If you want a little cheaper option, the Oxo 8 or 9 cup coffee makers are also SCA approved automated pourover styles and run around $200 instead of like $350.
r/BuyItForLife • What is the Best Coffee Makers on the Market? ->I got the 9-cup OXO machine. They were good about a warranty replacement, but the machine is always dripping/leaking and I would not recommend it to anyone.
r/BuyItForLife • Ownership experience for Breville or OXO drip coffee makers? What's service and warranty like? ->OXO 8 cup brewer, If you want an easier single cup. OXO 9 cup if you want programming and timer.
r/JamesHoffmann • Coffee aficionados, the best drip coffee maker right now? What do you use/recommend? ->Depends on where OP is from. In Europe coffee means espresso. In the US it is usually drip brewed coffee. I have had a lot of equipment over the years. The Moccamaster will probably outlast you but it has no adjustments. I like my coffee a little warmer. Bonavita are good but don't last long. Had a couple OXOs that made great coffee but did not last long either. Currently have a GE Cafe that makes great brew. Agree with Baratza Encore being good but they use some cheap plastic parts inside so need frequent repair by owner and are not easy to clean. Have a new Kitchenaid that does make a mess and grinds well.
r/BuyItForLife • What's the best coffee maker you guys have used?? ->I think at the end of the day results rule. This is my 3rd SCA rated brewer. OXO, Bonavita, and my KBGV and neither of the others are even close to cup quality. The Bonavita was solid but the Moccamaster still makes a more consistent cup. The only feature that matters to me is great coffee.
r/Moccamaster • KBT Moccamaster: Impressions After One Year ->I've tried them all. French press. Pour over. I waited until I got to work and used the Keurig. I prefer my standard drip because it's the least work. I have an OXO 9-cup with stainless carafe. I can set a timer night before. It has a setting for 2-4 cups vs. 5-9. I make a 4-cup pot, which fills my oversized mug. I grind the beans, pour in the water, press on, and walk away. Or the same at night and hit the timer. I dont have to watch it. Or watch a clock. I'm not boiling water separately. I generally leave the kitchen and go back later for my coffee. Sometimes in 10 minutes, sometimes I'll get distracted, and it'll be 45 minutes... the carafe keeps it hot. No worries about sitting on a hot plate. And it makes good coffee. Pretty fast. Full disclosure, if I grind beans exactly right, and allow the French press to steep exactly right amount of time, it's slightly better. I use my French press for an occasional afternoon extra cup. I'm just not willing to stand in the kitchen for my first morning cup.
r/LivingAlone • How do you make your coffee? ->It makes really weak coffee. I had one for 5 years and switched to the OXO (suggested right below this). I was shocked at the quality difference.
r/BuyItForLife • What's the best no-frills coffee maker? ->I have been very pleased with my KitchenAid drip coffee maker the past two years. Just prior I tried Cuisinart, OXO, and Braun and was not happy with the coffee flavor and other features like size/configuration. The KA brew is very tasty imo and since it is programmable, I come downstairs every morning to the smell of a fresh pot. It has stainless trim and a sleek glass carafe so it looks nice on the counter as well.
r/BuyItForLife • Looking for a solid drip coffee maker. ->Thick beefy glass weighs a lot and pulls a lot of heat out of the coffee. Both major negatives! Luxurious feeling plastics are full of toxic chemicals. They prioritized plastics that don't leach toxins or flavor into the coffee. We have an OXO gold cup certified $200 coffee maker at work that makes the worst coffee known to man. It tastes like plastic no matter how many times I run water, vinegar, coffee through it. But it feels high quality haha
r/Moccamaster • Amazon got me ->I had every expectation it would be great! All Oxo products I've ever had are wonderful. But this coffee maker is horrid. We only have it because I'd been using my Moccamaster Cup One in my office and the others were getting jealous. So my boss bought a nice coffee maker but now he thinks I'm an idiot because the coffee it makes is disgusting hahaha

Ok so I have some experience here. I've owned 2 different Bonavita, and Oxo 9 cup, Oxo 8 cup, Moccamaster KBGT, and finally a Fellow Aiden. If you are looking for the very best coffee maker for what you get in the cup as black coffee, then of those all that is hands down the Aiden. However, for all the technical wizardry it has, it is mostly plastic, so longevity is a definite unknown. Of the other ones, Oxo has the best warranty in practice, and Technivorm has the best warranty on paper. Technivorm does not warranty their carafes at all - if it breaks, you are out $80+ shipping to replace it. This is even if it breaks due to a manufacturing flaw or some other reason. Oxo on the other hand replaced my carafe for free on my Oxo 9 cup 3 times - over time it would lose the vacuum, and would get hot to the touch. The coffee maker was 6+ years old the last time - long out of warranty, but they still replaced the carafe. The Oxo 9 cup is the best all around of the coffee makers I had before the Aiden. While it is tall, it made excellent coffee, and was programmable if you wanted to use that. It requires no stirring of the coffee while it is brewing. I cannot say the same with the Technivorm. While the Moccamaster does make excellent coffee, it is more hands-on to get the best out of it because of their dumb design for the shower bar. Ground saturation is an issue - I usually stirred everything after about 1 minute of brewing. The bar also feels like it is just a bit too short - most of the water doesn't fall in the center but rather closer to the back. The Bonavita coffee makers work well, and are smaller. My old one died for no reason that I could determine after a few years. The ones made now though are technically a different company - that original company went bankrupt. The Oxo 8 cup was an absolute disaster - no idea how that thing got the praise that it does from some reviewers. It always had to be stirred or half the coffee would never even get wet. I hated it. Overall from a BIFL perspective, the TV Moccamaster is likely the top candidate. They do just work for a long time, usually. Make sure to buy it from an authorized retailer and keep your proof of purchase if you need warranty service. If you buy one with a thermal carafe - baby it. They changed from being all stainless and basically unbreakable to being glass lined a couple years ago. It may keep coffee hotter but the carafes are very delicate and prone to breaking.
r/BuyItForLife • What is the Best Coffee Makers on the Market? ->The Aiden is my favorite coffee maker ever, and I have owned quite a few (Melitta Clarity, 2 Bonavita, Oxo 9 cup, Oxo 8 cup, and Technivorm KGBT). It excels at both single cup and batch brew. There is an issue with the flow meter getting clogged but Fellow is very good about supporting it and replacing the machine if this happens.
r/Coffee • Is the Fellows Aiden worth it, or is it overpriced for what it is? ->Here to second the simplicity and durability for the OXO. I have the 9 cup and have had it for nearly 8 years. No issues in that time, just needed basic cleaning and semi annual descaling. Super simple, makes a great cup of coffee.
r/BuyItForLife • View on Reddit →I have the oxo 9 cup and my pour over snob friends regularly ask me if I brought them a pour over.
r/BuyItForLife • View on Reddit →My OXO Brew 9 has been going strong for over 10 years, and still produces the best-tasting of any other drip (or K-cup) I've used.
r/BuyItForLife • View on Reddit →I have an OXO 9 cup coffee maker. It is an automated pour over machine. Have had it for years and use it daily. Makes a great cup of coffee consistently, Their warranty is great too. The vacuum in the carafe failed and the sent me a new one. Checkout some reviews. Highly recommended. https://www.oxo.com/barista-brain-9-cup-coffee-maker.html I also use a Baratza Encore to grind my beans. https://www.baratza.com/en-us/product/encore-zcg485
r/JamesHoffmann • View on Reddit →We also had our OXO 9-cup fail recently (after 10 years, albiet). I called support but they said they could not help. It was a great coffee maker for the 10 years it lasted, but definitely not BIFL
r/BuyItForLife • View on Reddit →Found a moccamaster for free on my towns buy nothing FB page. Needed a new filter basket and lid for the water tank as they were both missing. Both easily grabbed from Amazon for $15-20 each. Looks and works like new. Great coffee. The Oxo also get hot enough, and has great customer service for lot of replacement parts.
r/BuyItForLife • View on Reddit →I had an oxo for ages-still have it, actually, it's not broken but someone gave me a moccamaster. Both make very good coffee, but the moccamaster has a slight edge. It isn't programmable though.
r/BuyItForLife • View on Reddit →I have the oxo 9 cup and the grinder and it's been rock solid for 7+ years. Takes up a lot of space, but it's worth it.
r/BuyItForLife • View on Reddit →My OXO is working very good still, I put in a lot of research when buying one. Moccamaster if your budget is higher
r/BuyItForLife • View on Reddit →Look into [OXO's 9-cup machine](https://www.oxo.com/shop/coffee-beverage/coffee-tea/coffee-makers-grinders/barista-brain-9-cup-coffee-maker.html) and the [Moccamaster](https://us.moccamaster.com/collections/thermal-carafe-brewers/products/kbgt?variant=40200137670819). Both machines are frequently recommended and I also have experience with both and agree with the praise they receive. The reason they're pricier than most is their build quality, the consistent and high heat they produces, the design of the water dispersion, and -- yes -- their brand names. Both machines have also been recognized by the Specialty Coffee Association for their quality, which I'm sure is tied up with bureaucracy and isn't the only/best way to assess the quality of a brewer, but still, it's certainly something. Those are the two machines I would personally look at within your price range and I do believe they are worth their price. They both make delicious coffee. Fellow's Aiden is also a newer entry that piqued my interest but I have no experience with it and so I can't really comment. Their stuff is typically fantastic and similarly marked up because of brand name like OXO and Moccamaster.
r/JamesHoffmann • View on Reddit →That's a great setup, honestly. Moccamaster strikes the ideal balance between auality quality and ease of use. When I have time, I also enjoy giving myself a proper pourover, but in the mornings, I need something quick and reliable. I've also tried the OXO, and for half the work, it tastes surprisingly similar.
r/JamesHoffmann • View on Reddit →I have the OXO that's going on 10 years of near-daily use and after all that time it's finally starting to show its age. The coffee in the carafe isn't as hot as it should be and the red "clean me" light comes on way more frequently. I've been looking at the Mocca Master as a potential replacement or, honestly, just another OXO. Anyone who's owned both have any thoughts? I wfh and tend to drink a pot over several hours in the morning so the one with the heated glass pot is tempting me. But I've had such bad luck in the past with warming plates overheating the brewed coffee.
r/BuyItForLife • View on Reddit →Anything certified by the SCA is going to make a great cup of coffee. Lots of folks swear by the Moccamaster, I have an OXO because it was like half the price, but I doubt you can go wrong with anything on this list. https://sca.coffee/certified-home-brewer
r/homeowners • View on Reddit →I've had both the oxo and the moccamaster and would lean towards the moccamaster. It's literally add water, add beans, and flip the switch. The cleaning is a little easier on MM and it's got good support for replacement parts if you ever need them. I had a minor issue and they shipped me a new part next day. You can't go wrong with the oxo either, but I prefer the MM, especially from a BIFL perspective. Alternatively go for the Mr. Coffee base model and just replace it when the time comes. They can last for decades too.
r/BuyItForLife • View on Reddit →If she *enjoys* her coffee, getting the grinder makes a huge difference - but also has a few settings she'll want to test to get right: how much time and how coarse of a grind. Both are pretty easy to figure out, and once she has the settings, she'll never need to touch them again. I don't know if this would be a barrier to her using the grinder, but I have the OXO grinder and OXO 9 cup coffee maker and it's SO much better than any "standard" drip coffee maker.
r/BuyItForLife • View on Reddit →And serviceable. I bought and fixed up a second one that had a hard water buildup in the boiler; it's pretty straightforward to take apart and clean out the water system.
r/BuyItForLife • View on Reddit →I can't speak to the "8 Cup", but OXO's "Brew 9" produces one of the best-tasting cups I've gotten from drip coffeemakers, and has lasted me over ten years completely issue-free. I have an Aeropress, and it indisputably for me produces the best-tasting cup, but Brew 9 still does a great enough job for me to use it 99% of the time.
r/BuyItForLife • View on Reddit →I have an oxo on 9 barista brain coffee maker that's probably about 10 years old. https://www.oxo.com/barista-brain-9-cup-coffee-maker.html (also now comes in black) it has a timer. yeah the beans sit overnight but that's a compromise I'm willing to make for hot coffee when I roll out of bed. it's been great. makes great coffee. and oxo has great customer service (they replaced a carafe I confessed to dropping after the warranty was up without asking any questions). it only in the last week has had a minor quirky issue with the control knob but it still works fine. so is it bifl? probably not quite. will it serve you well and have coffee ready in the morning. heck yeah brother.
r/BuyItForLife • View on Reddit →I have an Oxo 9 cup. I love it. It's been very reliable. The only problem for your mother might be the red light that comes on to tell you to clean it. I have get the manual out to remember how to get the light to go out when it's done.
r/BuyItForLife • View on Reddit →The Oxo 9 cup is supposed to be a cheaper version of the mocca master. I use that as it has preprogrammed timer or it takes 4 minutes to brew. Anyone else try the Oxo?
r/JamesHoffmann • View on Reddit →Only get the moccamaster if your mom buys quality coffee. If she's a Maxwell house, Folgers or Seattles Best gal, then stick to the OXO. Moccamaster does the best job extracting the flavor from beans. But if the beans are shitty, that's not actually ideal.
r/BuyItForLife • View on Reddit →The Oxxo 9 cup coffee maker is really good and very stylish too. It makes outstanding coffee at around $200 or so. If you don't mind dropping $300+ on a coffee maker, the Technivorm Moccamaster is very good. They are extremely well built and all repairable with easy to buy parts from Technivorm. I got mine for $10 in a thrift shop so I feel it is a great value at that price. But I know lots of people who have paid full price for them and they all love theirs. I would have a hard time shelling out so much for a coffee maker. Also sometimes they go on sale.

r/JamesHoffmann • View on Reddit →Longtime coffee addict here-my trusty Oxo 9-cup has fueled me for over eight years, but I'm itching for a change :) Recently gave the Moccamaster a shot, but it wasn't practical in my situation. The Breville seems like a good alternative. It appears practical for me and the fine calibration settings are intriguing. Just curious if anyone here made a similar switch? What has your experience been?
r/JamesHoffmann • View on Reddit →I got an Oxo and I'm disappointed. It's fiddly (too many little parts, including a rubber tube inside the carafe) and cranky. Every couple months it just refuses to brew coffee until it has been descaled 3-4 times, a process that takes a couple hours. And I have soft water.
r/BuyItForLife • View on Reddit →Same situation, no time for fancy coffee, but want the best drip I could get. I have an Oxo drip, with their burr grinder. Best drip coffee I've had. I looked at the Moccamaster, but this seemed fine.
r/BuyItForLife • View on Reddit →I had an OXO that lasted about 12 years. Would have lasted longer if I descaled it more often. Now on a Moccamaster. I think the Moccamaster has a better build and the aluminum carafe is glass lined. But if you are buying regular coffee both of these are overkill.
r/BuyItForLife • View on Reddit →I had every expectation it would be great! All Oxo products I've ever had are wonderful. But this coffee maker is horrid. r/enshittification • View on Reddit →https://www.oxo.com/barista-brain-9-cup-coffee-maker.html have the previous gen going on 9 years. handle on the carafe failed and was replaced without questions or jumping through hoops. has an automatic timer so I can have coffee before my brain works. the timer and price are the main reasons I didn't get the technivorm moccamaster.
r/BuyItForLife • View on Reddit →Pour Overs are as complicated as you want to make it to be. I dont really do anything that complicated and once I find a technique/recipe that I like, I just stick to it. If you don't count the time that it takes for the water to heat up, it only takes a few minutes to make a cup. I personally enjoy the process and feel like it's a good 5 min break to brew the coffee. I have a good oxo machine for drip coffee but I rarely use it because I only drink 1 small cup of coffee a day. I would say maybe start with pour overs to see how you like it first? Both method basically require a lot of the same gear, like you'll need a scale/grinder for both. The only difference is that you need a electric gooseneck kettle + pour over device (they're not really expensive, v60 switch is maybe $35) vs a drip machine. In the worst case scenario, where you hate the pourover process, the electric kettle is still a great tool to have in the kitchen (if you don't currently have one). The electric kettle has become one of my most used tool in the kitchen because it boils water so much faster than the stove. I wish I got one sooner lol.
r/pourover • View on Reddit →rockin the oxo for about 5 years, got it for $60 open box at a swap meet
r/BuyItForLife • View on Reddit →I have the same setup as you (except my OXO is the 9-cup model). Fantastic coffee every morning.
r/homeowners • View on Reddit →Simple is better. We've had an OXO 9-cup and make two pots per day, going on 4 years. How many do you make? And what CPOC have you had?
r/BuyItForLife • View on Reddit →The Aiden might be overkill -- sounds like the thing you want is a good drip coffee maker with a clock. The "clock" part isn't the expensive thing (you can get a Mr Coffee thing with a clock for $30), it's the "good". Tbh I'd buy a decent one second hand. I've used the Behmor Brazen and Oxo 9 cup, and recently switched to the Breville Precision (all second hand), and can vouch for all of them, tho I really do like the Precision the best. And all are cheaper than the Aiden.
r/Coffee • View on Reddit →I just bought the Oxo 9-cup: excellent. Great thermal carafe. Perfect if you don't want to mess with pourovers or grinding beans.
r/JamesHoffmann • View on Reddit →We have an OXO drip coffee maker with a thermos. We did need to drill the crosshatch in the removable top as grounds were getting stuck...I didn't want a hot base for the coffee to bake/fire hazard. And no glass coffee pot! We also have: 2 French press Pour over Small stove top Sugar (check your regulations) We provide a OXO grinder and local, fair trade beans.
