I installed fitcamx on my wife's Audi. I personally have a viofo mini. The fitcamx is definitely stealth, but the night time videos on the viofo is way better. Btw, i bought the fitcamx "used without memory card" but it was brand new (with memory card). Regardless, i'd recommend getting a better memory card.

Look at Garmin. We have 2 of them, one is 6 years old and still working like new. We are in Palm Beach and the temperature is reaching extremes behind the windshield. We also have a mini Viofo as rear camera but we prefer the Garmins. They are really tiny and include the red light camera locations

Yep, for both my CX5 and 3. The Viofos work well, while they still work. I find after 2 years they quit on me. Might be my climate. Moved to the Garmin ones and I don't like how they work as much, but they last 🤷♂️

The best cameras are the Viofos but the Fitcam is the easiest to install cleanly and looks OEM so it really depends on what you're after.

Best advise. UAE is very hot; a super capacitor-based dashcam is always a good idea. I'm using Viofo VS1 and I'm happy with it. Small and very stealthy, but with good quality videos.

Vantrue or VIOFO. They both use the Sony Starvis image sensor and have great quality. The cameras are pretty set and forget if you opt for the hardwire kit. It will turn on and off with the car and start recording as soon as it starts up. The included power adapter does the same thing if your power port in your car turns off with the ignition.

Well, if you just want a single channel dash cam maybe have a look at the Viofo A119 Mini 2 or Viofo VS1 Mini. As for a two channel, then consider the older (released in 2020) Viofo A129 Plus Duo. All dash cams mentioned record in 2K front. Yes I am a bit partial to the brand as they have served me well over the year, "can" be reasonably priced considering feature-set, and they can easily be found on Amazon where I purchased my five two Viofo's in 2019. P.S. Viofo isn't the only brand we have used over our 15 years of dealing with dash cams. At present, besides having a Viofo A119 Mini 2 & A229 Plus 3-ch in play we are also using the 70mai m500 & S500, and the Wolfbox G900 Pro.

I've had no need for parking mode so for the past 15 years we've been manually powering on/off our dash cams. It' has only been in the last couple of years or so that we started hardwring them yet I still have three dash cams we manually power on/off. OP needs to lower their prerequisites especially when their max budget is only $200 CAD... I'm in Canada also so.... In my opinion best if they choose something like the Viofo A119 Mini 2 w/HK4 hardwire kit, or the VS1 Mini with the HK5 hardwire kit. Psarking Mode is enabled/disabled via the camera settings (disabled by default), so leaving it off there should not be any concern of battery drain.

70Mai is good - I've one in the CX5, front and rear cameras - and bought direct from AliExpress - retailers here sell the same thing, just for more. Do the math. Also the Viofo seem to be getting traction well - pick anything with the Sony Starvis sensor really - they're good in day and great at night.

1. I got a DDDPAI Z60 pro on my BYD but regret it because 4K is overkill for a dashcam and the software features are just not that well designed. The 1440p Viofo I have on my Civic is way better in terms of usability and features. Both use a Sony starvis sensor so excellent low light quality. 2.Heather Dashcam and Car accessories (Facebook) - I think they have a shop in Marikina but they did a homeservice install for mine. What's cool about them is that they accept installation of dashcams even if you bought it from somewhere else like shopee. Their technician knew his stuff, I asked him a bunch of questions (since I have experience installing dashcams myself). Paid only ₱900 for a hardwire installation via OBD kit, and gave the guy a tip because I could tell he's an expert and did everything with care exactly the way I would install my own dashcam.

Watch some of those Dashcams compilations on YouTube to get an idea between cheap vs good, you'll notice the difference in quality between clips. It comes down to sensor quality and key features. IMO Viofo are excellent for the price. Sony Starvis 2 sensor, parking mode, wifi and app.... actually these are the only functions I really use.

Thank you. You can actually install it yourself, as the dashcam comes with a prying tool to help you conceal the wires inside the interior trims and panels. I chose their home installation service because I did not want to risk doing it myself. If you do not tuck the wires in properly, they will keep dangling in front of you.

I have VIOFO VS1. I like the way it sits on my windscreen- very minimal and does its work. The main thing I realized after installing the dash cam is I can focus more on the road without worrying about how other people drive on the road. I don't know if this can be any better, but I'm very much satisfied with the product. Thanks team.

For PPF its a little expensive, they generally run offers on the packages but the going rate for 10mil package was 16k + VAT. You can check with them on the latest pricing or any applicable offers. For VS1 Dash Cam, its 499 for camera, 178 for home installation, 100 for CPL Filter and 250 for a 256gb card. They do give a complimentary 32gb card along with camera

I just installed a Viofo VS1 in my new car. It is a single-channel dash cam and is extremely discreet. It uses a supercapacitor instead of a battery, so it can withstand high temperatures, and it has a Sony Starvis sensor for clear video quality. I did not hardwire it, I am using the USB port on the rear passenger seat, so there are no dangling wires. It cost me 499 AED for the camera, 100 AED for the CPL filter, 249 AED for a 256 GB card (they include a free 32 GB card, but it only records up to 2 hours), and 179 AED for at-home installation. I am extremely satisfied with my purchase and can definitely recommend it.

Depends on what you want out of the cam. Do you need 4K/60fps? Do you want to be able to access footage wirelessly? Do you want something that can do cloud storage of footage? Do you want something powered by a battery or supercap (due to hot weather)? Do you want a front facing cam or rear as well? Personally I went for the Viofo VS1. Been using the Viofo cams for years now and find them to be the best bang for buck in terms of quality of footage v.s. price and features.

Hi everyone, just an appreciation post for this community. I recently bought a new BMW M340i and was looking for good dash cam options and PPF for the car. This community helped me a lot in finding the right people to approach by sharing your experiences and recommendations. To help anyone else looking for real-world feedback, I would also like to share mine. **For PPF**, based on the community recommendations, I went ahead with XPEL PPF and got it installed at Apex Detailing Studio. They recommended the XPEL Ultimate Plus PPF 10Mil, which includes 10 years of maintenance. The installation was excellent, with no scratch marks since everything was machine-cut. They also asked me to bring the car back after a week to make sure the PPF had settled properly. I also remembered someone mentioning that I should say I came through the r/DubaiPetrolheads. They happily added a Gtechniq ceramic coating package as a complimentary add-on. Overall, I am extremely satisfied with u/ApexDetailStudio, and a huge shoutout to Ravi for helping me throughout the process. Just added some pictures post PPF. **For the dash cam**, I did my research and decided on the Viofo VS1. I wanted something discreet (I did not want to hardwire it and risk affecting the warranty) and only needed a single-channel setup. I was initially considering importing the BMW Advanced Car Eye 3.0 or FitCamX to avoid dangling wires, but u/ViofoUAE recommended the VS1. With their home installation service, the camera was installed so cleanly that I barely notice it at all. Again, thanks to u/ViofoUAE for answering all my questions. The pictures are before the dashcam was installed, but if someone wants to see how the camera looks post installation, let me know and I can send you the picture for an idea. If anyone has any questions about my experience, feel free to DM me. And to the rest of the community, thank you again for all your suggestions in previous posts.

I've owned a bunch of Viofos but have switched to 70mai for the Ioniq 5. But anyways, you should mount it on the plastic part with just the lens peeking enough to view the street. Or put it on the right side of the plastic housing. It's annoying having the dashcam visible in your eyeline.

Looked into the Fitcam and VIOFO. The sample footage Fitcam support sent wasn't promising, so I went with the newer VIOFO using Starvis 2 image sensors. Doesn't really distract me but I do occasionally get questions from passengers. Also feel like having an obvious dashcam as a deterrent for reverse-into-you insurance scammers could be a plus. Overall happy, do wish it could do 1440p60+HDR in both front and back simultaneously though.

Just when I think I have a good answer, someone comes up with a better answer. The hardwire kit looks great, definitely going to get that for my viofo. For others that are shopping, the starvis 2 sensor this has is great. I have both the older and newer viofo units, and the starvis 2 definitely makes a difference compared to the previous gen.

Also a fan of Viofo. Been working great since I installed it just over a year ago. I got it because of the Starvis 2 sensor which gives improved clarity in the dark. If anyone is driving at night I highly recommend any dashcam with a Starvis 2 sensor.

I've fitted quite a number of dash and as someone that used to fit custom audio and security I've found many have annoying oversights and not found one I'm totally happy with: I'm currently using a Viofo VS1 as is unobtrusive and at a good price point for the spec. My bugbears are as follows: * Cable entry. This is often edited out of adverts. But nothing look as naff as a USB cable sticking out the side and dangling down the windscreen. There are models that build the power/connector into the base and use 90degree usb lead making for a much more tidy install (eg: Viofo, Blackview). * Fixing. Any suction cup or ball joint fixing = No. They fall off or move to easy in a impact/accident. Bear in mind in an accident such as a pile-up. There can be multiple collisions, if the camera moves on first impact, you won't have footage of subsequent impacts. As someone who was shunted from the rear into oncoming traffic causing a head-on collision, I can attest the first "bang" isn't always fully conclusive as to liability for what happens after. * Screens. Is it "really" needed? No. Makes camera bigger than it needs to be. It's better to stream to a phone, cloud or pop SD card into a computer. (IMHO). If streaming footage to a phone app, 5Ghz wifi is beneficial as also check out the quality of the apps (Road Angel apps are a bit meh, Viofo is basic but functional, Blackview more comprehensive) Screenless models include: Viofo VS1, Garmin Mini, Blackview, Nextbase Piqo. I'm still waiting for a good camera system that uses a remote recorder/screen so the only thing on the dash is the Camera, yes commercial and motorcycle options exist but I don't like the quality of the supplied cameras. * Reliability. Chinesium is rife. Even on Western brands. For example I've had two different generations of Garmin cams suffer CCD issues (purple sky). Also seen Vantrues stuck in reboot cycles. Also some are very picky on SD cards or cook them; Viofo are VERY fussy on cards (luckily they usually include their own).

Viofo mini hides perfectly behind the mirror, youll never see it unless you look over. Assuming you mount it on the ceramic black dots. I mounted it there to cut uv and heat exposure to the camera. Has stayed in place fine.

VIOFO, and make sure it says "STARVIS 2" sensor. Not "STARVIS", but "STARVIS 2". Also get the VIOFO branded Industrial Grade SD Card. VIOFO Industrial and Sandisk MAX Endurance are the only two SD cards recommended by VIOFO. Other cards have potential of file corruption after extended use.

GKU D700 - around $122 on Amazon after coupon. Have 3 of these in our household and they've been flawless (installed with the hardwire kit for an extra $25ish). App is great, decent size touchscreen, good quality front and rear video and capacitor based I believe. Had Viofos in the past which didn't last more than 1-2 years, so thought I'd give these a try.

I've had good luck with the viofo dash cams over the years. Some of the more expensive viofos have the Starvis 2 sensor, which does get a slightly better image (which might help if you are reading a license plate). Buy a really good high-endurance SD card, no matter what you buy And if you are ever in a collision, read the plate out loud so the mic can pick it up. Just in case the camera doesn't quite pick it up.
