FitCamX is pretty good one. Depending on model/trim of vehicle it can come out looking like a factory dashcam. I have one for my Camry and it looks great. Uses the power from the auto dimming mirror. Easiest install I've done and I have installed 6 different dashcams on my vehicles over the years.

I've been using it in my 2023 Hyundai Kona for a few months now, good video quality and loving the integrated look! Download speeds in the app is low, but i just remove the SD card and plug it into my computer for export. Highly recommend.

I have the front only and the standard setup was easy. I believe you can wire it in to your fuse box in order to allow it to record even while the car is off in the event of a crash but that seemed more than I needed

FitCamX. Install is pretty easy and it integrates very well. I have one on my 2022 and it works well. It's interface to connect a phone to it to download videos is a bit clunky (it creates its own WiFi hotspot that you connect to), but you can always just pull the SD card to download videos if needed.

It was a bit challenging to install and get all the cables back in the right place. Downloading videos isn't straightforward. But once installed you don't notice it, and the video quality is good enough. I would buy it again.

Oh dear. It's a shame, as it's easily the sleekest dashcam I've seen. But if it can't reliably do the one job I bought it to perform...

Fitcamx. Cleanest looking one that looks OEM. Recording quality is ok but I'm not looking for the best, just wanted something for daily driving.

Did you download the video over wifi, or take the SD card out and play it directly? Reason i ask is (i think) the Fitcamx makes the quality a lot worse when you export over wifi vs what you can see on the SD directly (it might be my other car's camera that does that- but i thought it was the ps2)

What kind of car is it? I like FitCamX for models they support - it usually replaces part of the rear view mirror housing and looks basically built in. Self install kit includes a wiring harness and everything.

As far as parking, plenty of use cases, two of which I've personally experienced: people backing up into your vehicle while you're parked. My wife had a literal NUN back into her vehicle, multiple times, tons of damage, Austin Powered back and forth a few times, then drove away and found a different spot. Camera footage was the only way they could prove it was the nun (she was literally in a habit, and doddering through the Barnes & Noble when the police caught up to her, just going about her business). "Oh me, oh my...are you sure you have the right person? \*nuns\*" Hit and run is a great reason for parking cam. But I do agree, I would only do it with an intelligent external battery.

I'm happy with my FitCamX. I have both front and rear cameras. Front takes like 30 mins to install and rear is like 40-45 mins. Well worth it. I just pulled a video yesterday for a woman who got in wreck right in front of me. Someone ran a red light and t-boned her front end.

Oh, on their web-site, it says that when the vehicle is locked, it turns off. So this is not a "sentry mode" option. Any way to make it work like that?

Fitcam x is all plug and play, if you're really concerned just remove it, plug the harness back in, put the plastic cover on. No real way to even tell you did anything unless you scratch everything

I thought it was working perfectly too. It was only when I started going through the individual video files when I realised it wasn't recording properly. Failing silently is not a good feature.

I have the fitcamx on my 2023 corolla. Dream to fit as it connects to existing "safety eye camera" around rear vision mirror. Took 5 minutes. Could do it in one minute next time. I have installed a few dashcams. rear cameras are another beast and may take a few hours to run to back of car (the first time, 30 minutes the second time), especially hatches. The apps are all annoying as you must connect via wifi to get footage. FitcamX does show front and back in same frame via app which is not as common I just take out the sd card and put it laptop. I recommend getting the smallest sd card that is available with whatever model you get and throw it away and upgrade to a 512. 128GB stores about 2 days or 8 hours front and back? (if you drive all day like me) and they slowly fill up with possible crash data that is not overwritten. 512 gets me to the weekend to save to laptop and upload if it funny Installed a Kenwood on a few others as it could be removed with a quick click. But it would pop off in high heat. I always recommend front and back since some close calls I have had, you needed to see rear footage. I had the classic brake check, but rear footage showed they were just a jerk who didn't want to follow someone driving speed limit. Used rear footage to help a hit and run for another driver as it showed number plate. If you have poor install skills, use a front cam with a cabin cam which will give you some rear footage. I will be installing a Viofo in my mums car next. They seem like a quality package

Right. Quality was good though when using the microsd. But truth be told, I have only looked at it one time after initial install, when these e-bike middle schoolers were blocking the road and popping wheelies. Posted the vid online in my housing area group. Hah

I have dual FitcamX in my 2023 Ford F-150 Lightning Pro and my 2021 VW ID.4 1st Edition. The Ford was a piece of cake to install. There is a soldered on battery that can fail. FitcamX replaced mine due to this. You will know when every video is dated the same 01012020. Also, they have gone to a new file format and I had to download software for my Windows PC to generate thumbnails and play the video

Plate not legible but still good enough. Investigated the rumours the fitcamx is the exact same, and considering their app works perfectly with this, it's very likely. Each camera quality tier is almost certainly all 1080p with levels of poor upscaling £63 delivered - https://a.aliexpress.com/_Eu3MFD8

FitCamX with the front 4K and rear. Fishing the wire to the rear is a piece of cake, like 5 minutes, not removing any panels/trim inside the car. The app on the phone is pretty crappy. If you try to play back video connecting to the cam it kind of sucks. Removing the MicroSD card and popping it in a PC, it plays back perfectly. The front and rear cameras do store the data in separate files.

You can install it yourself easily. Just use this cable https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0D2D78KMJ?ref=emc_b_5_mob_t Other Redditors reported success with this one as well https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CZ7QJVHC?ref=cm_sw_r_cso_cp_apin_dp_H76099TX42XDAEK2XCE3&ref_=cm_sw_r_cso_cp_apin_dp_H76099TX42XDAEK2XCE3&social_share=cm_sw_r_cso_cp_apin_dp_H76099TX42XDAEK2XCE3&starsLeft=1&skipTwisterOG=1 You just buy this cable (12P type C), open the lane assist cover, connect this Y cable in between the lane assist connection, and with that, you have a powered USB port right in the middle of your windshield. Then just install any dash cam or anything else needed and connect it there. Done. Simple as that. No hard routing in the A-pillars etc. It's the same method FitcamX uses, except Fitcamx is pretty bad quality compared to Viofo or Redtiger. Viofo and Redtiger always alerts when the recording is not working for whatever reason, FitcamX stays silent so you can easily miss recording on accident.

Does that FitCamX have that special battery that goes into your glove box or wherever, so it charges when you drive/charge, and discharges when parked and not plugged in?

> Does it notify you someway if something like that happens or is there a way to tell? It does not. That's the biggest disadvantage of the Fitcamx. You will miss your recording once your microSD fails. And it will fail eventually.

I had a hardwired FitCamX, and it would not loop record. I ended up replacing it with a hardwired VIOFO A229, which has been flawless. I had two near-miss incidents, the FitCamX missed, and after several attempts to fix the issue with FitCamX, I gave up on it. A dashcam is for peace of mind, and I could trust that the device would work when needed. If you get the FitCamX, thoroughly test and periodically confirm that it is doing loop recordings. FitCamX as a company is reputable and well-intended. They refunded me the full amount without any prodding. We needed our camera to be hardwired because we want to record when the car is parked; this is a feature the FitCamX does not support.

We had a FitCamX hardwired in our 24 Ioniq 5 and it would not loop record. I had 2 very close calls the FitCamX completely missed. FitCamX could not resolve why my camera would not work, and after 1 month of trying, I yanked it out and replaced it with a Viofo A229 that has been flawless. I have ours setup for recording when parked, a function the FitCamX failed at as well. A lot of people report good experience with FitCamX but that wasn't my use case. When we were troubleshooting the FitCamX, it had a Beta testing vibe to the process. FitCamX will relentlessly work with you to their credit and when I returned the camera to them, they fully refunded me without any prodding.

Just got the FitcamX. Loving it! I didn't do the rear cam or fuse kit. Just don't see the need. It looks like it was made by the manufacturer and was stupid easy to install. It is a Chinese product, but it's pretty straightforward and the quality seems pretty high.

Yes that is my suspicion. Very good idea, would like to see the three options side by side in identical situations And my review is by no means slandering the camera, it's OEM nature and easy WiFi control is fantastic. Just there is no reason to pay extra for the 4k or even 1440p if it turns out the 1080p is identical
