I've had a lot of success with the Blackvue Range. The DR770X is a great model. If a little on the pricey side. The DR970X has 4k resolution. Feel free to contact me if you need any help 😊

VanTrue, Viofo, and Blackvue are it. Father got a VanTrue e3, friend got a Viofo 229 I think, and I have a Blackvue All solid cameras, haven't had any issues. As far as 24/7 parking mode goes, I have a dr970x either the normal or plus I hardwired to the fusebox and that's been recording great -- Edit: didn't see the mention of radar detection If you want a radar detector, just get one separate. I have a friend who had an escort cam and he's been having some issues with it and I don't know much else otherwise in favor it I run an escort max360 that I hardwired as a mirror tap and that's been great too - haven't had any issues with my car's battery either and it's probably a year now since I rigged it up. Escorts have reported alerts from others as well as camera heads-up if you link the app on your phone with your radar detector -- Edit 2: After edit 1, I remembered seeing a [Reddit post](https://www.reddit.com/r/Dashcam/s/i22Io2pLEz) a few months ago that I commented on and it was on a negative experience about someone else's escort cam malfunctioning Hope this helps and I wish you the best in your decision :)

Most dashcams will do what you're asking. Night recording, license plate capture, history, etc. But there will be trade offs in terms of subscription vs storage and setup. 4k video is about 100MB per minute for storage. If you're keeping more than a few hours of video onboard, that's going to require a large (high endurance/extreme) SD card. 512GB up to 1TB. Unless you transfer video off daily, it will overwrite itself. Some people have written apps to do background transfers (i.e. Blackvuesync) to a server but that will require infrastructure and network access. Unless you park close to your Wi-Fi AP, you'll have to pay for cellular access. I've done what you're asking but it does require some effort. Blackvue DR970X in both cars plus LiFePO4 batteries. Park within Wi-Fi range and run a NAS with Docker to host the Blackvue app. Works great but it does have it's challenges. Or you could pay for a dashcam subscription.

I like how you had to add Black Edition like it matters with the dash cam lol I got a 4K BlackVue with front and rear. The app is bunk. But I also don't have the cellular add on. And the footage only lasts for 24hrs so if I don't download it that day it's gone forever

As a dr970x plus owner i can help you rule out blackvue. Do not buy. The video quality is not worthy of its price. I love the form factor though. App is alright

Blackvue 970 hardwired with a Blendmount. Flawless execution but resolution is not as good as it should be.

I got Audi dashcam from CPO it was terrible. 1080p quality, who use 1080p anymore its unusable during night time, and the process to save the video was also terrible. Then i move to blackvue something, now its 4k, automatically connect to your phone, and easier to save the file

You'd get better advice from the nerds in the dashcam subreddits. But I have a blackvur and it's great. Typically Viofo is the one to get though.

BlackVue DR970x plus. I have one in all 3 of my Subarus and a Honda. Saved my butt when I got rear ended and was blamed for slamming on my brakes. Video evidence showed way different.

You need to choose between a wide field view or a narrow focus on plates, and almost all cams choose the former. Add in low quality cameras and video compressed for uploading and you get what you describe. Thinkware U3000 and Blackvue DR970x plus are decent options.

At the moment, Blackvue is no longer a good recommendation. My DR900S from 2018 through 2025 had HDR. My DR970X Plus from JAN 2025 through JAN 2025 does NOT have HDR and is being returned immediately. HDR is not a fad, passing trend, or conspiracy pushed by Alex Jones. It the most basic item a camera must have to be useful at capturing details like license plates. Without HDR you might as well replace the recorded footage with the Windows 98 Bezier screensaver and extra-long mouse cursor trails. Recording a grainy blur in 4K is a high-quality grainy blur but it's still a grainy blur.

Ur final buy is probably going to be dictated by price. I've been using BlackVue cameras for the past 10 years or so, and I upgrade every few years. Definitely one of the best (but not the cheapest) dashcam out there. My current one has front and rear cameras and built in LTE module for remote viewing, when the car is parked up and I'm not close buy, as well as remote event notifications. (DR970X)

You're looking for at least a two channel dashcam with cloud features that has parking mode. I personally use the BlackVue DR970X Plus but you also need to have an external LTE module if you got that route. It also either needs to be hardwired or you need to purchase an external battery pack. Not gonna lie, it can get pricey to have all these features.

I installed the Blackvue DR970X-Plus with front and back cameras... Took me the best part of the afternoon, but I took my time and made sure everything was done the way I wanted to do it. Powered during driving and battery packs for when parked - it runs 24/7 - 365. It's also connected via sim card to the cloud so I have real-time access via the app for monitoring and/or reviewing footage, etc. Would highly recommend.

I went with a blackvue 970x lte. Had a nextbase fitted when I brought the car by the dealer, got it removed after I was hit in a car park and the footage started about 8 seconds after impact... just getting the footage off was annoying.

For fleet we often do blackvue DR-series with a tamperproof case. That way, it can not be unplugged. Some options for LTE models for remote viewing capabilities. Pricing will vary depending on where you are.

I had the same camera. Not great. Lens focus and reliability issues and it just doesn't have many good features. Many other cheaper cameras have better parking mode and a better rear camera

I like the constant recording, I changed after somebody hit my car whilst park, the next base turned on but took about 10 seconds before video. Fortunately it got the side of the car from the rear and a good shot of the guy inspecting the damage before he fucked off... From a test with the BV it would have got the car from the front when he entered the car park in its line of sight. Only thing I find bad is the cost of the sd cards in the uk, the 1/2tb is ~$100 whilst the 256gb is £190... I did try a Samsung pro endurance but it didn't like it causing glitches. The other one I considered was the thinkware.

I put in a blackvue dr970x and it's much better than a fitcamx. Fitcamx ruined my safety sense camera as it plugs in there and dealer had to put a whole new one in, 2 grand...

For $500 USD you can most definitely get a better camera than the stinger one. Thinkware u3000, viofo a329s, blackvue dr970x are all top-shelf camera systems. You won't need ADAS as your car most likely would have come equipped with all of those safety features.

Ignore the judgmental types... okay, let's swing for the fence on this. Look in the right sidebar and you'll see a list of recommendations. I suggest the [BlackVue DR970 LTE ](https://www.blackboxmycar.com/products/blackvue-dr970x-2ch-lte-plus-4k-uhd-cloud-dash-cam)model listed. The LTE provides a cell signal so it's connected to the cloud for you to see location, live feed and videos. You can also configure notifications if the car has been hit, which can be so sensitive it reports someone pushing against it. While you're at it, I also recommend getting a battery pack like [this one](https://www.blackboxmycar.com/products/blackboxmycar-powercell-8-dash-cam-battery-pack) so the dashcam isn't drawing on the car's battery to remain powered during parking mode. The battery pack should record over 24 hours, depending on the settings, and will be fully recharged after about 30 minutes of driving.

I've tried a few dashcams over the years, and honestly the Rove R2-4K Dual Dashcam has been the best value for the price. You can usually find it in the $100-$150 range, and it gives you 4K front video quality plus a solid 1080p rear camera. What I like most is how easy it is to set up built-in Wi-Fi plus GPS, a clear app, and motion detection. It also records great at night, which some cheaper ones struggle with. If you're comparing options, the DR970X is amazing but kind of overkill unless you need extreme detail or parking surveillance 24/7. The Rove gives you 80-90% of that performance for a fraction of the cost. \-4K front / 1080p rear \-Wi-Fi + GPS built-in \-Great night vision \-Around $120-$140 on Amazon Definitely worth checking out if you're looking for something solid without dropping close to $900. I highly recommend start with Rove R2-4k Dual.

I have the 970X and to be honest it's not worth the $$'s. Firstly the interface/app is terrible and parking mode only drains the battery even if you have it set for motion detection only. Then for LTE for viewing all/anytime remotely you need an LTE module or buy the one with built in LTE that is huuuge! Then for parking mode really to work you need to buy a BlackVue battery.... I'd never buy Blackvue again!

Yeah I'm going to buy another for the is500 maybe the 970x. They just released a 2k front and rear. But most incidents are from the front. Which the 970x is 4k front and 1080p in the rear I believe.
