Hyperx cloud 3 are tuned how I need for shooter games and comfortable to wear all day long. They sound a but different than they should for music, but if you pay attention in game. The right sounds are loud and the booms are subtle

I have HyperX cloud III, and am so in love with it. It's comfortable, works for everything I use headphones for (gaming, work, phone calls) aside from physical activity when I need to bend a lot. Very nice sound, good isolation, doesn't hurt ears even if the earrings are in, can't recommend enough

If it’s only a good headset for overall gaming. Any top five or top 5 YouTube recommendations. But if you focus on footsteps for fps, it’s a hard time finding one. I got pulse 3d, turtle beach 600 gen 2, cloud x 3 and Logitech 300 family. The best one of these for footsteps was the turtle beach, but the microphone is garbage, it keeps getting any background noise, don’t know the gen 3 if they fixed that issue. I updated the firmware but is useless. The second best one of these four options for footsteps for me is the cloud X 3. But for overall gaming any one.

Yes, just need modmic and there’s another adapter for the controller I believe. The issue is modern PC motherboards have very good amps. You won’t get the same filtering and it won’t receive the same amount of power you’d get from a wireless headset using a DAC like this. I mentioned before I didn’t see the Xbox logo. This is still pretty wild for a headset. If I were to choose one wireless headset it would be the hyper X cloud III with stealthz pads. You can get both on sale for under $150. They look weird and bulky, very bad aesthetics but the sound and feel beats any other gaming headset I’ve used. They’re also indestructible with an insane battery life and you can adjust the EQ from your phone but Xbox probably has the app since it’s on the Microsoft store. I’d look up some YouTube videos for it, of course influencers blow out these shorts and reviews for the big 5 peripherals brands. For 600 you could get the s2’s with a modmic. (S2’s are on Black Friday sale for $430) just as mentioned I’m not sure how good they’d be plugged into an Xbox controller or Xbox without an external DAC. The biggest thing you will notice if game audio design is good is the sounds aren’t all mushed together. Everything is very clear and separate if that makes sense. The highs are insane without being tinny like a gaming headset turning treble up or messing with the EQ.

I'm done with "gaming" headsets. They've all been crap. They all need bloatware to adjust EQ and get the most out of them. Logitech is the best software I've seen but their headsets are now terrible quality unfortunately. That being said if you're set on a headset I'd go for hyperx cloud alphas if they fit your head well. (Best buy has a demo rack you can wear for a bit to check). I saw them on Amazon and BB for 140. Look at the Cloud III S if you want a slightly better mic and better drivers with a bit more EQ control. You don't have to download ngenuity but it uses very little system resources if you do and is simple. The DAC's on steel series do nothing for audio clarity or gain until you get to the Nova pros which are $300, (255 for Xbox).

Unlike what everyone says here, if you *really* want a gaming headset with a build in mic that is completely removable take a look at the HyperX Cloud 3 (or the new S version). Usually gaming headsets have a lot of bass and overall poor sound quality. The Cloud 3's on the other hand have a very neutral sound signature. Not that they lack bass, but compared to other "gaming" headsets it's a lot less forward. I think gadgetry tech has a good review about them on YouTube.

After trying a few headsets (steelseries arctis nova 1 and 5, Razer blackshark) and even a wired headphone/mic combo (Sennheiser hd599) but hating the wired part and the mic in front of my face, I settled on a Cloud 3 Wireless. The Cloud 3 has a very neutral sound out of the box, and it takes EQ very well. Also the build quality is insane without getting too heavy, and the battery life of 120 hours is more than I will ever need.

Hmm yes I think I can see what you mean, but I had to turn on discord sounds, I don't use em, so this isn't a problem for me. Should also add, if you are connected to voice in Discord, this won't happen. So need to worry about sitting in a call that's gone silent and having them 'wake up'.

So I’ve had these OG g pros not x for 5 years. Got them when they first came out in 2019 for 100$. Well I really liked them. Prime day deals had them 69$. Ordered them up and the audio is worse? What’s the deal here? I play bf2042 a lot. My original g pros using the dac and dts enabled in windows spatial settings sounded fantastic. I could hear people from all directions fine. Well this new dac for the pro X has it only through g hub. It sounds muffled. The foot steps are literally non existent and all I hear is explosions and gun fire across the map but before had no problem. Fiddled with the eq got it to sound slightly better but it’s not even in the realm of the g pro using the windows setting for dts. I paid for a license years back as I didn’t realize they made just a g pro non x. Wondered for years why I had no surround setting in g hub. Any fix before I return these things? Not trying to spend an arm and leg and feel I just wasted $$ because despite the condition of the 5 year old g pros they work fine and sound great still I just figured it was a good time to buy a backup on sale and was torn on the cloud iii vs these but had good luck with the previous set. G hub was uninstalled and reinstalled the latest version before plugging them in. Also the blue voice…. In 5 years are very competitive gaming. Never once heard someone say I sound weird. Or bad. Or anything. Now using the blue voice everyone says I sound weird and completely different.

I would say a 9. The Maxwell sound better but I was impressed at how good the Hyperx sound. It’s close enough that I’d rather use the HyperX, especially for longer gaming sessions.

Pro X. It sounds way better using equalizer apo. Now they are plenty loud. Sound quality though. I got the cloud iii. And I gotta say. They don’t feel as premium as the pro X but man they are super comfortable and have some good surround or imaging. I think the pro X sounds better generally. But I like the surround better on the cloud iii. Not so muddy I have to turn bass down on the pro X. Both sound very good though using equalizer apo.

I actually think I’m gonna try the cloud iii and return whichever one sounds worse. I see complaints on those but they’re a newer set for the same price. On my OG g pros I can use atmos and all the spatial settings while retaining ghub eq and mic settings. They just don’t have the blue voice which I really don’t care for anyway now after trying it. And no surround option through ghub. I figured they’d be better or atleast the same through g hub but not this LOL in bf2042 people can litterally run on concrete inside a building right next to me and I can’t hear them. That’s an absolute deal breaker for me cause I could hear people across the room on the g pro non x with dts enabled through spatial setting in windows. It’s like they forced you to use ghub with the pro x to have dts and it’s a downgrade now. WHY LOL

Currently using the HyperX Cloud 3 wireless. Find them super comfortable for long sessions and I don't get any ear ache after wearing them for a long time. I don't use the included mic (which is detachable) as I use a stand alone usb mic, so I can't comment on the quality of that. Long battery life, I wear them pretty much every day for at least 2-3 hours and I only need to charge them once per week maybe. USB-A to USB-C Charging cable and a USB-C wireless adapter.

ch720n is fine but if you can stretch budget a bit, get a proper gaming headset, 720s are like a mid‑tier for a reason; you'll feel the difference in positional audio. 90% of us are on something like a HyperX or HyperX Cloud, not a budget Sony.

I have the wireless. And no I have never had such issues. So my room is on the 2nd floor. I had to go downstairs to grab some water & I moved away quite some distance but it was still working. If you move too far, it'll turn off then turn back on automatically when you move back into range. I'd say, 20 feet (approx) is the max range. I love this headset.

If you are looking for a wireless 'gaming' headset, and are used to a more neutral tune, like your Sennys, you have to do some research on which headsets come close to that. Out of the box, most gaming headsets have a weird tune compared to what you're used to, including all Razers. Some more recent notable wireless gaming headsets that sound great from an 'audiophile' standpoint are the Audeze Maxwells, Astro A50X, and Hyper X Cloud 3 S Wireless. Those come out of the box with a great tune, close to the Harman curve. You can also get a lot of other headsets to sound great with some EQ. Something like the Fractal Scape or Nova Elite sound great with a modest EQ. GadgetryTech on YT offers awesome 'audiophile' EQs for a lot of headsets. Also, if you are using a modern gaming headset, make sure you have any corny 'surround sound' or spatial type features turned off. Since you've been using the same set for 16 years, you also have to give some time to adjust to the sound of a new headset. Even something slightly different might sound a bit weird at first if you aren't that experienced with different audio products overall. Many people still totally write off any wireless 'gaming' headsets, and imo that perspective is outdated in 2025. You can get really awesome, low latency audio quality with wireless headsets these days. Yes, for absolute dollar spent, you can get the best 'value' by sticking with a wired setup, but if you value the convenience or features from a wireless setup, you *can* get a great sounding setup if you're willing to do some research and drop the coin.

Yeah that seems to be the general consensus for pc is to get some non gaming headphones. I’m good with that. We’ll see how these other ones sound I’m sure I’ll have to do some tweaking to the eq. I’ve honestly tried everything at this point. Equalizer apo and peace gui. Nothing works except turning off dts completely. I used different drivers using with ghub and without and Think I’m gonna send these back. I got the cloud iii. And while I objectively think the 69.99 for the g pro x is better deal than the same price for the cloud iii. I like the sound and comfort more on the cloud iii. Both great headsets otherwise and the pro X feels more premium but the cloud doesn’t feel cheap by any means it’s metal too. Just much lighter. I even used them plugged directly to motherboard without the dac. The clouds have less bass. But more like middle and treble even trying to match them eq wise they sound different. They sound more full and bright or natural. Where as the g pro x sound like im in a theater or something.

If I switch the actual dac to the older g pro dac I can used spatial audio and still retain the ghub functionality. I think it’s a crap solution though. It shouldn’t be this way. And I use a Logitech mouse and keyboard as well and have for quite some time. If I just used the onboard audio without the dac they sound better too. I’m ordering several headsets. Gonna return which I don’t like and keep one. So far I’ve got the cloud iii and might try the senheiser set for 160. We’ll see what happens.

Comfort is definitely subjective, but the 3's have been the comfiest for me out of all the ones I've tried from hyperx! The earcup part of the headset are angled as well as the drivers inside so my ears never touch any part of the headphones. The clamping force on the sides of your head is very light and the cushion on the headband is very plush c:

I always recommend something from HyperX. The cloud 2 has a more fun sound, while the cloud 3's are more balanced. I also find the 3's to be hands down the best for comfort and their wireless varieties (especially the 3 S) being the best tuned out of the box without eq

I do think they sound better in a way cause the surround sound actually seems better. But not loud enough. But! These things are super super comfortable in comparison to the g pro. Not that the g pro wasn’t. Build quality definitely goes to the g pro though they feel better built. Gonna spend a week using each of these after I get some other things dialed in.

I've had the Hyper Cloud X. The plastic part holding the earphone to the base has broken 2x. The first time they reluctantly replaced the headphones after a month of arguing. The second time they wouldn't. They don't sell the little plastic piece so you have to find a 3d printer to pay for them to be made. Total waste and won't buy their product again.

I just got a pair of these, downloaded the software (non beta version) it updated firmware, no other changes. I tested with volume at 0 for 5 minutes, volume at 20% for 5 minutes etc. There was no sleep mode or delayed wakeup and no pop in with audio. This must be a firmware/driver issue or peoples personal Windows/hardware setup. Can also atest these sound amazing compared to anything wireless in the price range aside from Fractal maybe.
