Probably the PodMic, purely from the RODE Connect support, which essentially gives you the same DSP processing features and more as the RODECaster products. But both are solid mics. *Disclaimer: I'm Head of Podcaster Support & Experience at Captivate*
r/podcasting • Rode Podmic USB or Shure MV7+ ->Sounds like a way to get going. Just bear in mind, if you haven't bought it yet - the SM7B is quite an expensive mic. You could instead go for a cheaper MV7X or RODE Podmic (both good, dynamic XLR mics) and balance out some of that cost going into the Rodecaster Pro/Duo. The SM7B is overkill for your setup, and the audio interface sounds like the more important bit than the mic. Don't want you dropping €1k just so you can work and play!
r/podcasting • Looking for advice on proper mic setup for dual PC use (work + streaming/gaming) ->I'll be that guy. If there are two of you you should both be using dynamic not condenser mics. Is your room treated? Do you have a decent audio interface? (RODEcaster Duo is top of the line IMO) As for mics. At my station I use an EV-RE20. By far the gold standard for broadcasting. After that the Sure SMB7 after that you can get away with the rode Podmic provided your room is sound treated and you have an interface like I mentioned above (focusrite is also good) Don't go cheap on the interface or mic. Sound matters
r/podcasting • Podcast mic recommendations ->Not a professional by any means but I've been using the Rode PodMic for a hot minute. Sits right at the $100 mic and sounds pretty damn good. Doesn't come with an arm/stand but I've been using a generic boom arm. Easy enough to set up and tweak to get good sound, so that's my two cents.
r/streaming • Best streaming mic for under $100 in 2025? ->I used it for my streams back when I was more active and have dedicated it to being my daily use mic and it's very reliable. Hope it's what you're looking for :)
r/streaming • Best streaming mic for under $100 in 2025? ->Rode gear is awesome. I like the podmics and their customer service is amazing (at least it is if you're in Aus).
r/podcasting • Which wins best podcasting mic for you? ->Don't get a condenser. Dynamic mics are far better for spoken word and untreated audio environments. Fine 688, Rhode podmic, shure MV7 are a few of my recommendations. Blue yeti, quadcast all that should be avoided.
r/Twitch • Best budget mic for streaming? ->Depends on your setup. For USB: Blue Yeti or Audio-Technica ATR2100x. For XLR: Shure SM58 or Rode PodMic. I us an ATR2100x with Podcastle AI for podcast editing - . Unless you're doing in-person interviews regularly, start with USB and upgrade later if needed .
r/podcasting • Best mics for a podcast? -># Gear Setup * **Cameras**: Canon EOS M50 or Sony ZV-E10 for individual shots; Logitech C920 for budget-friendly options. * **Mics**: Shure MV7 or Rode PodMic with an audio interface like Focusrite Scarlett 4i4. * **Lighting**: Softbox kits or ring lights for even lighting. * **Recording Software**: OBS Studio (free) for video and audio capture. # Editing Software * **DaVinci Resolve** (free): Great for video/audio editing. * **Adobe Premiere Pro**: Flexible and powerful. Set up a wide shot and individual close-ups, and record a screen for visual displays. If you need help editing to make your podcast look sharp and professional, we've got you covered. Good luck! 🎥🎙ï¸
r/podcasting • Help, video podcast for 3 hosts and occasional guests ->i had the hyper x for a bit and it shit out within 2 years of having it. even after changing cords the input is choppy or gets fuzzy and their customer service sucks. i reccomend going xlr route (i got the rode podmic recently and it sounds much better but havent had it long enough to say how it lasts over time)
r/Twitch • New streaming mic? Would appreciate some assistance from the more well-informed! ->And don't try to save money by buying any "open box" or refurbished. Those are all used by some teen wanna-be influencer who broke it, lost the accessories, and returned it. 3 failures out of 3 (Podmic USB) and finally just ordered directly from Rode. But the USB version is a bit out of OP's price range. The XLR-only isn't, though, if he has a preamp.
r/podcasting • What's a good out-of-the-box dynamic podcasting mic sub-$150? ->Do not get the Quadcast. They're not worth the money. With $150 you could get a Rode Podmic, Audio Technica AT2040, or if you really want a condenser mic the AT2020. But I would highly suggest NOT getting a condenser mic. If you want a good budget mic, the Fifine AM8 is a great option at around $50 and has both USB and XLR. So if you decide to get an audio interface later, you won't have to also get a new mic. If you're hard set on a condenser mic though, the AT2020 is a highly respected budget condenser mic AND has a USB version for under $150 if I'm remembering correctly. I personally have the AT2040, and while it's not the best out of the box, it pairs well enough with my voice and sounds fine with EQ. The downside to the Podmic and AT2040 is that they're both XLR. They have USB versions but they're a little more expensive. Don't let anyone force you down the road of getting an interface + mic if you think a USB mic would work for your situation.
r/streaming • View on Reddit →Well if you are going to be recording two people in person and no more in person, you will need an audio interface with at least two XLR inputs. The Focusrite Vocaster Two is a good get, and currently you can get a refurbished one for about $95. If you want to spend a little, or a lot, more, there is always a Rodecaster Pro II or Rodecaster Duo. As far as XLR mics, I use a couple of Samson Q2U (they do both XLR and USB), but you might want Sure SM58 if you want a good mic on a budget. If you can get stands or boom arms, the Rode Podmic tends to be a solid get for about $100 a mic.
r/podcasting • View on Reddit →This is what I did and it works! Phone is a Samsung Galaxy s24 Ultra Starting with the power: PD 128W charging block. To chubby cable 4 foot (usb c to c) (ASIN B0CRB6CB3Z). Please note that power from your charging block goes into the PD port of the SmallRig interface or the system wont charge or provide power to the mic. The microphone concoction starts with a SmallRig 4 in 1 USB- C powered hub (ASIN B0DNJP5PLD) I Velcroed this to the back of the phone stand for useage. Now this provides not only power for the phone and mic but also allows the transfer of data through the phones single USB-C connector. Back to the mic: Rode PodMic (ASIN B07MSCRCVK) mounted on a generic boom arm. I like this mic as it works great and I feel that it gives the best bang for the buck. The mic then runs through a Pig Hog PHM3 XLR cable (ASIN B004GHB66U) on its way to the xlr-usbc interface. The signal is then reformatted from XLR to USB-C with a Shure MVX2U interface (ASIN B0C8W8D4PD.) The MVX2U is the priciest part of the setup but with other interfaces I could not get enough power to the mic. And finally an additional chubby chubby cable 4 foot (usb c to c) To the SmallRig hub. The chubby cable goes to the USB C hub in any of the 2.0 or 3.1 ports. The SmallRig hub then finally plugs into the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra ........ The phone recognizes this setup as a powered usb mic and a message is displayed when using the camera app. The hub seems to provide enough power for everything. With generic cables this setup did not work. The SmallRig hub needs to be removed to hear the audio back. I have not tested it with Bluetooth or any of that as I do not have that need. The Shure MVX2U does have a monitoring connector for a 3.5mm headphone jack but I have yet to test it. The setup works great. I am unsure about other phones or hardware that will work. FYI- I have listed the Amazon Standard Identification Number (ASIN) for the hardware that worked for me. I put this together awhile ago so some may not be available. Take this number and search it in the search bar of Amazon.com and after the sponsored listing the product should be displayed. Good luck with your setup!
r/Android • View on Reddit →I use the rode PodMic. It sounds amazing but you do need an audio interface for it. I got the Fifine audio amp and have had no problems at all
r/streaming • View on Reddit →I have the PodMic and really like it. I have it paired with Elgato Wave XLR
r/Twitch • View on Reddit →Shure is great, but over priced because of podcaster superstars who use them. Rode is similar quality for half the price. I use the Rodcaster, but Podmic seems to be great as well. Some recent dynamic USB microphones by Rode look awesome. Otherwise, Elgato Wave 3 is an easy pick. With the Elgato Wave Link software you can achieve everything possible with a dynamic mic and even more. I use it as well. Recent software upgrade brought some cool features and there are tons of plugins. Elgato is like Apple for podcasters and streamers. It's not cheap, but great quality products for every need.
r/podcasting • View on Reddit →Xlr are easy to set up but will require you to purchase an audio interface! I like the rode podmic at that price point, but make sure to also get a microphone desk mount. Very important to get the mic as close to your mouth as you can - about 4 inches away maximum. If you want an all in one setup, I hear fifine is pretty good for the budget end of audio gear.
r/VirtualYoutubers • View on Reddit →I do use a rode caster duo with a podmic. Also I got rode nt-usb and the nt-mini.
r/PartneredYoutube • View on Reddit →If you want a mic that sounds great, lasts long, and cuts down background noise, go for a dynamic XLR mic like the Audio-Technica AT2040 or Rode PodMic-both are solid for voiceovers in your budget. Pair it with an interface like the Focusrite Scarlett Solo, and you're set. If you ever need cleanup or mixing to make your recordings sound even better, I can help with that too.
r/podcasting • View on Reddit →With the Scarlett, your possibilites are endless. If your budget isn't rock bottom, go for a broadcast-style dynamic mic with internal shock mount. The reasonable ones start around the SE DCM-3 and the Rode Podmic. For a while, I had the mic boomed from a shelf next to my desk which was perfect for not carrying any noise from the desk itself. Currently on a Rode PSA1+ which contrary to popular belief is just as conductive as the cheap scissor arms, so my handheld-style mic is in a spider-style shock mount for now.
r/Twitch • View on Reddit →I use a [Rode PodMic](https://rode.com/en-gb/products/podmic) - they have a [bunch of arm/stand options,](https://rode.com/en-gb/accessories/stands-bars) run into a [Focusrite Scarlett 2i2](https://focusrite.com/products/scarlett-2i2). Not sure if this fits your budget or might be slightly over, but there are Black Friday, Cyber Monday and Christmas sales coming up, so those might be good times to grab these.
r/Twitch • View on Reddit →The rode podmic is pretty great. Sounds good, looks good. So cheap and there's a usb version with sound enhancing software.
r/podcasting • View on Reddit →Listen to Dave!..SamsonQ2U sounds fantastic as does the ATR2100. RODE Pod Mics are excellent if you want to pay a little bit more($99) but you will have a good looking mics for Video/visuals. And if you are planning on no more than two or three guests, including yourself, as others on this thread have recommended, the Zoom Podtrak P4 is incredibly versatile and super affordable at under $200. It's also super portable and a huge advantage over a bigger podcasting board like the RODECaster Pro 2 [https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/Rodecaster2--rode-rodecaster-pro-ii-podcast-production-console](https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/Rodecaster2--rode-rodecaster-pro-ii-podcast-production-console) Feel free to ask any other questions, as I am local to West Michigan. Best of all, good luck!
r/podcasting • View on Reddit →Any of those are good mics, but you could shop.used or open box to save some money and put that toward quieting down your PC, which will be very helpful. The SM58 and Podmic have the advantage of being designed to be close to your mouth, so they have better built-in pop filtering. AT2040 will probably sound crisper out of the box, but it will need more help with pop filtering.
r/Twitch • View on Reddit →Do not buy a blue yeti! The audio technica ATR 2100 is much better, and cheaper. Use the money you saved from not having to buy two blue yetis and pick up a Zoom paodtrack P4 for recording. If you have a little more money the rode podmic is $100 and also a good choice.
r/podcasting • View on Reddit →We use these too and it gets a good solid clean sound and the built in pop filter works pretty well. We tweak the hell out of the EQ's and compressors in post to really make these pop though. What's your process with these mics?
r/podcasting • View on Reddit →If you want to get into streaming I wouldn't drop $800 on a mic. You can spend $200-300 and be more than fine, perhaps less. Check out Rode mics. The nt1a is good (I use this as a partnered just chatting streamer) so is the Podmic, but you'll need to have some understanding of how sound treated your space is.
r/Twitch • View on Reddit →Don't get a condenser. Dynamic mics are far better for spoken word and untreated audio environments. Fine 688, Rhode podmic, shure MV7 are a few of my recommendations. Blue yeti, quadcast all that should be avoided.
r/Twitch • View on Reddit →Rode Podmic. Hands down my favorite mic for electric guitar. I regularly choose it over much costlier, fancier mics. And it's not a 57 knockoff, it sounds so much bigger and less harsh. Retails for $99, frequently on sale and used for 70 or less.
r/audioengineering • View on Reddit →When I had a decent mic, I have a scarlet solo + 25db booster + Rode Podmic, it sounded great with slight processing
r/NewTubers • View on Reddit →I unfortunately don't have very up to date information on affordable interfaces, but Focusrite is usually considered to have some of the best budget options. Their Vocaster One interface looks like a good option for you. Regarding mics in my opinion a used Shure SM57 or SM58 is great value, really some of the best bang for your buck. Røde Podmic is a good option of if your budget allows, you might see those on black friday sales. For like actual budget mics the Fifine K669D seems like crazy good value at 35-ish dollars.
r/audio • View on Reddit →Highly recommend The Samson Q2U . The RODE pod mic is a good choice as well. Longer-term: Shure SM7B. Superb microphone.
r/podcasting • View on Reddit →We use a mix of Rode Podmics and Procasters. Lots of folk use Shure SM7B which have a lovely warm tone, but need to be paired with the correct preamps.
r/podcasting • View on Reddit →We use the rode podmic and like it quite well
r/podcasting • View on Reddit →For USB it would be elgato wave 3 For XLR it's Rode Podmic (using elgato wave xlr) There is a newer Podmic that has USB-C and XLR that I also recommend. (Former audio engineer and DJ - now audiophile that knows too much)
r/Twitch • View on Reddit →Personally i went with a RODE podmic XLR version, i find it decent. Havn't had anyone complain about it, no background noise issues either.
r/vtubertech • View on Reddit →Also using a podmic with a very old 2i2 interface and it's perfect for me.
r/streaming • View on Reddit →I'm going to go out on a limb and assume you're not Placido Domingo. Put your expensive mics away, and use a podcast mic. The Rode gets surprisingly good sound, and is very forgiving with background noise. You still don't want to bang on your desk or anything, but I'm a room away from a clothes dryer and it's pretty much undetectable. What that does cut out you can probably virtually eliminate with some subtle EQ.
r/WeAreTheMusicMakers • View on Reddit →WARNING im not a audio pro. this is just my expierence i use a rode podmic with a Behringer UMC202HD and never have any issues. would recommend voice meter and maybe a different audio interface. if you want a different mic the shure sm7b is pretty good also pretty comon. idk what your plans are with the mic but if you want more of a remote option the DJI mic is good.
r/audio • View on Reddit →I have the Rode pod mic and the Rode A1 interface. XLR from the interface to the mic. then USB-C to the comptuer from the interface. I've had 0 troubles and it sounds great for the price. I came from one of the blue yeti mics from back in the day and wanted something a little more prosumer. If I didn't have a budget for my hobbies and just wanted the best, it would be a shure SM7B and a focusrite 2 channel so I could plug in another mic if I wanted to. edit: but even then, i've heard the differences on discord/teamspeak and audio calls and there really isn't much difference. It's only when you record the audio and send it uncompressed does the shure mic stand out a little bit. Rode did a VERY good job IMO.
r/audio • View on Reddit →Yeah i love it. I got it after watching the review by the youtuber Podcastage. He actually came away from the review not liking it that much, but the guitar sounds he got were exactly what I've been looking for. Despite trying out other stuff, I pretty much always prefer the podmic on electric guitar, especially on distorted electric guitar. https://youtu.be/6FaBq9DLi_U?feature=shared
r/audioengineering • View on Reddit →I've tried all of those. SM7B is obviously the king, but not worth the extra money. I wasn't impressed with MV7. Procaster was easily the best when it comes to money and sound, but the thing is huge. Nowadays I use Podmic. It's small, has good sound and is cheap, but obviously not the best sound quality. With good EQ and compressor you can make it sound really good.
r/Twitch • View on Reddit →Love my Rode PodMics. Just get the extra WS14 pop filters too. Well worth the extra $20.
r/podcasting • View on Reddit →Rode Pod Mic has not let me down. $100 well spent.
r/Twitch • View on Reddit →Depends on what you're doing and how serious you are. I'd recommend something like the Rode Podmic. It can connect via USB or xlr. You can get it for about $100 on Reverb. Then when you have the money for an audio interface (like the scarlet solo) you can get that for better audio quality. USB won't be as good. But a hard budget like that probably isn't enough for a good mic and audio interface.
r/VoiceActing • View on Reddit →I use the RØDE PodMic which is inexpensive, and has served me very well for the last few years, though it's an XLR mic, which would require an audio interface/mixer in addition However, there's also the RØDE PodMic USB, which is essentially the same microphone, but you can choose between USB and XLR connection, allowing you to switch to an XLR setup down the line if you so wished. It's about £150, but I assume you're talking US Dollars if you're saying "bucks", so it may be a little over budget. But a great mic to have if you can stretch your budget
r/Twitch • View on Reddit →Wired always if you're sitting at a desk, if you already have a headset mic and it sounds fine just use that but if you're buying something go wired. And I say that as someone that hates wires. I recommend elgato mics or the pod pod mic
