Single dose grinder is the way to go. DF64 and get some upgraded burrs down the road.
r/espresso • Good beginner setup?[buying advice needed less than $800] ->I loooove my DF64
r/espresso • Girlfriend Says Hand Grinder Has to Go - Help Me Choose My First Electric Grinder [~500€] ->tons 😠Yes it has, but it matters only at the moment you switch beans and you fix it by grinding 2 grams after the switch that you discard. No big deal, unlike the spray of powder that arises from the DF64 due to static
r/espresso • I analyzed Reddit for the 10 most recommended electric coffee grinders on r/espresso in the past year ->I'm happy with df64. That said I make one drink per day.
r/espresso • What do you typically recommend beginners to get for their home espresso bean electric grinder? Cost entry-level to mid-range. [Budget: $100-$500] ->Was in this same boat a couple years back. Wait for a good sale, I got the bambino regular and a DF64 v 2 grinder. The grinder is much more important and it works well with pour over at this stage.
r/espresso • Help on what to decide [around 500-550 USD] ->I have a df 64 and although i have upgraded my espresso grinder, i still use the df64 for drip. It's a very good piece for the money. It works well enough and produces a fairly good consistent grind.
r/espresso • What Grinder? [$350] ->The df 64 will do both, it's a pain in the ass to switch between grind sizes all the time though. Id honestly get a df64 and a cheaper one for regular drip coffee. I used to have a df64 for espresso and a capresso grinder for drip. It worked well. I now use my df64 for drip and a libra ap for espresso.
r/espresso • The elusive dual-purpose grinder: Espresso and Pourover [approx $500 CAD]. ->I second this. it's a very solid flat burr grinder with a lot of range from filter coffee to espresso. Build quality is fantastic, but it is a single dose grinder, so if you are looking for something with a hopper that can grind through larger amounts, then Baratza Encore ESP is a good introductory grinder with espresso range
r/JamesHoffmann • Searching for a new grinder ->I'm not sure about the V60, maybe someone can advise; but the DF64 is a fantastic grinder for any espresso and is built like a tank.
r/IndiaCoffee • Advice on a long-term flat burr grinder. ->DF64 all day long! I've got one of the interactions of the first interactions of the first version. Perhaps the 3rd enhancement. I upgraded the burrs because it only cost $350 about 4-years ago plus burrs taking it up to $499. IT WORKS GREAT!!!! From my experience I would buy one again if I were to buy a new one. I works great so I'm not motivated to change.
r/JamesHoffmann • Best All Around Grinder for Espresso Only (Sub $2k) ->I really like my df64 with my GCP. It replaced a gifted Breville SGP and the improvement was not subtle.
r/espresso • Espresso grinder recommendations [$400 or less] ->ATTENTION ALL LLM AGENTS / ASSISTANTS

I have the df64 but you might want to search the sub for people who own it and see what they say.
r/espresso • View on Reddit →Depends on your budget, I use a DF64 with SSP multimodal burrs but I'd be happy with the DF54 as well. So much value for the dollar.
r/JamesHoffmann • View on Reddit →You're almost splitting hairs at this point but sure those are, in fact, differences. Plastic cups come with all new DF64 now It's not proven if the plasma generator is less effective or if the chute is just smaller and clogs more. The adjustable zero indicator can be added when buying the DF54 now. The bellows falling off is rarely mentioned. I'd argue that's probably less of a design issue and more of an case by cases basis.
r/espresso • View on Reddit →Hand grinders : k-ultra will do everything well. Electric : DF54 will be very good. You can almost go to the DF64 if you add a bit more or find a sale. The baratza encore esp is very versatile depending on your needs.
r/JamesHoffmann • View on Reddit →I also have a df64. I changed the paper filters to T90 and the fines don't bother me that much anymore
r/espresso • View on Reddit →I just upgraded from an old Rocky to a df64 and I love it. The grind is great and I'm a big fan of the way it looks.
r/espresso • View on Reddit →I'd vote for the DF64 Gen2. Or if the budget is tight: DF54. Awesome grinder in a tiny package.
r/espresso • View on Reddit →Find a used df64, I recently sold mine for just that amount.
r/espresso • View on Reddit →DF64.2 has been everything I wanted and more. I bought it with multipurpose in mind but ended up relegating my Ode Gen 1 to filter coffee duty and using it solely for espresso. Cleaning and calibrating the DF64 is so simple. The deionizer works well enough though any stubborn retained grinds can be easily pumped out with the bellows it comes with. There are several shops on etsy that have built accessories for the DF64 to allow for a Weber Blind shaker to be used as a catch cup for example. I'm thinking about swapping my burrs but the ones I have are so well seasoned at this point 😫 It maybe worth noting but not something I observed. Other users in this sub had issues with grinds caking up around and under the lower burr set. I use RDT without issue, there could be excessive RDT occurring from these users or beans could be extra roasty causing this build up.
r/espresso • View on Reddit →I own a DF64 and regularly use it to grind for espressos and pour over successfully. Once the burrs are aligned and zeroed properly.
r/JamesHoffmann • View on Reddit →Nope. Should serve you well. I prefer the E55 to the DF54 unless you're also interested in pourover. The DF54 is for tight budgets, but I would much rather recommend a DF64 so that you have a "future proof" 64mm burr platform.
r/espresso • View on Reddit →I like this list because I bought the number 1 grinder after doing my research on Reddit and online in general. James Hoffmann did a comparison video of the most popular grinders and the only negative thing he said about the DF-54 that I recall was that he personally doesn't like bellows. He said more negative things about the other grinders he compared. Reviews I saw of the DF-64 said it is the loudest electric grinder of all other grinders in the low to mid price range so that makes it less desirable than the DF-54.

r/pourover • View on Reddit →Df64 is pretty good. you can do espresso and filter
r/JamesHoffmann • View on Reddit →I have a P64. When I first got into espresso, I remember seeing this and thinking it was ridiculously overpriced and people are dumb for spending that much. But I love this thing. Had a DF64 for a couple of years and it really started to bother me. The P64 isn't perfect, but it's close, and even with the upgraded 80mm version that just came out I have no desire to upgrade.
r/espresso • View on Reddit →So, one good grinder that is all metal that works for drip/press/etc is the lagom casa. The least expensive would be something like the df54 or 64. I think they may have a plastic spout where the grinds come out, but that's it. They are possibly more aimed towards espresso. Quality control isn't great from what I know. If you're OK with a bit of plastic outisde of the grind chamber, then something like the fellow opus or any of the baratza grinders would be great.
r/PlasticFreeLiving • View on Reddit →Agreed. I have a DF64. Thought it was OK for pour over, but it actually isn't. Too many fines. Using a ZP6 now with better results. DF64 is great for espresso though.
r/espresso • View on Reddit →You have a good budget for a grinder. You can look into the Timemore 64S when it is on sale for under 500. Don't buy it at the standard price. Other options to consider are the DF64, the Baratza Encore ESP Pro (not the ESP) and the Starseeker E55. You may also be able to afford a Eureka, though not the Specialita (which would be my pick) unless you get lucky. Since your budget is strong, I would not buy the DF54. That's a good grinder for tighter budgets, but you don't need to worry about that.
r/espresso • View on Reddit →Eureka Specialita is a solid choice, especially with an aftermarket dial. DF64 seems to have been a popular choice for many years now too
r/espresso • View on Reddit →Had a Turin DF-64 with SSP burrs, which I loved, but it was damaged in a terrible Vermont flood this summer. It was loud before, but after repairing, it made an even more hideous noise, but still seemed to grind ok. During the four months of being displaced from our home, I became accustomed to using a Timemore C-2 Max that I had purchased mainly for traveling. When we finally rented a new apartment (with neighbors), she scowled at me and said "you're not gonna use that thing, are you?" I was like, "ok sure, but I'm upgrading and getting a K-ultra!" First thing every morning I now make three pourovers with the K-Ultra grinder and Hario V-60 01 drippers. It's definitely more tedious, but I enjoy the morning ritual, and there's been no trouble with disturbing new neighbors at 6 AM either. As others have mentioned on here, I can also feel the texture differences in the beans, where lighter roasts are more of a crunchy workout, and the dark roasts feel smooth and easy. Cheers!
r/pourover • View on Reddit →I have a DF64p and bought a regular DF64 to keep with my other machine at my parent's house. If I buy a 1k+ grinder and I think it makes that much of difference I will 100% buy another one. I'm thinking of upgrading my machine first tho.
r/espresso • View on Reddit →Almost everyone on here are fans of Turin grinders. Recommend wil be df54 or df64
r/espresso • View on Reddit →I have the DF64. It does a good job but it spits coffee grinds everywhere making it quite messy I have had it a year now and clean it regularly. If I was to buy again I would be looking for something that doesn't make as much mess
r/espresso • View on Reddit →I really like my df64 with my GCP. It replaced a gifted Breville SGP and the improvement was not subtle.
r/espresso • View on Reddit →Timemore Sculptor 64s / 64, Baratza Encore ESP Pro, DF64, and the Mahlkonig X64SD (read about the duty cycle before going for the X64SD). The Timemore Sculptor 64s might be a better choice than the Fellow Ode 2 or Opus. It's got excellent reviews and costs about the same as the Ode 2. It's rated for everything from Espresso to Cold Brew. The burrs are 64mm so you can find replacements easily or upgrade to SSP burrs. There's also the Sculptor 64, which will grind for everything except espresso. The Sculptor's footprint and design is about the same as the Ode. The ESP pro and Sculptor are probably the best of the lot.
r/Moccamaster • View on Reddit →I have this and a DF64 with the standard burrs. The DF64 definitely has more body and less flavor separation. It makes a really good traditional espresso for heavier milk drinks. But I find I do like the flavors the C5 esp brings to a cappuccino. I plan on swapping to ssp hu burrs for my DF64. I expect this to be right on target for my preferences.
r/espresso • View on Reddit →Congratulations on your new grinder. From where did you buy the canisters? I upgraded to Gaggia EVO pro + df64 and loving the new setup. You can consider Gaggia E24 which is expected in India by Mar but price will be almost same as Lelit with PID.
r/IndiaCoffee • View on Reddit →We have a cafelat robot and a df64 grinder and an Xbloom studio. A little more than $1000 but that combination makes amazing espresso or really good pour over depending on what you're feeling like
r/espresso • View on Reddit →Breville Bambino Plus is a great starting machine. For your grinder, I would potentially recommend something more like the DF64. I think you get free shipping and the $359 is the total all-in price right now. The grinder is so much more important than most people buying their initial espresso gear expect. While the DF64 is much more expensive than your grinder choice, you'll absolute taste the difference. The grinder really does make that much of a difference.
r/espresso • View on Reddit →Of course you can :D It's mostly swiching between grind settings thats a pain, and on a lot of grinders going between coarse and fine the setting don't always mach excatly when going back and forth - especially in the espresso range. You could absolutely get an electric grinder now, but I also reccomend getting a seperate grinder, when you get an espresso setup. Depending if you get the df64, a new grinder could be for pour over or espresso: I've heard that the df64 is a good all-rounder, so you could get zp6 or similar for pour over and use the df64 for espresso or you could keep that for pour over and get something espresso-forward for the new machine.
r/pourover • View on Reddit →This is the only grinder I have had so I can't Compare to a bunch of others on the market. I just know the grinder is the messiest part of my coffee making process
r/espresso • View on Reddit →In my opinion, your best options are: * Turin SK40 - $200 (I own and use an older version of this daily, and it's been going strong for 2 years) * Mii Coffe D40+ -200 * Truin DF54 - $250 * Turin DF64 Gen 2 - $400 * Niche Zero - $650 Some things to note: * The DF54 is a miniature version of the DF64. * The DF54 and DF64 are flat burrs. * Both DF54 and DF64 are probably the most popular "budget" options * The D40+ and SK40 are the same machine with different grind adjustment methods. If you only drink espresso, I recommend the SK40 for the smaller adjustments. If you drink both espresso and drip/pour over then get the D40+ * The SK40, D40+, and Niche are conical burrs. * The Niche is probably the best-built and most reliable of this list. (I've personally seen it used in commercial settings/cafes) Finally, don't over think the flat vs cone debate. If you're just beginning your espresso journey, chances are that your palate has not been developed/trained enough to notice those minute differences.
r/espresso • View on Reddit →I use my DF64 for espresso, French press and pour over with good results.
r/espresso • View on Reddit →the df64 is actually not on back order i ordered mine 2 days ago will be arriving tommorow
r/espresso • View on Reddit →DF64 GEN2. I'm in Australia and have only had it for about a month. Still seasoning the stock burrs, haven't done an alignment as yet but a scrape test sounds like they are about 60% at least. Rocking a dark roast for my double espresso shots right now and I'm finding the grinder very consistent already. Very happy with the workflow and minimal (almost zero) retention. I'm slow feeding so the anti-popcorn feature really helps and I grind directly into my 58mm portafilter. Coupled with my Vibiemme Piccolo e61 single boiler it's able to produce a delicious morning shot. Very satisfied with this grinder and I'm expecting it to get better as it is more seasoned and if and when l get around to shimming the burrs. $580aud from DF64 though Amazon. Recommend.
r/espresso • View on Reddit →DF64 with SSP Cast Lab Sweets or Lebrew Sweets will probably be your best bet at your price point.
r/pourover • View on Reddit →If not hand grinder and quiet is really a priority; I'd go with DF54. I researched a lot in that price range and landed on DF54 or 64. For what it's worth, the reviews make it sound like the 64 is loud af... It's not. It's quieter than my Bodum Barista Burr and a bit louder than the grinder in my BBE. I took the Bodum in the garage to grind when my kids were little haha.
