Love my Rode PodMics. Just get the extra WS14 pop filters too. Well worth the extra $20.
r/podcasting • Podcast mic recommendations ->\+1 to RODE Podmic USB - great on plenty of voices, good range, great sound.
r/podcasting • USB vs XLR mics: which do you prefer and why? ->First... You are smart to invest in a good microphone. Sound quality trumps everything in your production (outside of the content, of course). Second, if you are trying to keep the budget low they you probably want a USB microphone because then you don't need any adapters or to plug into a mixing board. You can even plug in directly to a smartphone and record high-quality sound. For $99 you can get the older version of the Rode PodMic. \~$200 you can do the PodMic that has USB and XLR connectors. I personally use the Shure MV7+. It is excellent.
r/podcasting • I want a good value podcast microphone. Can you guys recommend one? ->those $60 USB mic's are cheap and nasty. and you wont be able to monitor vocals properly without an interface, in which you can adjust levels of your music & vocals separately. the Rode PodMic USB is where I would start if I had to go with a USB mic. its solid, sounds great and will last for many years. $200. but the way to go for recording vocals is an interface & a condenser mic. yes you're going to have to spend a couple hundred dollars. but this is the entry point for recording DECENT audio.
r/audio • Recommendations mic for vocals on a budget? ->Yes, the MV7 is worth the extra money. To my ears, it's a much better sounding mic. Think about it this way, the PodMic is a $99 mic. You pay an extra $100 for them to make it USB. The MV7 is a $200 mic and you pay another $100 for them to add USB. The Shure mic is the mic I recommend to all of my clients because it just sounds good and I haven't heard a voice it doesn't work with. I've easily edited at least 20 different people using the MV7. The Podmic sounds fine in the video comparisons,. It will get the job done, but,a gain, to my ears, I prefer the sound of the MV7 by a wide margin.
r/podcasting • What to upgrade to: Shure MV7+ vs RØDE PodMic USB ->Make sure it's the PodMic USB as opposed to the XLR-only version. The latter needs an audio interface, while the former is USB as well as XLR, so can plug straight into your Mac to start with. Disclaimer: I'm Head of Podcaster Support and Experience at Captivate.
r/podcasting • Rode PodMic Cardioid Dynamic Broadcast Microphone...do I need anything else?? ->I hace... Is a gret Mic... BETTER than so mouch others!
r/recordingmusic • Tried and Tested: My 2025 Podcast Mic Recommendations (Top 8 favorites) ->I have the Rode pod mic and the Rode A1 interface. XLR from the interface to the mic. then USB-C to the comptuer from the interface. I've had 0 troubles and it sounds great for the price. I came from one of the blue yeti mics from back in the day and wanted something a little more prosumer. If I didn't have a budget for my hobbies and just wanted the best, it would be a shure SM7B and a focusrite 2 channel so I could plug in another mic if I wanted to. edit: but even then, i've heard the differences on discord/teamspeak and audio calls and there really isn't much difference. It's only when you record the audio and send it uncompressed does the shure mic stand out a little bit. Rode did a VERY good job IMO.

Don't get a condenser. Dynamic mics are far better for spoken word and untreated audio environments. Fine 688, Rhode podmic, shure MV7 are a few of my recommendations. Blue yeti, quadcast all that should be avoided.
r/Twitch • Best budget mic for streaming? ->Wired always if you're sitting at a desk, if you already have a headset mic and it sounds fine just use that but if you're buying something go wired. And I say that as someone that hates wires. I recommend elgato mics or the pod pod mic
r/Twitch • Recommended mic for streaming? ->Rode Podmic USB is my favorite. r/podcasting • View on Reddit →I'm going to go out on a limb and assume you're not Placido Domingo. Put your expensive mics away, and use a podcast mic. The Rode gets surprisingly good sound, and is very forgiving with background noise. You still don't want to bang on your desk or anything, but I'm a room away from a clothes dryer and it's pretty much undetectable. What that does cut out you can probably virtually eliminate with some subtle EQ.
r/WeAreTheMusicMakers • View on Reddit →Given that you'll be recording in uncontrolled environments, you'll want a 'dynamic' microphone to reduce background noise. You'll want one with direct USB input, to avoid having to deal with the cost and hassle of additional XLR interface. With that in mind, I'd recommend the RØDE PodMic USB. This should fit within your budget and comes with both a wind screen and USB cable. Pair this with a cheap desktop mic stand.
r/digitalnomad • View on Reddit →I use the RØDE PodMic which is inexpensive, and has served me very well for the last few years, though it's an XLR mic, which would require an audio interface/mixer in addition However, there's also the RØDE PodMic USB, which is essentially the same microphone, but you can choose between USB and XLR connection, allowing you to switch to an XLR setup down the line if you so wished. It's about £150, but I assume you're talking US Dollars if you're saying "bucks", so it may be a little over budget. But a great mic to have if you can stretch your budget
r/Twitch • View on Reddit →We use a mix of Rode Podmics and Procasters. Lots of folk use Shure SM7B which have a lovely warm tone, but need to be paired with the correct preamps.
r/podcasting • View on Reddit →I use Rode PodMic USB when recording in the studio and DJI Mic 2 when recording outdoors.
r/PartneredYoutube • View on Reddit →Fourth. I do love the Rode Podmic USB, but if you're on a budget, it's hard to beat the Q2U *Moderator Required full disclosure: I am the head of Podcasting at Podpage and the founder of the School of Podcasting.*
r/podcasting • View on Reddit →Listen to Dave!..SamsonQ2U sounds fantastic as does the ATR2100. RODE Pod Mics are excellent if you want to pay a little bit more($99) but you will have a good looking mics for Video/visuals. And if you are planning on no more than two or three guests, including yourself, as others on this thread have recommended, the Zoom Podtrak P4 is incredibly versatile and super affordable at under $200. It's also super portable and a huge advantage over a bigger podcasting board like the RODECaster Pro 2 [https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/Rodecaster2--rode-rodecaster-pro-ii-podcast-production-console](https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/Rodecaster2--rode-rodecaster-pro-ii-podcast-production-console) Feel free to ask any other questions, as I am local to West Michigan. Best of all, good luck!
r/podcasting • View on Reddit →The thing I like about the Rode Podmic USB is you are basically getting a single channel Rodecaster (as all the effects are in the software that comes with the mic, and you then save the settings into the mic). In the end, its the mic that you feel most comfortable (as all of these sound good). I have a Shure SM7B, and I still use the Rode Podmic USB. Why? Because I like the sound of my voice more on this mic than on the SM7B. *Moderator Required full disclosure: I am the head of Podcasting at Podpage and the founder of the School of Podcasting.*
r/podcasting • View on Reddit →I use the rode podmic usb with the iphone 16. I works great. A bit big and heavy for your use case.
r/LocationSound • View on Reddit →Thanks! I'll be getting the USB podmic !
r/podcasting • View on Reddit →For USB it would be elgato wave 3 For XLR it's Rode Podmic (using elgato wave xlr) There is a newer Podmic that has USB-C and XLR that I also recommend. (Former audio engineer and DJ - now audiophile that knows too much)
r/Twitch • View on Reddit →Spend a hair more and you can get a Rode USB mic and they have fantastic sound.
r/Twitch • View on Reddit →I unfortunately don't have very up to date information on affordable interfaces, but Focusrite is usually considered to have some of the best budget options. Their Vocaster One interface looks like a good option for you. Regarding mics in my opinion a used Shure SM57 or SM58 is great value, really some of the best bang for your buck. Røde Podmic is a good option of if your budget allows, you might see those on black friday sales. For like actual budget mics the Fifine K669D seems like crazy good value at 35-ish dollars.
r/audio • View on Reddit →The Rode Podmic USB is around $200 new and pretty good. It's a USB and XLR dynamic mic. If you use it over USB, you can use their software to tweak the EQ and add some effects.
r/Twitch • View on Reddit →If it was me I would grab a Rode PodMic USB. If I needed a stand for it the Rode DS2 desktop stand works pretty good.
r/podcasting • View on Reddit →Rode Pod Mic has not let me down. $100 well spent.
r/Twitch • View on Reddit →My favorites are mics that do both. Samson Q2U, Rode Podmic USB *Moderator Required full disclosure: I am the head of Podcasting at Podpage and the founder of the School of Podcasting.*
r/podcasting • View on Reddit →The Rode Podmic USB has a noise gate built in (It's like having a single channel Rodecaster). *Moderator Required full disclosure: I am the head of Podcasting at Podpage and the founder of the School of Podcasting.*
r/podcasting • View on Reddit →I love, love, love, my Rode Podmic USB. I believe both mics come with software that enable you to shape the sound. The podmic USB is basically a single channel Rodecaster. I have a Shure SM7B, an EV RE300. I still use the Rode. Why? It's simple. I like my voice on that mic better (and that's all it boils down to) *Moderator Required full disclosure: I am the head of Podcasting at Podpage and the founder of the School of Podcasting.*
r/podcasting • View on Reddit →If you're looking at a USB dynamic mic, you can't do much better than the Podmic USB.
r/audio • View on Reddit →Just watched a ton of YT videos trying to decide the same thing. Ended up going with the Rode. So far, I'm not disappointed.
