Vantrue - N4

I have the vantrue n4 with gps. Bought the dongle so I wired it into my fuse box. All wires hidden. Records when people wall up to the car. Has a forward facing/inward facing and a usb ran to the rear for the 3rd camera.

Yup I just tucked it up in there. Power cord on one end that goes to the dashcam and a fuse dongle on the other that plugs directly into the fuse box. Yup it's a good thing to have.

Phoenix here... I got a good deal on a Vantrue N4 so I went with it. So far, so good after a few months. They sell a heavy duty adhesive based mount for like $6 if the suction cup mount fails. The main selling point for me was that it uses a capacitor instead of a battery. That is supposed to be crucial for high heat areas. There are other models that have capacitors so that is where I would start the search.

I'm in Phoenix and have a VanTrue N4. I've only had it a few months so I haven't been able to torture it yet but the main reason I got it (besides that I got a really good deal on it lol) was because it doesn't have a battery but uses a capacitor instead. A model with a capacitor is a must for extreme heat from what I've read.

I have Vantrue N4's in both of my cars. I might as well live on the surface of the sun (Phoenix area) and after a few months of blazing temperatures, they are both still working without issue. I also saw some negative reviews for Vantrue when people discussed dash cams in general but whenever someone mentioned needing one for an Uber driver, Vantrue always seemed to be a top recommendation. Not sure if it's because Uber drivers need to have the interior camera and maybe your average person doesn't want it? (It can be disabled but I prefer it since it helps to provide a view of the sides of the car.) TBH, I was hesitant when I bought mine, but I also bought them at a deep discount from an auction so I saw little risk involved. I did read the manual and saw the warnings about memory card compatibility so I did buy the best one that I could and haven't had any issue. If price was equal I probably would have bought a Viofo since that's what most recommend but if the Viofo is $300 and mine was $75, I'm buying the Vantrue again no doubt.

Not worth it. Get a high end 4k dash cam. I have a 3 channel dash cam (vantrue n4, 3 channel) that was $350-400 NEW. Put in the time and labor to hardwire it ($90) and you have something WAY less expensive than the dealership charge. F that. Buy aftermarket and get what you need, a 3 channel dash cam. Saved my buttore than once.

Any dashcam that you can afford. I bought my van true n4 3 channel dash cam when it was the newest. Worth the money. Got my dad one as well. It's worth getting something to protect yourself. Just buy the best you can and upgrade later.

I use a Vantrue N4 since I has front, rear, and interior cameras. Helped me out of an accident once.

I have the N4. 3 cameras, one facing forward, inside cabin with audio and rear facing. I have a tesla now so i only use it for inside cabin footage.

I've got a VanTrue N4. It has a rear camera, internal as well you can turn on or off with microphone, it's decent. It's like $250 or there abouts.

I have a Vantrue N4. I just turned in my'23 HRV at lease end. I would go for the hardwire kit. Running the power to the CLA in the back is terrible.

They don't do well in hot climates and in the summer here it gets over 100 f. So one day the camera just died. I started a claim and they made me make all these videos trying to get it to work. Eventually they determined it needed to be replaced and sent a new one after they recieved the dead one. The replacement didn't work either. So I had to do the entire process again. Luckily the third camera was the charm. Now I take my camera with me inside so it doesn't bake in the heat.

Asking for recs in subs will be largely anecdotal, I suggest you use https://recsift.com/dash-cam/ to make your decision. I had Vantrue N4 (#7 on list) and while it was great when it worked, it did indeed brick itself after 2 years of use, and it's a known problem. I'm now using VIOFO (#2 on list) and I like it so far, and I love the fact that I can pull footage off the SD card straight to my phone instead of having to insert the SD card in the PC an extracting it. I also purchased Dongar Dashcam Power Adapter, which lets your power your dashcam via your rear view mirror without having to route USB cables everywhere. Only cable that's really visible is the rear camera thats stuck on my back window.

I have a Vantru dash cam. I do not recommend them at all. Get a Viofo instead.

Vantrue or VIOFO. They both use the Sony Starvis image sensor and have great quality. The cameras are pretty set and forget if you opt for the hardwire kit. It will turn on and off with the car and start recording as soon as it starts up. The included power adapter does the same thing if your power port in your car turns off with the ignition.

Been using the Vantrue N4 for a few years now in my personal vehicle. It saved me from being held responsible for a rear end collision on the 880 just north of Hamilton back in May when an old lady just pulled out in front of me when she realized she didn't want to exit only lane while only going maybe 30mph herself.

Most dashcams with "GPS" feature show speed. [Vantrue has some good 2 channel and 3 channel cams](https://www.reddit.com/r/dashcams/s/65SdNGK6Jc) tried and tested. Same with VIOFO, Garmin, and blackvue. Stay away from Pruveeo.

My Vantru was 3 years old when the Texas sun took it out.

I think you can't go wrong with a Vantrue and if you'd like a 4 channel dashcam it looks pretty good. I would give it a go

Have a Vantrue N4 too - more than 1 1/2 years too - no issues at all! Installed it myself. Very satisfied with it.

I've got a Vantrue 3 channel and it's been good for the year I've owned it. Only pitfall with my model is I need to unplug/remove the SD card to backup the footage. Plus models seem to have wifi capability.

I have the Viofo A229 Pro and can highly recommend it. I also think the A229 Plus will probably be more than enough but if you're willing to spend the money, the Pro is worth it. I watched a (german) comparison video of a few different dashcams and the Thinkware U3000 was one of the worst in terms of license plate identification. The best ones were the A229 Pro and the Vantrue N400. Therefore, don't buy the Thinkware, it's not worth the money.

Vantrue N4 is excellent

24 Forester. I have a Vantrue N4. Placed right behind mirror under eyesight and it causes no issues. I used a dongar adapter to pull power from the rear view mirror.

I think it may have been my fault. Wife got me a front windshield cover that opens like an umbrella, I forgot to take the camera down so it was cooked. The inside cam worked, the forward camera blanked out

Just bought this one last year and it's been great so far! https://a.co/d/7boa6ie It captured a baseball sized rock that shattered my front sunroof. Never saw it myself, but after seeing the video it helped with insurance to cover it as non human related, so it didn't raise my premium. The cables tuck away well in the liners and it's nearly invisible. Even the one routed all the way to the rear.

I got a Vantrue last year. They had good sales. I've got a 3 camera version, but only use the front camera currently. I turned off the cabin camera to conserve storage space. It also wasn't good for my marriage when I suggested we look at the tape to resolve a discussion we were having about who said what to whom. So now I have it turned off. I can turn it back on with voice commands if I ever needed to if we were being stopped or something.

I use the Vantrue N4 with a Dongar adapter connected to the Homelink port on my CX-30 TPP. Previously, I had it connected to the USB port in the armrest, but the camera would stay on even after the car was turned off, which will drain the battery over time.
