Viafo front and rear powered off the donggar adapter. Saved my ass in a crash and ended up in my next Mazda. posted a guide on how to wire it up a few years ago. No issues.

I've not got a rear camera, but I'm more than happy with my Viofo A129 Plus. They've sponsored a few YouTube channels, so you can probably get a discount through one of their promo codes.

Yeah they're not cheap, but worth it in my opinion. I think they're also the only brand to use capacitors instead of batteries, which gives me some extra confidence that my car won't randomly catch fire on a hot day.

Yes, but I'd recommend a dashcam with higher resolution than 1080p. Preferably 2.5K* or 4K. I like Viofo.

old.reddit.com/r/dashcams is a good place to start, their sidebar / FAQ is good. It seems you need to spend ~~£150 on a good dash cam that can read number plates. I bought the dual viofo a129, seems like rlly good quality... Haven't had to use it yet, but on the things I do watch back ,quality is great. Seems like a common reccomendation to purchase.

I love this brand. I have yet to see anyone else with such good quality. I have the 129, 229 and the recent 329 version in my truck. No issues at all. Money well spent.

I installed the VioFo A129 front and rear dash cam system. It was pretty straightforward. Just make sure you have a trim tool from Harbor freight. This video below basically walks you through it step-by-step. I did not hardwire anything into the fuse box. I'm just using the cigarette lighter. https://youtu.be/aLVQEpw8I1E?si=BS6yz4EGqiDhHyP3

r/KiaTelluride • Has anyone installed a front and rear dash cam? Wondering what wiring the rear one will be like and the best way to do that. This is the one I just ordered on Amazon and it was one of their top reviewed. ->

I suggest to get any Viofo besides the A229 (audio quality can turn loud at certain times), Either go with the A119 or A129, best models or either a Garmin or Thinkware, you can find some of them for under $200 or $100 and they're very easy to install!

I like that clean look of that dashcam. I have a 2020 and I use a Viofo with a rear camera. Cables hidden under the headliner.

+1 for VIOFO. I have the A129 for many years now and extremely good. If you don't want to go through the process of hardwiring to the camera there is an adapter from Dongar you can buy to get power from the rear view mirror. That's what I did and it works great!

I have a Viofo A129 Plus 1440p front, and 1080p rear. Very discreetly tucked away behind my rear view mirror. I've had it for over 2 years now and it still works great. It has a GPS base which also provides power. And I have a polarising filter that clips over the lens too which helps reduce dashboard reflections (was a separate purchase). They now do an A329 which you may want to look at which is 4K and even better quality than the A129 (and A229). However it's quite expensive at just under £350.

Viofo brands are very reliable and one of the most common ones. I have the Viofo 129 because I figured 1440p was enough quality, and I wasn't wrong. The one above is 4k resolution. Easy install and even easier to tuck the wires. If you care enough though, their hardwiring is a seperate buy, but i heard most dash cams being hardwired in tend to always trickle battery power no matter what.

At the time it was. These cams are about 10 years old and as I recall they were about $90 each. There were dual camera systems on the market at the time but they were $300/400 (like Blackvue). I figured that if one failed, I'd still have the other fully functional. I recently bought a dual camera system (Viofo again) for my wife's car and it ran almost $300.

No. it's more likely you needing a niche product instead of the mass marketed ones will bump up your price. Get a Viofo A129 or A229 and turn the GPS off. Also, the camera company isn't "tracking your every move" that would require a sim card and data plan which most dash cam systems don't have, they require you to be physically near the camera for a wifi connection to your phone, or for you to remove the memory card and download video to your computer.

I've got the Viofo A129 Plus (front cam only). I've had it in three different cars now and haven't had an issue yet. Fits perfectly up behind the rearview mirror so it's not always in your face. The app leaves a little to be desired, but you get what you pay for. Video quality is great. [Sample footage from a wreck I witnessed.](https://v.redd.it/9wg37fw7au9a1)

I have two VIOFO A129 Plus Duo kits in my cars. I definitely noticed it was an upgrade on the Nextbase unit I had previously. It's a far neater package than I had. My general advice is to go for something that runs Sony's STARVIS/STARVIS II processor, which I believe Vantrue uses too. On the downside, biggest thing is that if you don't want to hardwire it, you can run into problems. One of mine is plugged into the lighter socket which on my Lexus would be powered on only with ignition, on my Skoda it's always on, I've had a few flat batteries as a result. I've hardwired it into the Aston as it already suffers heavily from parasitic drain and has terrible issues with keep alive memory (old school British electrics ftw). The hardwire kit has an ignition on power supply and always on power, with a low voltage cutoff so now that unit will automatically power down to preserve the battery. Hardwiring is less daunting than you expect, it took me a few hours on the drive, and I also had to repair and reinstall a sagging headlining at the same time, as well as replace some incorrectly purchased fuse taps. The plus sides are going to be more than just protecting yourself in an accident. You also will have evidence if you are trapped by a yellow box camera for example. It's really all benefit and if hardwired no downside.

Get a VIOFO and hardwire kit. It can do a type of sentry mode if it has constant power. I use the 119 and 129 front and rears on my vehicles, no problems in a few years so far.

Experience with various dashcams and upgrading the battery in my car to the largest AGM type that will fit in the battery tray. (096 70ah). My car was vandalised twice and both times the dashcam, a Viofo A129, had stopped recording in under 12 hours. Replaced it with a Thinkware U3000 and now get a few days.

This is just straight up false. [Almost EVERYONE is Wasting Money on Dash Cams.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4AnyhHl3_tE) Personally use a Viofo 119v3, which is 150ish. Superb dashcam, and if you want one with a rear cam too you can get the a129 plus for under 300.

No trouble at all! I keep a USB-C memory card reader in the car at all times to make it easy to view and download videos on the go. Not sure if I can find a night video but I'll have a look, if not I can probably take it out for a quick run round the block for you. I don't recall looking into those, I watched an awful lot of reviews and it narrowed it down pretty quick to the Viofo for what I wanted personally - front and back, good video quality, but optional hardwiring.

I use Viofo A129 on my cars. It's top-rated for a reason - good price, 4K video recording, wifi connectivity, capacitor-powered (instead of batteries that bloat and degrade in heat), front and rear cameras. Newest model is now the A329.

Just to add to the viofo line up... I have the a129, in the 86 and my Impreza lol Good cam for the price, not the best quality for reading plates but most cams around this price struggle with reading plates in motion

I installed the viofo A129 myself using the adapter plug in the cigarette lighter, not wired direct. It was very easy to do and no problems so far. It was my first time doing something like this so I was worried about routing it under the headliner but with a little youtube help it was no issue at all!

Been using the viofo a129 for the past 5 years and still going well. Got the package one with front and rear cam included. It can also either be hard wired (with instructions) but I just plugged it in my auxiliary port cause I cant be bothered. Just tidied up the wirings and made sure its well tucked in the headboard as well as the pillars for a clean look. One important thing to consider as well is getting a good memory card. Make sure to get at least a high endurance/class 10 and ensure to refresh it every quarter or so.

I've got VIOFO A129 Plus Duo in both my cars. I would strongly recommend getting a hardwire kit as a lot of car have always on power to the 12V socket and you may end up with unwanted battery drain.

I've always been a fan of the Viofo A129 Plus Duo-it's the perfect balance of video quality and value. The dual-channel setup offers peace of mind both in front and rear coverage, which is super important in today's driving conditions. One dream feature I'd love to see is AI-powered incident detection that can automatically save and categorize events based on severity. Also, love how Viofo consistently listens to user feedback-keep that up! It makes a huge difference knowing the brand actually cares about real-world usage.

Viafo uses super capacitors instead of a traditional battery, it's why they last a bit better in our climate. If you're patient and set up a price watch on Amazon using something like [camelcamelcamel](https://au.camelcamelcamel.com/product/B08577PXK5?context=search), you can sometimes get lucky and get a price nearer to 200. Also recommended is o get the polarising lens to eliminate windscreen reflection.
