I wouldn't advise it, I've had it for ten years, it doesn't grind fine enough for espresso for me. I'd buy a Baratza ESP from Amazon and return it if it doesn't work out I now use a Niche Zero and it's amazing for me

I've got a Niche Zero, had it for nearly four years I think. Never had a problem with it and it does filter and espresso grinds to my fairly relaxed requirements. I use it without thinking about it which is a good thing. I can't speak about the others you've listed as I have no experience with them but I got the Zero as an upgrade on a mid-ish hand grinder and it was a revelation.
r/espresso • Girlfriend Says Hand Grinder Has to Go - Help Me Choose My First Electric Grinder [~500€] ->The zero is not good for pourover.
r/pourover • What is the best at-home coffee grinder. I don't mind spending $$. ->I use the Niche zero for this application. Workflow still can't be beat.
r/espresso • "2 in 1" Grinder for Espresso and Pour over ->On the bar is a Eureka A65 that is dialed in for espresso. Don't want to mess with that. It is dedicated to espresso. Next to it is a Niche Zero that handles pour overs, AeroPress, and the ocassional request for decaf espresso. It's marvelous. I also have a Mahlkonig K35 that I need to get dialed in or it needs to get off the bar. It has not been very cooperative so far! And I have a hand grinder for travel.
r/espresso • Do you own more than one coffee grinder? [$1000] ->Niche Zero, 700eu. For workflow and footprint.
r/espresso • What grinder do you use, why, and how much did it cost? ->I have a BDB, it's paired up with a Niche Zero. I also like you, have a Smart GP. I got one for my birthday a while back, I eventually sold it for the Niche. Eventually I picked up another Smart GP because I wanted to do cold brews and pour overs. I'm still faffing around, my wife asks me why I need two grinders and honestly, it's a painless effort. The Smart GP I use for pour overs and cold brew. I set it to coarse and that's all I need it to do. As much as I want to use my Niche for it, it's primarily my espresso grinder. I'm not saying you have to get rid of it, but you can technically keep yours and get a dedicated espresso grinder, like a Niche, or like the others have recommended. I think for best bang for the buck and you can upgrade down the line is probably the DF64 or DF54.
r/espresso • The elusive dual-purpose grinder: Espresso and Pourover [approx $500 CAD]. ->I own a niche and a timore sculptor 64s. The sculptor costs less tastes better for espresso and can do pour over.
r/espresso • Girlfriend Says Hand Grinder Has to Go - Help Me Choose My First Electric Grinder [~500€] ->I have 4. A C40 and a Zp6 for pour over (one stays at work). And a DF64V and a niche zero for espresso. Got the Df64V to try flat burrs for espresso so might sell the niche but tempted to keep it for dark roasts.
r/espresso • Do you own more than one coffee grinder? [$1000] ->Honestly, if you're brewing medium and dark roasts for espresso, it's hard to beat the Niche Zero for UX. If you want a flavor upgrade from your Ode for filter, I absolutely love my 078. The two of those together would still be well within your price range, especially if you can find a 078 secondhand ($600-650 is reasonable). A secondhand niche can be found for $500 or less very easily these days. You could probably find a nice 83 mm grinder and put some lab sweet SSP burrs in there and get a pretty good compromise, but if you're changing grind sizes between espresso and filter constantly, it's not going to be the most delightful experience. I have two grinders myself now, and I think it's the way to go.
r/pourover • $2k Grinder for both Espresso and Filter Suggestions ->Yes, depending on how "light" and "medium" the actual specific roasters you're buying from are - I drink very very light roasts for filter, and I think the 078 is amazing. Whether you'll like the Niche or another espresso grinder best is more of a preference question; there are so many options these days (Lagom Casa, DF54/64/83, Eureka Mignon series...) that are all pretty good that you can kinda pick your favorite based on price, workflow, and aesthetics. My espresso grinder is a DF83 with SSP HU burrs, and if I were buying today at the $1000-and-under price point, I'd probably stick with that, except upgrade to the DF83V for a quieter motor and better feeding mechanism. Love the HUs though.
r/pourover • $2k Grinder for both Espresso and Filter Suggestions ->if its mostly or only espresso, niche zero is the best, imho. havent found anything better. the simplicity is the best. its still the iphone of espresso grinders. and considered the gold standard. you can't go wrong with it. i tried a few others but didnt like any over the zero. i tried a femobook a4 too, but it sucked at espresso, its more for drip coffee. in the long run the niche you'll enjoy using and its like an end game grinder. i need another and can't find anything better. i wanted to try something but not happy with results. i like the full body taste so niche wins for me.
r/espresso • View on Reddit →Glad you are exploring the world of espresso. The Niche Zero is so cool looking. And at your current and aspiring level of skill, should satisfy for a long time. I have an old Mazzer Mini. The Niche is so much easier on the eyes and quieter and so user friendly to dial in for different beans. Plumbing in takes you to next level of convenience and water managment. The better machines are monsters. So what?! A heat exchanger may be smaller. I think they are great. Other than the cooling flush, they do the job. Nuova Simonelli has a nice look. I am partial to Quick Mill, or Izzo. LIke the Vivi. Keep in mind its a a bit of a messy hobby. Grinding coffee is messy. You need a space that isn't taking up other kitchen areas. Have fun. Home Barista has great forums. And many useful tips
r/espresso • View on Reddit →Started with the Baratza Encore, got the Niche Zero last year!
r/espresso • View on Reddit →Right now I use a Niche Zero ($700ish) and a K-Plus (gift) for espresso. Niche Zero is a great workhorse for traditional espresso; I bought it with my La Pavoni as my first espresso setup. I don't know that I would buy it again today, but I love having it and will never get rid of it. At some point this year I'll be receiving my Zerno Z1 with four sets of burrs ($2,300), which will take over for all non-traditional espresso brewing (including pourovers and other preparation methods).
r/espresso • View on Reddit →My 1Z took 5 minutes that's why I got a niche and it was a great decision.
r/espresso • View on Reddit →This is the way. Not $1000 but my overpriced niche zero is 10x better than what I was using before lol
r/espresso • View on Reddit →I've swapped back and forth with the Niche Zero between two different beans with different grind sizes and not noticed any problems.
r/espresso • View on Reddit →In my opinion, your best options are: * Turin SK40 - $200 (I own and use an older version of this daily, and it's been going strong for 2 years) * Mii Coffe D40+ -200 * Truin DF54 - $250 * Turin DF64 Gen 2 - $400 * Niche Zero - $650 Some things to note: * The DF54 is a miniature version of the DF64. * The DF54 and DF64 are flat burrs. * Both DF54 and DF64 are probably the most popular "budget" options * The D40+ and SK40 are the same machine with different grind adjustment methods. If you only drink espresso, I recommend the SK40 for the smaller adjustments. If you drink both espresso and drip/pour over then get the D40+ * The SK40, D40+, and Niche are conical burrs. * The Niche is probably the best-built and most reliable of this list. (I've personally seen it used in commercial settings/cafes) Finally, don't over think the flat vs cone debate. If you're just beginning your espresso journey, chances are that your palate has not been developed/trained enough to notice those minute differences.
r/espresso • View on Reddit →If the DF64's look bothers you, the niche zero is probably the nicest balance of design and usability. It costs more, but it's still solid for both espresso and filter, and way easier on the eyes.
r/JamesHoffmann • View on Reddit →I've been very happy with my Niche Zero for a number of years. Nearly every day we use it for both espresso and aeropress. It's really easy to dial back and forth between grinds for different brew types.
r/espresso • View on Reddit →Jfc, well that's good to know. This is the grinder I genuinely think is best for me and what I want out of my coffee. And I can accept the current price point (only just), but not with that additional cost. Bummer.
r/espresso • View on Reddit →Try to get the niche second hand, like I did. There will be new Grinder in 2026, also the new DF64gen3 I guess? Maybe you wait, or get something similar.
r/espresso • View on Reddit →Thank you chatGPT but the Niche Zero is terrible at pour over. I'd say not even really capable of it. The brews stall 8/10 times and the taste is awful.
r/pourover • View on Reddit →It is the internet, with a global reach. Many of the subs and forums get dominated by people who need to tell why they are right and you are wrong. Having owned a DF64 and found it to be one of the loudest, most unreliable grinders backed with no customer service, I have had in 40 years, I would say well done you dodged a bullet. Anything by Option O gets my vote (I have a P64 now, owned a Mini and tested a Casa and P100). The cheaper Eurekas I like as hopper fed grinders, but not single dose (the adjustment is not consistent). Niche Zero (I have one) is bombproof, quiet and lovely adjustment. However, more of a traditional darker to medium roast grinder. A used Mazzer SJ or Mini would be bombproof and a good find.
r/JamesHoffmann • View on Reddit →I am AuDHD and have this flavour of neurodivergent noise "fun" aka torture. I have a Zerno Z1 and it's not especially noisy. It's near silent with AirPods Pro in on noise cancelling mode. I also cannot hear it when I use my custom IEMs. I had the Niche Zero and the Duo. The Zero was pretty quiet. I think flat burr grinders have a higher pitched scream than conical - but the Z1 is fairly quiet to me. I sold the Niche grinders. I also have an "AliExpress copy" of the HG-1 grinder which cost me around £400 a few years back. It is very quiet because you control the speed of the grinding with the wheel. So this is mainly the sound of crunching coffee beans and a low mechanical rumble of intermeshing gears. Do not buy a Mazzer Super Jolly. That thing was loud! I am happy to record the sounds of these machines if you want. Oh and to fully answer your question, the Z1 doesn't have much in the way of safety features so you can absolutely load the hopper with a measured dose of beans (I use 17.5 or 18g) and leave it switched on.... via a smart switch like a Kasa Smart Plug. I use these for some of my home lights. The smart switch can be operated from your phone or you can ask a home assistant like google home / Alexa or whatever to turn it on/off.

r/espresso • View on Reddit →Our home set up is a Niche Zero grinder and a Sage Bambino Plus - both are super user-friendly. There are more sophisticated espresso machines out there, but if you want something entry level that'll deliver solid results/do most of the work for you then I'd recommend the Bambino Plus. The auto steamer for milk is particularly handy when you've just rolled out of bed. Edit: recommend [Coffee Kev](https://youtube.com/@coffee_kev?si=j0pqIr0VA8P2T8JS) for equipment reviews.
r/BuyItForLife • View on Reddit →This was exactly why I replaced mine. It was so massively inconsistent. The Niche was such a massive upgrade in both taste and stability. But so is the K6...
r/espresso • View on Reddit →I don't know how most people feel, but I started with a broken gaggia classic I fixed, and a Kinu M47. I figured it was a way to dip my toes in and really get to see if wanted to continue with espresso. I quickly upgraded to a Niche Zero lol but mainly used the hand grinding for some time. It was a lot of fun, but for me it was very cumbersome. It might be because I was initially so focused on getting all the parameters right, and when I messed up I dreaded having to "grind finer". I know it's lame to say, but while it doesn't seem bad for you. For me, it really did get sort of tiring when I was a beginner to have to hand grind to dial in so many times and made me enjoy the hobby a little less. It didn't help I also kept playing with temp surfing etc, but once I got my electric grinder it made just enjoying the process easier for me. It could also be that I have incredibly weak arms or something I dunno.
r/espresso • View on Reddit →The difference in taste between my old Smart Grinder Pro conical and the Niche Zero was night and day to me. I don't foresee me replacing the Niche with another conical grinder, but this upgrade was well worth it to me!
r/espresso • View on Reddit →So I started with a Niche Zero but did not love it. I felt like I was buying great beans and not getting the most out of it. I then bought the DF 83 v and it was a significant step up. I then tried to upgrade the burrs but could not get one of the screws out which left me not happy. Then I watched the Brian Quan video where he visits Kafatek and fell in love with the concept build quality etc. I got one of the first Flat Max 3 and it has been an end game. Nothing I have tried (z1, EG1 or Philos) has touched it. The DF 83 v still makes great coffee at work. Probably the best bang for your buck I have come across for a big flat burr grinder. I also have a j ultra for travel. Check out this video from this search, coffee influencer visiting kafatek https://share.google/lsHnK10dz67CPj8H9
r/espresso • View on Reddit →I have been using the Niche Zero for drip coffee for 4 months now. It works great. It makes no sense to downgrade to a poorer grinder.
r/JamesHoffmann • View on Reddit →My partner and I got a Niche Zero grinder and a Bambino +. Both are super easy to use and the price is pretty reasonable. We find the coffee we make at home is generally better than what we get at coffee shops. I did quite a bit of research and something I heard repeatedly from experts was that the grinder is more important than the espresso machine
r/JamesHoffmann • View on Reddit →I got a used (perfect condition) niche zero for 300 and I'm loving it
r/JamesHoffmann • View on Reddit →I'm pretty happy with my Timemore 064s. I got it early on at a promo price about a year ago. I use it almost exclusively for espresso. I had a PCB go up on me recently and Timemore sent me a replacement. The replacement took a couple of "back & forth's" and the first replacement they sent was the wrong PCB so there can be some communication issues with these folks. All in all I still like my 064s. No regrets. I have a Niche Zero also which I like too.

r/pourover • View on Reddit →I find that the zero doesn't grind coarse enough for filter, which is why I still use my ode for that (plus it's nice to have two grinders at two settings).
r/JamesHoffmann • View on Reddit →I used to own the Niche, replaced it with the 078 and now I don't feel like I will be buying a new grinder any time soon. It's fantastic for pour overs, and I stopped drinking espressos
r/pourover • View on Reddit →I've owned a Baratza Virtuoso (barely adequate, if that), a Turin DF 64 V. 1, a Niche Zero, and the Eureka Mignon Zero. The Turin was more clarity/fruity forward, though not by much, but I sold that for a Niche Zero. I owned them both for a little while and decided to keep the Niche. The Niche was fine-super user friendly, and easy to clean-but for not-particularly-rational reasons I was drawn to the Eureka (for esthetics mainly), so I sold the Niche. The Niche and the Eureka are both quiet, and great for my preference of dark beans and classic Italian espresso-- really, between the two you can't go wrong. But unless you can find a used Niche there's a big price difference. As I reread my post I sound like a person always after the next thing, but I did eventually stop questing something different!
r/espresso • View on Reddit →I love my hand grinder if I'm honest, I use my Comandante C40 MK4 nearly every day for filter coffee, I really don't mind the process of it, doesn't take much time to grind 40.5g which is my normal dose for my morning pot on my Moccamaster. I also own a Niche Zero, I have owned it for about 4 years now, which I use for light-medium roasts (I would say it does struggle with stuff on the super light end) and consistency wise it's not amazing but for the price point I do question how much improvement I could get grinder wise without spending a lot more money.
r/espresso • View on Reddit →I've been using the Niche Zero for about a year. I've never had any issues with it, and adjusting between aero press and espresso grind sizes on the single burr set had been perfect. I've never has issues with beans bouncing or retention. Highly recommend.
r/JamesHoffmann • View on Reddit →The K6 will be considerably better for both espresso and filter coffee, but a lot less convenient and more physical work. I owned a SGP and replaced it with a Niche Zero which was a big upgrade. The Niche produces too many fines for my liking with v60s so I bought a K6 which was another big upgrade for filter. I tried the K6 for espresso and found I preferred it for light roasts to my Niche Zero as it's more acid forward! The Niche is my preference for darker roasts but the K6 is really impressive.
r/espresso • View on Reddit →I am using the Niche for 2 years now and can only tell you about it in the list you mentioned. But damn am I happy with it. If you want a very good Grinder for medium and dark roasts, with a wonderful brewing routine and a very good build quality? Then get the Niche. It is probably one of the best Grinders if you want to try different beans as it has a very forgiving range of settings. Means it's very easy to make a very good coffee with a lot of different beans with it. The "perfect" shot it harder to reach, but also manageable with a bit of time if you don't switch beans a lot.
r/espresso • View on Reddit →Is that after they paid $689 for the grinder?!!
r/espresso • View on Reddit →My Niche will grind 50 grams in one go, 40 with room. That's not enough for 3 cups for you? What's your recipe. Someone else here recommended the Encore. Good grinder for drip but louder and with more static. Not a lateral move
r/JamesHoffmann • View on Reddit →I've owned the Key MK2, Kafatek, and Niche Zero (and many more flat burr grinders). I'm sticking with the Niche Zero. For me personally, it's the best grinder for medium to dark roasts. You won't get the most complex flavor notes, but you'll enjoy a rich, chocolatey, nutty, and syrupy-thick espresso. It's honestly the best and easiest conical burr grinder to use even for other people in the household. Also, this grinder is truly high-quality. With the Key and Kafatek, you must shake, because they produce a lot of fines in the grind and I don't like to shake my grinds.
r/LaMarzocco • View on Reddit →I wouldn't advise it, I've had it for ten years, it doesn't grind fine enough for espresso for me. I'd buy a Baratza ESP from Amazon and return it if it doesn't work out I now use a Niche Zero and it's amazing for me
r/espresso • View on Reddit →This is exactly my setup. The Niche is markedly quieter than my SGP was; it's not silent by any means, but you can actually have a conversation with it running, which you absolutely couldn't do with the SGP!
r/espresso • View on Reddit →Niche zero is an espresso grinder (so no hopper) but due to its design it operates at a pretty low RPM and is very quiet for a grinder. And the tone is also quite low/different - almost like gravel being rubbed against each other. Also maybe look into the Eureka Silenzio. Look into putting the Grinder inside of a noise dampening enclosure like they have for high powered blenders at smoothies shops. Good luck
r/Coffee • View on Reddit →Specialita is that expensive there? It's 310euros ($340) here in Europe and the Zero, which is imo better, is 280euros ($300) without import tax.
