With NextBase youre paying a massive premium on the guise of it being a "British" brand... VIOFO A229 Pro. Ridiculous quality and you've got the option of forward facing, inside facing and rear facing. It's got a parking mode too and voice commands. It's the brand that's generally most recommended on dash cam forums and r/dashcam last I check

Have the same dashcam as op, no issues with 50% tint at the back for both of my vehicles.

I went through this whole process before the holidays. After reading reviews, checking r/dashcams , etc. I decided on the VIOFO A229 Pro. You will find that it is recommended more than any others, despite what others are saying. I paid $130 through Amazon for what would have cost almost $500. I took advantage of the $200 signing bonus for the Amazon Cr Card and together with the Black Friday deal I think I scored. Will be installing when the weather warms a bit. Doing install myself. I have absolutely no idea why it failed. It wasn't baking in the sun, didn't fall, nothing of more. It just stopped turning on. I tried another power cable for it and still wouldn't turn on or anything. When I complained they offered a refund, not a replacement or repair so I never heard back what was wrong with it. I've had a viofo a229 since then and it's much better, no issues at all.

They're pretty well hidden and out of the way for me. You can see the front one is hidden behind the rearview mirror and doesn't interfere with Eyesight cameras. Yes I've had one since 2018. A VIOFO A119 V2 which I hardwired myself w/o parking mode. Last year I upgraded to a VIOFO A229 Pro 2CH which I got a shop to do. Started doing it from my interest in tech but came really handy when I got into a collision on the highway. Unfortunately this is a lesson most people learn the hard way as they don't think they need one until it's too late.

Viofo A229 Pro + RTC300 Telephoto camera. Both of these are forward-facing for me. I chose the telephoto camera as my 2nd camera instead of the usual rear camera. Tesla already has rear facing camera(s). Power is from a cigarette lighter to USB adapter in center console. My car is a 2020 Model 3.

I believe not, a lot of people complain about buffering issues and getting 4k due in summertime especially in hotter areas! But there's an extra heat protector on the plus

We had a FitCamX hardwired in our 24 Ioniq 5 and it would not loop record. I had 2 very close calls the FitCamX completely missed. FitCamX could not resolve why my camera would not work, and after 1 month of trying, I yanked it out and replaced it with a Viofo A229 that has been flawless. I have ours setup for recording when parked, a function the FitCamX failed at as well. A lot of people report good experience with FitCamX but that wasn't my use case. When we were troubleshooting the FitCamX, it had a Beta testing vibe to the process. FitCamX will relentlessly work with you to their credit and when I returned the camera to them, they fully refunded me without any prodding.

My A229 Pro handled the Houston heat just fine this past summer. Have upgraded to the A329, and am looking forward to seeing how it does next spring and summer.

His plug and play wiring into the autodimming rearview mirror plug in the overhead is so clean. The two channel A229Pro is super simple to use with voice commands, too, and download videos right to your phone ( it takes a bit since it's over wifi and file size).

if you download the viofo app, you turn on the wifi in the dashcam and connect your phone to that wifi network and then open the viofo app. you can then playback videos directly off the dashcam or download the video to your phone. it works pretty well for me, I just had to rtfm to figure out how to turn the wifi on the first time.

I got a viofi pro dual cam on Amazon and had it installed and hardwired to the fusebox at the Ames bb dude did a good job Edit also make sure you have a 256gb+ micro sd card and you also format it that might be the issue you're having with your current cam

Viofo A329 or A229 Pro, those are the only decent dashcams I know where you can get a half decent footage and legible license plates.

I've had both the A229 Pro and the A329; I find the latter to be a better dashcam, mostly for its SSD support.

I got the Viofo a229 pro 2 channel and really like it a lot. It's not tiny so if you want totally discreet look elsewhere. Did a bunch of research and it was between that and the "plus" model by the same company. If you are ok with big files and don't mind getting a 512GB card Id say go with the pro. 4k video is a lot cleaner.

Viafo front and rear powered off the donggar adapter. Saved my ass in a crash and ended up in my next Mazda. posted a guide on how to wire it up a few years ago. No issues.

Did you run the hardwire kit into the engine bay fuse box? I started to install an A229, but since all the interior fuses are always hot, I couldn't use those for fear of draining the battery. And the odb2 kit I tried to use was too short for the purpose. Running the line into the engine bay was more than I was comfortable with at the time, but seems the only option.

Viofo a229 plus if you live in a really hot area, Pro if you don't need " extra heat protection " , they're on SALE rn They have front and back cam, parking mode is iffy from heat I hear depending on how u have it set I've had mine for a year almost and I've had no issues, i love it and have caught crazy moments

The new lenses are a game changer! This new 4K +60 FPS will be amazing to act as both recording high quality video clips for my drives in the desert while also have the security of a dash cam! I love the customer service of the VIOFO UAE team. They really know their stuff, and they helped me pick out some models for friends and family. They answered every query I had, which is super rare these days, and the Installation was easy. What I would love to see in future models is a screen-free model, since many of my friends and family are seniors, and they don't want additional screens occupying the windshield. A discrete model that just covers the front and rear will be a great addition to the current lineup. I understand this may be challenging to implement, as the control module needs some space. My recommendation would be to have a covered control box that could be hidden under the dashboard. And the camera unit itself could be really slim and attached to the control box through cables. Just how we currently implement rear-view cams. Just the camera lens running the wires to the front unit, which is acting as both front camera and control box. Doesn't have to be 4k or even 2K units, even a simple 1080P Unit would be useful to act as a security feature and number plate readings. Huge fan of the VIOFO A229 lines, would love one for my personal car!

Second vote for viofo a229. Running it on my accord and my wife's crv. I honestly have nothing to compare it to(other then a couple cheap drive cams from like 7 years ago). But it works well and I don't have any complaints.

The A229 is a great option. It's my 3rd dash camera, and im happy with the resolution and features. I went with the dual camera version with a rear outward facing camera, which is nice. It has already been used to prove not at fault accident, which without would probably been 50/50. They go on sale quite offten but either way money well spent.
