\> What is a good gaming keyboard (wired) to use as a starting base? Do you want a gaming focused board or a custom board?? Because these 2 are very different. If you want a CUSTOM board that can game, get an Evo80/75 for that budget. However, if you wish to buy a "base" - a barebone kit I suppose, then get the TKD Pt.1/75 for 75% or the Neo80 CU for TKL 80% \> Can I use individually purchased switches on any keyboard? As long as they are the same type. Mechanical switches need to go with mechanical/TMR keyboards. Hall effect switches need to go with HE/TMR keyboards. Optical switches need optical keyboards. Low profile switches need low profile keyboards. \> Can I use custom caps on any switch/keyboard? Yes. Keycaps exist for a reason. The only requirement is make sure they are using MX style (having a cross stem) and the set can fully fill that board's layout.
r/keyboards • Diving into custom keyboard world (questions) ->Hey guys! I just bought my boyfriend the Evoworks 80 in the anodized ink color way with HMX azure switches and I am in LOVE with the sound of it and would love to get one for myself! The only thing I'm not thrilled about are the keycaps and would love to change them to an all-black backlit set, preferably PBT with clear lettering to see the RGB more. I was looking at this set: https://mechanicalkeyboards.com/products/vortex-black-backlit-126-key-oem-profile-double-shot-pbt-keycap-set and this set: https://mechanicalkeyboards.com/products/ducky-black-seamless-backlit-108-key-oem-profile-double-shot-pbt-keycap-set Would either of these sets be compatible with the Evoworks 80 considering the Evoworks is a TKL keyboard? Would anyone have any other recommendations that fit what I'm looking for? Are there things I should look for specifically for compatibility? It's my understanding that any MX keycaps are compatible (but I am not sure which brands are). Thank you in advance!

Swapped out keycaps ofc because I like typing on marshmallows haha. https://preview.redd.it/5skjqcw8dk2g1.png?width=1440&format=png&auto=webp&s=ed1195ac4b50b371c4680894a269043f5ccdd283

I'm a diamond 2 nunu otp (League) gamer. I use the evo80 on editing / basic lifestyle vibes but when I'm in my gaming era I gotta use a wired razer keyboard. This is a piece of shit unless ur a casual gamer, forget abt it gangðŸ˜ðŸ¥€ Edit: oh ur fps gamer in that case it should be fine for u. But if u main something like wow or league where high apm and ultra low latency on keyboard is EVERYTHING then wired is the only move https://preview.redd.it/6dtin2tkcfqf1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=21a9effab2f3d853b82d1a68132984b420374cc5
r/keyboards • EVO 80 TKL - Good for gaming? ->Yeah but even if u fix the latency issue its actuation and travel time etc are shit too
r/keyboards • EVO 80 TKL - Good for gaming? ->He's asking what is the BEST / OPTIMAL. There's not a single pro using shitty membrane keyboards or Evo80's for that matter so obviously if ur goal is to optimize for competetive high APM gaming like League/Sc2/WoW don't get this keyboard. Is it good enough for gaming if u dont wanna be optimized? Ppl game on 7 year old laptops and shit so yeah obviously lol
r/keyboards • EVO 80 TKL - Good for gaming? ->keychron, monsgeek, evo80 from qwertykeys used a keychron board for years with hours of general use and gaming
r/MechanicalKeyboards • /r/MechanicalKeyboards Ask ANY Keyboard question, get an answer - August 12, 2025 ->evo80/evo 75 but if you were looking for something with the dedicated macro keys there are not really options like that on the l3 he is really limited to linear switches. there are few tactile switch options because whats the point of adjustable actuation if you cant change where the bump is and i would say it doesn't do much for regular everyday typing. and it really does depend for gaming would you really need it for games if you play like slower paced single player games
r/MechanicalKeyboards • /r/MechanicalKeyboards Ask ANY Keyboard question, get an answer - November 19, 2025 ->not a ton of boards with clicky switches out of the box these days if you would be fine with lego like assembly evo80 and swap out the switches for clicky switches. it is a trimode board that is a tkl
r/MechanicalKeyboards • /r/MechanicalKeyboards Ask ANY Keyboard question, get an answer - November 19, 2025 ->If you want mechanical (usually more satisfying sound, less expensive to customize and more options to do it) - try Evo75, Evo80, Akko/Monsgeek series, Keychron/Lemokey, Womier, similar. Most of them being hot-swappable will allow you try switches with different weights or sound profiles if you don't like or get bored of existing ones. If you play competitive video games at higher ranks - might want to look into HE (Hall Effect) keyboards. They are currently not as customisable and more expensive (switches are expensive, less choice and sometimes depends on the keyboard model), and may not sound as great as a good budget mechanical. Some of the companies listed above also have HE models, there's also more premium offerings, like Hex80. For these items in Europe, check shops like MonacoKeys, Coffeekeys, CandyKeys, KeyGem, MaxGaming, AkkoGear de or eu.
r/keyboards • Gaming keyboard recommendation (Budget: 120 EUR) ->I have an evo80 and think it is great. If I were to have to choose again, and since I already have some keycaps and switches I would use I would probably get a neo80 since it wouldn't make sense to pay for keycaps and switches I wouldn't use. But if you don't plan on switching that stuff out the evo80 makes sense. I got mine from Milktooth.com. Just checked, looked like they have at least a few of the colors in stock and actually have it 5% off and free shipping don't know if we are allowed to give shout outs about specific vendors, but I do think Milktooth is on the list of good vendors, my experience with them has been great.
r/keyboards • Looking for some suggestions on my first mechanical keyboard ->The first thing you'll probably want to decide on is if you need ISO-UK layout (with the big enter key), or the ANSI American layout. If you are fine with an ANSI layout, you definitely have more options. As for gaming, that really depends. If you are really into competitive PvP games, than you might be more interested in something with HE switches. These are magnetic switches instead of mechanical. Personally, I prefer regular mechanical switches. But HE switches are definitely more gaming focused. If you are fine with mechanical switches you might want to check out something like the Evo80. You can get in either ANSI or ISO layout and is generally a really well regarded keyboard. Mechmods has both layout options for sale ([ANSI](https://www.mechmods.co.uk/collections/keyboards/products/evoworks-evo80-keyboard-ansi-layout?variant=46286231699679) and [ISO](https://www.mechmods.co.uk/collections/keyboards/products/evoworks-evo80-keyboard-iso-layout?variant=54937039307130)). I also believe it works both wireless and wired. There are other options out there though, so it really depends on what you are looking for. Like if you really want RGB options, you might want to look at a Nuphy Gem80. But that only has ANSI layouts and I think they are currently sold out of there usually included switches and keycaps. Keychron is also generally well regarded. For the TKL layout there is the Q3 Max. But they have a few different options, including HE keyboards. So you might want to browse their options.
r/MechanicalKeyboardsUK • First Keyboard Help - TKL ->I'm looking to get a nice sounding prebuilt like the evo80 but I'm used to "gaming" and now he switches so 2mm actuation is too high for me. Tl;dr is there a board exactly like the evo80 in basically every way but with switches with 1.5mm or less actuation? Are there any boards under $160 that are tkl or smaller and have a lower front height for a regular profile keyboard (like the evo80, its not a deal breaker if its more like the rainy75 for example but I would prefer it to be lower without being low profile) with switches with 1.5mm or less actuation distance?
r/MechanicalKeyboards • /r/MechanicalKeyboards Ask ANY Keyboard question, get an answer - December 12, 2025 ->Every keyboard I've owned has been between 1.5 and 1mm even before hall effect so I didn't realise it wasn't really a thing on non-gaming keyboards. In which case I'll just get the evo80 since I like everything else about it and see if I can get used to 2mm and if not I'll swap out the switches.
r/MechanicalKeyboards • /r/MechanicalKeyboards Ask ANY Keyboard question, get an answer - December 12, 2025 ->evo80 is probably the best TKL i've come across so far. they're like 10 bucks above your budget if you're willing to spend a little extra.

r/keyboards • View on Reddit →I'm a little late to the party, but reading your post took me back to my own keyboard journey over the past few years. I started with a SteelSeries, then transitioned to a GMMK PRO, moved on to a Varmilo Minilo Pro 98% with Prestige Silent Switches, and now I'm using an Evoworks Evo80 with Oat & Poly. The Varmilo is fantastic-super comfortable and exceptionally quiet, which is great when you need something discreet. But the Evo80 just feels incredible in every way. It has a noticeably more premium build and a superior overall typing experience. If I had to choose, I'd definitely go with the Evo80.

r/keyboards • View on Reddit →This is not true anymore (in my opinion). Keychron definitely has the most layouts and the most international options, but they're not the best, and they're not cheap. QwertyKeys has a wide range of option in their DIY Keyboard kits. Their QK and Neo keyboards are much better than Keychron. Monsgeek is also good. And if you want good prebuilt keyboards, the Rainy75, Bridge75, Crush80, and Evo80 are all fantastic. And if you want a budget keyboard option, check out the Kisnt.
r/keyboards • View on Reddit →Evo80 is the best ready-made. If you want fancier or more expensive than thst, check out AngryMiao or Mode.
r/keyboards • View on Reddit →I really enjoy the evo75 or evo80 keyboards around 170, both are fully pre built and good options with choices of different colors to match your setup. Womier sk75 or something like aula75 are good cheaper pre built options. You also should mention what key layout you'd want since I saw 75 to full sized on your list.
r/keyboards • View on Reddit →Gaming is a loaded term since it sort of implies you want a HE board which massively limits your options. If you are fine with a normal mech keyboard, the neo75 cu is a good kit that you customize to your liking. If you want RGB, a rainy75 or a bridge75 are prob good options. If you are fine with a tkl, the Evo80 is pretty nice out of the box and is very easy to customize.

r/keyboards • View on Reddit →Just got my evo80, and I am blown away. Changed out the PBT for GMK(ABS) and I lowkey regret it, those PBTs were nice and thick.
r/keyboards • View on Reddit →Evo80 have good flex and bright rgb. My favorite pre built keyboard if I'm being honest
r/keyboards • View on Reddit →any mech keyboard with a baseline of 1k polling hertz and low latency on wired and dongle its enough for gaming, hall effects main edge is the actuation points other than that just for what ever interest you the most typing this atm with my evo80 as well as playing a bunch of games using it for several months now
r/keyboards • View on Reddit →still good, its basically the same with all other games, personal reaction time is much better to train rather than rely on equipment, on that note I do play OV2 and i get good results either way if I use my star75 or my evo80
