You wanna talk grind time? I just upgraded from a hand grinder to the 54 and it feels like I went for horse and buggy to Formula 1.

Don't buy a machine with an integrated grinder. A separate grinder is not only better, you can upgrade it. I bought the MiiCoffee DF54 for $229 and I love it.

I had it for a while and it never jammed once. But I agree the cleaning process creates a mess.

It appears to me that the [DF54 + brew burrs would cost $278](https://miicoffee.shop/products/miicoffee-df54-single-dose-coffee-grinder?gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=18519892019&gbraid=0AAAAAD8Pi-9VSBAWuZeDltVklpRTdLCw_&gclid=CjwKCAiAuIDJBhBoEiwAxhgyFsG_4rrUqB3UmCfk4saK3vTK8GGOBRBaIiuwcw9GR2yRB-lEKb4SgRoCI1YQAvD_BwE) while the [Ode Gen 2 is $319.95 for Black Friday](http://amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0BLRMCM9Y/?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_plhdr=t&aaxitk=6d5c2cd129cfd9988c359614670f2505&hsa_cr_id=0&qid=1763741962&sr=1-2-9e67e56a-6f64-441f-a281-df67fc737124&ref_=sbx_s_sparkle_sbtcd_asin_1_title&pd_rd_w=0HAUh&content-id=amzn1.sym.9f2b2b9e-47e9-4764-a4dc-2be2f6fca36d%3Aamzn1.sym.9f2b2b9e-47e9-4764-a4dc-2be2f6fca36d&pf_rd_p=9f2b2b9e-47e9-4764-a4dc-2be2f6fca36d&pf_rd_r=WD1NQZM0YGHBX0CYDQPD&pd_rd_wg=WeuMP&pd_rd_r=8040fe77-db06-4811-8ef2-e39986f26ab0), assuming you are in the US. That's still a $40 difference. What are you looking for in your brews, and what coffees do you prefer?

Well, the DF54 + brew burrs would have that high clarity profile you want. The Ode Gen 2 provides a more blended flavor profile that is quite forgiving, while still offering good clarity.

Well Df54 should be at least 30% cheaper and it's probably going to be more than enough for you

Very happy with my DF54 so far, zero issues, and came perfectly zeroed from the factory. Use it for pour over and espresso and very happy.

The updated ionizer / chute design makes a massive difference as well; zero retention, no more clogging issues and no more static. I've only had mine for about two months now and I'm positively surprised!

I have the bambino with a shardor grinder that cost $90, and i can pull very good shots, not excellent but good, what i mean is that if you want simplicity go for the bambino / plus and a d54 and you will be more than good, but if you plan to play a little with the machines i would go for the gaggia pd: i read in another post that some people say if they would have to choose a a machine again between the bambino and the bambino plus they would choose the normal one. and for the hard watter, the machine let you know when you have to clean it

I had a df54 for about 6 months and it would consistently jam. I gave it to my parents to use for their daily drip coffee. Just did not work for me for espresso. Also kind of an annoying grinder to service.

Mr df54 has absolutely no static. Zero. When grinding straight into my basket. No rdt either. Also perfectly consistent grind. Maybe something is wrong with your internals or ionizer idk

I would recommend the Bambino Plus and a decent grinder (D54 or something better - maybe a niche zero if your budget will stretch). From what I could gather when I bought my kit a couple of months ago, you can get a much better grinder than the one built in to the Barista Express and the grinder is much more critical than the machine. The killer feature for me of the Bambino (which I appreciate as a busy parent myself) is the start-up time. A lot of machines either need pre-planning with a smart plug, being run all day or waiting at least 10-15 minutes to get ready. Breville/Sage has various tutorial videos for getting used to the machine so would definitely describe it as user-friendly/aimed at beginners.

Static - 1-2 RDT shots helps a lot, as done as metal dosing cup. Use a toothbrush to clean the shoot every 20ish grinds to prevent clogging Consistency - either your beans are super funky or your burrs are misaligned, I would just return and replace it The DF54 is a crazy good value for the price range, mine is amazing

If you are looking also for a grinder i would spend those extra $200 on increasing the budget for the grinder and go for the normal bambino.

I just finally got a MiiCoffee DF54. It's worlds better than any of my previous grinders. To be fair those blade grinders in the 80's are still wack.
