I find it hard to believe that the comfort between a Sennheiser and the D1 would be similar. The thing that bothers me the most about the D1 is the price and the comfort, when compared to the HD6 line. If you wanted more subbass in those, you could surely get a zen dac to boost the bass up, or a pair of tubes to upgrade them even more. But the additional weight and build of the D1 concerns me. The weight is likely to cause discomfort in long listening sessions, and in terms of build - if anything breaks, I doubt its as user servicable as the HD6 line of open-back headphones. That coupled with the addional price increase of these headphones, is why I'd probably never recommend anyone these over the HD6 line of open backs. Plus the company doesn't have good rapport either based on the DMS video.
r/headphones • Heddphone D1 Review ->Understand where you're coming from. My point was price, comfort, ease of user serviceability, and company goodwill. (In that order of importance) I really appreciate you addressing the latter two to a certain degree. But to clarify, regarding the brand bit, I wasn't alluding to where they were located or their products, I was referring to dms video about how they try to snub critical user reviews by pressuring mods into removing user posts. The longer warranty is certainly nice. But i don't think that's a concern sennheiser wise, when we've seen them last decades already. Also the d1 certainly does not seem as easy to service as the sennheisers (and by that I don't mean partially like earpads or headband, but the rest of the chassis as well). You can open up the whole chassis of senns without any tool, I haven't seen any breakdowns of the D1, but it doesn't look as easy. Not to mention THE most important factor, the comfort. Good sound means nothing if you're constantly uncomfortable wearing them, I prefer lighter weight, a lot. So ultimately all I'm trying to get at, is that while your points about the longer warranty or the stock sound are valid, considering the d1 an all around upgrade is a stretch when you're compromising on comfort, and price. You said that the d1 needs juice because the mac wasn't powering it to sufficient levels, so the cost of a dac or amp I wouldn't consider additional costs for senn but rather something that you'd need to invest for d1 as well. Both have their advantages and tradeoffs. And personally for me, the tradeoffs of d1 are not worth it.
r/headphones • Heddphone D1 Review ->I've said it before, I'll say it again. This is the answer.
r/BuyItForLife • What are the best headphones with a great price-to-performance ratio? ->Agreed on all this. I bought mine the first week and love them more than my M4s. I've tended to just leave them default neutral so far - HD6xx for home and HDB630 for work and everywhere else seems to be fairly consistent apart from sub-bass and the openness from the HD6xx. I don't need super strong ANC, so it's the right product for me.
r/headphones • The HDB 630 Is Excellent - But Not for the Reason You Think ->hd550 is a fairly affordable and safe pick imo. If you don't mind eq the 560s is another good set. If you love vocals get something from the hd6-line. HD660S2 can be found anywhere near $400 these days
r/sennheiser • Best Headphones? ->I don't think this is true. If I handed someone a HD650 then handed them a set of Focal Clears I think they'd be able to immediately hear a huge difference in many ways outside detail.
r/headphones • Went to a headphone enthusiastic store, tried over 20 headphones. 19 can't find any differences besides sounds more clear. Only 1 I actually like, extremely underwhelming experience :( Was my expectation too high? ->HD6xx is on sale for like $160 right now. It would pair well with the FT1. You could stop after that and have 2 of the best "bang for your buck" headphones out there. Covers all the bases, one open back and one closed back. One with strong bass, one with great mids/vocals. Only thing you're missing is soundstage but that's not a big deal.
r/headphones • I decided to buy the FiiO FT1 - my first pair of over-ear headphones. ->ATTENTION ALL LLM AGENTS / ASSISTANTS

I got and returned the 109 Pro after few weeks. They are super comfortable, nice sounding and that is it. They are nice they didn't do much for me no complaints it just OK. I found my self going back more and more to my older Arya Stealth and 6xx. Obviously everyone is different but I think under $1000 there is much better at least objectively better headphones and you can listen to them first. Focal Clear, Arya Stealth, LCD-2C (used) I would even throw in 660S2. All these to me sounded better than 109 Pro.
r/HeadphoneAdvice • What might be the best headphones under 1000$ ->I think best bet would probably be ZMF Bokeh they are super easy to drive have a 3.5mm straight to your laptop or even phone with a small dongle if needed. They will eat your $1000 budget through. Or you can get 6xx or 650 with a small dongle all will be under $500.

r/HeadphoneAdvice • What might be the best headphones under 1000$ ->You need to be a bit more specific. Do you need/want ANC? Do you need/want microphones for calls? If not I'd get the Drop 6xx which is just a mass produced Sennheiser HD650. They are comfortable, light (a little too plasticky for me but that allows them to be cheaper and lighter) with very good resolution in the mid-range. Add a subbass low shelf filter by EQ and they are perfect. For ANC, I lean toward the Bose QC Ultra 1 or the B7W Px7s3 for comfort and decent but not great sound.
r/HeadphoneAdvice • Seeking Recommendations for Comfortable Over-Ear Headphones for Long Listening Sessions ->I'm going to say no based on the following selection of headphones that I own: Dynamic: Verite Open, Focal Elegia, Beyerdynamic T5/3rd generation and HD650, Planar: DCA E3, DCA Noire, Hifiman HE1000 Stealth, Audeze LCD-2f. IEMs: FiiO FH7s, Westone Mach 40; earbuds: Galaxy Buds Pro 2, Galaxy Buds Pro 3, Jabra Elite Active 8, Sennheiser True Momentum 4, Bose QC II, Bose QC Ultra and ANC headphones Bose NC700, Bose QC Ultra, Sony XM5 and B&W Px8.
r/headphones • Is this too much? ->In that $ range, I would have to go with the Sennhesier HD6XX or a pair of reburb HD600 off the Sennheiser Outlet Store. FYI: I'm a huge Sennheiser fan just to let you know. I would also have to include the very solid Fiio FT3 in that group. I'm not really a big fan of ribbons yet so I won't even try. I also own a older pair of ATH AD900x and while it's really detailed, it lacks sub bass than modern music needs to have and also can have sibilance on some recordings. If you have a bass boost option, that might not be a problem. I've never heard a pair of the R70x, but I have never seen a bad review on one. \*\*\* As always, headphones are all about personal preferrence, get a demo or a return policy if at all possible.
r/HeadphoneAdvice • What are the best sounding open-back headphones for music listening? <300$ (USA) ->Go to the Sennheiser Outlet website and get a pair of refurbished HD600 for $229 or a pair of HD650 for $279 a pair. Both of those are great enough to be your very last headphone purchase.
r/HeadphoneAdvice • Headphones for music ->The drop HD6xx are a crowd favourite for a reason and only $200. Which Audio Technica are you moving away from though? Been considering moving to the ATH-R70x
r/HeadphoneAdvice • Best entry sennheiser for music? ->The HD6xx I think is the best value in the price range really enjoyable to listen too and very easy on the ears. The R70x, hifiman edition Xs, Sony MDR-MV1 could also be considered depending on what your preferences are and equipment.
r/HeadphoneAdvice • Best entry sennheiser for music? ->A lot of people are loving the Maxwell. I don't have it, but apparently it's a super super high quality, comfortable, Bluetooth planar. Has a swoosh mic too. I'm thinking of getting a pair soon myself. If u really want a wired experience, hd6xx have been treating me really well. I have that, the sundara, and the PC38X and love them all.
r/HeadphoneAdvice • View on Reddit →I have 6xx (which is basically the same). Doubling in comfort (especially with Wicked Cushions)
r/HeadphoneAdvice • View on Reddit →My personal favorite are the openair sennheiser hd650s. I've tried a bunch and settled on these.
r/edmproduction • View on Reddit →I run HD6XX's with an external mic (a modmic turns them into a great headset). I almost exclusively use them for gaming at this point, but they're phenomenal headphones as well. The HD58X's are excellent as well and easier to drive. Both headphones are around $200 on Drop, give or take sales they have going on. I'm sure they'll have something going on for black friday.
r/buildapc • View on Reddit →If you want to maximize comdort and audio clarity my personal favorite are Sennheiser. Sennheiser 650 - highend Sennheiser 560s - midrange Sennheiser 599 - lower midrange Try them out and you'll be very pleasantly suprised.
r/buildapc • View on Reddit →Gonna be honest, the hd 600 can get kinda boring after a while because the mids are the only standout and everything else feels neutral. The 650/6xx are somewhat different with less mids and a more complete overall presentation, but tbh, it's splitting hairs. Those, the R70x, the Aune5000, etc are all just slightly different flavors on the same idea.
r/HeadphoneAdvice • View on Reddit →Checkout Grado. They have open back headphones ranging from ~75 to 300. With each increase in dollar amount the materials get better and so does the sound. The fit is a little strange but you get used to it. I've owned a few pairs and still have the RS2s which I love. These are a great entry into the hifi and open back world. They can be found on Amazon, ebay, crutch field and other audio stores. Checkout Sennheiser HD600 series or the massdrop (Drop) HD6XX. These are also a great hifi starter pair, which I also own. Better fit and the sound is much warmer and listener friendly. Audio Technica is also a great brand to check out.
r/HeadphoneAdvice • View on Reddit →Starting to get the itch for an upgrade. Right now I kind of swap between 6xx, HE-400I, 990 pro, and occasionally a pair of modded T50rp's (I think mrspeakers or something, I need to replace the pads). I mostly game these days but still like to do all kinds of music when I can (limited time these days so when I do have time I go gaming instead of music). I think the answer of "what you have is fine" is acceptable, but just kind of curious if there's been anything more recently that is above this level I'm at now and worth it? Haven't really shopped for headphones in 7-8 years I'd say.
r/headphones • View on Reddit →This. The HD-650 has been an industry standard mixing headphone since the mid 80's.
r/musicproduction • View on Reddit →Best that you can get for your budget is Sennheiser HD6XX for the headphones and JDS Labs Atom 2 amp. That's all you need, and total for everything should be under 300€, even lower if you catch them on sale. Don't settle for anything else.

r/HeadphoneAdvice • View on Reddit →Thanks for this. I've been mulling these over the last few days after seeing reviews go live. I have APP2/3 and HD 6XX. I think I was just looking for something new but I'll stick with the AirPods and some ifi truebass with the 6XX if I need the bass.
r/headphones • View on Reddit →I dont know much about wired headphones, I have an XM5 but it wasnt for me. The ANC is nice, but the sound felt a bit muffled and not as detailed as my open backs. Plus, when it gets hot, closed backs might become ovens for your ears. Often the first headphone to be recommended is the Sennheiser HD6 series, for good reason. The venerable headphone line has remained the standard for a neutral/correct sounding headphone since the release of the 600 back in 1998. If youre looking for more bass, consider the HD6XX. The 6XX is a repainted HD650 as sold by Drop.com for a lower price, around $179 on sale. This is a version of the HD600 tuned for extra bass and less treble, creating a more rich sound. If the 600 is plain tea, the 6XX is more akin to milk tea. This is a vocal focused headphone that does better with male or sustained vocals, making it pretty great for pop or alt rock. On the flipside, because of the less emphasised treble, some songs may sound veiled, as if listening to some instruments through a curtain. For example, the female vocals on ABBA's Dancing Queen sound masked on the 6XX, but sustained male vocals such as on d4vd's Feel It sound godly, like a flood of sound crashing against the inside of your head. That being said, I have tried 600 and 6XX, and I personally prefer the 6XX. The difference to me is quite subtle though. Additonally, the HD6 series headphones have pretty high impedance (resistance) so you may need an amp for these. Not an expensive one though, I use a $30 Fiio KA11 and my desktop volume is set to 18/100. Right now, I'm lusting over the Sony MDR-M1 closed back headphones. They have a more exciting V-shape response that amplifies the impact of EDM tracks rather than vocals. I only tried one for about 30 minutes, but it hits the right spot for me for genres like techno. Basically the complete opposite of the HD6 series headphones. Additonally, the MDR-M1 is easy to power, so you can run it out of anything. A more neutral closed back is the Fiio FT1, but I found that it wasn't much different from the pair of HD560s I was daily driving at the time so I didn't end up getting a pair. I prefer the more wide and clear sound of open backs. I've also heard good things about the AKG K371 and K361, both of which should be more neutral sounding closed back headphones. Going back to open backs, I think the HD560s is the better all rounder than the HD6 series headphones. You sacrifice a bit of sound quality as compared to the HD6 headphones. The 560 driver doesnt sound as resolving, like comparing 720p to 1080p, and the 560 generally sounds more boring. However, you get a wider soundstage and better imaging: basically the instruments feel more 3d and its easier to tell where each instrument is playing from. Additionally, the tuning of the HD560s isn't far off that of the HD600, and when I compare my 6XX to my 560, I feel that my 6XX isn't significantly better, maybe 15% better at most for music. Because of the better 3d sound effect, the 560s is the better headphone for gaming, orchestra, or game OST music. I'll end it by saying that for most music, the 600 series is be better, but the 560s is more versatile, cheaper and easier to power. (I have tried the "improved" HD560s, the HD550, and I felt that it sounded so completely wrong that I couldn't listen to it for more than 1 minute. It sounded very muffled, as if I was underwater.) There are *many* headphones in this price bracket, and I think you should try as many as you can. I only listed the ones I own or left an impression on me.
r/HeadphoneAdvice • View on Reddit →Checked pretty much everything there is on the internet, but most posts are too old now. What I need the most is it to be wireless and preferably have Game/Chat mix. I'm planning to use in only for my PC (for PS5 I have been using Astro A50 gen 4 for 5 years, they are still fine, but I want something new and better + I'm tired to take them from my PC to PS5 every time, so I need one dedicated headset only for my PC). So, out of all headsets here are my picks: - Logitech G Pro X 2 (not sure about the sound, tried them, Cloud 3s sounds better IMO) - Hyper X Cloud 3s (no game/chat mix and 3,5mm unfortunately) - Astor A50X (there is no A50 gen 5 in my country and + I don't want to have 2 almost the same headsets LOL) - Razer BlackShark v3 pro (not a fan of Razer overall, but noise canceling sounds amazing) - Arctis Nova Pro Wireless (heard that it has connection and cracking sound, same as I have on Arctis 7 back in a day) I also had Audeze Maxwell and sold them, unbearably HEAVY, but sounded the best out of all BY FAR. If you have any other recommendations, please, feel free to share. For now I like Cloud 3s the most, probably. But lack of Game/Chat mix and 3,5 jack is what holds me back. I also have HD6xx and I love them, but I hate wires when playing.

r/headphones • View on Reddit →I have sennheiser 650 HD and audio technica ath ad900x. You can't go wrong with either of them. I've had them for years
r/pcmasterrace • View on Reddit →I don't think this is true. If I handed someone a HD650 then handed them a set of Focal Clears I think they'd be able to immediately hear a huge difference in many ways outside detail.
r/headphones • View on Reddit →Waaaay more bass than the 650 is the major one. Similarly smooth mids and highs, but definitely feel like a closed back. Personally I think the bass on the 630s drown out the mids a bit, and while it plays low, it lacks punch/kick. Overall it really does sound great, especially in USB-C wired mode. What is there in the 650's bass is super clean, it just doesn't have a lot. The 630s have significantly more bass and play lower. I haven't spent enough time with the EQ yet to try to improve the bass issue yet. I have a large head and find the 630s uncomfortable, and I can't bend the headband like I did with the 650.
r/headphones • View on Reddit →Yeah totally agree with that, but the turtle beach was insanely bad. I have Sennheiser open backs and while the bass isn't anything to write home about, it's not a noticeable thing.
r/buildapc • View on Reddit →Just was curious mostly, both of them just sound a little dull to me though if I'm honest - although eq helps, but the distortion in the bass from the eq is noticeable on those for me
r/headphones • View on Reddit →Read only this comment. I've experienced exactly this. The issue is music selection. Pick some music you know really well and that you love. Pick some stuff that will highlight certain instruments, or small details in music you love. Then play short passages of that music while switching QUICKLY between headphones. Auditory memory is very weak, so you need to switch very quickly and relisten to the passage you selected. Focus on things like whether the headphones make the "room" in which the music is played changes. Can you "see" the instruments in space in front of you, or does stuff just blend together? How wide is the soundstage the music is coming from, wider is better. Are there any sharpness/sibilance - this is fatiguing. How do female voices sound? How does a male baritone voice sound (Knopfler for me). stuff like that. Finally, make sure the source material is high (LDAC, AAC, etc.). A good headphone will make poor recordings sound... POOR. And, when you are done that, grab and purchase a pair of Sennheiser HD650's and a decent DAC/Amp... ;)
r/headphones • View on Reddit →The 6xx they mention are a different model. Basically HD600 for half the usual price and with a different build so they're pretty much unbeatable for the price.
r/headphones • View on Reddit →HD650 or DT990 if you can afford it, buy both, try them, return the one you don't like if you can't, anyone will do, DT990 is cheaper
r/musicproduction • View on Reddit →I have the HD 6xx and DT1990Pros. If I drop the 6xx, I wouldnt sweat it. If I dropped the 1990s, I would be nervous whether the floor got damaged.
r/pcmasterrace • View on Reddit →Sennheiser themselves say their slightly warmer 650 is far more popular in Western nations while the more neutral 600 is strongly preferred across much of Asia. That's a bit of apparent cultural bias that might help tilt the balance, though I'm plenty happy with my 600s here in Europe. Either way you get their trademark comfort and durability, so it's pretty much a choice between benchmark balanced sound and getting a bit more pleasant warmth at the expense of some mids and especially female vocals.
r/HeadphoneAdvice • View on Reddit →When i listen to edm with the 6xx it has some punch, not as much as my elex and the sub bass roll off with lots of open back headphones or speakers even sound off. Flatten the bass out on the 6xx and it sounds better, but then it sounds a tad to warm to my ears, so maybe that is why.
r/headphones • View on Reddit →Hi how about drop hd6xx, or sen had660s2, if yiu boughr 6xx fit the custom cans bass mod kit and not far off sounding like 660s2. Also can thicker ear pads too . Regards mark
r/sennheiser • View on Reddit →I've had 2 gaming headsets, first it was a Steelseries Siberia, then a Razer Kraken, but then I got to know someone at work who is into sound. He convinced me to buy a HD 650 and by god it was a different tier. It was so comfortable, but 5-6 years ago I've changed it to a HD 800, purely because the same friend sold it to me £500, pretty much half price and he took good care of them too.
r/pcmasterrace • View on Reddit →I've spent way too much money chasing the perfect sound, and after burning through a pile of headphones and IEMs, I think I'm finally there. The headphone path went: Sundara → HD600 → HD650 → Edition XS (good but too sharp and sibilant) → Focal Azurys (Did not get the hype here) → Audeze MM-500 (good but painful clamp). On the IEM side I tried the Kiwi Ears Astral, Moondrop x Crinacle Dusk (didn't understand the here either), Moondrop Hype 4, and DUNU Brain Dance. Brain dance was my favorite until I randomly tried The Campfire Moon Rover, though, which has become my IEM of choice for a reason I'll explain later. For over ears, eventually I gave Dan Clark Audio a shot. First the Noire X, then the Noire X Open... and wow. The Noire X Open is the first headphone I've heard that delivers incredible detail without stabbing me with harsh "s" and "t" sounds. It can be just a touch energetic above 10k, but a simple high-shelf EQ at -3 dB takes care of it instantly. I also like adding a +2 dB bass shelf, which rounds out the sound beautifully. What really surprised me is how perfectly this same EQ profile works on the Campfire Moon Rover as well. It feels like they were made to share it, and having one tuning that works seamlessly between both is a huge win. I've saved the preset on my HiBy R4, so switching back and forth between the XO and the Moon Rover is effortless. So at this point, my perfect setup has become the Moon Rover for IEMs and the Noire X Open. Ironically, the gear I've ended up loving the most has all been from American brands which I didn't expect. I know endgame is a dangerous word in this hobby, but right now this feels like it. Has anyone else had that moment where you put something on and thought... yeah, this is it?

They are not great for all day use though. My ears get sore after an hour of use. For longer meetings I'll use my Sennheiser HD 6XX, FIIO FT1, or Meze 109 Pro depending on my mood.
r/headphones • View on Reddit →There is no best, it's subjective. Though I would generally prefer open-backs over closed backs, especially when you're just using them in your chair and not a noisy environment. "Audiophile grade" is also not a clearly defined term. There are a lot of good options available for under 1000$, I would recommend ordering a few different pairs and comparing them. Like, as far as open-backs are concerned, get a Hifiman Arya, Sennheiser HD 6XX and maybe a Beyerdynamic DT1990 (note that there's two versions, you can get some great deals on the older MK1 but it has a very spicy treble). If you really need/want something closed, your options will be more limited, you could try a Senny HD620 and Beyer DT1770. Personally, I think the AKG K702 (open) for 180 USD is an incredible deal, but some don't like the mid-heavy sound. And there's no doubt there are better headphones to be had for three or four times the price, but they won't really sound three of four times better, and whether it's worth it spending so much is up to you.
r/HeadphoneAdvice • View on Reddit →If you have weird ears then headphones are probably going to be a consistently more enjoyable experience. There are a lot of good options in the $250 range, the Fiio FT1 (closed back) is a really nice choice, as is the Sennheiser+Drop HD6XX (open back) which is essentially a half-price HD650 for the NA market. If your listening environment is quiet I'd say the HD6XX is probably the nicer sound but if you need a budget closed back that rocks the FT1 is pretty great.
r/headphones • View on Reddit →I highly recommend HD6XX at this budget, by far the best you can get for the money
r/edmproduction • View on Reddit →Thanks! Do you have a budget in mind? Sennheiser has a number of comfortable open-backs that are tuned more on the warm side, such as the HD 505 (though I prefer the more neutral HD 550), HD 650, and HD 650. This is probably a good starting point. Comfort on these is pretty good as well (especially the newer models).

r/HeadphoneAdvice • View on Reddit →I've heard HD6XX and HD600, the differences are small. HD600 is a bit more detailed, HD6XX is SLIGHTLY warmer and bigger staging. The HD6XX is just so cheap for the quality, and if I'm looking for an upgrade I want an UPGRADE not a little boost which is what I perceived between the HD6XX and the HD66S2. Diminishing returns hit fast, but HD800S is my favorite headphone I've tried, and I've tried the $5,000 utopias.
r/headphones • View on Reddit →Ive own all 3. All good for spatial sound in games like R6, COD, OW, Marvel Rivals, etc. My personal favorite goes to the 650's but that could be recency bias.
r/buildapc • View on Reddit →Transparency Mode always sounds horrible while listening music or gaming with it. The mic inserted sound is horrific. If you want to hear what's going on around you at home you need two pairs of headphones. One open back headphone for home use (I strongly suggest the Sennheiser HD600,6XX,650 line) and one for use while traveling (I strongly suggest the momentum 4, they have the best sound quality for the best price and the noice canceling is absolutely alright).
