I don´t think there´s a proper smartwach for CrossFit, mostly because it´s irrelevant (some ppl already commented on that). But for everything else: Coros Pace 3. Best quality price deal, does everything a garmin can do, and you´ll save some money.

Garmin and Coros are the top of the industry for heart rate and fitness watches. Frankly Apple Watches aren't even comparable. That being said there has been some research that shows heart rate wrist monitors on these watches aren't accurate all the time. The new ones with the latest technology seem to be pretty damn accurate in my experience. If you're interested in heart rate training I highly suggest a garmin or coros and then pair it with a chest monitor. You can get a chest monitor and pair it to your watch for like $75-150 bucks but like the watch it should last years. Smart watches are not BIFL IMO

I've really been enjoying the Coros Pace 3. Had it for almost a year. The only thing I really track though is my runs. It's really good value for the features it has but also has a super simple interface.

I use Form Goggles or a Coros pace watch. The Coros track well and can do structured workouts. And having access to my distance, pace, heart rate, and workout time available is really cool

For me I use Training Peaks for collecting all my data. I have a coros pace watch for tracking strength workouts, running, and open water swims. I have a garmin for riding the bike out side. On the bike I have a garmin cadence and speed attachments. And for my peddles I have polar power meters. A Tac X Neo for training on the bike inside. Form goggles for tracking my pool swims. For structuring workouts I use Training peaks for a ATP (year plan). TrainerRoad for bike workouts, Form goggles for swimming workouts. And for the strength and running I enter them into the coros watch app. I've gotten the gear over time. If I had to start from scratch I would just use my Coros Pace 3 to track everything and pick up one thing at a time as I got the funds.

So if you are mostly doing gym and park workouts a Forerunner 165/265, a Suunto Run or a Coros Pace 3 would likely fit your needs. Suunto automatically calculates your speed vs other times on the same route to see if you are faster or slower much like Strava premium except that it's free. The Pace 3 and Suunto Run will let you put MP3s on them if you like to listen to music. For Garmins you would have to make sure you have a music model to do that and Garmin has Spotify. The Pace 3 and Suunto Run are really light at about 30g and 36g and the Forerunner 165 is 39g. The watches are about Forerunner is 43mm while the pace 3 is 41.9 while the Suunto Run is technically 46mm but looks the same as the Race S which is 45mm (but weighs a lot more at 60g and 53g depending on model).

I've had and loved garmin forerunners and a coros pace. Slight preference for coros over garmin for battery life. Slight preference for garmin for multi-app interoperability. I'm actually planning to buy an Apple Watch because it's fine as a fitness tracker and has better health tracking capabilities on top of the fitness stuff.

I've just moved from a Pace 3 to a Nomad and, honestly, they're cracking pieces of kit. I've not had any issues with them since moving to Coros watches in February. For trails I would lean towards at least the Pace Pro or the Nomad/Apex 4 (they're basically the same) simply due to offline maps. Either way, Coros or Garmin, there's a device that meets your needs at a price you are willing to pay.

Coros Pace 3. It's an excellent general sports watch that includes modes for lap swimming, open water swimming, and just about any other activity you can think of. They're priced better than comparable garmins, with a big emphasis on weight and battery life. [https://us.coros.com/pace3](https://us.coros.com/pace3)

Used to run with a Garmin years ago (vivoactive something), then an Apple Watch (got a good deal through Verizon), and now with a Coros Pace 3. The only downside of the AW is the battery life (unless you get the super expensive ones). That being said, I was still able to run a slow-ish (4:45) marathon with my AW. If you set specific battery usage settings, it's not an issue. Obvisouly, you're not gonna run an ultra for 18 hours lmao I'm happy I switched to the Coros because 1. the run "face" shows more data than what the AW was showing when I was running with the Strava app on the AW, but tbh it's a bit on me as I think the Apple app shows more stuff + you could use any third party app if you want to see a lot of live stats. 2. I only use the Coros for running (or biking), and don't wear it otherwise (I either wear an automatic or a quartz or nothing). The constant notifications on the AW were too distracting, I feel more zen now. You could wear the Coros (or Garmin) all the time, but none of those sports watches are very pretty tbh.

The pace 3 is literally cheaper than the forerunner 165, and to my knowledge is the cheapest option before you get to glorified pedometers which happen to show the time. If $200 is too much for you, you probably just can't afford a gps watch at least not without looking to the second hand market (which just isn't great).

I went with the Coros Pace 3. I was eyeballing a Garmin but didn't want to spend that much money on something I wasn't sure I'd use. Fast foreword a little over a year later and I love my Pace 3. Thinking about upgrading to the pro. As others stated the dual band GPS and long battery life is what sold me. I wear my Coros 6-7 days a week for workouts and even sleep with it on, usually charge it every 2 weeks. I've also added their arm band heart rate monitor. I had a chest strap, but never felt comfortable wearing it.

I am currently hiking the pacific crest trail and tracking my entire hike. I've been using a coros pace 3 which is probably the best value gps watch out there but almost any coros or garmin or similar watch would work well. I do have to charge it each night if I track for the entire day but it charges quickly and uses very little of my battery bank
