VIOFO - A119 Mini 2

I'd go at leaat $90 and get the A119 Mini 2. Used a couple of cheaper ones but couldn't rely on them, and that's the main thing you need in a dashcam. I'm certain there's cheaper okay ones, but I wouldn't be able to trust them personally. Make sure you're frequently checking the videos from a cheaper one if you're going to cheap out on these.

There is a neat community and [recommendations thread on /r/dashcams](https://www.reddit.com/r/dashcams/comments/1iube1b/dashcam_recommendations_on_reddit/). Helped me get my A119 which was around $90 when I got it on sale.

That seems to be the consensus about ROVE. I ended up just going with the VIOFO A119. Thanks for the response!

Got the Viofo a119 mini 2 for $86 for Christmas.

Viofo gives audible alerts if recording fails, while FitcamX stays silent-so you might not realize it's not recording until it's too late. Hope this helps someone avoid a messy install!

I have a mini also as my first dash cam. I bought a viofo a119mini2 last month and love it. For the price and quality way better. It has a small monitor and i like that it came with a static film especially if you have tint. Also easy to remove the unit since you can slide the dash cam from its mount. I was gonna get a garmin but glad i did more research.

I love my VIOFO A119. Just got the v2 for my wife's car. They're pretty affordable and easy to setup/use

Same one I have in my work truck and personal vehicles. Works well for the price. I also am my own boss so it's forward facing only.

If you are in the market for a dual dashcam, I just got this from Vantrue Vantrue N2X 2.7K Uber Dash Cam... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0D9GRRXH5?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share which has been pretty good so far. I also got this https://www.bestbuy.com/site/sku/6506838.p?skuId=6506838&sb_share_source=PDP to go with it. Before this I bought the Viofo A119 mini 2 which was pretty bad as the app was not retrieving any videos and the camera was not recording the videos properly. It was cutting it off abruptly every 30-45 seconds. Give this a shot for about 170$.

My Garmin only lasted a few years also. I replaced it with a VIOFO A119

This is the one I use, as well. It's been doing the job, but there have been occasions where the unit doesn't begin to record when the vehicle is started. Thankfully, you can see this happening because the red REC led light blinks rapidly. Turning it off/on again seems to rectify it. It hasn't happened for sometime, but it was a concern.

So... Weirdly enough, dash cam tech or options hasn't progressed nearly as much as you would think over the past decade... At least from everything I've seen. Most of the better options are going to be Chinese made setups. I personally use a Viofo and I like it. It's adequate for what I need it for. I wanted a fairly PnP, inconspicuous, good quality recorder that required little interference on a daily basis and the Viofo A119 Mini 2 offers that. Granted, I only sprung for the single channel option but they do make options with front + rear as you're looking for. Anything you get, just make sure it has a Starvis 2 sensor because it's notably better than the previous gen option. It's worth noting there's a lot more to look at than just the camera features and specs. I think you mentioned ease of use/accessing footage? I recommend you look at reviews on each brands software/app ... Viofo's app works fine but connecting literally takes a minute or two sometimes which is annoying. A few other quirks but far from deal breaking.

when they broke into my car, they left my two VIOFO 119, and took one of the charging cable...

Viofo A119 Mini 2 is what I have. I rarely look at the footage though, but I guess it's just there in case. I just ran it to the fuse box to enable the parking recording, seemed easier than tapping the mirror to me.

I use Viofo 119 mini for the front camera and the 119 v3 for the rear camera. The whole setting costs less that $200 total when on sale. I prefer the smaller one up front so that it occupies less of my windshield. I bough a long usb C cable and run it from the middle console, under the floor mats, to the rear window. It sucks that the new Highlander doesn't have a 12v or an usb port in the trunk area.

It died just out of warranty, but it had problems before that. The customer support said to upgrade the firmware. That fixed it several times (PITA) before warranty end, but did not fix it after warranty end. It was a POS.

Then just install the Viofo cam or anything else needed and connect it there. Done. Simple as that. No hard routing in the A-pillars etc. It's the same method FitcamX uses, except Fitcamx is pretty bad quality compared to Viofo. Viofo always alerts when the recording is not working for whatever reason, FitcamX stays silent so you can easily miss recording on accident.

I have 3 A119s. They work great.

I've got a viofo 119 mini in mine. I wired it to the outlet in the passenger footwell and tucked the wire into the trim (pulled the a pillar). Great cam and you can't tell it's there.
