Just like with cameras the best drone is the one you have with you. I only have experience with one drone, the DJI mini pro 4, but I do like how small it is and can bring it anywhere.

I have a Neo and a m4p and I feel like had I waited a month I'd have gotten this instead of both of them..ultimately though I'm beyond happy with my m4p and the Neo was cool as my first drone

The Neo's camera was underwhelming which is the main reason why I upgraded to the m4p but the flips camera is very similar to the m4p and the price is what would have sold me on the flip..you got that fly more combo for an incredible price

Use my mini 4 pro and my neo depending on the situation but it's always best to get boots on the roof in addition to the drone shots..hard to see hail damage especially and then impossible to inspect the deck without standing on it.

I highly suggest picking up a mini 4 pro to add to your fleet..the picture quality on before and after pics is night and day compared to the Neo..love my Neo too but damn the m4p is nice

DJI anything is more or less the answer. They have their quirks, but everything else comes with less support and more caveats. If you're just starting out, a Mini is perfect.

If you want collision-avoidance sensors the Mini4 Pro or Mini3 Pro are best in the sub-250g realm. Otherwise the Mini4k is a great value. Before 2025 tariffs went into effect, they could be found at around $250. I paid $430 for my Mini2 4 years ago. Essentially the same drone. I love my Mini2 (not the SE). I have taken it to Europe and UK 3 times now.

This 👏 I started flying on no-name sub-$100 drones, and crashed all of them in out-of-control fashion. Then I bought my DJI Mini2 four years ago. Everything changed after that. The drone takes off and hovers at about 5-feet off the ground waiting for you to start controlling it. And the RTH feature basically flies back to where you are and lands. The DJI Mini4k is the very same drone. But even with these amazing features, bad things can happen. There is always the possibility that a pilot can crash into something. So if you think that your child may be crashing, then you should consider buying them a cheap non-DJI drone to start learning to fly with. These no-name drones can be found for $100 or less. If you still want to get them a DJI, and you fear that they will crash, consider getting them a DJI Mini4 Pro. It has collision-avoidance sensors top, bottom front and rear. And so if you let them learn to fly with Sport Mode turned off, those sensors may prevent them from crashing into something. Bear in mind that the DJI Mini4 Pro sells for about $1000 brand new. So if you don't want to spend that much to start out, then I think you should consider buying the no-name cheap drones and get them to fly in large open areas far away from people, homes and vehicles. Good Luck 🚁

Whether you bought your DJI Mini2 for $430 4 years ago like me - or you bought a new Mini4 Pro one year ago for $750 at Costco - or you bought your DJI Mini5 Pro at the DJI store in NYC last week - we are all in the same boat. And we all have one thing in common. We're flying these drones whenever we can. And having fun 😀 The impending US DJI ban isn't a death sentence. If you want to fly a drone for fun - you should consider buying a new or used one now. And after you do that, if the US FCC bans DJI, we'll all together learn what that means for each of us. Good luck with your buying decision, OP 👍

Check out the DJI Flip fly more combo. It was released January 2025 so its new. It shoots 4k/60fps, flies for 31 minutes, has active track, can go 36 mph(which is pretty fast for a boat), and video transmission is 13km. You can also fly it without a controller. You just press a button, point it at yourself so it picks you up as a target, and then it takes off and follows you. You can also check out the Mini 4 Pro or Air 3s(this one is top notch)

The M4P is a little beast and just perfected upon the previous generations. It's like buying a base model car it's good and does the job but the top trim gives you some features that you didn't realize you wanted till you used them. The M4P having a downward light that's auto or manually turned on was like the chef's kiss IMO. I tell family and friends buy the Mini 3 to start and test the waters if drones are for you and you want more upgrade to the M4P if you have budget constraints grab a used M3P w/RC or save for the M4P because the Mini 3 is still so great lol.

Hey just sold my mini 4 for an Air 3 because I need something heavier, I live by the beach and have a ton of wind, I would have waited for the mini 5 coming out in September *with Lidar, but still would have been too lite *sub 250. The air 3 s has 3 basic things I like over the mini 4. -The weight that I need for my area. -Flight time 45 over 35 for the mini 4. -One inch sensor and dual camera on the 3s And the grand daddy, it has *Lidar. From What I understand about the mini 5 pro coming out it's basically a smaller Air 3. Good luck drones rock.

I own multiples of both the Air 3S and Mini 4 Pro, and two Air 3 units as well. What do you intend to shoot? How do you intend to shoot it? What lighting/time of day? What output do you expect to use? What wind conditions? What class/weight done can you fly regularly? The Air 3S has FAR better obstacle avoidance in low light on its normal obstacle avoidance sensors vs the Air 3 and Mini 4 Pro, plus it also has front facing Lidar, which has also been impressively good. On top of that, the Air 3S has D-log-M at extended ISO ranges, which happen to be the same ISO range the Air 3 and Mini 4 Pro only have shitty 8bit 'night mode' that SUCKS. I was NEVER impressed by the 'low light' capabilities of the Mini 4 Pro and Air 3, nor their Obatacle Avoidance tech even in what i would consider to be 'good lighting', sunset/dusk is too dark, Air 3S the sensors are fine even when its darker than im comfortable flying. The Air 3S exceeded my expectations in low light, both in terms of obstacle avoidance sensors (which are about 10x more light sensitive than the Air 3 and Mini 4 Pro) as well as 10 bit D-log-M performance vs shitty 8-bit 'night mode' on the Air 3 and Mini 4 Pro. Lidar works with zero light up front. The Mini 4 Pro is great if its calm weather and bright enough outside. Air 3 and Air 3S are FAR FAR FAR more stable in wind or gusty situations. The Mini 4 Pro is also quite small and handy if youre after something compact; its a killer piece of kit that punches WAY above its weight for what it is. We keep a Mini 4 Pro or an Air 3 in deployment as 'risky shot' drones for client work, the footage in proper lighting is GREAT! That said, i'd go Air 3S over a Mini 4 Pro, but we use both cams and low light/wind resistance matters for us.

I held off on the Mini 4 Pro & got the Air 3 instead keeping my Mini 3 Pro as a back up. I'll be retiring my Mini3P for this bad boy & when the Air 4 comes out hopefully with Dual 1" sensors I'll retire my Air 3. Very good things coming out from DJI to bad I gotta smuggle them into the US

Think of these updates as small incremental updates. Whilst it will have something that the M4P doesn't have, it won't be life changing. There will always be updated hardware just round the corner, so it seems pointless to continuously wait for the next best thing. I bought my M4P about it 6 months ago knowing the M5P would probably come out later in the year. I'm glad that I didn't wait as I've had such good fun with it.

If you want to shoot urban I'd recommend the Mini 4 pro as it has O4 transmission. If you want anything bigger you will need special licenses depending on where you are country/state/city wise. For me in Texas I only need my 107 to do commercial or heavier drones. If you just want to make basic social media content the Neo is your best bet as well but with a controller / phone. The Mini 4k is a more basic mini 3 pro but still good.

Literally every single aspect of Air 3s is better! Tele camera makes the huge difference between the two in terms of camera. The only plus of Mini 4 pro camera related is the option to rotate the camera. Everything else is less than in the Air 3s. Also free panorama is only available on the Air 3s. The intelligent charging hub is also a pretty cool thing: went flying today with a friend and managed to salvage one additional flight out of the few percentages left in the other batteries, he stood by me watching in awe of this trick 😄

As a beginner emphasizing on videos, you have two best options: (i) Mini 4 (or 5) Pro, if you're okay with on camera; or (ii) Air 3s if you prefer to also have a telephoto. In my experience (I've had two drones in my life, one with and one without a telephoto), I'd certainly need one. But everyone thinks differently. The prices of these two are not that much different, so I'd suggest you choose based on that feature.

The mini 4 pro is more PRO than the Flip. It has no sensors beside the front one, And lidar is good dont get me wrong. But the mini 4 pro has OMNIDIRECTIONAL sensors and its alot saver (even if its not even that save). I would see the flip as a TINY upgrade to the neo. And i dont think it will do well on the market. If it had IMNIDIRECTIONAL sensors it WOULD BE GREAT. Now... nah, I DONT THINK SO. Sadly.

Sure, but there's a definite gap in the market for a "professional" drone at <250gr (aka a Mini 4 Pro with a 1" camera). Otherwise, Air 3s is similarly priced to Mini Pro, and just a tad less portable (also offering the telephoto lens which is certainly nice to have at times).

For mine, it meant that it started acting a little weird during a flight and then it dropped out of the sky. The connectors inside looked loose but if that caused the crash it was caused bumpy the crash I won't know. I bought a Mini 4 Pro from Costco after that. Their were things I liked better about the P4 Pro, including the manual shutter, but the software on the M4P takes much better low light pictures and the rolling shutter issue doesn't seem to be much of a problem. But I make maps and large pictures for fun not a business.
