) This video is also worth a viewing... [https://youtu.be/vHmy8sobWEc?si=kb33PQKUbT4LySPk](https://youtu.be/vHmy8sobWEc?si=kb33PQKUbT4LySPk) There are some really great 1080p models from name brands on the used market which are absolutely worth consideration. A refurb/used BenQ HT2050a is going to absolutely blow away anything else that is likely to come up near that price point.
r/projectors • Best Projector (Budget: $500) ->The 2060 is very similar to the 2050 but doesn't need bumbs and has hdr and will accept 4k input (I believe). Both are very good. The 3550 has 4k pixels. It's not as bright so only good to 120" in a dim room. All three are solid options
r/projectors • Another person asking for projector recommendations ->BenQ HT2050 or the updated 2060. Not sure how much or how competitive you play games but I've had fun with some casual halo, star wars Squadrons, Morrowind and Skyrim on mine. They aren't 4k but they look great. Also keep an eye on the factory refurbished site for BenQ and Epson you can score some decent deals.

I had the ht2050a for 10 years and recently upgraded but it had great color and blacks for the price and is frequently regarded in reviews as the best projector you can buy under $1k for movies. Benq is also a trusted brand with great customer service if you do experience any issues - there are a lot of untrustworthy new brands you find on Amazon where you would be SOL if there were ever a problem.
r/projectors • Projector for movie nights, overwhelmed by options ->The Picture Quality between a 500 Bucks BenQ HT2050a and these Toy-"Projectors" are not even comparable!
r/projectors • View on Reddit →yes I mean two hundred dollars. It's cheap but not one of the mega cheap ones. It compares favorably to the mega cheap ones but is crappier than my $700 Benq 2050 and much crappier than the epson 5050UB in the living room. You need near total darkness for the cheaper ones to look decent, some of them just don't focus at all, etc. I do video synthesis nonsense and weird installations and stuff so I am always looking for whatever the cheapest thing that's bright enough to show up in a lit space and focuses reasonably well.
r/projectors • View on Reddit →Projectors last a long time, so spend the money on a good one now. I picked up a $750 1080p Benq, expecting to replace it within three years. It's been eight. I'm now willing to drop $5000 on an Epson LS12000 because I now know it will last me a decade. Silver Ticket screens are solid. Sure the Steward is better, but there's diminishing returns after a certain price. You can always upgrade your screen at a later date, but I doubt you'll feel the need.
r/projectors • View on Reddit →lol. Dude, come on. You ever heard the phrase blooming? Do you think that light bleed doesn't impact overall contrast or shadow detail? Do you think that dark scenes should just be mid greys? Like a space scene shouldn't actually be black? You're reaching. There's a massive difference in picture quality/contrast/shadow detail between my Benq HT2050 and my Panasonic Plasma and LG C1. I love my theater and for the most part the image is great from the Benq, but it can't compete with displays that can do true blacks.
r/projectors • View on Reddit →Thanks you for the suggestions! Unfortunately though, the **Th575** falls into that skyrocketed price conundrum.. Best price I could find it here was around \~8000 BRL (which is 1400 USD). **I know it's better, but I don't think it is "double the price better".** That puts it way above what I'd be willing to pay. =/ The **Th685** is also hard to find, but I've found one new for 1621 USD and an 'openbox/refub/used' for 1242 USD. fun(?) anectode: I kid you not -- sometimes it's cheaper to buy an off-season two-way plane ticket to the US, buy it there and bring it home than buy stuff here. People used to do this all the time with iPhones and Laptops in general. Something changed in the last decade though where some lines of products are virtually the same price or cheaper (Samsung phones, for instance). In fact we have a BenQ HT2050 in her home that we bought in the US. It certainly gives a great experience, and we always watch stuff together when I'm there. But I also bought a awfully cheap (34USD) LED+LCD (HY300) one for a friend of mine recently, and while it had plenty of issues, it manages to create a really cool experience of watching animations in the ceiling together, and stuff. In order of importance, my issues with it: \- high chance of burning the polarizer filter someday (months??) in the future; \- non-sealed optics which will become annoying unless disassembled and cleaned semi-regularly, which would be a PITA; \- awful focus on the borders; \- only usable at night / very dark; So I've spent days and dozens of hours **looking for one that wouldn't break the bank, but that at least wouldn't burn in, and wouldn't get dust inside the lenses**. Those are the main points. But since I'm considering shelling out \~700 USD, I'm hoping to also get: **Better border focus, 1080p, and being able to decently-ish discern shadow details on dark scenes (even if it means the whole black floor is raised or something).** I believe the Epson EF21, using a 3-LCD system and being a reasonably reputable brand wouldn't really be susceptible to that burn-in issue. They literally offer a 2 year (or 12.000 hours, whichever comes first) warranty. **So I've been mostly trying to decide between paying:** $691 for the Epson EF21 (Laser + 3LCD), \~1000 lumens; $757 for the Dangbey Atom (Laser + DLP), \~1000 lumens; $485 for the Epson FH02 (Lamp + 3LCD), \~2000 lumens in eco mode; or $140 for any chinese cheap LED+1LCD with \~300 lumens but that at least has some sealed optics, and **hope for the best**. I'm not planning on using it for extended sessions anyway.. Just here and there, maybe a couple of movies twice a week at most. But well aware it may not have a very long life.
r/budgetprojectors • View on Reddit →Benq had one was amazing, cost 800 or so but you'll get a cheaper used one, had no issues and it looked really good native 1080p, it was a gaming one so low input lag too and I put an amazon fire stick into it to make it smart
r/AskIreland • View on Reddit →Good call on the Epson HC 980; that's a solid pick for your use case. If you want slightly better contrast and a touch of lens shift for easier placement, the BenQ HT2050A or HT2060 are great alternatives, but for simple nighttime streaming the HC 980 is a solid pick.
r/projectors • View on Reddit →I went from cheaper 70inch 4k Samsung to benq 1080p projector I purchased on eBay. Even though the resolution isn't as good I prefer the projector by a long shot. I love it
r/projectors • View on Reddit →Have a look at Richer Sounds. I picked up a BenQ 1080p projector for £200 and gor a discount for signing up to their newsletter. It was a return / open box. I was projecting almost my full wall height - it was amazing. Room layout change means a smaller projected size now but still great.

r/budgetprojectors • View on Reddit →Well you need to give us some information about the space. I would go ahead and drop the BenQ GV1. 1. BenQ W1070: The Budget-Conscious Home Theater Enthusiast. 2. BenQ HT1075 (or W1075) :The Casual Living Room Viewer who needs flexibility. 3. XGIMI Halo+ : The Modern, Highly Mobile Media Consumer. 4. XGIMI Elfin (non flip): The Minimalist Smart Home User. 5. BenQ W1110 (or HT2050): The Affordable, Dedicated Home Cinema Setup. 6. BenQ MH684: The High-Brightness Presentation or Sports Viewer.
r/budgetprojectors • View on Reddit →I use the benq ht205a 1080p projector with firestick max gen 2
r/xcloud • View on Reddit →It has nothing to do with pricing. More so performance. Since tv and movies watching is the priority this model would be able to handle that.
r/budgetprojectors • View on Reddit →I've been rocking a BenQ HT2050a for over 5 years now. It's only 1080p, and sure, I would love to upgrade to a 4k, but I still love this thing. I have changed one lamp and paid $250.00 in that 5 years. At this point I've invested approximately $1000.00 counting the initial purchase and lamp change. It plays games with next to no lag, and I play a lot of games that are vital to not have lag. No issues at all. It's awesome for retro gaming as well provided you have a good video upscaler. I hear the BenQ HT2050 is about $200-300 used on eBay right now. That's a steal. Especially if you can get one with a good lamp. I plan on keeping this thing after I upgrade to a 4K for a dedicated retro gaming room. I love it that much. Only thing I hate is that in order to tear down and clean these things, it's not very intuitive and could be much better. I wish they would put projectors in dedicated enclosures like a PC so you can do maintenance easily.
r/projectors • View on Reddit →Hi op, so for a basement space I'd recommend the Epson EH-TW units, other brands such as BenQ and Viewsonic would be great options as well. XGIMI has the Horizon Pro 4K. BenQ W1070, W1070+, HT2150ST, HT2050A, HT3050, and etc. Optoma HD141X-146X
r/budgetprojectors • View on Reddit →A good quality 1080 projector that can pass through 4K content is fantastic (especially on a 100 inch). I have a 1080 BenQ and haven't felt the need to upgrade to 4k yet. I get the mastering and bitrate of 4K discs, just not the actual raw resolution. I didn't have to spend over $1000, not even close. In fact I spent $425, which is *insane* for the level of quality. It works out very well. Though I may have to change the bulb soon lol.
r/projectors • View on Reddit →Try to look locally and find a used epson 880/660/1080/1060 or benq ht2050. They're old enough that they're probably around that price used and they have well documented response times. I sold my HT2050 for 250$ on fb marketplace last year. If you can go up to 500$ you can find an epson official refurbished hc1080 https://epson.com/Certified-ReNew/c/cc?q=%3Aprice-asc%3AdiscontinuedFlag%3Afalse%3AinStockFlag%3Atrue%3AproductType%3APROJECTOR
r/projectors • View on Reddit →The first projector I ever bought was a Benq ht2050a and it was also the first time I learned I was sensitive to the rainbow effect with DLP. Had to eat the restock fee and stuck with Epson ever since. Once you see it with DLP it will drive you crazy.
r/projectors • View on Reddit →So ht2060 is worth it? My ht2050 just died and it was 10 years old. Have a cheap Elephas wk1 for now
r/projectors • View on Reddit →I had benq ht2050 for years and just replaced it hisense c2 pro on 120" screen. Super happy with the jump from 1080 lamp to 4k laser.
r/projectors • View on Reddit →FWIW, I upgraded from the HT2050a to a HT4550, and while picture quality is fantastic, the upgrade wasn't really worth the price of admission. By necessity, viewers will sit far enough from the screen for a 1080p picture to be almost as good as the 4k one, and most modern media (movies as well as game consoles) have bitrates that don't take full advantage of 4k.
r/projectors • View on Reddit →This is what I have and I'd recommend it as well. I think it's discontinued now (2060 is the replacement), but I grabbed a used one on eBay a couple years ago for $500 or so and it works great.
r/projectors • View on Reddit →Some day, visit an audiophile forum and do a search on "Bose". Selling $0.25 speakers for $100 didn't start with Beats (by Dre?). Bose started that crap in the 70s-00s. And they'll *never* be forgiven. People who care far more about audio than I do despise Bose with unfathomable fury. I'm not a subscriber here, I'm content for the moment with the 10 year old BenQ 2050 hanging from my ceiling. If I were to upgrade, there's a 90% chance it would be to a large OLED TV, 10% chance it would be to a nice tri-laser setup ($5k+ just for the projector). I haven't looked into inexpensive projectors since 2017, so I'm not the one to ask.

r/projectors • View on Reddit →I just bought a used BenQ 2050 and BenQ 1075ht. Both were 150. Amazing upgrade from my yaber. I got them on Facebook marketplace and remembered seeing a couple ultra short throw BenQ on there too. One of them does have an incredible amount of dust inside.. not visible on the screen but it's going to be a projector take a part in clean..maybe double check vents etc before buying used first. The pic is amazing but still worried about all the dust in the 2050.
r/projectors • View on Reddit →I have a room that's a bit smaller than yours and I made a 110" projector work with a benq HT2050 at first and then a benq HT4550i. My room really revolves around the projector/screen/multimedia. Your room looks like a nice living/sitting room, so I don't know if you'd want to do the same as me. Objectively, I see no issue with mounting a screen above the fireplace area to drop down and a projector on the ceiling. You could do a benq ht2060, which is 1080P but great quality and short (not ultra short) throw. A bit higher priced would be the benq 700/710. I mostly mention benq because they have shorter throws and i'm familiar with them. I'm also familiar with epson but they throw pretty long https://imgur.com/oUZo8V5 my room was around 132" x 120"
r/projectors • View on Reddit →I just want to share the enjoyment I get from having projector in front of my bed. It has been one of the best purchase decision I made. It looks a little bit high but it's actually perfect when you semi lie down on the bed. I also setup apple tv 4k with it. It's not a smart projector (ht2050a) but when set up correctly, turning on apple tv also turns the projector on, and it auto turns off when apple tv is off. It feels way better than normal smart tv UI, apple UI is much smoother and uncluttered. I play apple arcade, watch movies, GeForce now, switch, steam link with it. It's amazing what a good projector and good smart tv box can achieve. Thank you for this sub that recommends 2050a, it is much better than my previous purchase. Any improvement to the setup is welcome. Ideally maybe I would like to have a screen for it but I don't know how much of an improvement it's going to be.
r/projectors • View on Reddit →Wow, stars create light?? Mind blown. Yes the HT2050 is a cheap projector. I'm well aware of its cheapness. My upgrade path has more to do with black levels and contrast ratio then color grading. Because for what it is, the 2050 puts out a damn fine picture under most circumstances. Maybe black levels/contrast ratio aren't your thing and you don't care about a washed out image. You do you.
