Steelseries. Although I'd recommend the arctis pro. I've had both headsets and I will never go back to Logitech for anything except my mouse.

Arc Steel Series is another solid option. I have a wireless one I purchased for $100 two years ago and haven't had a single problem. Crisp, clear audio and super comfortable too.

Audeze Maxwell - Considered one of the best wireless gaming headsets. Popular with music creators as well as for gaming. Mic is reasonably good, though can clip a little. Comes with leather earpads, but they can be replaced easily. Drop + EPOS PC38X - One of the best wired gaming headsets for sound clarity and mic quality. Bass reproduction is a bit muted, which is common for older style EPOS / Sennheiser headsets, and common with open back headphones in general. The mic is essentially the best of any consumer headset you can buy. Generally can only be bought directly from Drop's site. Comes with both cloth and velour earpads. [https://drop.com/buy/drop-epos-pc38x-gaming-headset](https://drop.com/buy/drop-epos-pc38x-gaming-headset) Steel Series Arctis headsets are generally a decent middle ground in terms of decent bass and mic quality. The overall audio quality isn't as good as either the Maxwell or PC38X, but they're closed back so their bass response is more like the Maxwell. And the mic quality is generally better than the Maxwell, but no where near as good as the PC38X. Most (maybe all?) use cloth earpads. Nova Pro Wireless and Nova 9 are both quite good, with the Nova 9 being slightly better in terms of audio clarity and mic quality, but the Pro Wireless has better bass and noise cancelling.

Can confirm these are amazing got mine recently and the swappable batteries are a game changer. I had to config my router to run a 5ghz frequency though, the 2.4 (I think) seemed to interfere with the audio especially when downloading sometimes but since the fix I cannot fault them.

These headsets in particular will have plastic that after a couple years of use will dry out and snap for no reason. I just put mine on the head and they snap and my head is quite small on average so tension on my head should be way smaller than other people. When I googled the problem it had happened to a ton of people and ofcourse the warranty was just out so I couldnt get a new pair and they gave me nothing.

I absolutely love my steel series arctis pros. I actually love all my steel series stuff. I'm not nice to my stuff at all I beat the shit out of my peripherals but my steel series stuff keep going strong. My sensei mouse made it 7 years of being spilled on and rage slammed and THE only reason I bought a new one one was because the paint started coming off. It's still in the closet as a back up should the need arise.

For that price they could've at least brought the optical port back. I still use my arctic pros for this sole reason when I watch tv in my room and want it to feel immersive, and also still be connected to my phone. They fumbled that imo

Going from an Arctis Pro to an A50 gen 5 (Not Lightspeed) the price is nearly the same. I can say the Arctis headband & ear cups are worlds more comfortable. Aside from that the A50 pretty much destroys the Arctis headset. Sound quality in both the hears and the mic out of the box is flat out better. My discord mates could hardly tell the difference between my compressor recording mic and the A50 mic. A 3d printed piece allowed me to put the headstrac from my arctis on the A50, The earcups could be better, but it isn't a dealbreaker for me. I worry about the flip up mic joint, but we'll see.

I had them for like a year and swap them again for the arctis pro, the optical sound is way better on my ps5, I just connect the optical to the TV and pass it through the dac Not a bad product, it's just the sound that is inferior imo

I use the wired version of the Arctis Pro and also the Nova Pro, and I'm a huge fan of being able to mix SPDIF, USB and analog line in (I use for mic monitoring on my Elgato Wave 3). I do like the DTS Headphone X over optical because I think it works better than the software spatial audio. I use an ifii SPDIF purifier 2 to reduce any toslink bitter. Lately I've been using the gamedac gen 2 out of convenience since I pay on PC and Xbox and need headset support when I play on Xbox. One thing I love about the Arctis Pro headset is the shareport because it's perfect for adding another source without messing with the noise floor of the DAC and works great for mic monitoring.

Easily the Steel Series Arctis or whatever it's called. Definitely the cheaper one. Hell, I'd go even cheaper. See, the important thing is value. Is the ratio of slightly better sound quality, comfort, style, and design *really* more important than the fact my cat will eat it within 3 months *no matter how expensive or cheap* it is. And do I really want my monthly headset budget to rival an addict's cocaine bill. For the foreseeable 10-15 years, I do not. https://preview.redd.it/h45ixxco1w0g1.png?width=1080&format=png&auto=webp&s=1ebd7524b2d14370a708d60886f429326f133570

By that logic, the $379 Pro's which are inferior to these in both sound signature, microphone & build quality isn't worth the price. But they are rated as probably Top 3 in Gaming headphones. You have to look at it in the entire package. Software + build quality + feature set + sound performance + mic performance. The Pro's are already top 3 in this regard. There are other headphoens slightly cheaper that may deliver certain things better and vice versa. Many brands have better mics, worse sound signature. Some have better sound signature and worse mics. Some can't do crap for software and EQ control. Then you have Audiophile cans that you then need to buy seperate products to take advatange of and then overall can cost more than the gaming headset. Like it or not, sometimes spending a little bit of a premium for convenience and having a good experience in each category makes sense. I don't want 50 things on my desk just to hear 5% better. I don't want a microphone on my desk either, and want it attached to my mic. I also want a wireless headset. I also don't want to spend hours trying to EQ my games and want something that just sounds a bit more immersive out of the box by clicking a button. I also like to keep all of my software not so bloated with 50 different products. I also like higher build quality and decent mics. That's where the Nova Pro's came in, and they are easily top 3 in most categories outside of audiophile specific devices. Enters the Elites which is better than them by a good margin in each of those categories. With your logic, don't ever fly direct on an airplane... how dare you spend more money for convenience!

Yep, huge fan of the arctic nova pros. The mic is good and sound quality is top notch. They have a dac that allows you to adjust things with out needing to go into software. The software offers some great EQ options for any game as well as separation of inputs such as voice and media so you can have your game volume at one level you chat on another and the media on a third. The voice and game mix can be quickly changed on the dac as well. The headset also offers anc and pass through of that matter to him. And it has a side tone control so he an adjust how loud his voice is to himself if he refs to hear himself talk to judge his ow speaking volume.

I have a relatively pricey home theater setup worth around $4-5k and 2 pretty solid gaming headsets (astro a50 and steelseries arctis pro), i lean towards my headsets for gaming any time I'm playing solo for two reasons: 1) I can't crank up my stereo at night with my kids asleep upstairs 2) the 3d audio sounds better on games even if I could. Don't get me wrong, love my surround sound and use my stereo for tv/movies/music on the regular. But if I was asked about stereo options purely gaming, I would invest in a solid pair of wireless headphones, its totally worth the investment. Side note if you are playing with TV speakers only you should look into a soundbar, they're relatively cheap and make a huge difference. TV speakers on the whole are shit.

I suggest the SteelSeries Arctis Pro as they have great sound, with ANC, can connect to Bluetooth and 2 to 2 other sources wirelessly, and the swappable batteries means you pretty much never run out of juice. They just launched an elite version which I can only imagine will sound better.

Steel series arctis pros are fantastic if you don't need to connect to an xbox. I just bought my second and 3rd pair after my first ones finally broke after 6 years. I picked up 2 because These wont be for sale much longer going forward and I wanted to have a backup. I went in expecting to have to spend $250+ so I still saved money XD I saw them recently on amazon for $120, at that price you are getting a $400 headset from 6 years ago that is still in my opinion a top notch product. Hot-swappable batteries Desktop DAC with OLED screen, discord integration and a battery charger A built in, storable mic my friends on discord says sounds better than my blue yeti USB boom mic high quality build design made with aluminum. Good, neutral sound profile that can be tweaked using the Sonar app. All in all, that an impossible package to match for $120

I just ordered the Arctis Nova Pros, what do you mean they hurt your ears? Like the sound or the way they fit on you? Also, I've tried several different headsets over the last year and my OG SteelSeries Arctis Pros have been the best sounding. I've tried several IEMs as well, but they always sound too raspy to me.

I own the Arctis Pro, not the Nova Pro. The OG one price on them now is $150. I've had them for since they were released in 2018, and they are still going strong, and not even once have they ever crap out on me. The headband did loosen, but you can get a replacement on their website for cheap. They use a swappable battery pack that you can charge to continue your activities without a cord holding you down. Edit: these are the swappable batteries look like https://preview.redd.it/wzydoeb1ohuf1.jpeg?width=1320&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7f550aeb4e95884025bf53ddc7a80cead3313149

I agree like the Astros more. The arctis are great for the swappable battery and the sound is by no means bad but the comfort isn't as good as the astros. The ear cups aren't as form fitting and the headband never feels quite right on my head. The astros have the edge in sound quality and are more comfortable to wear. I had to replace the battery on them last year which was a bit of a pain. I think it was around 30$ off amazon and I had to dissasemble the headset and solder the connections, which I managed in an hour with no previous experience. The docking station kind of sucks too but I think its better on newer models. I still use both, I moved my arctis to my pc and use my astros for PS5, don't think you are going wrong with either and the arctis I got on a deep discount for almost half the cost of the Astro set. Haven't looked at pricing in awhile though so I might be off base with that.

I use a Steel Series Arctis Pro, not to get confused with the new Nova Pros, and they are phenomenal. They are around 200 on Amazon but they have a dual battery charger so you can swap batteries when one is low. They are wireless and the mic quality is good. I use to use them for my Ps4 but I have a PS5 now and they still work and set up perfectly. The ear cups wore out after like 4-5 years but they are removable and new ones cost like 20 bucks.

I got the pro's. The hot swappable batteries are nice, sound and mic has always seemed good to me. Two downsides: 1. you'll probably want to buy wicked cushion ear cups. 2. you'll want to get a couple headband straps from amazon, they tend to stretch out after a year or two.

I put them on, and was deeply disappointed at the average sound quality after coming from Astro A50 Gen 5s. Bloated bass, muddy as hell, very small soundstage as the highs seem overly suppressed. Microphone is bang average at best, and the additional weight all of the metal added to the headset made them feel heavy and uncomfortable compared to the Nova 7s that my son uses. Sent straight back to Amazon and sticking with the A50 that I snagged for £200, a third of the cost. Avoid these at all costs. No headset should be £600.

Great read, thanks for the review. I'm not in the market for a new headset as I have the Maxwell and some old Hx Cloud 2s as fallback (unless Maxwell 2 IS coming...), but I have been keen to see some reviews on these from actual real-world users, not just websites who were gifted copies and who all seem to ignore the elephant in the room (price) and yet still slap 'editors choice' left and right so as not to be blacklisted from the next review opportunity. I had some of the Steelseries Pros (wired) in the model before the Nova Pro, and I did really like them on multiple fronts, so still keen to hear about their products. These Nova 'Elite' though are just a step to far with absolutely obnoxious pricing. What I'm getting from reviews I'm reading is: \- SQ is great, but not TOO dissimilar to the Nova Pro (already great) \- Microphone is not a huge step up, but still a bit better. \- The multi-device connection point is great - if your use case really relies on you to have so many devices connected. \- Wireless 'Certified HD Audio' is a nice feather in the cap for sure - but incredibly limited in terms of what content is actually output at that bitrate in an accessible manner. What I'm not getting from any single review that I've read is anything even remotely close to a justification on the price. If I were to look at the Nova Pros vs Elites on paper in a comparison list, I would expect the Elite to be more expensive, maybe £100-£120 more expensive based on the marketing aspect that the 'elites' are just a bit better/more feature rich, at which point I'd maybe say fair enough. They seem to have created and priced these in such a way that they are actively just targeting wealthy folk to ultimately take the piss out of them, and a quick look at their social media posts also kind of feels like that too.

All these people mad that you bought an actual decept pair of headphones. Are there better out there, for better cost/performance. Yes, sure. And people buy NVIDA or AMD and fans based on aesthetics, and brand loyalty. They buy a certain vehicle, when there is a more fuel efficient car. Take a different airline because of how comfortable they may be for a few to several hours. Rather door dash vs pick up, because it's time vrs money. These are still one of the best 'gaming' headphones on the market, regardless of price. Do they have the audio quality? No. Do they have the build quality? Yes. We all have seen other headphoens from audiophiles that aren't worth the price, or well worth the price. The fact is, the dude says they're way better than his Pro's, and the Pro's are already costly. If they're better than that, then it's somewhat warranted just from the sound signature, let alone the build quality. So many jealous people here.

u/Lawdemon28 Does he have a mic already and just wants a headset? Or does he want the headset to include a mic? Assuming it's the latter, Arctis Pro is a good one, albeit expensive. Here is a good link to help you: [https://www.rtings.com/headphones/reviews/best/by-usage/gaming](https://www.rtings.com/headphones/reviews/best/by-usage/gaming) Assuming its the former, get him some solid IEMs (In Ear Monitors). They are really good and can be cost effective, some of them come with a mic as well. You can always get him a fairly costed regular mic along with them. Really just depends what he/you are looking for. But the safe option is definitely Arctis Pro
