VIOFO - A129 Pro Series

Can vouch for Viofo, I've had A129 Pro Duo for a few years and it's not let me down, great image quality, cost something like $300 or so, hardwired it myself, all pretty simple. The only thing that failed on it was the 3M adhesive on a particularly hot day this year.

I suggest to get any Viofo besides the A229 (audio quality can turn loud at certain times), Either go with the A119 or A129, best models or either a Garmin or Thinkware, you can find some of them for under $200 or $100 and they're very easy to install!

I have a Viofo Dual cam; the current version would be A129 Pro Duo. I've had it for several years prior to owning my Mav. It's been very reliable and I like that I could add a CPL filter. Mine is hardwired in using #3 (Auto-dimming Interior mirror) for ignition on and #5 (Lock. Unlock) for constant power.

Yes, but I’d recommend a dashcam with higher resolution than 1080p. Preferably 2.5K* or 4K. I like Viofo.

It depends on how much you want to have recorded around you, and how much you're wiling to spend. I have a Nofio A129 4K dashcam and it's fantastic. I don't have it hardwired, I just plug it in when I'm driving and unplug it when I park so it doesn't drain my battery ('01 Silverado's have their 12V sockets always powered) Just starting out, wanting to get a good cam but not spend too much, I'd recommend a 4K Viofio camera that's just forward-facing. If you're paranoid about someone rear-ending you, then get a forward and backward facing camera kit. Only reason I say 4K is so you have a much better chance of being able to make out someone's license plate in the footage if a hit and run happens.

Any dashcam from Viofo. Choose the model that fit your needs. I use A129 Pro at the front, powered by OBD port, so it gets power 24/7 for parking mode. Warn you this may stress the 12V battery. For the back I have a A119 V3 (from my old car) connected to the cigarette port. So no parking mode as the port cuts power when the car is locked. Viofo makes very good dash-cams available on Amzn, they’re highly ranked in reviews, not cheap units. I have three A229 2K dual cameras and A129 Pro 4K dual on a total of 4 cars. The A129 pro got stolen by tow truck driver when it was headed to the mechanic. If you’re DIY installing the rear camera can take a little bit of work threading the long cable, but lots of YouTube video step by steps. Viofo also has front-only A119 V3 cameras, those are easy to install you simply push the cable into the headliner and down the A pillar, around the back of the glove box to your 12V power source. There’s also a short power cable you can buy that tape power from the power home-link rear view mirror.

The best cameras are the Viofos but the Fitcam is the easiest to install cleanly and looks OEM so it really depends on what you're after.

I believe not, a lot of people complain about buffering issues and getting 4k due in summertime especially in hotter areas! But there’s an extra heat protector on the plus

My 8-year-old Viofo A129 is still working well, has good definition, and I like its mounting position. Good value for money.

As an insurance agent, I think EVERYONE should have a dashcam. Preferably one with front and rear facing cameras. There are some great 4k cameras out there with Bluetooth capabilities. Viofo has some great cameras that get amazing reviews, but they are expensive. For more budget conscious individuals REDTIGER F7NP is a great option as well that has wireless, but it’s not Bluetooth. We have them installed on all of our vehicles.

Just to add to the viofo line up… I have the a129, in the 86 and my Impreza lol Good cam for the price, not the best quality for reading plates but most cams around this price struggle with reading plates in motion

VIOFO A129 Pro dual with circular polarizer and hard wire kit. Took about two hours to do a very clean install. Get a Samsung Pro Endurance SD card too.

I installed the viofo A129 myself using the adapter plug in the cigarette lighter, not wired direct. It was very easy to do and no problems so far. It was my first time doing something like this so I was worried about routing it under the headliner but with a little youtube help it was no issue at all!

6 years and 4 years in Arizona heat for my A119 V3 and A129 Pro Duo, respectively. Still going strong. OP, [this post convinced me to get a VanTrue S1 Pro](https://www.reddit.com/r/dashcams/comments/1luh6dy/vantrue_s1_pro_max_is_the_probably_the_nicest_cam/), which is a dual 4k system. Only had it for about 4 months but I will say the app is way better than any other dashcam I’ve used.

I love my VIOFO A129 and I turn the gps off. It’s easy to download video to my phone and seems to be fairly reliable one year into ownership

Just installed a Viofo front cam myself, very easy to DIY.

I got the viofo a129, and it won't accept power from the usb-c. It beeps for 5 minutes, then shuts off. Is the vs1 lower power?

No. it's more likely you needing a niche product instead of the mass marketed ones will bump up your price. Get a Viofo A129 or A229 and turn the GPS off. Also, the camera company isn't "tracking your every move" that would require a sim card and data plan which most dash cam systems don't have, they require you to be physically near the camera for a wifi connection to your phone, or for you to remove the memory card and download video to your computer.

I use Viofo A129 on my cars. It’s top-rated for a reason - good price, 4K video recording, wifi connectivity, capacitor-powered (instead of batteries that bloat and degrade in heat), front and rear cameras. Newest model is now the A329.

No trouble at all! I keep a USB-C memory card reader in the car at all times to make it easy to view and download videos on the go. Not sure if I can find a night video but I'll have a look, if not I can probably take it out for a quick run round the block for you.  I don't recall looking into those, I watched an awful lot of reviews and it narrowed it down pretty quick to the Viofo for what I wanted personally - front and back, good video quality, but optional hardwiring. 

Get a dual channel one like the Viofo a129 so you record the front and back view.

old.reddit.com/r/dashcams is a good place to start, their sidebar / FAQ is good. It seems you need to spend ~~£150 on a good dash cam that can read number plates. I bought the dual viofo a129, seems like rlly good quality... Haven't had to use it yet, but on the things I do watch back ,quality is great. Seems like a common reccomendation to purchase.

My favorite app to use is Qubo, it’s very user friendly and it’s a breeze to set up and get it running. My favorite image quality is Vantrue, it’s pristine and read things super clear, day and night. My best VFM has to be 70mai tho because the Vantrue is nice but pricey and 70mai does 90% of the stuff for a fraction of the cost. Hope this helps ☺️ Edit: I would also suggest getting front and back. It’s more peace of mind. You’ll have more evidence and more angles covered.

Get a VIOFO and hardwire kit. It can do a type of sentry mode if it has constant power. I use the 119 and 129 front and rears on my vehicles, no problems in a few years so far.

Viafo front and rear powered off the donggar adapter. Saved my ass in a crash and ended up in my next Mazda. posted a guide on how to wire it up a few years ago. No issues.

+1 for VIOFO. I have the A129 for many years now and extremely good. If you don’t want to go through the process of hardwiring to the camera there is an adapter from Dongar you can buy to get power from the rear view mirror. That’s what I did and it works great!

I have the Viofo A129 Pro Duo. I’ve used it between 2 different cars, and it’s sufficient. If your budget is a little bigger, I recently bought my mom the Viofo A229 Pro Dual. The video quality seems much sharper and has voice commands if necessary like telling it to save the video or take a picture and more but it’s a little bigger

I've had viofi I think the a129 top model. Was like 350ish. It's good. I mean I haven't had to use it for an accidental purpose yet. Touch wood right. Owned for about 12 months roughly. And the app is easy enough. Quality is good. Previous was the redtiger. So not get this. Didn't last, most reviews are fake in my opinion. Hope this can help in the decision making. All depends on your budget at the end of the day

I’ve got both a single and a dual unit in our cars and they’ve been largely flawless. I’ve had two incidents where they seemed to glitch out and record nothing but a factory reset and they’ve been fine again - and we are talking two incidents over at least five years now. For the price they’re a great buy IMO.

I'm a big fan of the A119/A129 and related dashcams. Installed mine with the dongar adapter, very quick and easy

I got a viofi pro dual cam on Amazon and had it installed and hardwired to the fusebox at the Ames bb dude did a good job Edit also make sure you have a 256gb+ micro sd card and you also format it that might be the issue you're having with your current cam

I did a lot of research and ended up going for the Viofo A129 front and back. Been very pleased with the quality! I can probably take a few videos off if you want to see.

Lots of dash cams now run off of either the 12 V cigarette lighter attachment or via USB connection. I was running a viofo A129 Pro off a USB-A connection in my last car for the last several years. Lots of dash cam

problem with buy it cheap, buy it twice. I have viofoA129, it is just there working. you can't go wrong with viofo

Have you seen/heard about problems with video retention after impact? My A129Pro lost 2 months of video after a major crash including video of the crash itself.

My Viofo A129 has handled Florida weather for years.

Been using the viofo a129 for the past 5 years and still going well. Got the package one with front and rear cam included. It can also either be hard wired (with instructions) but I just plugged it in my auxiliary port cause I cant be bothered. Just tidied up the wirings and made sure its well tucked in the headboard as well as the pillars for a clean look. One important thing to consider as well is getting a good memory card. Make sure to get at least a high endurance/class 10 and ensure to refresh it every quarter or so.

I have the A129, didn’t get the hardwire kit but ik another brz that has it and they have no complaints. What you get for the price was reasonable enough that I put the same set up in my wife’s car and sold my brother on the same camera lol

VIOFO pro. Front and rear cameras. That I can download to my phone. I can watch live feed if I wanted. I think it also records stats, like speed and gps?

Experience with various dashcams and upgrading the battery in my car to the largest AGM type that will fit in the battery tray. (096 70ah). My car was vandalised twice and both times the dashcam, a Viofo A129, had stopped recording in under 12 hours. Replaced it with a Thinkware U3000 and now get a few days.

Both cars had the viofo a129 with the rear camera too. I did have to replace the adheshive pads for both cameras from the heat over the years
