I also wear the Oura ring (gen 4, on right ring finger). Mine seems fine, I don’t bring my phone on the bench though so it’s all in device tracked and I know that can cause some gaps in tracking but it seems to get everything pretty well
r/hockeyplayers • Fitness trackers? ->Smh one time I saw someone with an apple watch, a whoop, and an oura at the same time so you're good Eta I saw another commenter say that they had this and all I gotta say is you better do a writeup with your recommendations
r/whoop • How many wearables is too many?! ->If you had to recommend one to someone who mostly uses their whoop for sleep but does like the daily strain and stress monitor and also lifts often, which would it be?? I've had whoop for so long but i'm curious about oura! I just worry that I would take it off for so many activities that I wouldnt be able to go back and compare my days as well.
r/whoop • How many wearables is too many?! ->I have both. Often, it appears the readings are for different people. Oura has me awake when I am asleep and asleep when I am awake. My sleep metrics seem more accurate with Oura aside from deep sleep which can be 14 minutes on Oura and an hour on Apple. My HRV has always been very low, even though I seem to be very fit and healthy. Oura’s average is 29 and Apple 20. Apple is far more efficient at determining lowest RHR at night.
r/ouraring • Switch from Apple Watch? ->it’s literally so bad, when i’m doing HIIT workouts/completely out of breath/can’t speak it always says I either spent a majority of the time in zone zero (which is supposedly “at rest or moving very slowly”!!) or it “fails to detect HR data” even though i click record workout. and i have gen 4! i put in a support request a few times and they are supposed to send a free replacement but i feel like it’s just an inherent issue
r/ouraring • Has anyone noticed how bad the Oura Ring is at workouts compared to the Apple Watch? ->exactly feel the same way here. I replaced my apple watch with an Oura, but then when I became more serious about running, I grabbed a Garmin. I wanted to disconnect from my need of seeing my messages all the time, but track my workouts and my sleep. I only track my sleep from my ring and my watch is specific for running.
r/ouraring • Switch from Apple Watch? ->there are third party data analysis options available. and yes, i agree, if you're a serious athlete, it's where AW falls short. actually, if you do lifting or climbing or, hell, even rowing, the oura is uncomfortable - and in some cases, actively dangerous (you sure as hell should not climb with a ring on)
r/whoop • My HONEST review of the 5 MG. ->I use both. I feel my Apple Watch is more accurate with HR, steps, workouts. My ring is for sleep and stress.
r/ouraring • Switch from Apple Watch? ->Oura also fucked people over even worse, which is one reason I went with the Whoop - Oura was "pay for the hardware, the app is free" and then moved to paid hardware and a paid subscription and bricked the devices of everyone who didn't want to pay for a subscription. Other reason I went with the Whoop is I lift weights and didn't want to scratch up my ring during training.
r/whoop • This MG thing feels like such a slap in the face as a user for the last 4 years. ->I got rid of my Apple Watch earlier this year and only wear the Oura ring. I like not being distracted by a small screen on my wrist, not to mention how ugly it looks. I mostly use the Oura ring data for sleep and readiness. Since I lift weights, I use scosche for my workouts. But I just ordered the AirPods Pro 3 which also has heart rate workout tracking, so that might replace the scosche. Overall, I am completely happy to not have an Apple Watch.
r/ouraring • Switch from Apple Watch? ->Oura ring is the best on the market right now. But this is a ring, not a smartwatch. For smartwatch go for Polar
r/BuyFromEU • Any fitness tracker recommendations from europe? ->I actually pre-ordered, but now had second thoughts and am trying to cancel my order. I have used Oura to track my sleep, recovery etc. and other products to track my training. I dont like the subscription model of Oura, and the fact that i cant wear the ring in the gym. But I think otherwise Im pretty happy with Oura, and do not need another device to track my activity, sleep etc.
r/Polarfitness • View on Reddit →Apple Watch for fitness, Oura ring for sleep. Oura isn’t a great fitness tracker and Apple isn’t a good sleep tracker.
r/PetiteFitness • View on Reddit →Oura ring is what I use and then I can wear all of my traditional watches.
r/Watches • View on Reddit →I absolutely love mine. If it broke today I’d buy another one and have it en route before I went to sleep tonight. I will say it’s not for everyone, definitely read through some complaints some people have on this sub. For example, everyone will tell you to get the silver because it hides scratches the best, and then you’ll see many complaints from people who did not get the silver and regret it haha ETA-my HSA paid for it so that was great

I haven't looked at the calc methods yet, but I'm currently trialling Whoop and Oura with my Polar Pacer Pro. I only have 7 days of data so far, as you can see, correlation is high but Polar HRV is always 10-20ms higher. A late, but sober night on day 2. Alcohol on day 5 and a little bit on day 6... I'm primarily doing this for sleep data, but when my legs aren't playing up I run, hence the Polar device.
r/whoop • View on Reddit →I'm not really into watches and don't do much lifting, I'm really liking the health tracking ring form factor and the apps readiness levels and sleep scores are pretty helpful. I wore a, fungible wedding ring anyway, and just swapped it for this oura ring, so physically it's pretty indistinguishable from what I was wearing anyway. That said if it was not basically free I would not buy an oura ring to then pay the subscription fee; reinforced even more after getting to try it. But I think I might pay for a year or two of subscription and just consider that a discounted fitness ring. It sounds like most of your complaints are actually with the form factor of the ring itself. But one can trade a gen 3 oura ring to Samsung for $100 off a Galaxy ring with no subscription if the issues were with the app experience/subscription. https://www.samsung.com/us/rings/galaxy-ring/buy/galaxy-ring-titanium-silver-sm-q50xnzsaxar/
r/AmexPlatinum • View on Reddit →Not trying to troll but genuinely curious as to why not go for an Oura ring? That’s what I replaced my AW with and I find it much less intrusive with sleep tracking that anything on my wrist!
r/whoop • View on Reddit →I just got one a month ago and it is a game changer in getting me back on my fitness journey postpartum and has kept me motivated. I previously was a fitbit wearer and loved it, just hated the look but was obsessed with meeting my step count and tracking everything else. With the demise of fitbit now that Google is phasing it out I attempted an Apple Watch and just never could get into it. I lurked in the Oura subreddit for a while to get a feel for what people were saying and the interface and took the plunge last month. I love the layout of the app and all the way it presents my data to me. It’s very spot on and they offer iPhone widgets so my steps are right on my lock Screen so I have easy access to the data I want. Price is steep but I have zero regrets. One thing to note, from what I gather the people that love Apple Watch hate Oura rings. Considering I hated my Apple Watch and love my ring, it tracks.
r/PetiteFitness • View on Reddit →I looked at the other rings and I didn’t like them because they had bad reviews. From everything I read and the research I did the Oura ring was the best. Second best was Samsung ring but I am an Apple person so it didn’t make sense. I am really hopeful that Apple will come out with one that doesn’t need a subscription. I researched for almost a year.
r/ouraring • View on Reddit →Why on earth did someone buy a used gen 3 oura ring on FB for the price of a new gen 3 oura ring from the manufacturer?😅
r/AmexPlatinum • View on Reddit →I’ve had mine for a little over a month or so, I think it’s comfortable to wear and tracks okay. I haven’t had any issues with it not tracking correctly with sleep but I work out and don’t think it tracks calories burned or activity in that sense super well. I do intense Pilates session and it usually only says like 100-130 calories are burned when google estimates a Pilates work out should be something like 200-300. I don’t track my calories so it’s not a huge deal to me but for others it might be. I’ve also noticed that when I’m stressed or maybe my heart rate is a bit up (anxiety) instead of showing as stress it’ll show as an activity. I have the gold and it still looks really nice but I do wear a silicone cover for work outs and when I’m at work, I work in a restaurant and worry about chipping with beer bottles and such. I find it really comfortable though and I hate watches so this is a better alternative but I do think it needs a little work. Also Amex sometimes does money back on oura rings so if you have one definitely check it before purchasing. Edit- I think over time it’ll track all my things better but I think it’s good to know these things. I’ve also seen on here that if you work night shifts and stuff it’ll not track it an activity.
r/ouraring • View on Reddit →I genuinely don't understand why people think Oura is ONLY a sleep aid/tracker. It's not. The health data I get from Oura (daily stress, HRV/heart rate, body temp, sleep) is incredible and has even helped me adjust some of my lifestyle habits (including activity). You will still need a dedicated activity tracker like an Apple Watch or Garmin for workouts, but if you like data, you'll love Oura. Two big caveats: 1. As another comment mentioned, Oura has a sketchy data sharing agreement with the US gov. Especially for women, that might be more of a concern. 2. If you suffer from even a bit of anxiety or health anxiety, sometimes the ring can make you feel more obsessive. Occasionally, I won't recharge my ring for a bit when it dies if I find that looking at the data has been impacting my mental state negatively instead of positively.
r/XXRunning • View on Reddit →Hi I do this. I still wear the ring with a silicone band but track my work outs with the watch. I think it works well and had the same feelings about wearing the watch as you. I no longer pay attention to my rings and instead just try to keep my activity score 90+
r/ouraring • View on Reddit →I've been using my Oura Ring for about two months now and wanted to share my thoughts so far for anyone researching or those of you with advice for my problems! For context, I'm 26 y/o male who lives a pretty active lifestyle. My primary exercise is road cycling, with some strength training mixed in. My main motivation in getting the Oura was for sleep tracking, but I also wanted a fitness tracker that allowed me to still wear a regular watch. I've tried out Garmin, Whoop, and Apple Watches in the past. Here's my honest review: The Good: \- The sleep tracking is awesome. I had some concerns that I had sleep apnea due to a family history, and this allowed me to see metrics that put my mind at ease. I love checking out the sleep data each morning! \- Battery life is excellent. I'm charging every 4-6 days. \- User experience on the app is pretty good. Way better than Garmin, but not as good as Whoop - (the Whoop band always looked ridiculous to me) \- The resilience metrics are really cool. I haven't gotten sick since I got the ring, but my wife's is pretty accurate for recognizing when she's getting sick. The Bad: \- The ring scratches pretty easily. I even bought silicone covers to wear when weight lifting, but my silver ring looks very scratched after just two months. I'm just embracing it haha! \- I don't understand how the tags are supposed to be insightful. I've tried to be diligent with entering activities and when I drink coffee but am yet to learn anything from it all. They just launched this AI chatbot thing which doesn't seem to be very helpful. I would be interested to hear other people's thoughts on this. \- I don't think that it tracks stress accurately. I recently went through a week of having panic attacks off an on, but my ring would rarely label those times as stress. The Ugly: \- Okay here we go... I would discourage anyone who is a cyclist from getting an Oura Ring. I am yet to find any reliable way to accurately capture my bike rides in my Oura Ring data. I have it linked to Strava, but it cannot import any heart rate data for the ride. Also, the heart rate dashboard won't even give me an activity label for my Strava ride even when it's been imported. The majority of times I ride, the ring isn't even able to capture my heart rate, it just says "no data" for the time I rode. I messaged support about this, and all they could recommend is that I wear gloves so that the ring doesn't move around as much. No luck. \- The step counting is completely all over the place. When I first got the ring, it seemed to give me a step "equivalent" for my bike rides. Lately, it gives me virtually no steps for my ride. Obviously, when you are riding a bike you aren't taking steps, but they have to be able to think of some way to make an equivalent. \- Overall, I just don't really trust the activity data. I think that the Oura Ring is best labeled as a "wellness tracker" and shouldn't be considered by people that are more interested in tracking activities. If that's you, consider the Whoop or Garmin. Conclusion: I like my Oura Ring for the insights it gives me regarding sleep. However, If I had known that it would be so unreliable in tracking my cycling I probably would have gone back to Garmin. Would love to hear about other people's experience!

r/whoop • View on Reddit →Me too! I have nice watches, and I hate the look of fitness trackers/Apple watches outside the gym. I've really enjoyed the ring. I wear it when I weight lift. It fits under the padded circle for that finger on my weightlifting gloves. I pretty much only take it off in the shower - I do wear it in the pool. After 7 months, there are no scratches/dents. Still looks great.
r/PetiteFitness • View on Reddit →I have heavy black full sleeves both arms and I've found none that work. I have a Garmin Fenix 7 that's essentially just a watch now since I had my sleeves done last year. I have an Oura ring which isn't much for fitness and it's all beat up just in a few months or wearing doing yard work and I'll ditch it once my annual sub is finished. I've heard the newest Whoop might work, thinking about trying it but it's nearly $30/mo which is significant and I'm not sure I'm ready to stop wearing a watch.
r/tattooadvice • View on Reddit →I dropped the Apple Watch and picked up an Oura Ring. Best move ever! I love having the fitness, sleep and heart rate data. But I hated having the constant notifications when I was trying to concentrate or in a meeting with someone. It was too distracting and disrespectful to others. Now all of that is gone and I still get the data and only have to charge it every 5 days or so. And, I get to wear sweet watches that actually look good. Don’t think twice. Ditch the Apple Watch, get an Oura ring and a nice analog Swiss watch.
r/Watches • View on Reddit →I’ve only mine for about 6 weeks so I’m still waiting for the cycle tracking to take effect, which was a big reason for me personally, but I’m still getting heaps out of it aside from that. I was so pleasantly surprised at how good my sleep and heart health were. My stress less so, that was hard to see, it was a rude awakening to realise how much I ignore and dismiss all those cues in my body. So I’m meditating more and taking the need to make adjustments to my day to day life way more seriously. It’s also pretty hard to drink even a couple wines once you see how much it affects you. That’s grim. I find it funny someone commented about people wearing them for social status. The ring is ugly. My closest friend teases me about it. My partner hates it (when he asks “if I slept okay” he adds that he’s asking me and not the ring).
r/ouraring • View on Reddit →I’ll wear my Apple Watch at the gym for the metric tracking but I also got an Oura ring to wear to track steps/ sleep etc and wear a traditional watch. But I love my Apple Watch Ultra as well so I will wear it out sometimes too depending on what I’m doing/ mood/ outfit/ activity
r/Watches • View on Reddit →Very good when it works. Very frustrating when it doesn't. I wanted to wear mechanical watches that's why I opted for a ring tracker. Worked very well the first few weeks. It tracked everything and gave me very good insights about my health but I am now experiencing connection issues. I tried all their troubleshooting steps and still nothing. My ring has not connected to the app for 3 days now and support has been a nightmare as well. No response. Take that as you will, your milage may vary.
r/ouraring • View on Reddit →I just got my ring a week ago and I really like it. I have an apple ultra watch, but I don’t wear it all the time as I also have a mechanical watches that I like wearing… but I could never accurately count any metrics because I was always intermittently wearing the watch so the metrics never really meant much to me. So far, it’s been pretty cool knowing I will have consistent sleep metrics as a guide while wearing the ring which is something I didn’t have with the watch. It all depends on what you want out of a device. For any sort of work out or physical fitness tracking/ gps use etc Apple Watch is way, way better than the ring. However, I think the sleep metrics are amazing on the ordering and is the main reason I purchased it.
r/ouraring • View on Reddit →I’ve gone both ways with this and back with AWU and Oura. Whoop has a beautiful UI but is largely inaccurate on HR reading for me. So that throws everything else off. I’ve tested Whoop and AWU against the gold standard HR chest strap and the AWU is insanely accurate for me on my wrist. Whoop, not so much. Really wanted Whoop to work too. I’ve tested this over and over. Data nerd.
r/whoop • View on Reddit →This is exactly what I use it for. I workout 4-5 days a week, use Function health for bloodwork, and Oura for daily baseline of readiness. It’s been a solid system for me and it’s the least intrusive form factor of all tracking devices.
r/ouraring • View on Reddit →I wear both my Garmin Fenix 7S and Oura 4 24/7, but I only track runs with the Garmin and only care about the sleep/cycle/wellness metrics from my Oura. They each serve their purpose, and I like having both of them.
r/XXRunning • View on Reddit →It’s really the whole scoring system I pay attention to. Not just sleep. I use it to adjust habits. - I’ve reduced drinking to only a few times a month. - I have added magnesium before bed for deeper sleep - I move rest days around if I need to if readiness is low - I add in extra cardio if the activity goal suggest more movement It’s just a general baseline I use to gauge my habits day to day. I can’t say it’s better than anything else. It’s just a convenient form factor and easy to understand app. My biggest recommendation is to not over think it. It’s just a tool that creates a baseline. What matters is what you want to do with that information
r/ouraring • View on Reddit →The Apple Watch has way better heart rate sensor. Have compared both to a belt, and the Oura is way off during exercising.
r/ouraring • View on Reddit →THIS! I talked it over with my personal trainer and Apple Watches grossly overestimate caloric burn. My strength training workouts on my AW were burning 250-300 for 45 minutes (no cardio) and my Oura is in the 150-200 end. According to my trainer, the 150-200 is more accurate 🤷🏽♀️
r/ouraring • View on Reddit →I mostly play volleyball and lift. Garmin bulky and messing with passing during volleyball Oura used to fall off during volleyball and very uncomfortable during lifting Whoop with biceps attachment fixed all those issues for me
r/whoop • View on Reddit →I use Oura, Apple Watch AND Whoop. They all complement each other and I like to cross check stuff. Apple Watch I never sleep with. I use Strain on Whoop and trust Oura more for sleep…
r/ouraring • View on Reddit →I LOVE my Oura ring!! It has transformed my sleep and has helped me with my steps everyday (I am now getting 12-15k a day). I have the new one and I’ve never had an issue with the battery like a lot of people have. My only regret was the color choice!
r/PetiteFitness • View on Reddit →I'll say this in addition to my other comment... I'm probably not going to replace mine when this one bricks in the next year.
r/ouraring • View on Reddit →The whoop subscription is so expensive, that was what sold me on the Oura. I’ve had my Oura 4 for eight months and love it so much.
r/ouraring • View on Reddit →I got the ring because I've the smart watches weren't for me. And this just worked perfectly especially since I didn't want to spend 200+ for it. I recommend wear gloves, hand wraps. I've been able to taking boxing and classes and HIIT classes without a problem. I switch between wearing it on my index and middle finger.
r/AmexPlatinum • View on Reddit →If you already wear an Apple watch, I don't really see the point. I use Oura because I don't like wearing watches.
r/ouraring • View on Reddit →Oura ring has one of the best sleep tracking.
r/Garmin • View on Reddit →I'll give it a 7/10 Had to fight to get my warranty replacement because I wasn't there original owner Data no longer is syncing between Strava and Oura apps It's good to learn what you're baseline is but if you're a data geek maybe look at something else.
